Delegate update: Four more for Obama

Posted: Monday, May 05, 2008 3:19 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama has picked up four more superdelegates today; Clinton has picked up none.

Three Maryland delegates were scheduled to hold a 2:30 p.m. ET press conference in College Park, Md., to announce their endorsements of Obama: former Gov. Parris Glendening, Democratic Party Chairman Michael Cryor and Vice chairwoman Lauren Dugas Glover. (Note: We already had Cryor on our list and added in Glendening over the weekend when he was named an add-on. Glover is new in our count, so she is added in.)

Obama officially picks up the three Illinois add-ons: Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Illinois House Maj. Leader Barbara Flynn Currie and Cook County Board President Todd Stroger. (They were announced Thursday, but were not added into our count until today when they were made official at a state party meeting.)

The Delegate Counts:
SUPERDELEGATES: Clinton 273-258
PLEDGED: Obama 1,492-1,338
OVERALL: Obama 1,750-1,611

- There are 264 undeclared superdelegates.
- Since the Pennsylvania primary: It's Obama +21, Clinton +11.
- Since Super Tuesday, Feb. 5: It's Obama +88, Clinton +13.
- Since Junior Super Tuesday, March 4: It's Obama +45, Clinton +20.

Woo Hoo! Keep dripping them in Obama! Tomorrow ends this thing and we can move on!

http://www.politivine.com
Oh happy day!
Time to take the high road.
Thank you, MSNBC, for FINALLY posting this. You are fast becoming "LAST READ."

Indiana and NC:  Please help us end this thing, and unite our party so we can beat McCain.  Hillary's only interest is in obliteration of the Dem Party, then Iran.  That's NOT what our party stands for.

Go Obama!
The only super delegates I respect are those who vote the way their district, city, and/or state voted.  All supers should vote like the voters, cause they are just not super enough to do otherwise.
Hey Domenico this is great news, but what about the superdelegate from Oklahoma Kalyn Free, she announced today as well.
Hillary continues to play as mean and nasty as one can be, yet Obama keeps picking up people.
Hillary can fool some of the voters some of the time, but she has trouble with the politically savvy, and pure of heart supers.

It's a beautiful day, in Obama-ville!
After tomorrow, just 180 left for Obama to gain out of 480 on the table. Can she beat him 301-179 and get all 18 Edwards votes? No. She can't.
I find it hilarious that by his momentum within the superdelegates, he will likely pass Hillary in the count by the end of the month, maybe within two weeks even. Clinton used to use the superdelegates as a way for her to win the nomination, but now her lead is miniscule, and her chances are growing slimmer by the day.

Drop out Hillary, you're done. You can't win. You're just hurting the party and helping the Republicans.

Vote Democrat in 2008!
So what does Barack Obama offer us?

Nothing. Zero. Zip. He attacks Hillary and her health  care plan. He attacks her gas tax holiday.

Stop attacking and offer us something besides hope.
What is that?
Thank You Super Delagates!  Here's to the rest showing Senator Clinton the door by agreeing with Chairman Andrews remarks last week for the good of the Party!

Obama 2008 - The candidate for All of us
THANK GOD!

YOU'RE A LITTLEL ATE BUT THE RESULTS ARE STILL GOING OUR WAY!

DRIP, DRIP, DRIP...
What is the media going to say when Obama overtakes Hillary in Super-D's?  I am sure MSNBC will continue to downplay it to further prolong this agonizing process.  15 to tie, 16 to lead.  Hillary has one foot in the political grave.
Superdelegates, keep the courage coming.
Why doesn't MSNBC just give a count when the super delegates "officially" go for Obama? It seems kinda redundant to repeat the same info dayin and dayout - 2 more today, but not officially until Tuesday, 1 more officially today, but we already mentioned them last week, 2 more but...
Take it easy MSNBC, when the super delegate counts are ready and official, mention it.
Dear Fellow Americans,

Our Great-grand Nation, the United States of America
is and will face very critical "Challenges" in coming,
months, years, and decades.  It is very essential that
we pick out next President on following criteria.

1. A candidate with "Vision and Statesmanship".

2. A candidate with " Stable Character and Morality" .

3. A candidate with "Presidential Temperament" and
"sound Judgment".

4. A candidate with "little Washington exposure"  and
"connectedness with New voters".

5. A candidate who "Inspires us up" rather  than
"Tears
us down".

In my professional opinion there is only one candidate
left, who bears all the above qualities aand that is
Honorable Senator Obama.

As an independent registered voter since 1974. I voted
for Carter, voted for Reagan, voted for First  Bush,
and second Bush in 2000. In the process last interest
and stopped voting.

This time we can not afford to stay on side lines and
let Washington stay the same.

We can not afford our Greatgreat Nation to become less
than what we are  and can be.

We need to send clear and candid message to the world
and some 24 hour partisan hateful media. These media
outlets are trying to deprive, dupe, and derail us
from getting it right this time.

They are trying there best to deny us better rather
than bitter future. { Our Greatgrand Nations people
are
persistently and constantly subjected to Psychological
terrorism" thru these hatful partisan media outlets.

We Americans are not going to allow them
psychologically terrorized us and silence the masses.
I am sure that we will get it right this
time and elect Senator Obama our next President. let
us not get dragged down into racism and sexism.

Let us remember that our Greatgrand is constituted of
family, fellowships, friends, faith, funds, fun,
future with fairness and freedom and without fear or
favor.

We can not afford to lose any of above. Let us stand
up, be counted, save, build our Greatgrand Nation for
centuries to come.

God Bless our Great grandNation, its diverse people.

Our future needs stability, security, safety,
sustained progress and restoration of our due status
in this perilous Global World at all levels.

Now would be a SUPER time for the superdelegates to make Senator Obama the Democratic Nominee for the Presidency of the United States!

Obama '08/'12
Hannible Lecter said to Hillary, 'love the pant suit Senator'!

Then he ate her supers with some fava beans, and a nice chianti! Fvsh, Fvsh, Fvsh, Fvsh, Fvsh!
A few more media-declared "desperate, back to the wall" weeks like this for Obama, and he'll surpass Clinton in superdelegates.
the drip has become a full stream
Yes Domenico we get it...you told us about these last week yet you need to remind us again as your way of trying to show Obama with some momentum...and he does...but only in your mind.
Wow, Hillary had a 100 super delegate lead on February 5th.

Wonder what the count would be if Hillary wasn't called "the chosen one" a year ago?
Thanks for taking your sweet time to post some very positive news for Obama today!

I usually don't see the glass half empty on this site, but you really should place some more stories regarding Barack Obama and not just the Clinton Machine.  I was beginning to think that Bill Clinton was running for President again with the amount of coverage he has received as well.  I guess I am being naive...he is running again!

Is it me or does it seem as though we live in England with all of the same families in the White House.  No outsiders allowed!
Her lead is down to 15 when it comes to SD's.  Let's start taking bets on what day exactly, Obama will overtake the lead.

Anyone want to take May 7th?

If the winner wants, he or she may donate the winnings to the HRC campaign to help with its debt.
Only about 270 to go to nominate...obama will cut that by about a third tomorrow.  Spin the campaign news however you like, but this is coming to an end.
Go OBAMA, only down by 15 : ) ... Guess all supers that don't support Hillary are elitist and only someone that makes $109 million in 8yrs can relate to the middle class, lol
Obama is the only real choice in this election.

http://www.artba.org/economics_research/current_issues/indiana-illinois_gas_tax_2001_.pdf

Facts about the gas tax holiday pander.

My vote is for Obama.
GAME OVER
Go OBAMA, only down by 15 : ) ... Guess all supers that don't support Hillary are elitist and only someone that makes $109 million in 8yrs can relate to the middle class, lol
This really is what has to happen .... momentum now by the superdelegates.  I'm for Obama but whatever way it goes it needs to be accelerated by the superdelegates. We need a democratic nominee to be identified.  Whatever the momentum is will help others with their decisions.
Chuck Todd/Mark:

I think the breakdown of superdelegates picked by Hillary since Super Tuesday and Junior Super Tuesday is wrong - Clinton's numbers should be the other way round. I think it should be

- Since Super Tuesday, Feb. 5: It's Obama +88, Clinton +20.
- Since Junior Super Tuesday, March 4: It's Obama +45, Clinton +13.
I think you made an error in your superdelegate counting. How is it possible for Clinton to pick up +20 since March 4 when she only picked up +13 since Feb. 5, an earlier date????
Obama's within -15-!

That's amazing.

The race is going to be over on Wednesday.  Barring some radical, unforeseen disaster by Obama tomorrow (losing both races by 10%?), Clinton just  doesn't have a chance outside of imploding the DNC at the May 31st meeting.  Sorry Clinton-supporters, it's just the facts.  Hillary's been one heck of a candidate though!  I wish her will in her future endeavors, I'm sure she'll change the world no matter what position she holds.

Go Obama!
The inevitable Clinton is only up by 15 of her most ardent supporters, the inner party member?

About time MSNBC had a little coverage of Obama today, getting a little tired of the Hillary love fest from you guys this week
The numbers don't lie and Clinton will do and say anything to win. Gas Tax, Bosnia, Iran just to mention a few!!
I can't believe that after reading article after article of Pro-Clinton B.S on every major news website, that Obama's Super Delegate additions are finally being posted. How about doing us all a favor and blast her on the day before a primary for all the lies, pandering, false gimmicks, and pure un-adultered manure that she spews to get votes. How about telling the un-educated the truth about her plans and ideas. It's amazing how people of your ilk can constantly make this woman get the positive press when she lies and misleads Americans daily on topic after topic. Meanwhile, you consistently force feed America with this Wright B.S. that has nothing whatsoever to do with leading this great country into a brighter future.
Irresponsible to say the least!!!
Go Obama!!!!

We're not buying this bogus press coverage that claims HRC has momentum and poll numbers. Even with this biased MSM coverage as of late, they can't ignore the truth. Senator Obama is favored over HRC by Democrats. He remains valiant, cool and collected in the face of all the adversity Hillary and Bill and the MSM have spewed at him the past several weeks. And through it all he still has the presence of mind to heed the calls of what's really in the best interest of all Americans.

Senator Obama will truly make a great President.  Thank you Maryland Supers!
15 till all is square in the SuperDelegate world.  Lets see how everything sorts out once we're all square once again.  Any takers?  I'm betting Obama gets the break by at least 60%
Woo hoo! It won't be long, now!  Go Obama!
SDs, especially SDs from the same state coordinate their declarations to suit the needs of their candidate.  Tomorrow is going to be a bad day for Obama.  At the end of the day when the votes are all counted Clinton will again demonstrate her strength as a candidate among the demographic we need to win the White House and strengthen our hold on Congress.  Once in the White House we will need to govern in such a way as to hold on for two terms.

If we were really smart we would construct a 16 year plan to take and hold the White House for 4 terms.
Obama picks up 21 supers to Hilllary's 11 since the PA Primary and all the hours and hours of Rev. Wright coverage by the cable news networks including an all-weekend marathon on Wright by Dan Abrams.

WHERE IS THE ARTICLE ON OBAMA'S MOMENTUM NOW! Cat got your tongue Chuck and First Read???????? If this were reverse (Hillary picking up 21 Supers to Obama's 11) all we would be hearing from you guys is about Hillary's momentum.

Watch out voters. Obama could win NC by 12% and Indiana by 4% and MSNBC, Scarborough, Matthews and sorry to say First Read would be reporting that Hillary has the momentum coming out of Tuesday because Obama did not win NC by 20% or Indiana by 10%.
So, I was looking around and guess what? I found some NEWS!

More Than 200 Economists Denounce Clinton, McCain Gas-Tax Plans

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aTzCmqCNyLho&refer=home

McClinton is wrong for America! Let's choose substance over FEAR!

Obama '08/'12
Is there any way we can filter out of these counts the "add-on" superdelegates- most of those are elected as a direct result of primaries and caucuses, thus are new superdelegates and not ones that have been holding out to make a decision.  Removing them from the total for both sides would give a better picture of which way the supers have really been breaking recently.
The end is near.
Huffington Post just reported that not only is Hillary spinning, but also lying about Indiana.  The lie is that Obama was way ahead in the polls leading up to today.  But Huffington Post  research shows that Hillary has always been ahead or in a statistical dead heat with Barack in Indiana. I just can't figure out why MSNBC cannot/willnot report these stories.
The math now shows Barack only 15 supers behind Hillary. The supers have had over a year to go for Hillary, but have hung back.  There is absolutely no reason for them to support Hillary now.  Barack will win North Carolina and plan on staying up late for the Indiana results.  It will be closer than the polls are reporting. Keep an eye on where the Indiana numbers are coming. Lake County, Marion County (Indy) and Monroe County (Indiana University) is Barack country. Also, these counties will have good voter turnout, due to Obama's ground teams. Winner could win by less than 10,000 votes.
One more super, and he will 'obliterated her Pa. gain of 12 delegates!

Hillary's the best at marking time! GO HILLARY!
I am outdone.  I'm so disappointed in MSNBC.  I thought of the 3 cable news shows you had the most credibility.  I'm surprised this headline didn't read "OBABMA IS ONLY PICKING UP 4 SUPERDELATES TODAY TO CLINTON'S NONE"  It is a disgrace the way the news is reporting on polls that are outdated by a day that are in Clinton's favor yet the more recent polls are being ignored.  Morning Joe said about NYT/CBS polls...I don't know who they are polling as thought it lacks credibility.  And went on to spin the USA Today polls.  A disgrace.  But then I guess you know that already.
Hi Montanaro, I think you forgot to mention that Obama got a superdelegate from Oklahoma today also.
Wonderful news!  Pandering isn't working with those who know the facts.
