McCain leads Obama; Clinton steady

Posted: Friday, May 02, 2008 1:54 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
The daily Gallup tracking poll shows McCain continuing to open up a lead over Obama (48%-42%) and holding steady with Clinton (46%-45%) as he has for at least two weeks. The Democratic match up remains essentially unchanged with Clinton maintaining a 48%-46% lead over Obama. Clinton led yesterday 49%-45% and 47%-46% the two days prior. Obama had held a 10-point lead a week and a half ago.

We simply do not need a president like Obama. How can anyone with an open mind really believe that he could sit under Rev. Wright's sermons and not share his racist and vindictive perspective of America. Listen to his sermons and rants about white people. He married Obama and Michelle. He baptised his children. For 20 years Obama believed in this man. Even a few weeks ago he stated that he could no more denounce his pastor than he could the black nation or his own mother. When the heat came down on him and he was in danger politically, only then did he reject him. Even his wife said how painful this was for him to do. Wright is right on only one thing. That Obama said what he did for political reasons only. Does this not prove how Obama really feels about race and America? Is this the work of an honest man for change in government. He is a fake and cannot be trusted to lead our country. How can people say they don't trust Hillary and believe in this fraud?
Well, the McClintons campaign must be very happy with this news . . . they move up by bringing America down . . . this calls for a round of shots for everyone! :)

The forces of same rise again!
This will change after next week in Obama's favor.
:twirls finger:

Thank god Gallup's poll (of what? 1000 people?) doesn't decide the General Election (when 60+million will be casting votes)!

All General Election matchups on face value right now are pretty pointless.  Hillary and Obama are still slugging it out and some of their supporters are angry and mean-spirited towards the other.  It'll all work out... Obama will squash McCain in the General, and Hillary has no chance.  What was consistently rang true is that whenever independents voted in a primary, Obama won them.  Clinton cannot win independents against McCain because McCain pulls them so hard.  The answer to every election is independents.  It's very simple.  The superdelegates realize this.
The Gallup poll is worthless.  The leads have changed, varied, widened, narrowed, and jumped around for months now.  What the poll says today has no bearing on what it will say next week, next month, or Nov 4th.
McCain will not win once the spotlight is on him.  Clinton ties to voter suppression group WVWV exposed by National Public Radio who still takes journalism seriously!!!!

Interesting story that MSM ingnores in favor of sound bites.

Polls flux with every punch.

I'm glad to be an American. But my frustration with her bigotry has always been a source of pain as well.

Her treatment of Native Americans, Hispanics, Asians, African Americans, The Irish, the Polish, Women, and on, and on, has left me turned off to a full measure of patriotism my entire life. How can anyone embrace America's actions, 100%, and be a true patriot?

Well why shouldn't he be leading.  The way the Democrats are tearing at each other limb for limb.

This thing needs to end.   Just think about the Supreme Court, the US casualties in IRAQ when you make a choice this November.
MSNBC,mission accomplished, this is what you have been trying to do for the last month.Your tear and scare news tactics and beating to death the wright story has gotten the ratings you have craved. Now you will have something to talk about this afternoon. Not the plant that closed in Indaina because the hillbillys sent the jobs to china,or the story of hillairs staff calling the people of Indy, peice's of shit,or the Peter Paul story that is being called bigger then watergate, but no I'm sure that Andrea Mitchell will have a great story on wright!Right.
Nooooooo! No more fun and games. Hillary, gracefully drop out. Bill, take aim at McCain for a change.  Obama, suit up. Time to take back America from the right-wing.
More proof that this is far from being over and if the super delegates had any sense they would cast their vote for Hillary Clinton. Obama has been damaged beyond repair...sadly and he would not win the general because of that damage. Hillary Clinton is the best bet to taking back the White House. And to those who level Obama's problems at the feet of Hillary Clinton...I would remind them that his problems are his problems and the problems of those ignorant enough to take the words of Pastor Wright and hold him accountable for those words. This is unfortunately what appears to be happening. Mrs. Clinton believes she would make a better president and remains persistent in her fight...I applaud her and cheer her on.
The only polls that count are those like NC and Indiana on Tuesday.

The matchup remains the same:  Senator Obama still leads in pledged delegates and states won...and don't talk of popular vote if you're going to leave out caucus states that don't give accurate turnout numbers.

So why the change in the opinion polls from 10 days ago?  Well, based on the reporting, Senator Clinton is believed to be "fighting back" with a chance at the nomination.

The matchup remains the same:  Senator Clinton needs 70% of the remaining pledged delegates to take the lead when all of the primaries are done based on the current math.

Sure, she can claim the right to continue if she wins Indiana but 1 or 2 points doesn't help her.
I hope it is noted as well that McCain is out there with nobody or the media looking at everything he does or says and with the full backing of the RNC. McCain has made plenty of mistakes and his policy positions go unchallenged. So I think his lead is meaningless at this point until our nomination process is over.
Congratulations MSM, including MSNBC, on leveling the playing field.  You have accomplished your stratetic goals for this election.  You have shaped the outcome, now we can all live without healthcare, social security, and medicare.  HRC nor McCain can get any of these accomplished and now our greatest hopes have been dashed.  You guys will be able to cover the fight with no results for the next 8 years.  The Zogby polls show that Obama at 50 and Clinton at 34 in NC but you guys prefer to just cover handpicked results.  Shame on you.
I think it's time for the SDs to pick the candidate that can actually win in November. We are seeing more and more middle class Americans swing toward Hillary; she is proving that she is the better candidate.

No one wants to revisit 1988...
ELECTIBILITY PEOPLE, THINK ABOUT IT. HILLARY WOULD CLEAN THAT OLD MAN'S CLOCK.
Once the 24/7 Wright bashing stops, I'm sure that McCain's numbers will go down.
Nothing will be better than the contrast of a young Barack Obama debating a hunched back, stumbling old John McCain.  The fact that right wing, operation kaos rushies, and Sean Calamity are still pulling for Hillary syas it all.  The right wants Hillary so they can run an old style campaign.  On Hardball, an excellent point was made, it may have been Chuck, that McCain will run on integrity and abilities as commander and chief against Hillary's horrible untrustworthy polling numbers.  The Right knows this big time.  War hero who can be trusted vs. Mrs Imaginary Sniper Queen or McCain vs. the outsid ethe belt politician with the crazy racist reverand.  I'll take the guy with the crazy reverand to go up against McSame any day.
MSNBC should be proud of itself. The wall-to-wall coverage of the Rev. Wright is finally having its desired effect. Matthews spent almost a HALF HOUR yesterday on this non-issue while McCain is getting away with flip-flops, double-talk, and outright lies.

And the corporate media is also ignoring the scandals like the one over the 1992 incident in which McCain exploded into  highly abusive and obscene language at his own wife in front of witnesses for the offense of playfully mussing up his hair.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/01/mccain-asked-did-you-call_n_99744.html

The guy clearly does not have both oars in the water, but the corporate media wants to get him elected president so they can get good deals on telecom laws. But what will their corporate profits profit them if this crackpot is elected and then decides one day to launch a nuclear exchange with another country because he happens to be in a very bad mood?

Geez, talk about a grim outlook!!!
And after the steady drip of supers reaches its peak  next Wednesday after the primaries these numbers will be a think of the past. And once Obama gets the nod he will begin taking on McCain on the top 2 issues facing America right now: The Economy and The War. Two areas where McCain is joined at the hip with the failure of the Bush Administration. This is the last week McCain will have a lead in the tracking polls so he'd better enjoy it.
