The Day in Delegates: Obama 5-0

Posted: Friday, May 09, 2008 3:17 PM by Domenico Montanaro
Filed Under: , ,

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
The Obama campaign announced yet another superdelegate endorsement -- South Carolina DNC Member Wilber Lee Jeffcoat. This is Obama's fifth pick up today. (The campaign also announced CA DNC Member Vernon Watkins, but we did not add him into our count, because he was already on our list.)

So far today, it's a net of Obama 5-0.

OBAMA (5): Jeffcoat, Edward Espinoza, NC DNC Member John Gage, Reps. Donald Payne of NJ and Peter DeFazio of Oregon (+5).
CLINTON (0): Rep. Chris Carney of PA (+1), but she lost lost Payne (-1).

The NBC delegate counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,590, Clinton 1,426
SUPERS: Clinton 273.5, Obama 267
TOTAL: Obama 1,857, Clinton 1,699.5.

* There are 254.5 undeclared superdelegates (about 50 of which are not named yet).

* Since the Indiana and North Carolina primaries on Tuesday, it's a net of Obama 11-1 in superdelegates.

* Obama is 168 away from the magic number of 2,025.

THE CLINTON MAFIA IS STRIKING HARD! THIS IS GETTING SCARY!

"THOSE WHO DON'T VOTE FOR HER, WILL BE SLEEPING WITH THE FISHES"- SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING FROM THE "SOPRANOS"?

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS...SOMEBODY HAS TO STOP THEM!

DRIP...DRIP..DRIP

THE DYNASTY FROM HELL IS OVER!!!

LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!

THE NEW CHAPTER HAS BEGUN...

Heavier trickle has been flowing. I predict some
steady rain until end May or June.

I wish the media (Time, Esquire) would not jump the
gun with these covers. I don't know their agenda, if any, but I think it's still premature. Maybe the next
issues would have been better. Vox Populi? Remember?
My Hispanic Brothers, and Sisters,

Why are you still blindly giving you support to Senator Clinton?

Are you not deeply offended by her remarks, which dismissed you out of hand yesterday, stating how the white vote was the most important?

She is treating you with the same Clinton attitude of ownership, that her, and Bill always held over the African American vote.

They had their share of the Black vote, until Bill offended them in SC. Good for them. They had the good sense to know that they had been trashed, and were rightfully insulted.

I am supporting Senator Barack Obama. You should too!

He does'nt take us for granted. When Gov. Bill Richardson endorsed him, he was so honored, they spent the rest of the day doing historical interviews together. Gov. Richardson's endorsement gave Obama even greater momentum. It was another turning point in his candidacy, which was a great push for him .

Breaking:  Laurie Weakee new mexico just endorsed Obama.
Wait a minute, Obama's campaign website says he is 163 away from the margic numbers.
Hey Chuck,

What constitutes an SD flood to Obama.  The score is 11 - 1 since Tuesday (with two switches to Obama).  This doesn't even count the Guam SD that will endorse Obama since Guam certified Obama as the winner and the SD said he would endorse the winner.  So tell me, what constitutes an SD flood?
Oh MY ... The death by 1000 daggers ... Julius Ceasar a.k.a Hillary Clinton is suffering the same fate.
This is way better than the flood. The trickle is more fun !
Ouch !
Thank you Mr. Wiber L Jeffcoat. G-D bless you, and all whom you love.

Congratulations Senator Obama, our good, and faithful friend.
he also get this added for the day...

Is it just me, or is Hillary having a hard time closing the deal?

Obama in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
A another one just endorsed Obama. It's the New Mexico add-on superdelegate.
The spigot is opening wider and wider . . . here they come!  I predict he'll pick up a 6th by the day's end and he'll tie or surpass HRC in supers by the end of Tuesday (WV primary).
The flood gates are beginning to open! Couldn't be sooner!
Can we have the First Read delegate count (and the delegate names if possible) on a seperate page which is updated by First Read. It will be good since NBC delegate count is not updated as frequently as First Read delegate count.
you are way slow.. Obama picked up his 6th Super today.. and you are way wrong on hillary's Super totals.  She now only has 267 to his 268.  Isn't it about time that the MSNBC updated the totals on the main page?? It hasn't changed in days..and never changes correctly.
HRC is asking the supers to commit to her "privately" --  apparently this guy didn't get the memo.  So much for transparency in gov't from the Clinton campaign.
Looks like Obama is "bearing" down on that 2025 figure. And if McCain is reading this, Lieberman can explain to him what that means.

I'm guessing the lesson about how Iranians are shi'ites is over by now, so McCain can schedule in a little vocabulary work.
Many reporters and pundits have been asking where is Obama's flood of superdelegate endorsements? How is a flood defined in this situation? 3 a day? 5 a day?

Does it even matter whether there's a flood or a steady stream since the end result of either would be the same?
Breaking:  Make it 6 superdelegates for today.

Laurie Weahkee a New Mexico superdelegate just endrosed Obama

Laurie Weahkee  add on superdelegate from New Mexico just endorsed Obama

http://www.newmexicoindependent.com/view/nmi-exclusive-count

Also a Utah add on will be added for Obama later today.  So that will make seven.

DOING THE HAPPY DANCE

OBAMA 08
Yeah Baby, another superdelegate joins the ObamaNation.  Now that we've dispatched the vaunted inevitable Hillary "Republican" Clinton machine we're setting our sights on sending Flip Flop McCain into political retirement, where all Reagan foot soldiers belong!  Join the winning team of concerned, informed Americans to take back our democracy from the tyrants of intolerance.

Go Obama 08/12!
No super delegates in November Obama-nuts. No disenfranchisement of voters, no caucuses. All the votes are done in private without you screaming your hateful words at someone, and all the votes count in all the states. Your guy loses big time.
Number six....Wilber Lee Jeffcoat, the Democratic Party Vice Chair in South Carolina and superdelegate endorsed Barack Obama.
news organization, the New Mexico Independent, was the first to break the story that Laura Weahkee, the add-on delegate from New Mexico, is backing Barack Obama.

Make that 6.  Leah Weahkee just announced.

http://www.newmexicoindependent.com/view/nmi-exclusive-count

Plus there will be a Utah add on any time now.
Patty, sd, ca is no CALIFORNIA GIRL!  She ought to move somewhere where bigots are the majority, maybe if she hurries she can move to West Virginia or Kentucky where she can vote for her favorite pandering loser.

Go Obama 08/12!

New Mexico Democratic superdelegate Laurie Weahkee announced today she's backing Barack Obama.

WAKE UP CHUCKIE T
Woo hoo!! Keep'em coming!! He's only 6.5 away from tying her in superdelegates now; come on supers, we can make this 8 by the end of the day! Yall can do it! I'm so happy, I think I'll got have myself a shot and a beer! :-)

Obama '08! Lets "obliterate" McWalkingcane in the GE and we will hand you the keys to the Whitehouse Mr. President Obama!

ALSO: The campaign announces the backing of Hawaii Congresswoman Mazie Hirono Endorses Barack Obama.

I don't have a problem with First Read putting up some fluff articles like the one about Obama playing Taboo.  Sometimes it's nice to have a little something to lighten up the intense partisan mood here.  Besides those light fluffy stories just give us one more chance to post comments!

Go Obama 08/12!
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

Rasmussen Reports is NO LONGER tracking Senator Clinton. They can see that she cannot win, mathematically. They have declared Barack Obama the winner.
And New Mexico Democratic superdelegate Laurie Weahkee endorses Obama as well:

http://www.newmexicoindependent.com/view/nmi-exclusive-count
68 More Supers gives Obama the nomination....255 still holding out.

Eazy math...Assume Obama gets 100 of the remaining 217 pledged delegates...
Not too many more superdelegate votes for the super delegate vote count to more properly reflect the will of us voters of pledged delegates.  It's been too long in coming that the supers start to listen to and reflect the majority who has voted for our presumptive nominee and next President of the United States - Barack Obama!

Go Obama 08/12!
This weekend you will see even more endorsements for Obama from those weak-kneed Dems who will be able to get out of dodge for the weekend, announce their support for Obama, and be out of sight and perhaps phone connection from the Clintons for a couple of days.

Sure is nice to have a strong and legit Dem nominee in Obama who is willing to take the heat now and then and to fight a good fight. It eases the frustration a bit of having to admit there are still a bunch of weak-kneed, spineless Dems in Congress and in the party.

Obama. You are going to have to get some of these Dems some spines and kick them in the rear now and then to be able to compete with the Republicans.
Make it 7 superdelegates,

Mazie Hirano rep of hawaii endorses obama
drip drip drip......splat splat splat......
No need for a Tidal Wave, a continuous drip is working just great.Tommorow is the day Barack passes her in the Only category in which she lead's.

O by the way, in case you Females ( who say you'll vote for Mccain) did you know he think's you're C--T's, just ask his Wife. Yeah that's who i'd wanna vote for if I was female! Just remember if you vote for Mccain, you're voting for your son's & daughter's to die for OIL! Go Figure!
Hillary Clinton was and continues to be over rated.

-Why do you think she made up the Bosnia story?
-Why do you think she had to sip whiskey and beer?
-Why do you think she had to do some pandering on the gas tax?
-Why do you think her superdelegate totals kept dwindling down?
-Why do you think she had to loan her campaign eleven million dollars?
-Why do you think she came in third in Iowa?
-Why do you think she lost all the caucus states?
-Why do you think David Geffen called her out on her honesty all those months ago?
-Why do you think Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry did not support her?

Because she was and continues to be over rated.

Only the media never saw it.
update the supers from today please. Thanks
Looks like Hillary's "race card" may give Obama the nomination this weekend! I believe it scared the superdelagates to act quicker, thinking she was going for a smash & burn strategy to win the nomination.
Some other news organizations are saying that Obama has pulled ahead of Clinton in the number of super delegates.  I have no idea who has the accurate numbers... I guess the numbers are changing too fast.

GO OBAMA/WEBB!
Thanks Super delegates.  I hope more will come forth so Hillary will see she's in box canyon.  Then Bill and Chelsea need to come and take her home.
CHUCK TODD was looking for the "FLOOD" but I'd say that 4 or 5 supers per day is a steady stream that sends a clear message.

Especially if they are coming from Clinton's lot.
Obama is definitely on his way to the presidency!  We are very excited!
