HRC kees up populist message, visits DQ

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
SOUTH BEND, IN -- Hillary Clinton, her voice hoarse as the latest round of primaries approaches, kept up her populist message here this afternoon, telling a small crowd of supporters that she is “unabashed” and “unapologetic” about her fight for the middle class.

“Let’s just do this final push,” she said outside her campaign’s field office here before volunteers were set to canvass the neighborhood. “We came from so far behind in Indiana. We’re still the underdog, but we are moving forward, and we’re moving forward because of you, because of the help I’ve received across this state.”

Her remarks again included a pitch for her gas-tax plan, and a comparison of her health-care plan and Obama’s, which she called inadequate. “It would be wonderful if all you had to do is show up in Washington say, ‘Health insurance companies, quit exploiting Americans,” she said, critiquing Obama’s approach. “I would like to believe that we would have just massive conversions... But I think we can take them on.”

Clinton has been keeping an active schedule all week, and it began to show as she started to lose her voice here. “I’ve been talking all the time,” she said, before asking for a lozenge. “We have been talking non stop for days now... See that’s why we need universal health care.”

Running ahead of schedule, Clinton followed up the stop with a trip to the local Dairy Queen, where she ordered a Snickers Blizzard. “Two of my favorite things -- ice cream and Snickers,” she said as she spooned bite after bite.

Clinton, joined by Sen. Evan Bayh, was asked by one customer if the two would run as a ticket. "First things first," Bayh said. Clinton, speaking with her mouth full, echoed the sentiment, saying they first had to get the nomination.

She needs to stick with the coffee machine at the gas station!
HRC can eat as many blizzards as she wants but she will never be the nominee.
Hey Hill!  How was that Buster Bar??  Please stop!  You have and are soo wrong on many issues.
seems hillary is always talking with her mouth full. full of hatred, full of venom, full of bull shit, full of herself, full of lies, why not just shut your fowl mouth and go home to you $109 and million and leave the real work to a pro .
GO OBAMA
http://www.artba.org/economics_research/current_issues/indiana-illinois_gas_tax_2001_.pdf

The gas tax holiday is a big give away to the oil companies.

My vote is for Obama.
Hillary needs to quit pandering and get honest which is a big order for her!
Obama elite and out of touch.  Clinton a fighter for American values and not G D America as associated with Rev. Wright.

Seems like an easy vote for me.

Hillary 2008!
Think about...

THE HILLARY PLAN:

- Give people $30 bucks over 3 months.
- Kill 600,000 construction jobs in the process.
- Pay for it with money you already spent on something else.
- Drive the demand for Gas UP! [Causing prices to rise further]

Wow... I can't believe someone actually made the worst president in US history look smart.

Thanks Hillary!

http://laststopmidwest.blogspot.com/
IF that happens I(a first time voter) am thru with the Dems. I cant believe the garbage that this woman says. And for the life of me can't understand why so many people are listening. But i guess all of you none elitist aka dumb people must really like Stupid, Divisive, and Pandering people for President. Maybe you should all go have a beer and a shot with GWB and HRC and leave the running of the country up to the smart people.

Obama 08
Mike, and Mark,

Are you serious with this First Read article at 9:51 pm on a Sunday night, giving us Hillary's talking points, laryngitis and all, because she can't afford tv ads?

She has her people out canvassing, after 9:00 on a Sunday night, knocking on doors? This tells me she's broke, can't afford tv ads, and as a result, has had to literally talk herself out!

Unbelievable. This is beyond desperate. You have'nt given us any polling numbers today, but we don't need them now. Hillary, with her pathetic Sunday night pleading, tells me all I need to know.

It is not like Hillary to work very hard when she feels she's about to be coronated. Maybe there is good news afoot for team Obama!

Clinton/Bayh, yes that sounds like a good ticket for Mayor and Vice Mayor of Indianopolis. It's a winner.
The woman is "unapologetic" about anything...I guess because she never makes mistakes...especially when she is out fighting the good fight for the middle class.  And we better hurry and get that universal health care passed cuz she has a hoarse voice and we all know it would financially break her if she had to pay for a trip to the doctor???  I can't believe that people out there fall for this line of crap.  But then again, what does my opinion matter...I am educated so therefore; my opinion does not matter according to Hillary.  You know, I am a life long republican but plan on voting for Obama if he makes it but it is becoming more and more obvious to me why I have been a lifelong republican...Did anyone see Howard Dean on Fox tonight???  This guy is really the "leader"?  I just don't get it...I wish Obama was running as an independent.  He is better than all of this...I mean really!
Sen Clinton goes around and tell the voter what she would like to happen for the people of this great nation (was really great), some of it stick in guts for some and other are trilled by it.  I'm still on the boarder about is the devil and who is the savour.  Who can beat the Republician dirty politic?  How we as voter can get our ballets counted for change.

In 2000 election, in Fl over 1 millon vote were toss out because the Rep challaged them and almot 2 million nation wide. In 2004 election, over 3 million votes were challaged and toss out.  in Ohio alone, over 65000 votes were casted out.  in the 2006, midturn election over 6 million votes were tossed out and we still change the Senate and House.  The majority of these ballets were Minority  Democrates voters
who cares
109 millon dollars (and more if she's hiding it) and she thinks she can relate to middle class folks; good god.  I guess she forget about her comment on Fox News; Rich people; God bless us; she doesn't care about this country, she cares only for the vote and the challenge to beat the other two candidates, that her drive and nothing else.  I will never vote for her in my lifetime. I will vote for a smart intelligent woman that doesn't whine every time she opens her mouth.

Let's see if this gets posted......
“Let’s just do this final push,” she said outside her campaign’s field office here before volunteers were set to canvass the neighborhood. “We came from so far behind in Indiana. We’re still the underdog, but we are moving forward"

umm.... she was up by 10 points just a month ago.  how stuipd does she think the people of Indiana are?
Clinton should not be the president of the USA.  She is dishonest and say and do anything to win.

News from the Dairy Queen:

Ice cream and Snickers.

Speaking with her mouth full.

Here's another Dairy Queen confection for you to chew on:

There is no campaign, no final push.

This is the 4th quarter of the Celtics-Hawks game 7.

Played out for the sponsors.  Sell a little beer and go home.

In this case, the sponsors are your friendly "news" journalists... MSM, insurance salesmen, Wired Willy Lomans, whatever.

No money down and no payments...EVER!!!

Hillary can win 'em all and still has no chance.

Nada.

Obama ain't mad, because he knows something the average lumpen doesn't: the game is over.  Done.

Listen to Chuck. How many ways can he say it without saying it with a straight face?

This is PIG in the barnyard until the sun goes down and Obama has all the numbers... his only goal now is to win without punking his "challenger," at least so's it shows.

Here's another snicker for you Hillary!  Just keep your mouth full and... keep talking.

Is that the buzzer I hear or is it Bill's pacemaker going off?

Burp.

Oh, she's unabashed and unapologetic alright, but it has nothing to do with the middle class.  It's all about Hillary Clinton and her relentless quest for the nomination.

This is a national contest, with international coverage.  Between her own outrageous comments and those of her really classy surrogates this weekend, her campaign is becoming more of a circus than I could have ever imagined way back when, when I actually supported this ridiculous candidate.

Wow, that was a close one!

Hillary will be driving a tractor and dipping Skoal by tomorrow. Disgusting chamelion of a woman. Let's end this spectacle Tuesday.
I've been a passive, interested observer, but something seems weird on First Page of late.

Not exactly a ton of journalism or equitable coverage going on; Six Hillary articles, 2 Obama articles.  I thought MSNBC was getting hammered for being Obama's network.  Guess that won't be an issue if this keeps up.

I really respect the journalists on NBC's team but would hope someone's monitoring such things.  It's already obvious that the media prolonged this campaign when HRC honestly didn't have a chance after Jr. Super Tuesday.  Wonder what the agenda is now...

Bayh was BOOed when he mentioned Hillary in his speech.
Allright Obama cultists here are the code words so you can release another torrent of Hillaryhate: unapologetic and unabashed. If your savior had said it the posts would gush about his strength and perseverance. Same words fro Clinton and the Obamabots are programmed to whine about "do anything to win" and "pandering". Thanks heavens we wil soon be saved by the pure, holy Obama and his magic powers.
Wow - DQ - cannot afford it.  Too expensive for me.
10 days of gas savings.
It's obvious she's got nothing left to lose.  Take the gas tax stunt.  It's typical of her tactics these days.  She's banking on people not hearing or not understanding the rebuttal to her plan before voting time this Tuesday.  In the short run, it will probably work.

In the long run, however, even those who went for her will eventually hear the truth about the gas tax holiday scheme, and see it go down in flames in Congress.  She's eating the seed corn, folks, and she'll be awefully hungry for voters who still trust her come November.

Thank goodness it's mathematically impossible for her to win, so we'll never have to take bets on how much crow she can eat.  Those Clinton voters who find out after the fact that they've been had will be all the more enthusiastic to vote for her rival Obama in November.

Maybe she's right.  Maybe her scheme to drag this out will help the Dems in November, just not the way she intended it.
Hillary, dear,
Please take care of yourself.  Make certain that you are getting a good night's sleep, stay away from an unnecessary stress, eat regularly, and take your vitamins.  Be sure that you relax whenever it is possible, take lots of vitamin C and E, as both are good for your throat and your lungs; we are fast approaching the 'funny season' that comes when the weather changes, sometimes drastically. Be sure you take an umbrella when you go out-of-doors, and as sure as May is to come with the belated showers  of May, you must keep wearing slacks.  They not only will hide the gathering thickness of your thighs (giggle!), make you look sleeker, but keep you warmer.  I, as you mother, am interested that you stay strong to the very end.  I want you to have all of your strength while you have to make your concession speech to that awful Obama!  If you are not strong, dear, you will, most likely, be wanting to break down when you wish him well in his continued quest to the White House.
I love you, dear.
Mom
Hillary, a "populist?"  The $109 million lady, who hasn't pumped her own gas since . . . oh, 1992 -- a "populist?"  The one who said, "Screw 'em, Bill.  You don't owe them a thing?"  A "populist?"  Yeah, right, and I'm the queen of England!  ROFLMFAO!!
What does her hoarse voice have to do with universal health care?  Does she not have health insurance?  If you take the time to really look at the things that she says they are really quite absurd.
And when was she so far behind in Indiana?  She does know what she is talking about.
GO HILLARY GO YOU ARE THE BEST IN MY BOOK.
Vote for Hillary to save the Democratic party. Vote for Obama to give the keys to the GOP!
We have a derailed Congress and these two clowns are just not what America is about!! Nuke Iran Now and show , there be no more bluffing. Why wait, so sad we always pay a very high price,,, and who says they haven't got the material into the country to build a dirty bomb?? according to these two clowns, nothing has been said that has not been said a thousand times,,, such Washington self serving paper hanging lip service,, hodden agendas and hollow shallow promises!!!  If these promises are the solution,, then why aren't they in Washington enacting these solutions ,,"""Instead of running their mouths  ""Just to make their self serving promises look so good!!! such pure Washington self serving paper hanging useless waste of tax payer money!!!!!!
If Clinton's healthcare plan is "adequate", why couldn't she get it passed in the 90's?  If her gas tax plan is so wonderful, why don't economists support it?  She says she's all about fighting for the middle class, but her gas tax policy, if it could indeed be implemented, would only drive up gas prices by causing too much demand. Oil is a limited commodity, and nothing she can promise will change that!  She is making empty promises and raising false hopes.  Obama gives us honest answers and real solutions. Thus, he gets my vote.

--a forty-something white female from Texas
Does Obama have a FR-contributing reporter, following him around??  No reports on Obama.  I'm not a stickler for parity but its getting VERY one-sided on coverage.
Um, when was she "so far behind in Indiana".   Hasn't she basically been ahead in all of the polls, except for a few days where Obama was up by at most 5 points?  How about a little actual reporting First Read?
Hillary is taking her aggression way overboard. You can be firm and direct without being abrasive. Her provocative statement on Iran questions her diplomacy in foreign policy. I do believe she would make a god VP for John McCain. Both seem to believe you should shoot first and ask question afterwards. This would not be good for America, especially at this time. Also her position as the underdog is ludicrous. The name Clinton is synonymous in politics with Kennedy and Bush so how can she say she is the under dog. Last year most Americans did not know Barack Obama, so if there is an under dog it has to be him. What she fails to admit is the under dog Obama who she did not give any chance against her is giving her a run for her money. Like Big Brown he is ahead and it appears she will be trailing, just like Eight Bells. She is presently running herself ragged on the campaign trail and whilst I really want Obama to win, she has to be careful with her health to avoid breaking down at the end of the race for nomination.
God, do you guys love Clinton, or what?  Oh, and bad news!  Collective media heartbreak at the news that no one (besides you) gives a rat's patootie about Rev. Wright. Sorry. Take comfort in one another!
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/05/us/politics/05poll.html?hp
Oh, Hill. Should've gone for a dilly bar.
I'm looking forward to your story of Clinton's Gun Mailer which has backfired on her. She uses a gun that doesn't exist, which any serious gun user would recognise. Just another example of a transparent pander.
I am a big fan  / supporter of Hillary cuz she is a no non-sense person with a conviction and passion to return America back to the people

Steve P., Washington
I'd vote for hillary or obama. But for CLINTON, MCCAIN OR OBAMA THE GAS TALK IS ALL GAS: none of them can or will pass a bill to affect anything. It is pure TALK and no possibility to ACT. Neither Hillary or Republican Agenda MCcain could get such a bill through the senate. The people are being taken for a fools gold ride. The most sad thing is that plenty of people believe that this might happen. Why is this not even in the news as a REALITY CHECK? Do McCain and Clinton think they can just bully the congress, the senate and the current president into signing some bill that they are talking about only to get votes? SHAME ON THE PRESS FOR NOT TAKING THIS ON.
A Clinton/Bayh ticket would be a good one against McCain they could get back those Reagan-Democrats.
48 hours from now, Obama will be within 190 votes of the nomination. Hillary should save her money. It's over ... she could win both primaries Tuesday (though she won't and might win neither) and it wouldn't change the race, just give the talking heads something to talk about. Over. Over. Sorry Montana and South Dakota ... we know you're waiting to put Obama over the top, but it will be anti-climax, I'm afraid.
Just because Hillary voted to take us to war in Iraq, There is no need to be concerned that she is now threatening to obliterate Iran is there?  She wouldn't really drop nuclear weapons would she?  Most of what she says is just hype isn't it?
I see you are full of HRC...but people are not buying your bias anymore. People are tired your serenades about patriotism and flag pins and Rev.Wright. They can figure it themselves. HRC would be better to switch to Republican Party because she knows their tactics very well and not just she knows but she uses it too.
Wasn't it the same guy Byah who criticized Clintons for closing factory Magnequench in Indiana? I wonder how much he received or which position he was promised to receive if (hope it is not going to happen) Clintons returned back to White House and disgusted all of us by new affairs and scandals like in 90s. Seems like all friends of Clintons have the same amnesia like all MSM.
Get a few laughs:

For the importance of pandering in campaigns, please scope out the Onion:

http://www.theonion.com/content/video/poll_bullshit_is_most_important

Oh, now a DQ with a plug for Snickers too.

Same playbook as shots with a beer chaser.

I'd like to see some video of this.
...There's NO way she's seen a DQ menu-board in at LEAST ten years.  Watching her order would be as fun as watching her learn how to use the gas station cappacino machine.
Oh, I didn't realize Obama's health care plan was so juvenile, Mike.

Whenever MSNBC.com is ready for good journalism and writing, let me know.
Dear HRC,
