Hillary: Obama is out of touch

Posted: Sunday, May 04, 2008 9:45 AM by Mark Murray

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
INDIANAPOLIS -- Days before the primary in Indiana and North Carolina, Hillary Clinton’s argument has become increasingly clearer -- that she thinks Barack Obama is out of touch with the concerns of ordinary voters.

Clinton returned to the Hoosier State last night for an outdoor rally featuring John Mellencamp, whose small-town lyrics have become omnipresent at her rallies. Speaking to thousands, she again touted her plan for a gas tax holiday paid for by a windfall oil profits tax, saying she wants to “see us finally stand up and fight for you and fight against the oil companies.”

“Now, my opponent doesn’t agree with me,” she said. “He doesn’t think that the oil companies should pay the tax, he thinks that you should pay the tax. Well, I’m sorry, I think that’s just one more indication that he’s not understanding what’s going on in so many people’s lives.”

She extended that criticism to the home foreclosure crisis and health care, saying she first proposed taking action on the former, and that his plan on the latter is inadequate because not everyone is covered.

“I think you have to decide for this election on Tuesday who’s on your side and who you can count on to stand up for you and to work for you and to fight for you,” she said.

The rally had some light moments as it began, when former President Bill Clinton was late for his scheduled introduction by Sen. Evan Bayh. Trying to fill time, Bayh decided to introduce Sen. Clinton, and began alluding to a comment from a union leader earlier this week who said Clinton had the “testicular fortitude” to be commander in chief.

“Any of you see what he said? Our candidate is the one in the race …” he began, when Clinton shushed him. “She didn’t want me to go there, OK, I won’t.”

He then made way for Clinton, before her husband belatedly worked his way on stage.

“C’mon Bill!” she said. “C’mon up and take a look at this great crowd. Evan was actually introducing you and then we were sort of stalling until you got here.”

The former president spoke only briefly, saying he’s visited 39 communities in Indiana, six that day.

“And they’re all going for Hillary on Tuesday!” he said.

If we fail to learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it...  never forget.

JUST SAY NO TO clinGons!
Seems to me Bill Clinton's impeachment is fair game. He was the one who is responsible. If he or Hillary doesn't want people to bring it up, then he shouldn't have done it in first place knowing full well she was working her way to the presidency when it was happening. If the Rev Wright is game, then so his impeachment.  This affected the whole country, Rev Wright didn't
I am a Obama supporter, and in all fairness to Msnbc and the rest of the MSM, if they were to cover all the campaigns fairly Obama would have been the democratic nominee since the end of March. With the economy doing as bad as it is, the people who make up the MSM have bills to pay, so they are financially invested in this race going all the way. This is the only reason why the MSM have been piling up on Obama. It's not personal.
Out of touch? Out of touch, sez Hillary.  Ouch.  What a pandering blunder.  This from a multi-millionaire, gated community broad!  Unbelieveable.  Where does Barack live?  What did Barack do for a living while Hillary was comforably ensconsed in the Alabama governor's mansion.  Who does Hillary represent if not the highly up-scale New Yorkers?

Out of touch?  What chuzpah.  This woman is so out of touch with me that it makes me crazy.

Go back home Hillary, we're tired of your trashy campaign.

Here is why we as interested dnc party members have to be very careful in choosing Hillary Clinton on Tuesday.

First of all, to overcome the odds, she is at this time a huge long shot. Regardless of our vote in Indiana, she will have to convince the hand of super delegates to back her. Super delegates are in turmoil now because of the scandal of Peter Paul vs. the Clinton's which ultimately will hit the news lines much harder than a Jeremiah Wright or bitter-gate remarks.

Obama may have baggage, but the Clinton scandals are considered by party powers as already magnificent and many know the Clinton foundation funds are not all above board. Even today she dodged the donor issue on ABC.

Also remember, her husband goes back into the wall of our countries most sacred home having committed infidelity in those very halls. He is one of only two American presidents to have been impeached. The GOP blogs are built are really ugly, you only have to go to the web to begin finding them. They are infuriating but nonetheless much more inflammatory than those built against the Illinois senator.

Lastly, Clinton as nominee will see a huge number of new registered voters along with the money they have been donating to the dnc party going to a third party such as Ralph Nader or will simply stay home.  The Paul scandal is so magnificent, she simply won't be able to gather the votes to overcome a GOP ticket.  Here are a few of the Paul vs. Clinton blogs:

Please use common sense verses misinformed opinion, your vote may make a difference for Americans all around this great country.
Barack HUSSIEN Obama is so full of himself.  He can't wear a Flag pendant on his jacket because of his religion.  Is that what he was told by reverend Wright?  Obama also is unamerican when he says Flordia votes don't count.  Its not the floridian's fault they were told to vote on a certain day.  Everyone of us here vote when we are told to vote.  So anyone who says flordia and Michigans people don't get a say in this election are true unamerican.  Obama knows this.  Because if Florida and Michigan (big states) people have their say, Hillary will get the nomination.  Barack can't even shake of his former minister.  How will he be able to defend America.  Two words describe Obama.  NO EXPERIENCE.   You watch, he can not win. The only votes he can count on here on out is that of the Black vote.  He is slowly coming back to reality.  His fairy tale run is over.
Hillary is out of touch with families. She was out of touch in the nineties when she mocked stay-at-home moms and she is today when she mocks those of us who ARE bitter about the tough economic times. She is out of touch with families when she acts self righteous about Barack's pastor but yet she is married to a man who acts like a dog and lied about it under oath.

In Barack Obama, I see a family man who wants to do what is right, not what is politically opportunistic.

I am a 46 year old mom who is hoping beyond hope that America gets it right this time.
