Here's the winner of MoveOn's Obama ad contest, which was chosen by a panel including Ben Affleck, Moby, Matt Damon, Oliver Stone, and others. The ad, entitled "Obamacan," features a veteran who says, "I'm a lifelong Republican, and I'm voting for Barack Obama."

MoveOn will spend $200,000 to air the ad on cable, as well as national TV in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Colorado.

Fantastic, I am tearing up.

Thanks for posting, I had lost track on where MoveOn.org was with the ad.  Good job to all involved and I appreciate the message in the ad!
MOVE ON HILLARY!  PLEEEEASE!

I hope you watched Saturday Night Live again.
I am a 43-year old, WHITE, middle-class WOMAN. I come from a long list of Republicans, and I, too, am voting for Barack Obama.
Positive, and captures the inclusive nature of Obama's campaign.
HooRaa!
For god's sake, get rid of the announcer with the clipped 'sissy voice' at the end!  A woman, a serious voiced man, a child, anyone else! Actually detracts from their message of putting a meaty, beefy 'real guy' saying this.  Jeez.
I'm at work so I can't listen to the audio of the ad but I like that it focuses visually on the American Flag. Obama = patriotism. Take THAT Charlie Gibson!
I have nothing but respect for our nations veterans...the reality is Senator Obama is a far left wing liberal...not someone that can bring together the moderates and conservatives!

Look at the politics of San Francisco or Berkeley...that's left wing liberal...now imagine the rest of the country following that agenda...it's not going to happen!!
That's pretty funny if you think about it. They had to find a Republican to validate Obama. Can you picture McCain running an ad with someone from Code Pink supporting him?
This ad won't sell in Ohio. Obama can't win in Ohio. In Ohio, Obama outspent Hillary 4 to 1 yet he won only 5 out of 88 counties in Ohio, those with large black voter turnouts. It's a FACT!

If you can't win in Ohio, you can't win the Presidency. It's a FACT!

Ohio will be a landslide for McCain if the Dems foolishly nominate Obama. It's a FACT!

Hillary Clinton is the best choice for the Democrats. It's a FACT!

Hillary can win in Ohio, Hillary can win in Penn, Hillary can win in Florida, Hillary can win in MIchigan, Hillary can win in New York, New Jersey, Mass, California and many other states. It's a FACT!

Obama can't win ANY of these states. Obama is too risky for the Dems to nominate. It's a FACT!

If the Dems fail to nominate an incredible candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is clearly the most qualified and most electable candidate, we will be McCain Dems in November. It's a FACT! (and we are NOT alone, It's a FACT!)

Hillary has already proven she's the strongest candidate. Tomorrow, in West Virginia (another swing state that Hillary could carry in a general election and Obama would lose by a landslide) Hillary is poised to have a landslide victory tomorrow. THIS is the breaking news of the day! IT"S A FACT! I don't expect the MSNBC Obama network to cover it. They are too busy serving their master, the CEO of General Electric who owns MSNBC who is a big Obama supporter.

The MEDIA should NOT be attempting to decide this election! It's a FACT!

*VOTE SMART! VOTE PATRIOTIC! VOTE HILLARY CLINTON!*
excellent...Go MoveON.org AND
Go Obama 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish it was going up in West Virginia. I dread the spin after 8:30 tommorow night.
I agree with the O Canada.  After George Bush we now have a chance of electing a President who has even less experience and his supporters think the world will applaud.  The will be laughing again at how stupid voters in the US can be.  Tell me, if John McCain and Hillary Clinton were two black men with similar experience, and a white man with one year in the senate had a chance of beating them what would be calling it?
Barack just isn't polarizing like HRC. Even if you don't want to vote for him, you can't find a great reason to not like him.

Hillary, either you hate her or you like her. That's NOT good for this country. That's continuing the Bush legacy.

MoveOn was founded to support the Clintons during the impeachment troubles. They could have made a big difference on behalf of the Clinton campaign had she not played games of political expedience with war and peace.
Nice job! Congratulations to the filmmaker! I had a hard time choosing between the finalists, but this one conveys the campaign message so well. Time to move on dems.
They had much better ads than this:

People are resoundingly rejecting tribalism this elections cycle.

It has nothing to do with high morals, deep thought, or hand wrung soul searching.

It has every thing to do with 4,000 + dead Americans, and thousands more innocent Iraqis.

It has to do with health care, food, and gas, etc.

In other words, the metal is ready for The Maker's Hand.
Thank you move on.  Keep up the good work.  The Reps and Hillary are going down.
"Desperate" Hillary's new campaign song is Jackson Brown's "Running on Empty".  Hooray for MoveOn.org helping Barack Obama, the next President of the United States.

Hey First Read where's a story that's even better for Barack, that Bob "Who the Heck am I" Barr is running as a third party Libertarian?  He will take votes away from McSame and I hope that Chris Paul joins in the fun of screwing up McCain's allure to the Libertarian crowd?

Go Obama 08/12!
I am a 62 year old white female from Pennsylvania, a life long Registered Republican, I too am voting for Barack Obama in November.
I thought that the VET ad does exactly what we need it to do in contrast to McCain. Great Job MoveOn.org
After completing my third tour in Iraq, I completely understand where that man is coming from. I want a president who cares about the troops, and this time he happens to be a Democrat. I'm voting for Barack Obama.

Isn't it fun to watch how the Great Uniter George "Wrong" Bush has actually fractured the republican party?  So much for Karl "Malpractice" Rove's great plan for a republican domination of the federal government for the next 20 years has come crashing and burning down around his head.  The evangelical christian lunatic fringe's stranglehold on the party has been destroyed by panderer McCain and now the Libertarians are splintering off as a 4th party.

Go Obama 08/12!
Who can stand in the way of history that's meant to be made?

Obama '08
Thank you for posting this. I've been wondering about the "winner" of MoveOn.org's contest. I still can't get over the fact that Senator Clinton was so disrespectful of MoveOn.org. I thought it was more of an issue than the media said. And, with all due respect to Senator Clinton, I'm a white woman over 50, her demographic, and I support Senator Obama. No, I don't want Senator Clinton to have the VP spot. She has not earned that honor with her recent behavior.
Hey moveon --

Minnesota needs this ad, too.

Obama/Webb 08
JJ & KR,

Obama's going to win in Nov.....IT'S A FACT! Better get use to it.
Speaking of Tribalism, Pat Buchanan was defending Hillary's , 'hard working white people' comment, as it is what it is, instead of denouncing it as divisive.

Consider this. Lincoln was right when he said, "A house divided cannot stand". How did he know that?

As a student of history, Good Old Abe had learned how tribalism had not served Native Americans, or Africans. Had the masses of either of these respective continents been unified, it would have been impossible to conquer them.

The Holy Scriptures say, "Stand together as a cemented wall, least your power depart".

Nuff said?
JJ & KR:

No, not FACTS...just OPINIONS.
We'll show you some FACTS in November.
Obama '08
Too bad the only republicans "Desperate" Hillary can attract are the Limbaugh clones who vote for her now just to vote against her in November.  One reason the popular vote argument of hers must be ignored is that she's received several hundred thousand of these false repugnant ones votes meant only to sabotage our Democratic Party's primary process.  Ignore the popular vote nonsense and focus on the only true measurement of victory - the pledged and super delegates!

Go Obama 08/12!
Also an Obamacan here. I like the ad, although I think it's a little thin on content. I'm not sure it goes far enough to explain why a lifelong committed Republican should favor Obama over McCain. More specifics, please!
I am curious to know if the voters from WV and KT polled support Hillary Clinton's most recent race theory.  She is claiming she will win these votes by merely sharing skin colors with the voters.  I get WV and other southern states - to a point, but is it really like that?
MoveOn.org is wasting its time playing that ad in Wisconsin.  It's a battleground state, but if Obama is the nominee, then it's in the bag because Milwaukee is a minority-majority city and is only 85 miles from Chicago so he's like the hometown favorite.  And Madison, our capitol, is home of the University of Wisconsin and he's had a organization there driving up his support for over a year now.  Together, Milwaukee and Madison is like a Democratic firewall which keeps Wisconsin from turning Red even though it was very close (like 1,000 votes) for Bush the past two times.

I say play it in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Florida or something instead of Wisconsin.
Barack Obama is the first Democrat I have ever voted for. Barack Obama is the first Democrat my parents have voted for. He is history in the making.
Dear Women,

We really need to move on. It's time for us to support Barack Obama and win the white house back! Hillary Clinton is not the women I want to be our first president. She is a good senator but that's where she needs to be. There are lots of women more qualified than Hillary Clinton that would be great VP candidates. I hope that Obama chooses Kathleen Sebelius. She would rock on an Obama ticket. She's loved by her state and has Republican appeal. She also has been campaigning the entire time for him. She is the reason why so many women in NC supported him. This is the change we need. If he doesn't choose her, Tim Kane or Jim Webb would be awesome. This is exciting for the Democrats! We're going to win this election and change the world!

Obama/Sebelius 2008
I also dred the media spin after tuesdays vote! The media can't even stop to let us celebrate Obama's position right now they only talk about what he needs to do.About getting the older whites vote,if Obama's mother who was white were alive, she would be 64. Please somebody tell me how Clinton gets a pass  on that!
I'm a lifelong Democrat and wouldn't vote for either of these two idiots in November.  I had hoped Edwards would have came through, now I'm voting for McCain.

Both Obama and Clinton are self centered ego maniacs and shouldn't be allowed to speak in public.
My brother, an oil co. manager and former Limbaugh addict has been greatly influenced by Bush.  He says he'll vote for Obama in November, for his 3 near college age daughters and because he thinks the country is less safe.  He also said he's glad Obama is going to be the dem's nominee because he would never vote for Hillary, in spite of not liking McCain.
My stepdad's a Vietman vet and he's been a lifelong DIEHARD Republican and he's voting for Obama.  In fact, in my hometown in Indiana, he and another lifelong Republican were the first in line for the polls as they opened for the Primary, both voting Obama.
Any one thinking of voting for McCain out of spite cause Clinton lost should watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y395Tftgz0E
great ad!!!!!

JJ & KR- it took TWO of you to post that desperate drivel???? LOL
I am a 59 year old white female, life long registered republican, changed party affiliation to "chose not to declare" because of Bush.  Then, changed my party to democrat because of Senator Obama.

It's time to dump same old Washington polictics, people are sick of it.  Senator Obama offers us a transparent, CHANGE!!!CHANGE!!!CHANGE!!!

The Bush and Clinton dynasty needs to end.
Wow...to hear the news reports there are no white people (especially Republicans) who would vote for Obama.   Wonder why that is?  *scratching head*

BTW...great ad!
I am a democat and I will vote for McCain, if Obama is nominated.  He will never be elected.
JJ and KR:

In the latest polling McCain beats Obama in Ohio by 3.4 percent.  Within the margin of error.  After Obama becomes the official nominee he will get a bump.  Even though 20% of Clinton supporters now say they won't support Obama, a large number of them will come around by November.  And then add the very real possibility that Obama could choose Ted Strickland as his running mate and he will have a lock on Ohio.
