Another three supers for Obama

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama picked up the endorsement of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (a Louisiana add on) and former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer is set to hold an Obama conference call at 11:00 a.m. ET. Romer is currently uncommitted.

Obama has now picked up 25 (with Romer would be 26) this past week. That's more delegates certainly than Clinton will net out of the West Virginia's 28 delegates at stake. And If Obama rolls out four more, he'd have gained more superdelegates in the past week than there are delegates at stake in West Virginia.

We'll update with any news from the call.

*** UPDATE *** The Obama campaign confirms Romer will be endorsing Obama.

*** UPDATE 2 *** WashingtonPost.com's DC Wire reports Anita Bonds, the DC Democratic party chair, previously uncommitted, says she'll support Obama. (Also, there was a Maryland pledged delegate, Jack Johnson, who says he'll vote for Obama at convention, but he is not factored into the superdelegate count.)

That gives Obama 27 in the past week.

*** UPDATE 3 *** NBC News has allocated the final remaining pledged delegate in North Carolina to Obama. The count is updated below.

*** UPDATE 4 *** We have also reduced Clinton's total by one after a superdelegate tells NBC News they are not, in fact, committed to either candidate.

The NBC NEWS delegate counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,591-1,426
SUPERS: Obama 283-275.5
TOTAL: Obama 1,874-1,701.5

Drip Drip Drip...

I'm thanksful my State North Carolina came out strong for Obama....
White Southern male voting for Change....
As a Disabled VietNam Era War veteran I know firsthand just how poorly vets get treated by Republicans like "Warmonger" McCain.  I served in the early 70's under that crooked commander in chief Nixxon and I smell the same putrid stench emanating from the White House that I did back then.

Just two weeks ago I heard a sad news story that a brave young soldier was killed in Afghanistan, during his 7th tour of combat.  No real American patriot would ever force our soldiers to endure so many attempts to cheat death.

Anyone who supports "Warmonger" McCain and this repugnant war for oil in Iraq does not support our brave soldiers.  McCain only supports enslaving our brave soldiers with the stop loss program and his new plan to keep soldiers from being able to escape their enforced slavery in the military to become free civilians furthering their education.

Go Obama 08/12!
While "Desperate" Hillary may win the day with about a net gain of a dozen pledged delegates, she'll lose that in the next couple of days as superdelegates keep jumping on the winning Barack Obama bandwagon.  By the weekend there'll be no difference in Obama's unassailable lead from yesterday.  Despite what she says WVA is no crucial turning point, she's still spinning on the fire pit of defeat and she's almost well done.

Go Obama 08/12!
And the spigot opens a little more.  Keep 'em coming!
On Feb 5th, the Republicans had the first part of their primary election.  On the day that McCain essentially wrapped up the nomination, here was the results from West Virginia:

Huckabee:  52%
Romney:  47%
McCain:  1%  !!!!!!!!

So by the Clinton "primaries are good indications of the general" metric, if Barack gets 2% today, he'll beat McCain in West Virginia in the general.

So that's the new goal for Obama, set by the Clintons themselves:  2% in West Virginia

...This is why the Clinton logic is illogical.
Good take Domenico on the insignificance of the WVA primary today.  Now Obama is gaining superdelegates by multiples every day rather than the one a day or week from about a month ago.  The supers are speaking and they are overwhelmingly backing the inevitable winner, Barack Obama.

Go Obama 08/12!
Hey Chuck,

What about the Clinton pledged delegate from Maryland that has switched his support from Clinton to Obama.  It is great to see all of the SD's moving in Obama's favor but when pledged delegates start switching to Obama, I think that is big news.  Politico's Ben Smith reported this.
Add Rep. Joe Donnelly Indiana 2nd congressional district to Obama's column.
EAT IT, Hillary!  Is it time to party yet?
Be a part of something great........Obama 08
Poor Bill.  Looks like the White House interns are safe for at least the next 4 years.

The good news for Hillary is that she finally found a small state that counts.  All of the small states that Obama won don't count.  Hillary will win West Virginia, so that small state counts.

Obama/Anyone but Hillary Clinton in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
Get the msg. Mrs. Clinton?  It's not going to be changed by a bunch of Archie Bunkers...who for divisive reasons engendered in the past as often as not vote against their own best interests.
Congratulations Senator Obama!

Gaining superdelegates in the face of the West Virginia Bubba blow-out is impressive.  Then again, regardless of the outcome in WV, the Bubbas will vote for McCain anyway (why put a woman or black man in the White House when you can put an Irishman there instead?)

On another note, anyone else of the concensus that Patty, SD, CA is actually Rush Limbaugh?  Maybe if we all ignore her/him, he/she will go away.
This is great news, SD's.  Let's put an end to this so that we can work at bringing in new voters who want to see the country further progress.  Ours is a great country and we will not let a few ruin it for us all.
I think that Barack Obama should pick his VP from the Clinton camp in order to promote the healing between of the party.  I hope he'll pick someone like retired General Wesley Clark, a white conservative military man with such awesome military experience that "Warmonger" McCain will drool with envy.

Go Obama 08/12!
As a Louisiana resident, I am so proud of the mayor of the great "comeback" city of New Orleans! Let's do this, Obama!!
You forgot the Super Delegate he got from Indiana earlier this morning.
I saw where you forgot to put in "Desperate" Hillary's name in the delegate tote columns.  You'd better remedy that before you get demonized by her fanatics that you are now favoring Obama by omitting her name.

Go Obama 08/12!
Why is it that when Senator Clinton made those comments to ABC about hard-working Americans, white Americans, and wrote those off as a poor choice of words it was accepted as such.  However, when Senator Obama used "bitter" instead of "angry/frustrated" and "cling" instead of "rely on", Senator Clinton pounced on them and labeled him as an elitist. Senator Obama's poor choice of words no more make him an elitist who looks down on small-town people than Senator Clinton's make her a racist who looks down on African Americans while being condescending to blue collar white people??
C'mon the rest of you supers--for the good of the party in Nov. end this thing now!  Clinton's rhetoric is getting more and more racially charged each day.  Let's send her a message!!!
Former! Colorado Gov. Roy Romer
Congratulations to Senator Clinton for her victory today, and her next victory in Kentucky. Now it's time for the real election to move on between Obama and McInsane. As an Obama supporter, Hillary's wins from here on out are do not worry me at all.

Peace!
James from New Mexico
It's a new day for the democratic party.
Those of us who used to admire Hillary, when she was still a blue democrat, really do miss her.
What happened to the civil, passionate true defender of democratic values?
I know what happened ... while trying to move to the right SHE voted for the war !
Most racist state in the country.  Let 'em vote for Clinton, then when Obama's Pres just let them rot in their own filth.
Thanks for keeping it real Domenico.
To the moron who keeps posting that he won't "whore" himself to Obama...

Dude (or dudette)...no one is asking you too.  If you don't want to vote for him, fine -but don't say you won't because you won't "whore" yourself.  Explain, with concrete reasons.  Otherwise no one will take you seriously.

Pat from NY - do you hang out with a bunch of closed minded old fogies?  Do they realize that HRC SIGNED AN AGREEMENT not to count FL and then decided to break the rules once she was behind?

Also - if you quote statistics supporting your flawed arguement, you could at least post where you are finding your info.
yahoo!!!
Ragin is black and he endorses Barack Hussein Obama.
So what!
"Obama has now picked up 25 (with Romer would be 26) this past week. That's more delegates certainly than Clinton will net out of the West Virginia's 28 delegates at stake. And If Obama rolls out four more, he'd have gained more superdelegates in the past week than there are delegates at stake in West Virginia."

So no matter what Hillary does today, she is right back where she was a week ago after Indiana/Carolina.  Give up!  And I am sure this is not the last of the supers that we will see come out today!

Obama '08!

Before idiots like Patty,SD post the same old misspelled ignorant trash, Let's make something cristal clear...If you are a Democrat and you are voting for McCain because Clinton did'nt make it then.....

A: You are selfish and put your own hurt little feelings over the good of the entire country.

B: You are a racist.

C: You know nothing about politics and only became interested in this primary because it resembles a soap opera or perhaps a wwe match.

D: You secretly really love the idea of waging meaningless wars, taking away women's rights and our right to privacy, giving rich people more money and denying americans affordable health care.

In conclusion, please feel free to vote for McCain because you are not really a democrat and your little vote will have no impact on the outcome of the general election. You are a ridiculously ignorant baby and deserve to move to the GOP camp. They love sheep like you who react to fear, racism and an insatiable thirst for revenge. Hopefully you live in a state where you have to change parties to vote.
Riddle me this Clinton supporters.  When Hillary finally admits defeat and throws her support to Barack Obama and the Democratic Party are you going to really vote for our true enemy Flip Flop McCain?

After all this support you've shown her over all this time will you really dishonor her by voting for the repugnant one who will give us just more of the failed policies the Bush/Cheney Tyranny has wrought upon our good country?  Will you blow off her suggestions for party unity so "Warmonger" McCain can keep our brave soldiers enslaved by the stop loss program that ensures they have to endure more combat tours?  Is this the gratitude you'll show Hillary when she finally comes to grips with political reality?

If so then Hillary has three words for you: "Shame On You!"!

Go Obama 08/12!
Congratulations Senator Obama! I'm so glad that the primary today in Wset Virginia DOES NOT MATTER! Those people should just have stayed home for all their votes are worth for Hillary! Zero, zilch, nada. She doesn't gain ANYTHING. Way to change how a President gets elected!

I still hear some dogs barking," Carville said. "I'm for Senator Clinton, but I think the great likelihood is that Obama will be the nominee."

"As soon as I determine when that is, I'll send him a check," he added.
It's only a matter of time until this is officially wrapped up for Obama.  Clinton is looking for a graceful wat to exit.  Let's hope she finds it soon.
I understand that Hillary needs to continue the race for her supporters...but continuing to drag Obama through the mud & highlighting her opinion that he won't win the general. It's so transparent - she's trying to spoil the election so she can run in 2012. If she REALLY cared about universal healtcare, pulling out our troops, etc. she would be focusing on a UNITED deomocratic message. She herself has admitted that she & Obama have similar stances on most issues. We are really seeing her true colors here!!
Hillary's racist campaign will continue on.  Her director Wolfson showed her true colors while on TV this morning.
The Clinton's and her campaign look to me to have a white supremacist edge to it.  I am white, so I am not saying this as if it were coming from a non-white person.  The Clinton's seem to be full of hatred.
West Virginia I believe is being used by the Clinton's, not to help her win, but to help her pay her debt and to say to America 95% of the voters in West Virginia are white and they voted for her.  That goes to show you a black man for President will not be tolerated in this country.  The voters in West Virginia should not fall for Clinton's divisive strategy. The German people did the same when Hitler ruled Germany......Clinton appears to look the same....
Interesting though not startling as superdelegates flow to Obama that he has done very well with elected supers (Senate, House, governors) while Clinton seeks to appeal to party bureaucrats.
Now we hear from her campaign advisors on "Morning Joe" that Obama and the party need to recognize Hillary holds their fate in the fall with her 16 million voters and they better give her what she wants.  With that said how many of the hard working white people will vote for her versus McCain. What happens to the 16 million + that voted for Obama if they perceive they were robbed of the nomination based upon backroom politics. Continually bringing up the race issue( call it what you want but she is playing out the Republican parties 1980's Southern strategy)she provides cover for Democratic voters to accept the race as acceptable metric for the election.  All Hillary cares about is to win at all cost.  Again on "Morning Joe" the 1980 battle through the convention was brought up as a positive( or as threat) to the party. I know of no Democrat who views the 1980 nomination battle as a positive. I am tired of hearing how we must handle Hillary with kid gloves and give her respect.  This is not a coronation.  She will lose on all metrics and now she is playing the race card. The superdelgates need to aggresively move to Obama's camp after this primary.  Because Hillary will play out the same strategy for the remainder of the primaries and cacuses and bring down the party in the fall.
This will be stopped. People will organize against Obama. It's not a racial thing, or a political party thing, it's an issue of safety and security. I'm sure we've all had our warm fuzzies over the idea of change and unity, but at the end of the day, it's time to call a spade a spade. Safety and foreign affairs come first, and safety doesn't come from an empty suit, who has lost 2 foreign policy advisors in 3 months. It's easy to like someone when the media likes them, but if you take the time to do the research, there's no substance to Obama.
This Michigan and Florida problem was not, repeat, was not caused by the Obama campaign. This problem was caused by two distinct causes.
If the democrats lose Florida and Michigan, and therefore lose the general election, the blame will be twofold. First, to the states themselves, because of trying to circumvent the DNC rules by moving their primaries earlier.
The second person to blame, and this is ultimately the most important, is HILLARY CLINTON. Yes that's right. Hillary Clinton.
She knew the rules of the primaries in 2007; she signed off on the rules to not allow the delegates from Florida and Michigan to be seated. She has been clearly documented in print and video media as being opposed to seating the delegates early in the campaign.
Now, she has manipulated the electorate in Florida and Michigan to join her in her own self serving pity party; fraudulently claiming that she "cares" about them; she does not want them "disenfranchised".
What is obvious is that she came to this revelation in her position when her mismanaged flawed campaign fell hopelessly behind in the race. She felt she could effectively capitalize on this democratic wedge issue to serve her own selfish intent. Hillary, by not supporting her earlier signed statements and her word has unjustly and unfairly given life to this issue.
If she were really about the "rights" of the Michigan and Florida delegates, why did she not accept the compromise offered in the Michigan case? Because she obviously does not care about the people of Michigan; only if they can serve her own twisted need for her bankrupt campaign to be salvaged.
So let's get over this "holier than thou" attempt by the Clinton campaign to fight for Michigan and Florida. The Michigan and Florida voters should be too smart to fall for any more of Hillary's self serving machinations. We need to come together to defeat McCain in the fall.
Who is going to say it?  Who?  West Virginia is a backwards, REDNECK, and RACIST State in our Union.  Come on.  This is like Barack going to a State that is 95% Black.  Well DUH, he would be winning 90% to 10%.

The key difference is Blacks might be voting for the black guy but they would equally come over and give Hillary her support if she became the nominee.  These rednecks probably would not.

Come on, everyone knows what West Virginia is.
I wonder what Tweety and Olberman have in store for their next Obama love fest episode? Will Tweety still tingle after the big loss. Will Hillary be worst person in world cause she beat Obama. Are all uf us Hillary supporters just a bunch of redneck racists? Stay tuned!
When is Hillary going to realise how badly she is hurting the party for her own selfish game. All this Barack can not win this or that state is clearly because she would not get out. Just learn from the Republican Party. Barack’s supporters are not really inclined to get ou in WV bacause they have the battle worn. Why would they keep fighting when the battle is ‘sensibly’ over? Hillary is clearly encouraging her supporters to keep this ugly thing going and in turn damaging the party. We’ll see how far she goes. This is so sickening!
Mr Montanaro some Clinton supporters will say that you were way to enthuasiastic writing this article. I think it is time to begin to mend the party. So please Obama supporters dont bash the Clinton supporters lashing out in anger. We need them to come around to win this thing in the fall.  This is not a pro-Obama story just facts folks ,just facts.
And the beat goes on............
SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS FOR OBAMA BEFORE AN ELECTION.  NOW IT IS THE FEAR TACTIC ABOUT RACE ONCE AGAIN IN THE NEWS.  WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?  BEING WHITE I HAVE NO PROBLEM.  DOES THIS NOT REMIND YOU OF THE WAR IN IRAQ.  THE LONGER THE CAMPAIGN GOES ON THE MORE COMPLICATED THE WAR IN POLITICS GETS.  FOR THE MOST PART I HAVE TO BLAME THE CLINTONS, PARTICULARLY SINCE THEY ARE PUSHING AND PUSHING, LIKE BUSH PUSHED FOR WAR SO WE HAVE IT IN HOW DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY.  THE NEWS MEDIA IS TO BLAME.  IT IS TIME HC GOT OUT.  IF SHE WAS NOT THERE, THE WHITES WOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA ANYWAY.  ONE CANDIDATE, ONE VOTE.  JOHN EDWARDS COULD HELP TO PUT THIS TO AN END.  I WAS A SUPPORTER BUT SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED AS THE BLAIS ATTITUDE WHEN SOMETHING THIS IMPORTANT IS AT STAKE.  ALSO THE UNNECESSARY TRICKLING OF THE SUPER DELEGATES.  THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IT IS "ALL ABOUT ME" PLAYING THE GAME OF GOD WHO BY THE WAY HAS IT ALL FIGURED OUT BUT LETTING THE FOOLS ON THE GROUND DO THEIR BEST TO MAKE VOTERS WANDER AROUND LIKE LOST SOULS.
What about Donnelly and then Jack Johnson switching from Clinton to Obama today in Maryland (Washington Post).

Today:  Obama = 4 HRC = -1
The trickle for Obama is not a flood yet, but it HAS becomeing something of a steady flow.
I think it is great that the super delegates are showing their support to Obama.  I understand that Clinton feels everyone has the right to vote, etc. but she is starting to come across as a stubborn person who is a sore loser.  I hope more super delegates make up their mind real soon and put her out of her misery.
CO's current Gov is Bill Ritter
