Clinton's gas tax holiday proposal is in the main no different than what the predatory lender scam.

Both are bait and switches, both prey on working people's need to save money, both employ illusory promises.

I wish Obama would make this argument. He IS arguing that oil companies would raise prices and there'd be no actual savings at the pump. But IMO, he should tie that in with the predatory lending scam to show that in both cases the "haves," duped/are duping the "have nots" with the lure of saving money while hiding the big picture truth.

The lenders made money, but their scam resulted in economic turmoil. Clinton will get votes, but the end result will be divisiveness and more gridlock. Both involve deception and cheating.

And both scams are dishonest and elitist. The mutual mantra: Dupe 'em, take 'em, move on.

IMO, Obama should be talking to voters on this level. He IS calling Clinton's plan a "shell game." But why not also show voters that it's the same kind of shell game the predatory lenders ran on them. No one's unclear on how rotten that one was.

Think about...

THE HILLARY PLAN:

- Give people $30 bucks over 3 months.
- Kill 600,000 construction jobs in the process.
- Pay for it with money you already spent on something else.
- Drive the demand for Gas UP! [Causing prices to rise further]

I think Obama is definitely telling the truth about this issue.....she is really desperate to think that people and voters in general would fall for this.Then again....why should voters be surprise??..Hilary doesnt and never has pumped her own gas and i doubt Mccain has either.Hell, atleast Obama and Michelle admitted they are human like the rest of us being that they are both paying off student loans.

He is also showing that she is the elitist if she believes that saving working class families 30 cents a day for a grand total of $30 for the summer is helpful when the oil companies will raise the price of gas to compensate the loss of the gas tax. This will also cost 300,000 jobs in highway. She appears to be out of touch not Obama.

It's about time. I can only hope Clinton supporters in small towns like mine see that she is underestimating their ability to understand politics, economics, and ethics.  There is nothing elitist about having faith in the intelligence of working-class middle Americans. Rather, elitism is most manifest when its politics relies on voters' misunderstanding of or ignorance of economics, and when it appeals to a perceived dependence on the immediate appearance of economic benefit. Kudos to the Obama campaign for refusing to underestimate us.

Good for Obama.  The gas tax 'holiday' is a despicable lie - should be called the 'national infrastructure funding holiday' or the 'global warming response holiday' or the 'last hurrah for SUV dinosaurs holiday'   (not unlike the 'last hurrah for 1990's dynasties holiday').  the next 4 years will be a critical test of whether a democracy can face major long-term threats - financial and environmental, as well as terrorism - which will require leadership that tells the truth, and is believed to be telling the truth.    

Noticed Obama is up 4 points against Hilliary in the Gall poll.  Wondered if you MSNBC guys will jump on that news today like you did when he was down??

The ad says it all.  Voters have a real choice and need to weigh their choice carefully.  This world needs an authentic leader who understands that complex problems can't be solved with gimmicky solutions that are being touted to win an election.

Clinton pandering with a disastrous gas-tax holiday.  Obama knows this won't work, because he learns from experience and admits mistakes, unlike Clinton, who still can't apologize for her rush to war with Bush. My brother and I were just talking, he has to give up his health insurance to pay for the gas to get to work.  So when Hillary talks about having us be mandated to pay for insurance, even to the point of wage garnishments, how do we exactly find the money to do that?  If he can't even get to work, how can he pay insurance? I had to give up my cholesterol medication,because my daughter takes 3 meds that we must get every month.  Insurance did not help me there.  What are we supposed to do?  

Sad thing is that thousands of people will fall for her crap. Too many people in this country are willing to sell their vote for $30. It's disgusting!

All week we've been hearing about Obama can't get the middle class white voters when in fact he has and he has gotten the young, old, rich, poor, black and white. HE has the most votes, most pledged delegates, most fund rising money, most senate bearing super delegates and you want to know why he can’t close the deal with white middle class? Let’s define who these people are shall we?

Are these the people that already had a racial bias against any black man as President?  Are these the people that ready decided (with their parents and grandparents influence) they will NEVER vote for a black man? We will never know these questions because this would turn the cameras on the media and their style of reporting; hiding their personal fears behind hard working voters. Pushing their personal agenda behind white working class workers based on their own bias and prejudices.

Those white middle class voters who will not support Obama is not an OBAMA problem; as the news media already know. He's not responsibility for their generational bias. They fear change and they fear that having a black man in office will promote some kind of payback and somehow let 'lose' the black community on these small town voters and take what they  are already struggling with; jobs, security, food, education.

This problem is CLASS not RACE! This is NOT Obama’s problem to solve. These issues should have been solved with Bill Clinton but he failed!

But let’s get to the REAL story you should be reporting: why can't Hillary court the BLACK voters?

Now I know keeping the focus on WHY can't OBAMA do thus and so but you NEVER asked Hillary WHY she can't close the deal after so many years of experience, after being in the public's eye for 35 years this thing should have been closed BEFORE Feb. 5th.  But I know, that's not a story, the real story is OBAMA and eating his flesh for ratings in the most racist attack way I've ever seen in my life.

Does ANYONE who is considering a vote for Hillary based on her Gas Tax Holiday think/believe that:

1) on DAY ONE after her "win", there will be a Gas Tax Holiday?
2) the Senate would have a bill to write, vote on, and pass before the summer is over?  the House would do the same?
3) that President BUSH would sign a bill to eliminate gas taxes for the summer AND force oil companies to foot the bill?
4) that all of the economic experts and advisers who say this is the WORST possible idea and would do much more harm than good are wrong?

PLEASE.  It will Never EVER HAPPEN.   Not this summer.  Not any time soon.  

This is indeed a typical, political Gimmick, Game whatever for votes.  Hillary is not what America needs now.

It's simple for me.

Do I lean toward a Democratic candidate who has admittedly stumbled on occasion yet shown and accepted responsibility for their HUMAN flaws, talked to me like I have more than half a brain, and inspires me to be a better woman, person, and citizen? Or do I lean toward the candidate that promises quick-fix gimmicks, talks out of both sides of their mouth while pocketing money on the downlow from speeches made by their "looking for the glory days again" spouse in countries where NAFTA advantages reign while American workers have and are continuing to lose  their jobs at an alarming rate, and hasn't been able to manage their campaign spending since the word GO yet claims to understand my pain while exhibiting the ethical morals of an alley cat, as they inspire me to turn off my TV every time they appear?

Mmmm...decisions, decisions.  

This has been said and done before and it simply does not work.

If the 18 cents were passed to the consumer it could have some short term affect but the bottom line is it will not.  Even if the oil company's said or agreed that they will not raise prices.  (Isn't that price fixing?)

Sad thing is many will believe this because it simply sounds good.

The price we pay at the pump is determined by the market (supply/demand).  The market would simply adjust to "consume" the very 18 cents we were supposed to get. Why?  Because demand will go up.  This is economics 101

But people will believe what is fed to them... Not all but enough to get some votes.  The ones who know this is silly will let it roll off but this is sad because we (the American People) get fed this stuff and many consume it without thought or counter points to present the entire picture.

Great commercial.  Hoosiers are smart enough to see through the Clinton political rhetoric.  We can end this misery on Tuesday by voting for hope and truth and change.  Vote for Obama

God Trev, do you not watch the news? He uses the fact that he voted for it, they tried it and it didn't work to explain why he's against this at this time. We might actually have a president that LEARNS from his mistakes.

Trev--Senator Obama voted for it in Illinois, as a state legislater.  It was there that they all learned  it did not work and caused problems.  So, he has experience with this issue and because of that experience, he says it is not a good idea.  Hillary, will not even listen to reason.  She just plows ahead without thought of consequence.

After Obama's win of Guam, I noticed that the media has not acknowledged that it was suppose to go to Hillary as late as Friday evening -- are there no blue collar workers Guam (blue collar workers come in all shades and colors throughout the USA to include the outside of connus).

Trev: Obama stated clearly on Meet the Press and in his speeches that he did support the tax holiday plan and it didn't work for the reasons he outlined in his ad.

He was clear that the rollback approved in Illinois backfired and that he learned from his mistake.

Why is no one saying that it takes a majority vote in both Houses of Congress and George Bush’s signature to make this a reality?   Does anyone honestly believe that this really has a snowball’s chance?  In three weeks (the start of summer)?  This is all about Tuesday’s elections.

He then voted to repeal it -- when it became clear that consumers were not getting any benefit from it
