Delegates: Obama picks up two more

Posted: Friday, May 09, 2008 1:18 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
The Obama campaign announced that California DNC Member Ed Espinoza has endorsed the Illinois senator as well today. So far today, it's a net of Obama 4-0. Obama: Espinoza, NC DNC Member John Gage, Reps. Donald Payne of NJ and Peter DeFazio of Oregon. Clinton: Rep. Chris Carney of PA, but she lost lost Payne.

The NBC delegate counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,590, Clinton 1,426
SUPERS: Clinton 273.5, Obama 266
TOTAL: Obama 1,856, Clinton 1,699.5.

* There are 255.5 undeclared superdelegates (about 50 of which are not named yet).

* Since the Indiana and North Carolina primaries on Tuesday, it's a net of Obama 10-1 in superdelegates.

* Obama is 169 away from the magic number of 2,025.

*** UPDATE *** For those asking, Vernon Watkins was already factored into our count.

Hmm, I guess the supers are keeping the guys at DemConWatch pretty busy today :) (and I'm sure that's OK with them).

Good news!  Thanks for coming on board guys (and I think one of them is Mr. Super!)

Vernon Watkins, superdelegate from DNC California also endorsed Obama today. He said: "The election is over, everybody knows that. Obama has won"
Thank you guys for sticking with the true magic number of 2025!

You know HRC's next claim will be that the true "magic number" is 1700 - and it's like "The Price is Right" - you can't go over - AND for a bonus, if you get within 1 delegate, you win BOTH showcases...
Just to make mention:  There are PLENTY OF Obama suporters right here in Pa. (as well as everywhere else, too).
Mary Lee from Atlanta - Clinton isn't racist.  Hillary's just calling HER SUPPORTERS racist.
The media and the supers are shutting down the Clinton campaign and I love it!!

Obama '08, YES WE CAN!!

He doesn't have many more delegate votes to win.  He will win the nomination regardless at this point.  It's over for Clinton!

Barack Obama will lead in the superdelegate count by the time the polls close in WV.
Hillary you were given a graceful way to exit with some dignity but I guess that is not a word you understand  neither is class, how about this vendictive, shallow, and LOSER!!!!!!
Hillary ship is sinking and her being a sore loser she is winning to bring down Barack Obama and the Democratic Party with her.  What a Shameful woman....and the sad thing is ....she doesn't care...she thinks she has the power to bully her way in the whitehouse...she's going to try and strong arm anyone she can...and only the weak (which still will not be enough) shall follow her.  The sad thing is .,...she can't possibly believe that if this BS she claims does somehow steal this from Barack Obama...She has lost an tremedously amount of support not only from blacks..but a very large number of whites and others...she can't win at way...She would rather keep Barack out of the white house ....her racist comment shows she is just that..

She would rather destroy him than allow him in the office...just because he is black and that he beat her
Married White Middle-Class Woman from Texas who not only voted in the Primary but also Caucused AND was a Delegate for our County Convention --- I SUPPORT OBAMA ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THe politics webpage still shows 274-260 for SD count

I want to thank Hillary Rodham Clinton for uniting the party behind Obama with her blatantly disgusting racist comments and her stunningly bizarre behavior (i.e. George Bush being afraid to land on 9/11).

Now anyone who had harbored admiration or loyalty to the Clintons has no impediment to jumping off the plane before it crashes and burns.

Say good-night Gracie.
Please Obama supporters... Whatever you believe about the Clintons, crying racism will not help!  It will only divide.  Their behavior speaks for itself.

Obama 08!
All the so call superdelegates please come out now and put this woman out of her misery. You must not wait any longer. We can now see that she need some major help. The table is set for us to win this election in November, but billary wants to tear it down. Pleaseeeee do something before is too late.
Good point Matthew, Newark NJ

Richardson knows the Clintons very very well. He was right on the mark about how she thinks she is entitled to this.

I just can't believe some of the posts I read on here and other blogs. It breaks my heart to think there are so many middle class white's in this country who are obviously still racist. It makes me ashamed of our country.

I'm white male, 49, a veteran, 50-60k yr and from Michigan. I'm telling anyone who'll listen: Obama is exactly what I've been looking for in a politician for my entire life. He will take MI against McSame in a landslide. I'm from the west part of the state that is heavy republican and Obama will even take this part of the state.

I extend a warm welcome to Mrs.Clinton's supporters. We need you with us. Please take time to think how much we can accomplish with President Obama and a democratic Congress. This is "our" time, "our" election, "our" moment in history, to change the face of the world. I don't know what I can say to make the hurt and disappointment lessen, but I reach out to all of you to join the movement. We can only do this if we unite.

I don't know if Hillary has the sense to be embarrassed for herself but I'm certainly embarrassed for her.

Great job, Dems.  Time to step it up and get this party started.

Obama, I've never been more proud to be an American (because for the first time during a presidential race this country is looking past skin tone and seeing the man).  Could this be Michelle's stand?  Possibly.
Gracias Mr Espinoza.

Hey patty, sd, ca:
I take back my nice words to you earlier today after reading your latest racist rants against Obama and his supporters.  What's racist are your remarks and you are indictaive of the problem we need to get rid of.  Go back the panderer McCain who will take away your right to choose, who will steal away your social security, who will steal away your children's and granddchildren's economic future.

Go Obama 08/12!
MSNBC please post this -

I suppose it really does not matter what Oregon and the remaining states have to say about the primaries - let's all just go with the tide and proclaim a nominee and shove Hilary out.

Shouldn't the nominee come from voices of ALL states? I don't blame Florida and Michigan for moving up their primaries - the later you get into it, the useless and voiceless the state becomes. Or at least that's the message being sent by Obama supporters. Is it your money she's spending? Is it your time she's using?

If Obama can't take this situation, can he actually take a real, honest to goodness pressure a President face? How would he decide on a deadlock issue? He can't run away from them, he actually has to voice out and be brave enough to take a stand.

All you Obama supporters, be thankful for the training he is getting. And stop pissing off Hilary and her supporters with your vile, insulting remarks. If there's anyone out there sounding like a Republican, it is your group. Half of the dems voted for her - don't forget that. Or he will suffer in November.

Respect her decision to stay in the race for as long as she feels she has a chance. That's what democracy is all about. Stop whinning about it.

If you people feel he is being destroyed by her staying in the race, what chances do you folks think he has with an all out campaign by the Republican's coming up very very soon? They will not go for affirmative action on him let me tell you that.
DIARY OF A MAD BLACK MAN IN AMERICA - I agree with you.  I am shocked and disappointed in the Clintons.  I hear many people say America will never make a Black man president, but I hear even more saying they could care less whether the president is black, white, man or woman.  So you see, there is hope that we outnumber the bigots in this country.  I would hope if someone is not voting for Obama it will be because of his beliefs and not the color of his skin!

Dear Diary,
Please don't get militant, it won't help. I am a white, female, over 50 voter who has already cast my vote for Senator Obama in AL and will do so again in the fall.  In my observation, most whites don't care about the race.  It is the Muslim issue.  If you want to fight--fight the lies that are being spread about being muslim. Senator Obama has said he believes in Christ.  He will need to repeat it and we will need to inform others.  Hillary clinton, in my opinion, is the one responsible for the Bin Laden type picture that linked him to muslims. She played that card with Ohio/Texas.  Believe me, it has to be fought.  I just told someone on my job today that it was a lie.  They said "Really, he's not a muslim?" This is the issue to go after and fight the hardest.  I'm fighting with you.
Isn't that 5.  DNC Member Watkins, also from California.

FirstRead please report this:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24533370/

Hillary lied to the American public AGAIN.  Her campaign actually raised a little more than $1 million on the day after Pennsylvania, not their $10 million dollar goal.

This shows a pattern that would definitely continue in the White House.  The Clinton's lack the moral fiber to be there.
Hey, "Diary",  I responded to your post on another site...can't remember which one, but I GUARANTEE you it was one on Hillary Republican Clinton!!!  This blue-collar, unemployed-semi-educated, 40+ yr. old Ohio, white girl gets what you're feeling & saying!!!

Great job, Supers!!!  Bring it on!!!

Have a FANTASTIC weekend, Diary, & EVERYONE!!!  Yes, even you Clinton maniacs!

Obama - '08/12
Maybe the flood gates are opening up on the superdelegate deluge swinging to Obama.  We need to end this repugnant primary farce before the traitor, Hillary "Republican" Clinton, ruins Obama's chances in November.  She would make a fine running mate for panderer McCain.
I need to know what makes Hillary Rodham Clinton thinks she is definitely going to win in November.
Well, I've been an Obama supporter for months. And over that time my respect for the Clintons has dwindled. I've started to think that Bill had nothing to do with the prosperity of the 90's. He just didn't get in the way of anything important.

And now Hillary makes racist statements, crossing the line from pointing out obvious demographics to making derogatory remarks, repeatedly.

I've had it with them. No respect left, not even good memories. They're just as bad as Bush.
It should be very obvious by now, if I comes down to one vote, that winner will face McCain...
Billary is a racist, an elitist, dishonest and a phony liar!  She's stubborn to the point of hurting the Dem Party.  She's selfish in only thinking of the Clintons' power and not caring what she's doing to the nomination.  She's lost but won't admit it and continues to throw dirt on Obama.  She's hurting herself in this game.  I saw Bill last night on TV saying she hasn't lost, "just vote for her".  They're pathetic.  It's laughable watching her phony antics as she runs around in desperation with that big phony mouth of hers! I wish they'd just go away and let new blood take over.  They deserve each other!  Why don't they just go away and spend their millions and leave us in peace?
DIARY OF A MAD BLACK MAN IN AMERICA:

I totally understand why you would be offended. I'm offended and I am one of those white working class woman she is talking about (however i voted for Obama)
I find it funny how people never really show their true colors until forced.  It happens in my own family - on one side we are the most multi-cultural familes that I know of - I have 2 black brother in laws - a cousin in law who is from India another from China - my kids are half portuguese!

On the other side my family are closet racist - some of them didn't even come to my sisters wedding because she was marrying a black man!

Call me crazy but I just don't understand why people don't see people just for who they are and that is people.  When I look at a person I don't notice the color of their skin first and then judge usually i let them speak and that says it all.  I have nieces and newphews who are half black & half white and I sure hope when they grow up the world doesn't see them as white or black but just for who they are!

I firmly believe Barack Obama can change this world and not because he is black but because of the person he is and what he is capable of accomplishing!
BigCuzz, while some may understand your emotions, you're actually hurting your candidate.  Do you really want people to bring up Rev. Wright again?
You have to show that can win with dignity, and really what you want to win (although you can't get in the game if youdon't win now) is the November prize. Recognize that if Clinton were in Obama's position and vice versa, and they spouted off some stuff about 90% go away, etc., how would you react in November?  Not vote for Clinton?  Exactly.  So, as you go forward, and all of you Obama supporters, remember to win graciously.  After all, without some of that support that Clinton is getting now, Obama can't win because the Republicans still take heed to Reagan's mantra of not speaking ill towards another Rep.  Which is another way to say, they'll stick with him in the fall.
Thanks SDs! Keep coming. Not too fast not too slow but steadily! I'm loving it.

Hillary and her campaign forgot the meaning of Barack in Swahili - The BLESSED ONE!

Who God has blessed, no man can curse!

McCain where are you?
