Hillary, 'full speed ahead'?

Posted: Tuesday, May 06, 2008 12:59 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Hillary Clinton relied on a host of racing analogies this morning as she visited the famed Indy Motor Speedway on a day that could decide the fate of her bid for the nomination.

Clinton came to the Indianapolis landmark to visit with Indy car driver Sara Fisher, a native Hoosier, who said she cast her vote for the New York senator.

"We need to get on track in America, and head toward the finish line to change this country," Clinton said when asked what her election day message is. "There's a good driving analogy. If you want to move forward you put it in D. If you want to move back you put it in R."

Fisher quickly interjected that her car doesn't go in reverse.

"That's right. Full speed ahead the whole time," Clinton said.

Asked for a definitive answer about whether she'd stay in the race beyond today, she threw up a caution flag.

"I'm looking forward to find out what happens," she said. "I'm always interested in finding out what voters actually think, because there's all kind of speculation. It'd be like predicting who's going to win the Indy 500 before it's even started. We don't know. People prepare; they work hard; they do their best. Life is unpredictable; racing's unpredictable. Politics is unpredictable. So I'm just going to see what the voters have to say."

Please Hillary, stop using the professions of others to make analogies to your failed campaign.  You already killed a horse last weekend, I'd hate for the wheels to come off this racer's car next weekend.
""That's right. Full speed ahead the whole time," Clinton said."

This is a naval expression. Try again?
Hope she doesn't crash-and-burn.
She didn't do too well in the horse race.
The ONLY reason Hillary Clinton is still in this
race is because of Rush Limburgers Dittoheads!

I personally know Republicans who voted for her
after McCain secured his nomination.  Not because
they like or want her, but just to screw up the
Dem race.

If you'd subtract the Repub mischief makers, Hillary
would have been out a long time ago.

How'n the hell is THIS a fair race!  Or Democracy!

BAH-HUMBUG!!!
The narrative that has evolved of camp Clinton campaigning like republicans is pretty accurate - "If you can't stand the heat..." - Hillary Clinton

The message from the right is what i find most humorous.  They seem to be mockingly supporting her.  I remember as a young man trying to coerce neighborhood children into doing my bidding.  Going to the store:  who thinks they are the fastest?  I watched them speed away and return with my coke, thinking to themselves they had proved who was the fastest.  Which mattered less than little to me.  Each pat on the back by buchanon or Fox News is like that old 'at a boy' I used to play.

Hillary 200...let's hope not!
Well, the Pander Bear strikes again.
Unnamed sources claim that the Clintons may enter the Long Island New York World Championship Demolition Derby, if Hillary doesn't win the nomination. "...mmm...Gentlepersons, Start Your Engines?".
The last time she made any race predictions it was bet on the philly...

the same philly that finished in second place, broke two ankles, and had to be put down...

something cosmic is going on.

Here's to Obama ending it today!!!!
I find it truly annoying when polticians use sports analogies that don't really fit.
Hillary's "full speed ahead" is only slightly less awkward than Mitt Romney's "silver and bronze" Olympics analogy.
When you are borrowing anolgies from a Republican loser Senator Clinton, maybe it's time to drop out of the race while you still have half a shred of dignity left.
Sara Fisher is not the fastest female on the 500 track. Danika is. Hillary will come in second in North Carolina, and a close second in Indiana, which is like crashing in the fourth turn. Get ready for "Too close to call" in Indiana until very late in the night. Keith Olbermann will do a fine job calling the race. Too bad Chris Matthews has fallen for Hillary's "spin" and lies.   Tomorrow the march of the superdelegates will begin, not because of Indiana, but because Barack will win the North Carolina race.
