Another three supers for Obama

Posted: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 10:09 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama picked up the endorsement of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (a Louisiana add on) and former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer is set to hold an Obama conference call at 11:00 a.m. ET. Romer is currently uncommitted.

Obama has now picked up 25 (with Romer would be 26) this past week. That's more delegates certainly than Clinton will net out of the West Virginia's 28 delegates at stake. And If Obama rolls out four more, he'd have gained more superdelegates in the past week than there are delegates at stake in West Virginia.

We'll update with any news from the call.

*** UPDATE *** The Obama campaign confirms Romer will be endorsing Obama.

*** UPDATE 2 *** WashingtonPost.com's DC Wire reports Anita Bonds, the DC Democratic party chair, previously uncommitted, says she'll support Obama. (Also, there was a Maryland pledged delegate, Jack Johnson, who says he'll vote for Obama at convention, but he is not factored into the superdelegate count.)

That gives Obama 27 in the past week.

*** UPDATE 3 *** NBC News has allocated the final remaining pledged delegate in North Carolina to Obama. The count is updated below.

*** UPDATE 4 *** We have also reduced Clinton's total by one after a superdelegate tells NBC News they are not, in fact, committed to either candidate.

The NBC NEWS delegate counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,591-1,426
SUPERS: Obama 283-275.5
TOTAL: Obama 1,874-1,701.5

YES WE CAN. WE WILL WIN AND WE WILL PREVAIL THE INJUSTICE. GO OBAMA 2008
It looks like someone is pranking patty,sd,ca by turning in comments with her name on it.  For once I actually agree with patty that whatever little cowardly creep that is out there pranking her and others should be brave enough to say whatever he or she has to say under their own name.

I noticed some of them over the past few days and I thought she had gone schizophrenic.  Look she has no need of any help to make her sound any more stupid than she herself does.

The fine folks at First Read that are posting our comments have plenty enough on their hands than to have to play traffic cops here trying to filter out prank posts.  Let's not allow some cowardly jerk to ruin our reader comment fun.

Go Obama 08/12!
Obamapods never learn...the more nasty you get regarding Hillary and her supporters, the less likely it will be that Hillary supporters will vote for him if he's the nominee.
I think on the patty from sd we should post as many pro obama statement in here as possible using her name. it really bugs the crap out of her. she really needs medication .
I said two months ago, a drip is still a leak.

If you have a drip under your sink, and it drips over time, you will soon have a puddle, and soon after that a flood.

Virginia does not count!!!  It's a SMALL STATE!!!
When will people wake up and see that their candidate Obama is nothing but a cult of personality, basically a third party candidate like Perot who had a great following but fizzled out. Hillary has the base behind her and Obama?.....blacks, egg-heads and moveon.org.
Jacqueline please be patient, they are releasing them slowly as to not look like they are pushing HC out of this thing. So just be patient we will be rewarded with a great candidate  Senator Obama.
That is 5 SD since last night;

Anita Bonds, Joe Donnolly, Nagin, Romer and Jack Johnson (a switch from HRC).

Obama = 5  HRC = -1

SDs today from Indiana, Colorado, DC, Louisiana-- this is what a national candidate looks like, one who knows it is time to go to Michigan and Florida, take the heat for the DNC's follies, and start the healing needed for victory in the fall.
What about Jack Johnson switching?  See link:

I suspect there's a bit of strategy in making it a steady flow.  Kudos to the Obama campaign and kudos also to all the endorsers, we appreciate your support.  On to Nov., on to the White House.
On another note, anyone else of the concensus that Patty, SD, CA is actually Rush Limbaugh?  Maybe if we all ignore her/him, he/she will go away.

-Democrat

I actually think "SD" stands for "Solis Doyle". I think she is Patty Solis Doyle :-)

To SMS:  you stole my comment and re-posted it as your own!
Oregon will seal the deal.

MSNBC JUST REPORTED CHELSEA IS UNDER SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION ... THAT'S WHAT THE CLINTONS GET FOR PIMPING HER OUT
Congratulations Sr. Obama......his website has him @ 1875 with 150 more to go !
Roy, Roy, Roy, Roy, Roy!!!!  Thank you to a fellow CSU grad!!!
Do these totals include Rep. Joe Connelly from Indiana?
Eric, Salinas, CA --

When talking about warmongering Republicans ... why don't you mention that it was LBJ that started us in Vietnam, not Nixon? In fact, a Democrat President got us into every way in the last 80 years except Gulf War and Iraq War. But maybe that slipped your mind.

So Republicans, Eric, have been responsible for wars claiming about 6,000 American lives, and Democrats have been responsible for wars claiming 650,000. But I guess you're right. REPUBLICANS are the warmongers ...

You're not the only old vet on this blog, and you're sure as hell not speaking for all of us. Serving this country doesn't mean you're free. It makes you property of the United States government. There's a reason they give you a gun when you sign the dotted line. I wasn't drafted by the government. I was drafted by a proud tradition of service, and I don't put a limit on sacrifice. I would assume you don't either. But if you do, we will have to agree to disagree.

And for the record, if we had stayed in Vietnam a half a year longer, there wouldn't have been any killing fields. There wouldn't have been such slaughter on an unmeasureable scale. And I'll tell you right now, if we make the same mistake in Iraq, the killing fields will be reborn. No doubt about it.
West Virginia.......

Deliverance?

Or maybe that was Arkansas.

Either way.......
Well I am glad to see the SD's took Rush Limbaugh's orders and started giving there voets for Obama.
The Clintons: A Friend of Rev. Wright?

When my contact sent me this picture, I was pretty shocked. Yes, that is Rev. Wright, the former pastor of Barack Obama, on the left, shaking Bill Clinton's hand.

And get this:

My contact who sent me these documents is a 'Washington Insider.' She attends and creates a lot of events in D.C., and knows the kind of people who would come across documents such as these as a part of doing political business.

A friend of my contact sent her these documents with the note:

'President Clinton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright... at White House breakfast during the 'Monica Mess.' I have no problem with Rev. Wright. I do have a problem with Clintonian hypocrisy.'

Not just anyone gets invited to a White House breakfast where they can shake the hand of the President. These events are carefully engineered to curry favor with people politicos think can help them.

Hillary may not have chosen Wright to be her pastor, yet her husband chose to cultivate a relationship with Rev. Wright during his presidency. This fact seems to have vanished from Hillary's memory as she delivered her recent round of sound bites, criticizing Obama for his past relationship to Wright.

Sounds very similar to her 'I was shot at in Bosnia' way of thinking.

The $109 Million Dollar Former First Lady taking money from the poor.  Think about it.
Angelica (Sent Monday, May 12, 2008 7:01 PM)

Oh so it's Ok if you made 4.2 million last year and 2.5 million the year before that and over 1 million the year before that and take money from the poor, that's Ok though?

All these Obama supporters acting like someone who makes Millions (and most people will not ever see a million dollars in their life times) but makes a lot less millions than someone else is not wealthy.

And how much do you think the Obama's will make over the eight year period after leaving the White House if Obama becomes the President?

Bill Clinton had never written any books and got paid millions before becoming President, unlike Obama.

In fact, the Clinton's made all of a couple of hundred thousand dollars the year before Bill Clinton got elected, not 4.2 million like the Obama's.

All these people running their mouths about the fact that a Former President of the United States and a former First Lady of the United States, who is now a United States Senator, over an 8 year period made 109 million.

They didn't make 109 million in one year.

If Obama has already written two books, how many books do you think he will write while being President, and then after leaving the White House?

How many millions do you think people are going to pay Obama to give speaches after he would leave the white house?

If Obama gets elected and serves two terms, the amount of money the Obama's will have made eight years after leaving the white house will make the amount of money the Clinton have made look like chump change.

So get off your high horses and stop acting like the Clinton's have made so much money and no one can seem to understand why.

All these BMW driving, NPR listening, people that attended college (I won't say educated because going to college doesn't make someone educated)that are supporting Obama making over 100K a year acting like 109 million is a lot of money, what ever!
to 'concerned in ST. Louis'   " it's time to call a spade a spade"  did you know what this reference is?  i'm prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt but please be more clear.

sy no to CLINgONs
FULL SPEED TO THE "HOT HOUSE".IF W VIRGINA GOES DOWN SO GOES THE NATION....DOWN THE DRAIN!
OBAMA 08/12!
Screw the DNC party...The DNC has failed its purpose and I believe the party's implosion is eminent sooner rather than later.
"Also, there was a Maryland pledged delegate, Jack Johnson, who says he'll vote for Obama at convention"
*************************

Ouch! As an Obama supporter, I think the pledged delegate should stick with who they are originally pledged to. However, because Hillary was so shamelessly advocating that they be allowed to switch over to whoever they want, I can't help but find this defection to be hilariously ironic. Be careful what you wish for Hillary, karma is a bitch.
Since when West Virginia has become so important? How such red neck, republican, ignorant, backward, racist state, can reflect the good of this Great Nation? Come on this is a joke....
Are you serious, six Eric Salinas posts get published on one thread while most other posts are withheld?  Why do we have to read every bit of his dribble, but feel like we win the lottery if our post gets submitted?  Who is he servicing at MSNBC?
Hillary will most likely win big today in West Virginia.  This will be her last big win day.  Next week she will win Kentucky but Obama will win Oregon.  When Obama wins Oregon the flood gates will open up and all the supers will start making there pledges.  Obama will have won more pledged delegates than Hillary will be able to.  One week left for Hillary, I hope she enjoys it.  Hillary's camp was given a fair divide offered by Michigan to split the delegates.  She refused because she wants all of the delegates of Michigan.  Hillary is the one that doesn't want all the votes to count.
Folks, it is time.

We are on the cusp of finally having what we have waited for a very long time to have in our country:  LEADERSHIP.  Not a bunch of warmongering opportunistic CRIMINALS like the current occupants of the White House, not his CLONE who is running with the party of the aforementioned, and not someone who is willing to take pages from the "Dirty Tricks Book" from the aforementioned party to use in a Democratic primary race, namely:  fear tactics.

It took courage for Senator Barack Obama to even announce the fact that he chose to run for the Office of the President.  It also takes courage for a citizen of the United States to have faith, to hope, and to believe in a candidate who runs his campaign based on these same tenets:  to recall our history so that we prevent future mistakes, to protect our troops whose lives are being treated with such a cavalier manner that they are forced to fight enemies abroad and then our own government when they can't get the care they need and deserve, to do away with the old-style of politics, and to believe that America can be better, can once again lead the world not with hubris and arrogance, but with a sense of community, and with a dignity that has been absent ever since George W. Bush put his hand on the Bible and LIED TO THE NATION from the beginning.

Help clean up this mess and vote for Obama '08, so that we can take our country back.
what about barbara boxer as a running mate for Obama that will be the woman to replace hillary.
LTC Barber--Nice rant.  Hope you feel better.  Your anger and abusive language reflect poorly on our fine military.
Hillary’s supporters have gone as far as to say that they would vote for McCain or not vote at all come November.  But no one knows at this point what would happen in the General Election.  In spite of how weak a candidate John McCain is proving to be.

So why is Hillary Clinton's voter base so angry?  Perhaps is it because for the first time in 100 years, someone has finally called them out for what they truly are; and for the entire world to see.  Perhaps if any of them even possessed a passport, they could travel overseas to Europe to see what the world really thinks of Hillary's 'Deliverance' voters.  And let's not forget the other embittered, jaded legions of ‘Desperate View supporters’ who see their chance to live vicariously through Bill Clinton's success (re-packaged as Hillary’s Joan of Arc triumphs) fading along with her campaign.

Hillary's supporters would rather their home go into foreclosure and that more of their sons and daughters die in Iraq than vote for a bi-racial candidate.  Do they even know who has paid the greatest price in American Wars? - Those of a lower-income, the uneducated... Congratulations, Hillary Clinton on your voter base.

There are many other woman in there party that can replace Hillary.
Please stop "blanketing" Hillary's supporters as racists; it is not helping Barack Obama win and it is not uniting us.

Such speculation is inherently unfair and as an Obama supporter, I think uniting the party is most important. We should take Obama's example and deny racism any power by acknowledging the good in people over the bad. It is our common interests that will bring us together.

Clinton Republicans & Democrats should join with us for a better country because voting McCain is not going to get them anywhere near the outcomes Hillary would want for our country.Period.

Obama '08
Sen. James Webb Va. or Gov. Phil Bredesen Tn. for Barck Obama's VP.
No, see the thing is, I want Hillary supporters.  But the fact is RACE is a major factor in this race.  I am white and I know how racist people are, they will not vote for Obama based solely on his RACE, nothing more.

We will never get these type of Hillary people, NEVER.  Now there are objective and principled people that love Hillary Clinton and that is PERFECT.  But, if they are open and obejective and democrats they will join the party in its unifying effort and be for Obama and the Democratic ticket.

I hope this clears everything up.  Come on Dems we need to be unified.  I mean if she, HRC, wasn't pulling some of these tactics she would be the one and only and perfect VP choice.
patty --

I really hope you're having a good time jobbing us all ... well, almost all.  Truth be told, some of us see right through you.  I'll never forget how much you make me laugh.

Obama 08/12
...oh, and to Chuck Todd:  I have to admit that I do admire the hard work you've been doing, but if you're keeping an eye on the superdelegates moving toward Obama, you might want to considering brewing a fresh pot of coffee, my man...
As a republican voting democratic, I'm so tired of hearing about how important this state and that state is to winning the Nov. election.  EVERY STATE IN THIS UNION IS IMPORTANT!!  And I've also grown tired of the Clinton won more here or there than Obama.  Those votes were dem-vs-dem. In the general election it will be rep-vs-dem, and WHOEVER the dem is will be the victor!  (So don't worry 'bout a thang, Obama.  It's yours!)
The only reason Hillary Clinton is slated to win in W.Virgina is because of racism. The people there are so misinformed.  I couldn't believe some of the comments they make. Senator Obama has endured so much during this campaign but he doesn't dwell on it. Hillary wants this so bad she just won't quit.
I am so tired of Super Delegates and Washington insiders who have real influence say they are 'afraid' of the damage Hillary is doing to OUR democratic party. They are the ones with the influence, why don't they use it? We, as voters, have spoen and the majority has voted. I am convinced they are more afraid of the 'Clinton Machine' than they are of ruining and dividing OUR democratic party. Come on, Super Delegates! Vote! Show some courage! Stand up and be counted as we have! (Even if you have to vote for Hillary) Just do something so we can move on. As an Obama supporter, I will vote democratic in November. I also know by doing that, there is not much difference in McSame and Billary.
Of course HRC will win WV.  But to what goal?  I appreciate that James Carvelle came out and said that he will support Obama once the nomination is final.  Will Senator Clinton bring her supporters with her?
Or the bigger question:
Why IS HRC still "running"? What is her real agenda now? We know that SHE KNOWS she will not be the nominee?  So why waste millions of dollars and sting this entire process along?  Hillary, what is that you want out of this?
As a 35 year old married man with a daughter, I am concerned about the country. The U.S. Dollar isn't as significant, our diplomacy is shot, and we still have divide in this country; I am banking on the American people to stand and deliver. I am counting on the American people to put aside the differences that divide us and combine what unites us! We need America to stand tall and proud and if we let politics dictate the agenda, then what does that say for us as a nation?  Are we trully the home of the free and the home of the brave?  I want my daughter and my daughter's children to endure this land of opportunity that they so rightly deserve! Americans, WE THE PEOPLE are and should be the main topic of debate, not big business, not lobbyist and we need a President that will listen to the people and move us forward! I don't care if you are Republican, Democrat, White, Black, Rich, Poor, Blue collar, White collar, Educated, Non-educated; look at the candidates; Read their messages; Listen to them in their own words (go to each candidates website and read their plans-don't just listen to the media) and decide for yourself.  Do not let speculation, cloud your judgement on reasons to vote or not vote for a specific candidate.  Personally, I am 100% behind Obama, his message and approach seems to involve the people more than the everyday politics that has shaped our government for the past few decades. As stated earlier, I have faith in the American people,  that we as a nation, we will ensure that we bring America back to prosperity...God Bless America...Land that I love!!!
David A. Scott, MBA
Obama Supporter
As a lifelong Democrat, I can finally absorb what Republicans meant when they said Democrats really weren't too smart.....

Leave it to the Democrats to mess up THIS election!
