Four supers for Obama

Posted: Thursday, May 15, 2008 2:42 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
As more evidence of the Democratic Party coalescing around Obama, the Illinois senator picked up four more superdelegates today. California Reps. Henry Waxman and Howard Berman and Washington state's Jim McDerrmott all threw their support to Obama. Also endorsing Obama was the Communications Workers of America President Larry Cohen of DC.

(We noted earlier the steelworkers' union endorsement of Obama as well.)

Waxman is the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Berman is the chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The NBC NEWS Delegate Counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1599 to 1447
SUPERDELEGATES: Obama 291.5 to 276.5
TOTAL: Obama 1,890.5 to 1,723.5.

* Obama's Magic Number: 135.5 to reach the 2,026 required to become the Democratic nominee.

* Obama has gained 35.5 superdelegates since last Tuesday; Clinton has gained 1.5.

Could you please explain why it is 2,026, rather than 2,025? I know a delegate got added or something, but wouldn't one delegate make it 2,025.5?
you are mistaken.
Hillary said is was 2210.
Didn't you get the message?

CNN reported 6 of Mr. Edwards 8 delegates from South Carolina are switching to Obama.  The other 2 could not be reached.
Awesome!  Let's keep in up SDs.  Thank you.
This is great news. I hope he goes over 2026 on or before next Tuesday.

It was so exciting last night. The next President was in my town. VanAndel Arena holds about 19,000 people and there were thousands still waiting to get in when the fire Marshalls closed the doors. I ran home to watch it on local TV and MSNBC. The Edwards’s appearance and endorsement was a total surprise to most in attendance. It was just electric. I am so proud of the support that showed up. Grand Rapids is a very heavy republican part of the state and I'm now convinced that we will carry this state by a big margin over McSame. What a brilliant political move by changing the headlines in the prime time news cycle. For the first time in my adult life I am proud to be part of a movement that will change our country and the world for the better, for generations to come.

49 year old typical white male veteran in Michigan for Obama!
Hilary I think the "Suprers" are sending a message...
Hellooo Superdelegates .. lets get this thing over with !
My blood is boiling .. the Genrral Election has started !
Obama is still tied up by Billary ... set him loose !

George Bush has waged war on the democrats .. It's time to do what we set out to do at the start of 2007.
GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE AND GET OBAMA ELECTED !
How about a post on Biden's comments about Bush's ridiculous statements?  He pretty much hit the nail on the head.

(More Supers!  Go Obama!)
The supers aren't listening to the people...they think we'll change our minds...but we won't. It'll be Hillary or McCain in Nov. We won't be bamboozealed by Barry. We are smart enough to know he hasn't what it takes to make good judgement calls. Just look at his short record.
Hey guys what about the pledged delegates from Edwards that went to Obama Today??

Drip . . . Drip . . . DRip . . .!!!
