Delegate update: Four more for Obama

Posted: Monday, May 05, 2008 3:19 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama has picked up four more superdelegates today; Clinton has picked up none.

Three Maryland delegates were scheduled to hold a 2:30 p.m. ET press conference in College Park, Md., to announce their endorsements of Obama: former Gov. Parris Glendening, Democratic Party Chairman Michael Cryor and Vice chairwoman Lauren Dugas Glover. (Note: We already had Cryor on our list and added in Glendening over the weekend when he was named an add-on. Glover is new in our count, so she is added in.)

Obama officially picks up the three Illinois add-ons: Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Illinois House Maj. Leader Barbara Flynn Currie and Cook County Board President Todd Stroger. (They were announced Thursday, but were not added into our count until today when they were made official at a state party meeting.)

The Delegate Counts:
SUPERDELEGATES: Clinton 273-258
PLEDGED: Obama 1,492-1,338
OVERALL: Obama 1,750-1,611

- There are 264 undeclared superdelegates.
- Since the Pennsylvania primary: It's Obama +21, Clinton +11.
- Since Super Tuesday, Feb. 5: It's Obama +88, Clinton +13.
- Since Junior Super Tuesday, March 4: It's Obama +45, Clinton +20.

great! goodness gracious, where are the other ones already?!

obama '08!
Why aren't you reporting on Hillary's "nuclear plan" and how she is trying to TEAR the dem party apart with her ?!
Why aren't you reporting on Sidney Blumenthal and the "vast right wing" conspiracy the clinton's paid him to build against Obama?
Folks, all of those "Obama is a muslim!" emails you got? Guess who those were from? Yeahhh, great message Hillary.
The bottom line is that Obama cannot win in November-McCain will beat him. Hillary is the only one who can beat McCain. If Obama is our nominee, we will certainily lose again...John Kerry here we come.
Thank you super Super D's! Glad to see you recognize a TRUE leader!

Obama '08
ITS NOT ABOUT BLACK OR WHITE, RICH OR POOR. ITS ABOUT
TRUE CHANGE FOR YOUR KIDS AND MY KIDS, THE FUTURE POLITICIANS OF THIS COUNTRY CALLED THE USA.

LETS STAY FOCUS ITS ABOUT DELEGATES NOT WHO'S ELECTABLE...BECAUSE WITHOUT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN AND YOUNG PEOPLE VOTE THE DEMOCRATS CANNOT WIN IN NOVEMBER.

OBAMA 2008
The difference in supers is down to FIFTEEN!?!??!

It's ok, HRC says those superdelegates don't really count. The new metric is how many boilermakers you can down while firing buckshot from the back of your pick-up truck. Chuck Todd, can you give us the #s on that?
unless one is trully destructive to the dems (like hillary); it is very easy to see the trend. The numbers speak for themselves. hillary had what seemed an insamultable number of supers. NOW Obama is just 15 supers behind. he will soon erase her lead with supers, but she will not erase his lead with pledged delegates. This means: Obama will soon be the dem nominee.
Keep pandering to the voters Hillary.  Despite MSM trying to act like you have chance, the leak of super delegates in Obama's direction should tell you this race is over.
am I the only one who thinks the democratic nomination process is a lot like the crane brothers from the tv show Frazier? they have lots of rules and policies but at the end it still doesn't work
Why was it necessary to point out that Clinton didn't pick up any super delegates today?
In fact, you even admit having included two of them in Obama's tally BEFORE you posted this article.
So why was this article even necessary, except to try and prejudice people against Hillary.
Haven't you done enough of that? Isn't it time to start covering and calling this Primary FAIRLY?
Finally! Now maybe that person screaming for this news will stop yapping.
Good for Obama. I am glad the superdelegates aren't caught up in the media bias and stupidity of MSNBC,CNN and FOX news with their bias reporting.
And the beat goes on - vote for change - vote for Obama!

Clinton in 2005: "I agree with McCain" On Long-Term Iraq Presence

drip drip drip
just hold on a "change is coming"....
Finally, some news!  How about this as well -- 200 economists and their professional non-partisan opinion of the gas tax.

The Supers are not going to help Hill steal the election the American people have spoken and the supers will oust Hillary after the Nc and In primaries. The Hill's presumed birth right(to be the President) will soon R.I.P. along with all the lies and deceit she has brougth to this campaign. Go REST IN PEACE Hill and take your husband with you.

Obama 08
hooray, obama!  keep em' coming super d's!  we don't want hrc to go nuclear and see her obliterate the Democratic party, do we?!?
It's over.... What's happened??????  Whaaaaaaaaa.......
You should mention that Clinton's PA gain, unless she picks up some support today, has been eliminated.

Obama 08
you bet Obama got Mayor Daley and he is sure proud of his man.I think thats what made Obama pick Chicago, Obama says he is new Politician but that is only thing made him mad at Wright .When he said Obama was doing it politically man than Obama spouted. As much as he can I guess. When Wright said Damm America Obama said oh well hes just an ol Uncle. This is what we want in White House? Commander in Chief that doesnt mind anyone damming our country??Not to mention all the rest he said.No Nope not in my White house I hope.
Bill says he's praying; not more than I am!  We're getting closer to sending him and that wife of his and all the racist talking heads packing.  I'm sick of the whole thing.  The MSM trying to make a freaking horse race out of this primary and propagating all the non-issues because they are too damn lazy to do real investigative journalism. There's plenty to talk about that is substantive but no Rev. Wright is the low hanging fruit and easier to dredge up possibilities for a Clinton upset than to search for real news and angles that would give the country and opportunity to make informed decisions.   Question and answer both candidates on all issues.  Why is Billary getting a free ride and the obliterate Iran and the gas issue.  Why all of sudden are you allowing this witch to say anything and get away with it.  I'm thoroughly convinced that if Barack was pandering thru pursed lips in a voice from hell, you'd be on it 24/7!  Shame on all of you!  This will soon be over and you will have do do some real work.  I'm sending another $500 to the Obama campaign!!
Go, Obama, Go!! Even with HRC's win in PA, Obama is gaining more Superdelegates: 2 to 1, I beleive. How come there isn't a news story asking "What is Wrong
with Hillary Clinton?" and, "Why can't Hillary Clinton Close the Deal"? With all of her name recognition, her husband stumping for her 24 hours a day, and Chelsea doing her best, why is it that Hillary is once again down in both the Rasmussen and Gallup polls?? She CANNOT sustain any kind of advantage over Obama for more than a few days?? What is wrong with Hillary???

Even with everything that is being thrown at Obama by the Clintons' (yes, all 3 of them), McCain, the RNC and the press, Obama once again rises above the storm. I think that says a lot about his electability, his fight and his endurance.

It is not the athlete that breaks out in front of the pack, yells the loudest, or elbows and muscles his opponent that wins. It is the steady, calm, more intelligent player whom paces themselves that takes the Prize. (Big Brown over the weekend is a perfect example of this analogy.)

And for all of the HRC supporters out there who say Obama offers no solutions just criticizes Hillary's ideas, you obviously do NOT read or listen. Obama has stated his ideas in length and presents his solutions to the gas problem - as well as many other solutions - daily. You just don't want to HEAR his ideas and that is okay. You believe in your candidate and I believe in mine. But at least by fair with your criticism.

I am an Obama supporter, and I approve this message.

Great news Its about time.....
