Clinton picks up four NY supers

Posted: Thursday, May 01, 2008 2:12 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Clinton picked up four more New York superdelegates--all add-ons named at the state's convention, taking place today.

Clinton, a senator from New York, has gotten the vast majority of New York's superdelegate total, buffeting her superdelegate lead, as, of course, New York is one of the most Democratic states in the country. (States get more delegates based, in part, on past presidential voting preference as well as size.) Clinton has picked up 45 New York superdelegates to Obama's one. Three NY superdelegates are undeclared, by our count.

Obama, as we've noted, is likely to pick up the three Illinois superdelegate add-ons by Monday, after they are officially named at this weekend's Illinois state convention.

There are almost 60 add-ons from various states, who have yet to be named and will likely declare their endorsements after they are appointed at state conventions. Those included, there are 276 undeclared superdelegates overall.

The New York superdelegate add-ons are: New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (former Gov. Mario Cuomo's son), former Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and New York Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo.

SUPERDELEGATES: Clinton 272-249
PLEDGED: Obama 1,490-1,334
OVERALL: 1,739-1,606

With these four from NY (but not including those from IL), since PA, the count is Obama 12, Clinton 10.

Better than the Super Bowl!!

GO OBAMA!!!

Way to NY supers.  Hillary must win the nomination, if we are to have a democrat in the white house.
Obama cannot win in November.  If he gets the nomination, then I vote McCain.
Hillary, you are the one!

www.hillaryclinton.com
Before we all react like sheep, let's remember, that Obama only needs about 80 of the remaining superdelegates, while Hillary needs over 210.

Vote with your head, vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs.

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.

So, this ends when Obama gets some superdelegate in Kentucky drunk, makes him sign some kind agreement to vote for him, and that puts him over the top? Will that come with confetti?
Gee, imagine that, she gets all but one of the supers from NY!  Guess they know better than to cross a Clinton, especially one who will still be a NY senator after Obama is President.  It's called politics as usual.
We do not support O'Bama because of what his preacher said....we do not support O'Bama because of what HE DID NOT DO...He did not stand up for America...by complacently remaining in that church, he complacently accepted all the rhetoric...including the Damning of America....his lack of judgment, poor decision making skills, inablity to stand up for America in his own church,.. for 20 LONG years, tell us alot about O'Bama's character!!!!!!!! ...and he wants to be our commander in chief, the highest office in our country...YOU HAVE SERIOUSLY GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!

This so called rev. was his mentor, spiritual advisor, like one of his family...and O'bama refused to give him up until the voters began to give him up!!!!  I do not believe O'Bama's "words" anymore!!!!!
I congratulate Senator Clinton.  With that being said, I am a strong supporter of Obama.  I do not expect anything said on this blog to sway anybody to one side or the other, however I'll give it a try, I strongly encourage Senator Clinton supporters to put aside Rev. Wright and take a look at the issues that are finally gaining attention by the MSM.  HRC is using her you all to get the nomination.  I urge you to look at the issues and with an open mind evaluate where both candidates stand.  Also, bear in mind that the tactics that her campaign has employed are the same tactics that got us Bush for 8 years.  Her policy stance soars above Bush, however, her character seems to be right in line...arrogance and exploitation of Americans fears.  THINK!
WTG Hillary. Keep them pileing on.Hillary is our only hope for this race. We need Hillary so bad and those Obama people are so not helping our party. They are the rudest meanest and rotten people I have ever stumbled upon.New York is for Hillary and will help her bring in Nov. win. Not to Obama. He will not win Nov. Just let him bring in money he does that just to lose the race.
WHY do they just dribble out everyday? Let's get it over with and move on to the General Election.
MAY THE BEST MAN WIN ---- OBAMA
You have to be kidding.
Well what can you expect!!! It is New York! They don't know any better, God Bless Their Hearts!!!
It's a good day in the Clinton Camp...these Superdelegates realize who's electable!!
Go Hillary!  No matter how you spin the race is close!!!!!  Our party has Two great candidates!!!!!
its about time the super delegates are getting involved....
Facts are a stubborn thing.  Obama cannot close his 20 year old relationship with Wright because there is so much video evidence against it.  On the TV program THE VIEW, Obama declared that Reverend Wright accepted that his view were inappropriate and mischaracterized.   That it had offended many people.  Then weeks later Wright goes on a national Hate America Press Tour?  This was a blatant lie.  Or worse, Obama was fooled by Wright which is kind of scary.  That a possible next president can be played by a character such as Wright.  Check the video evidence yourselves.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6J7yJ9R5p0
Nice!!!

Hillary all the way.
if it continue this way (half sd for Obama, half for Cliton), Obama nomination is all but assured. Hillary drop out!!!
Senator Obama has my vote.

48, white, male, married, professional, business owner.
Make the world go away I dont want to talk about my racist anti semetic outragous pastor, and MSNBZZZZZZZZZZZ agrees no more rev wright its over 20 years over close personel relationship over going to the next million man march  to see farakhan never happen AGAIN but it did happen once do you think they were introduced by the REV< did they talk lets just put how racist, he OBAMMA, is out of our minds and unite behind the great divider How great is the guilt the liberals feel for slavery.
The momentum story is Obama getting the nomination via the super-delegates' cautious refusal to buck the popular vote, while every day he looks weaker, thinner, and less presidential. That nightmarish feeling of marching in line into the swamp.
Hillary needs to grab the remaining superdelegates by a margin of 2:1!!! Since PA, she isn't even matching Obama 1:1. When you add the 3 coming on Monday, this gives Obama an advantage of 15/10. After all the primaries, he only needs about 25-30%% of the remaining superdelegates to win - there is no way Clinton will grab 75% of the remaining superdelegates when she is currently getting out-endorsed even AFTER he "big" PA win.

But she can always "hope" (hey, does that make her an Obama supporter?) :p
Things have really been looking up for Hillary in the last week. Obama is so far in the tank with the liberal left, that he couldn't find the political center with a compass and a map. Obama's beliefs on the issues will (finally) come out soon, and America will find out he's way out of sync with most of the American people. The gas-tax is only the tip of the ice-(Bloom)berg for Obama.

The Obama fanatics will regret wanting to focus on the issues because doing so really will not be a good result for Obama.
The question is...will they stay with HRC or switch to Obama?

Bob, Chicago
And she’s leading Obama in today’s daily Gallup tracking poll 49% to 45%

And she performs considerably better than Obama does against McCain in the three CRITICAL swing states of OH, FL and PA per today’s new Quinnipiac poll

And she has taken the lead in IN according to 2 new polls released today

And she is closing (or has closen) the gap in NC according to 3 polls released this week.

As Obama and his supporters stew in the misery of Reverend Wright!

Yes, she will!
We'll see a bunch more heading Obama's way very soon.  Obama has a lot of positive stuff happening heading into the weekend before the election... great appearances, great ads, great endorsement, he's doing a great job getting out his message, etc.

GO OBAMA!
Goooooooooooo Hillary!  We've got your back in Indiana!
you have to add the IL supers now not on Monday because then we don't have two different counts.
Political hacks from New York!  What do you expect? Obama will win this because he is honest- something NY politicians know nothing about.  But what about the New York Times' "buyers remorse."  They know now they picked a lying, pandering, corrupt loser to endorse.  Go Obama!
The reason Obama will win the SuperDelegate Race.

Two Words:  Down Ticket.

Remeber there are two battle fronts in this election.  With Obama at the top of the ticket it is most likely that Democrats could win more House and Senate Seats.  Elected officials are worried ( and rightfully so) that if Clinton is on top of the ticket they could loose the seats in the Senate and House, which would not be good if McCain would win the House against Clinton.  If McCain wins vs Obama at least we could win the House and Senate.  If they win the Majority of the Seats available it gives the Senate the ability to control the Supreme court appointments.

I want Obama to go all the way, but the bigger picture is more important.
HRC is not in the White House and she already has a foreign policy blunder.  She wanted to appear tough, but now she appears to have egg in her face.  That's what happens when you talk or act without considering all the consequences.  Bad judgement!  In return, Iran is probably going to increase its support of terrorists in Iraq.

MSNBC, report what the others are reporting not just Wright.

Yippie for Hillary... she picked up some NY Supers... however... The most significant Super is the one she LOST and Obama GAINED....

I am surprised that Hillary and her cronies have not stated that the only thing that counts is Supers... she has that lead. Apparently the only math she wants to pay attention to is ones that put her in the black... states she won, super delegates, and MI & FL... not the math that puts her in the Red... total delegates, number of states lost, caucus states, oh ya... and MONEY...

Clinton = Evil Empire
Excellent!
And they know if they don't endorse HRC, they will be toast!
Has anyone at the DNC figured out yet that the problem is too many super-delegates?
HRC is using her you all to get the nomination.
*******
Tucson, and you don't think Obambi is using you?  While he was behind closed doors in SF, it seems to me Obambi showed he had USED a whole lot of "typical white person(s), small town midwesterners who might go to chuch and own a gun. Seems like he called all in these groups BIGOTS.  In public, he makes like he's for "all" people but in private with a bunch of rich fat cats he showed how he feels about most of us in the U.S.  Then, combine that with his anti-American wife and preacher, his associations with shady people like Rezko and Ayers.  Obambi does not deserve to be President of the US.  He's a very dangerous person.
Dork in Tennessee,
You want Clinton or McCain?  Not Obama, right?  That is, you're voting for either Clinton, or if she's not on the ballot, then McCain in November, correct?

You realize that Clinton and Obama have the same (well, 95% the same) policy ideas vs. less than 50 with Clinton and McCain (or Obama and McCain for that matter).  So, you'd rather get less than 50% of what you want vs. 95% of what you want?  I'm intrigued.  Can you tell me why you'd take $0.50 from J Mac vs. $0.95 from Obama?  Especially in these tough economic times?  I'm sure there's a good reason, so please help.
As Obama and his supporters stew in the misery of Reverend Wright!
******
csh in IL:  Maybe the Shock Frock Wright can meet up with Michelle and Barry and have a prayer meeting.
To DRK in TN:   I will vote for McCain if Hillary gets the nomination.

Single, White, Female, 61, in Az FOR OBAMA!!
Great news!!!  Democrats can only win back the white house with Hillary. Watch all the simple minded Obama supporters whine about the Wright issue not being important and tearing down the great CHANGE candidate. Obama thinks and believes just as Wright does. He even admitted it, that is until it was hurting his reputation.
I was with him before I was against him! lier lier!
Blue mouth on fire!
Please forgive me, I said Dork in Tenn.  It should have been (and is) DRK.  I apologize, sincerely, for that error. And I ask for your forgiveness.
And, I'd still like to understand the math of less than 50 vs. 95.  Thanks.
she won that state thats why she gets all the add ons
It is obvious that Hillary will fight to the end to win the nomination, and that's a good thing. As we learn more and more about Obama, we don't like what we see. He is out of touch with America, he has no accomplishments, no experience, and no ideas. Because of this Hillary will win most, if not all of the remaining primaries. Then we will see which way the superdelegates go.

Congrats to Hill....unfortunately for you and your followers...all that, and it STILL doesn't change the race. Guys: she doesn't have a chance. period. sorry...i supported her too...but it's truly time to face the facts, and stop letting your oppinion distort the facts...

Lets get behind the Dem candidate to retake the Whitehouse!
But don't worry, with BO we've a shot at CO

# Quinnipiac Swing States

   * Florida: McCain 44, Obama 43

Clinton talks about benefits of being rich. Will this make the news?

First Read and New Wave:  When are you going to report on Obama's ties to Hamas?  If  you go to his donor list at myobama.com, you'll find the US Hamas leader as an Obama fundraiser with a link.  Barry was pretty embroiled last week with Wright, but it sure didn't get much press that the leader of Hamas announced they supported Barry for President.  And, isn't it interesting that came right after Carter left there?  What did Carter promise them on behalf of Barry?  Didn't hear any renouncement from Barry on that.  Of course, how could he when he has them listed on his website as a fundraiser? Also, if you google Obama + Kind Hearts of Terrorism, you'll find some interesting, damaging info about Barry.
Let's do some math. John Kerry received 90% of the black vote in the 2004 general election. If Hillary steals the nomination what percentage of black votes do you think she will get? I would estimate around 6%. What percentage of independents do you think will vote for Hillary? How many of the young voters that are currently excited do you think will stay home? How many republicans do you think will be energized with Hillary as the democratic nominee?

Hillary will lose by a landslide. It will be embarrassing for the democratic party. She will become a bigger pariah than Nader.
