Bush adviser: Dem reactions 'unjustified'

From NBC's John Yang
On Air Force One, not on camera, Bush counselor Ed Gillespie said the White House "did not anticipate" the reaction of congressional leaders to the Knesset speech, which he called "unjustified and unwarranted."

He said he was "surprised and curious" by the reaction. He noted that the president was restating long-standing policy. He challenged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden to "point to" a sentence "that they would say is reckless or outrageous."

He did not address Sen. Barack Obama's comments, saying, "We are happy to allow for Sen. Obama and others to express their own points of view" on dealing with Syria and Iran.

He acknowledged that the reference to Sen. Borah's comments about Hitler were included in the remarks because of the setting. He said the Knesset was an "audience where an understanding of taking the words of someone like Hitler seriously the distinction between good and evil is an important one."

*** MORE *** Gillespie went out of his way to say that he was speaking of the reaction from congressional leaders, specifically Pelosi and Biden.

Administration officials never dissuaded me from the idea that they believe Obama is included in the category of people the president described. They also stressed he was not the only one in that category and that they were not specifically targeting Obama.

While officials may have been "surprised" by the specific reaction, they had been touting the speech for days and even took the unusual step for this administration of releasing an advance text.

Bush you can use Ajax, Mr Clean, Spick_NSpan, you cant clean this up, you showed that you are the worst Leader (leader in question) this country ever had, If you  needed to make this statement, then say it on home soil, you are a Nut, and so am i, because i voted for you
The bigger comparison was definitely appeasement for Germans = Appeasement for Iran. Miscalculation, perhaps. But the intention is obvious.
"Lame Duck" Bush's remarks are what were unjustified.  Just as these fools in the White House never anticipated the trouble in Iraq after toppling Saddam they just keep sticking their foots in their mouths and then whine about the bad reaction they get.

Don't worry MainStream America knows who it's enemy number 1 is and that's the republican party and it's Lame Duck president.

Gillespie has been a propaganda tool of the NeoNazi's since they regained power so anything he says is just worthless spin.

Go Obama 08/12!
Anyone surprised that he doesn't get it? None of us here. The man is a complete moron. This was in a PREPARED speech on FOREIGN soil. Totally outrageous that a sitting President would take an opportunity like this to enter into the political race at home. If people can't see that McFossil would be 4 more years of the same, then they deserve to get what they vote for. If they've been satisified with the current Administration and what they've done for our country, then by all means, vote Republican. Geesh!
"audience where an understanding of taking the words of someone like Hitler seriously the distinction between good and evil is an important one."

Huh?  Plain English please.
The GOP are clueless. CLUELESS. They don't know how to deal with the democratic wave that's coming now and in the fall. It's like they're stuck in the 80's and using vcrs while america is on to dvds and blu ray. Adapt or be discarded.
++++++ Important

In retrospect  ...As much as I dislike saying --Pres. Bush has a point. I say an interview with Sen. Obama where he was asked who he might consider as a foreign policy advisor, and his reply was instant!

He stated "I know enough about foreign policy that I do not need to have an entire council of foreign advisors."  I thought to myself, this is a person who really needs to have much more experiance in the political relm!!!

Dangerously arrogant!
To further the hypocrasy, after Senator Obama responds today from South Dakaota, I anticipate that the Republicans will ignore the fact that President Bush started this farce and will then go into full attack mode against the Democrats and Senator Obama for daring to attack a sitting president while he is traveling abroad.  After all, they will cry, it's just not done!
This may be the only time I have agreed with Bush ever.  The MSM has missed the boat.  This is about OUR COUNTRY'S FOREIGN POLICY, not about MSNBC's golden shiny new candidate.

The candidate with the best foreign policy in this race is Hillary Rodham Clinton.  She is the only candidate in this race that I trust with our nation's future.
B. . .S. .  Bush.  You knew exactly what your where doing.

Stop the  lies.
Oh geez since when has the repugnant ones said it's okay for people to speak their views without being demonized by the clueless creeps of "Lame Duck" Bush's cronies?  Since never is when.

Just keep speaking "Lame Duck" Bush and "Bush Hugger" McCain so that we Democrats have plenty of ammunition to shoot you two birds of a feather down.

Go Obama 08/12!
It was ironic that GWB used the Nazi scenario of attempted appeasment through diplomatic meetings as an illistration of the stupidity of dealing with a nasty enemy when he was guilty of the same exact thing when he disregarded the attempts by the U.N. Germany and France to hold up and wait for international inspection for WMDs. He just blitzkrieged his was into Iraq.
First, the GOP has to stop thinking that the American people are stupid. Bush's staff members was observed yesturday stating that Bush's comments was aimed at Obama. Stop the innocent, I did not say that, bologna. It insults my intelligence. Second, diplomacy does not equate appeasement. Talking to our enemies is what Reagan did with USSR, Nixon with China and JFK with the cuban missile crisis. Diplomacy has always been the cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy. Third, it is hypcrotical of Bush to say that the U.S. does not speak to terrorists when he has spoken to the dictator of North Korea. Gates and Condi Rice have stated that the U.S. needs to have direct talks with Iran and negotiate. Fourth, the lack of diplomacy is what got the U.S. in Iraq and has not captured the person responsibile for 911 which is Bin Laden and his group Al Queda. We are not safer when Al Queda is reforming and stronger than ever and Bin Laden has not been captured.
What else is new. Whom ever dares to oppose Mr. Bush is labeled not patriotic.
He does not get it, He has never got it, and never will get it.  Our President is by far the worst is History.  I am ashamed to be an American.
A house (nation) divided.....thanks Bush...IDIOT!
Its a legit debate...what is the best way to deal with hostile foreign governments. We conduct that internally, not on a foreign stage. This is very dirty.
What else is new. Whom ever dares to oppose Mr. Bush is labeled not patriotic.
I believe Bush was referring to Carter's trip to the middle east last week, not Obama.

Regardless, I believe it was a good day for the Democrats.

Obama 08
I just love the way the knuckledragging Bush Huggers try to make light of "Hitler" Bush's despicable remarks in the knesset.  I like the way these true cowards are trying to make false excuses that he wasn't trying to attack Obama or Carter.

"Facist" Bush should never evoke Hitler because it's so easy to toss that garbage back at the biggest Facist Dictator in history.

It was the conservatives like Neville Chamberlain who appeased Hitler and it was the limp wristed anit-war pansy republicans in the USA that kept Roosevelt from helping out our friends in Europe and Asia by keeping us out of WW2.

Go Obama 08/12!
Bush and his people are disgusting, reprehensible people.  His comments in Israel were the lowest form of sleaze, and every right-minded person SHOULD be outraged.  To suggest that his comments were not about Obama is just plain outrageous.  How many days do we have to endure before this horrible Administration leaves office?
We're not going to fall for this one George W. Bush. You meant to attack Barack Obama in that address and we all know it.

You have been a disaterous failire of a president. The sooner you leave office, the better off that this country and the world will be.
Duhbyah is obsessed with Evil (left-overs from his alcohol and drug days, before Laura slapped the crap out of him) and seems to imagine himself as a great righteous leader at Armageddons door when all he is is a greedy, born with a silver spoon in his mouth hypocrit, war monger.  Is it any wonder why much of the world has lost respect and trust of this country?
Oh, give me a break!  The Bush White House, the most calculated bunch of scoundrels in the history of the United States, has never released a statement without the utmost intent at secondary impact.  They may have miscalculated the response (Terry Shiavo), but they have always had the hidden agenda up their sleeve like helping to place the (state)Constitutional amendment opposing gay marriage on 11 state ballots in 2004 in order to turn out the religious right vote, to defeat John Kerry.  The Rovian machine is alive and well, whether in flesh or spirit and nothing, and I mean nothing, is said or done by the Bush White House, without the hidden agenda.  The more the need for denial, the more obvious the deceptive move.

I'm gratified that the public is finally on to this devious administration.  I only pray that this two term nightmare is finally over.  Even in Texas, Bush's approval rating is only 39%...the ultimate justice.  Watch your back John Cornyn, your days may be numbered...Go Noriega Democrat for Senate from Texas!  Obama may even win Texas (latest polls show him 1 point behind McCain).
Obama '08
All I can say to the crybaby republicans crying about the Democrat's disgusted response is "Get Over It"!  Yeah you remember that one don't you?

This goes to show that the repugnant ones never think before they open their mouths.  Just like that clueless Kevin James as Chris Matthews showed just how stupid that repugnant tool was at knowing history.

Go Obama 08/12!
Bush doesn't have a clue.  McCain seems to have his head "IN" the cloud.

It's sad.  A few years ago, I would have considered crossing over to vote for McCain.  He's changed a lot.
The Knesset was simply NOT the time or place for Bush's comments. ESPECIALLY since he didn't bother to do even a little background research on HIS OWN ADMINISTRATION saying/doing exactly what he said was WRONG!  To the individual who unlocked the nursery room gate & let him out to act naughty again - you did it again!  You can't let him out of his little playroom anymore!  Just make sure he has his little sippy-cup & more crayons and he'll be OK!
Well... do I really need to answer this?  Isn't it obvious?

First, President Bush stood in front of Knesset on the 60th Anniversary of Israel and mentioned one of the most evil men in history, Hitler.  And why did our President do this?  If it wasn't for political reasons, then it was entirely crude.

Second, President Bush stood in front of Knesset in Israel and delivered what looks like to everyone a political jab at the Democratic presumtive nominee.  Traditionally, our politicians do NOT campaign on foreign soil.  I suppose this is why the White House is spinning so hard trying to tell us President Bush's remarks were simply thoughtlessly crude rather than crudely and improperly political.

Third, Senator McCain jumped right on President Bush's comments and tried to throw them (again) at Senator Obama.  In Senator McCain's defense at least he was on American soil when he made these political comments, unlike our President.
Obama should really be careful with his reaction. I think Hilary had the best reaction. She defended the Democratic party not necessarily pointing to anyone.

Barack is sounding like it's all about me. Or at least the repubs are successfully making him sound like one.
In the midst of this firestorm, and others like it, we are losing the most important point of all:

Bush wants to define situations in terms of good and evil.  The American public, the media, and everyone else has let this go on.  NO ONE has called him on it.

There is no such thing as good and evil.  Total BS.  To think that we are more righteous as a nation or group of people will be our downfall.  It is not the fact that we have a strong Christian backgound to our nation, but our actions.

Our actions of late do not make us righteous at all.  We should be ashamed of what we have done during this administration.

Good vs. Evil is Bullshit.

"the reaction of congressional leaders to the Knesset speech, which he called "unjustified and unwarranted."

At least Bush admits his comments were "unjustified and unwarranted." (If ONLY the man were that bright.)

Jerry - what do you think Bush is doing in Saudi Arabia RIGHT NOW? Good god almighty I wish you'd get a clue.
Baloney!  Maybe Bush can read a little history.  Try Harry S. Truman, Democrat and Arthur Vandenberg, GOP.  Marshall Plan, UN Founding and so much more achieved with bi-partisan cooperation.  Foreign policy discussion stops at the water's edge.

Bush, as usual, hasn't a clue.  You do not speak in front of a foreign legislative body and condemn your opposition party and it's candidates.  If Gordon Brown were to do this in front of our Congress, he'd lose a "No Confidenced" vote in Westminster and he should.

Both Bush and Obama have advanced Harvard degrees. I wonder if ther former remembers anything of his efforts.  Lord knows the latter does.

Even the Israelis themselves negotiated with their enemies. The Egypt-Israel peace agreement came out of that, and OH YEAH, it took a Democrat to do it.
"When you grew up did you ever run into any bullies? Did you tell them you aren't looking for trouble and just want to be friends? How did that work out for you? "

Again - way to miss the boat. It was OUR bullying that caused 9/11 -pure and simple.  Patty - when you were small did you ever kill your parents then ask the court for leniency on the grounds that you were recently orphaned? That's how much sense you people make.

And who was it in Iraq that was "bullying" us?
No Patty, my Dad taught me to beat em with BRAINS instead of braun...moron.
So your FIRST reaction upon encountering a bully is to pound them into the dirt?  How did that work out for you?  Did you try talking, involving adults, ignoring, maybe finding out that you were wrong and they weren't a bully all along but needed a friend...?

Sounds like a pretty violent playground to me...hitting back is rarely the answer and never the first as it tends to lead to just more fighting.

Obama for our best future.
Impeachment for Bush, cheney and GOP in Novemeber. Can't wait a moment when stonefaced McCain, Boeher, Lamar Alexander will concede defeat everywhere: in WH, House, Senate, everywhere. Disgust for this party from American people reached all time high - time to pay price for it.
