The New York Times previews Saturday’s special election in Louisiana. “A Democrat stands a serious chance of taking a seat in the House of Representatives from Republicans in a special election here on Saturday. But to achieve that chance of victory in this Republican fortress, the candidate has labored to dissociate himself from the Democratic Party’s national leaders.”

The GOP candidate, Woody Jenkins, seems like a well-adjusted fellow...

And if the Democrat wins, then just what kind of House Dem will he be? That's the question. He will have to start running again in another year.

And no, I'm not slamming him by any chance...I don't live down there, I have no say in their election nor should I. But for me, I can understand that regions of the country are different and that every House race is its own unique entity, but it makes me wonder about the viability of the two-party system in this Country.

Maybe we'd get more done if we had a Congress full of independents who felt less loyalty to party lines and more loyalty to building coalitions of like-minded people to achieve workable solutions (big and small).

Just thinking.

(Can you tell, I'm preparing to switch to Independent if certain machinations continue to occur in my party of choice!!??)
