Brian Williams interviews Obama

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum and Mark Murray
Nightly News' Brian Williams interviewed Obama here in DC today, for a piece that will air on NBC Nightly News tonight.

For a preview of that interview, here's Obama talking about what he sees as the significance of May 20, when the Obama campaign thinks it will have a majority of the pledged delegates: "That will be an important day. If at that point, we have the majority of pledged delegates, which is possible, then we can make a pretty strong claim that we've got the most runs and it's the ninth inning and we've won."

"I think it is also important for us to, if we win, do so in a way that brings the party together. And one of the obvious big concerns that all of us have is making sure that we focus or attention on the Republicans in the fall, and we're in a strong position to do that."

More: "I want to let this play out. Senator Clinton is going to continue to campaign. My hope is is that when everything is over, all sides feel as if democracy worked, the process has worked, and now it is time to turn to the issues that matter to the American people."

DEMOCRATS:

The end is in site, we are days away from proclaiming a nominee and the foremost concern should now be on defeating the (weak) Republican candidate and rebuilding this nation. We need to repair whatever rifts have been built as a result of a long and difficult primary season and keep our eyes on the prize: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Whether you are a Clinton supporter or an Obama supporter, we are all AMERICAN.

Let's come together and reclaim this great nation.
Hillary, and her supporter's false accustions that Obama is not for democracy are lying, knowingly. Niether she, nor they screamed about dienfranchised voters until Hillary was loosing.
NBC - the media wing of the Obama campaign. How much free airtime has NBC given to Obama this past week?
Sounds like leadership to me....does not want to hurt his opponent or kick her while down - but does intend to win!
Obama on the Nightly News, nice! Eat your heart out Charlie Gibson!

I'm certain NBC will give Hillary the same amount of free airtime that they've given Obama lately. Just to be fair.
His is a face I could look forward to seeing for the next 8 years!

Obama is eloquent, diplomatic, respectful, gracious, and a uniter. Everything that Hillary isn't, but everything we need in a president.
And this is why S.D.'s are not rushing to endorse Barack and thereby swiftly ending this process.  In the interests of party unity, it is important that the Clintons have full control over when to call this campaign quits. They will do so in short order because she's out of dough and that's always the parameter that ends the process.

It's better this way and in the end will empower her supporters to help form a unified party.  After all, we have to end the Bush war, stop economic policies that have polarized rich and poor, aggressively seek a solution to the health care crisis and protect the gains that woman have made over the past generation.

McCain and his third Bush term will not work to these ends.  We desperately want and need change.
Obama '08
Thank you 'Nightly News'. The more we get to see, and hear Obama, the better.
...And the solution to those issues are.....???? Come now Obama offer one original thought. A real solution not some tweaked ideas from Edwards and Hilary.

Even good ol' McCain comes up with something every now and then...you can't play it safe forever. Got to take a stand. You can only run around them for so long.

This man looked completely lost in Meet the Press particularly on foreign affairs. And he is seriously going to be the nominee?
Obambi, it hasn't been fair or democratic. MI and FL were disenfranchised. People in the caucus states were disenfranchised. And, your strong arm bullies committed voter intimidation and there was voter fraud at the caucuses. Superdelegates voting against the will of the people in their state are disenfranching those voters. The media has fawned all over you; they tried to destroy Clinton for you .So, there has been NOTHING democratic about this campaign.
Can NBC give free ANYMORE coverage to Obama?
My gawd, I've heard of media bias....but THIS is insane!
A word about NBC and MSNBC. About 2mths ago I started reading FirstRead and watching MSNBC analysis. This lead me to begin to get most of my info on the internet. Is this election bringing about the end of the nightly news half hour? Good for Russert being willing to declare a winner. Boos to Feinstein for continuing to participate in Hillary's delusion and manipulation.  Same age and sex as Hillary but going for Obama... Hermine
What a class act Barack Obama is.  Certainly much more so than Hillary "Republican" Clinton and her self serving lies.  Time to end this primary farce so Obama can concentrate on beating the true enemy, panderer McCain.

Go Obama 08/12!
I am impressed that Obama is not afraid of letting this continue, even as all of the commenters here would like her to throw in the towel.  His allowing her to eventually give in shows how much of an upstanding individual he is.  I can only hope that Hillary does bow out graciously (and soon).  I liked her once, but her "desperate" campaign style has changed my mind.
This sounds like a president. It is exactly what I want too, as well as all voters. I think the media is what the real problem is for all of us. There is too much "blame-game" occurring by viewers who should be doing a lot of research. Trust me, there have been negatives from both sides, and everything will be done fairly. It is just to a point now that Obama HAS won, fair and square. Even with MI and FLA seated as is, he still wins.
Senator Clinton
As an ardent supporter of yours and one who will continue to support you until all votes are counted, I would ask the following:
As unfortunate as it is, it does not appear that you will not emerge as our nominee---that is so unfortunate. It appears that the superdelegates will refuse to see the obvious---that you are the only one who is able to beat Senator McCain in Nov. I know you are a party loyalist; however this election in my opinion has been stolen from you. Stolen by the African American vote (91 %--that is not only absurd but awfully ungrateful to all that your husband worked for over his 8 years in office), college elitists who think that life in just one big party, and affluent liberals. These groups do not represent the core democratic party, nor what it stands for. Change for the sake of change, as the Obama supporters chant is not change. He does not have the experience in neither economic nor international affairs to turn this country around. He will owe many favors to those in the party that have supported him, and they have their own agendas, so there will be little agreement on how to go forward to mead this country. He talks about uniting the party---he will divide the party, and the Republicans will block the changes that are desperately needed. You were our best hope for change.
My guess would be that should he become the nominee, you will ask all of us who support you, to unite with him. With all due respect Senator Clinton, I and I believe many others, even after your request will not do this. I will not take a chance with yet another inexperienced politician who promises change but has no record of accomplishing it. Senator Obama has not earned my respect and he has not earned my vote. You know Senator McCain, you have worked with him for many years. He “may” offer some real solutions to solve our problems---he is not George Bush. I will listen to Senator McCains ideas, and if I am not satisfied with his ideas, I will simply not vote---it is my right to do so, and I will exercise that right.
So my request would be, that should you lose the nomination, acknowledge the result with the dignity that you have always shown and head back to the Senate to complete your term, not run for re-election and do your great work outside of politics.
Being biased is one thing. Being totally in the tank is another. NBC is the latter.
The Republicans are getting nervous now because they know that Obama has weathered the storm and is now aiming at them!

Get ready for the GOP attack machine to be out in full force for November.

The Democrats have made many, many mistakes during this election cycle. Lets see if they can make the biggest whopper of a mistake by having Obama pick Hillary as his VP candidate.
Obama: "My hope is is that when everything is over, all sides feel as if democracy worked, the process has worked, and now it is time to turn to the issues that matter to the American people."

MI and FL voters: if you, Mr. Obama, believe in Democracy, then why don't you count our votes or at least have a re-vote?
Did Obama make it clear to Williams that there would be no questions about Jeremiah Wright?
The man has class and dignity.....something the Clinton's would NEVER understand!
Did Williams ask Obama about Iran leader Ahmadinejad saying that "Israel is a 'stinking corpse' and is 'on its way to annihilation.". I'm sure Obama could quickly come up with a speech that would convince Ahmadinejad to the errors of his ways.
=== Obama: we can make a pretty strong claim that we've got the most runs and it's the ninth inning and we've won ===

It's pretty obvious Obama is definitely not a Cubs fan.
"I have consistently said that the votes cast in Florida and Michigan in January should be counted." HRC

OH now this is priceless!  Am I living in a paralell universe or did she not say last fall that those votes didn't count and or matter... as well as signing an agreement saying as much???

Hillary you are a pathetic disgrace to the women of America!  May you enjoy your dance with the devil! I used to feel sorry for you - but it has been replaced with despise and contempt!

40 something white woman who supports and voted for the next POTUS - Barack Obama!
He is just the coolest!
I want it to play out too, but not if Hillary continues to hurt and divide the party and America. She needs to turn her guns on McCain. She still hasn't proven she can take him on which has always puzzled me.
What a "Class Act" Obama 08
COCK-A-DOOODLE DOOOOOOOO!!!!
Democracy will not be working if Hillary gets to claim her delegates from Michigan where Obama was not even on the ballot.  No one with any sense of justice can accept that.
The man shows- Class, Charisma, and President,
written all over him!
Obama is a true gentelman. Hillary get on board before the train leaves.
he's a class act!!
Spoken like a true President.
Now it the season for this man of God.
Thanks for the tip!  I'll be watching.
