Delegate update: NC adjustment

Posted: Friday, May 16, 2008 12:40 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
NBC NEWS has adjusted the delegate split out of North Carolina, resulting in two more for Obama and two less for Clinton. Obama gets a net of 19 delegates, a 67-48 split, out of the Tar Heel State.

The NBC NEWS Delegate Counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,601 to 1,445
SUPERDELEGATES: Obama 292.5 to 276.5
TOTAL: Obama 1,893.5 to 1,721.5

Bring on McFlipFlop!

Obama '08!
NC sucks! Guess it's not racist when 92% of AAs vote obama, only white voters can be called racist.
Not much longer now...unite democrats, this is OUR time!
Accept it folks
Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States.

Obama 08'
It is becoming more and more evident that Clinton's chances of winning are becoming impossible. She could steal it though I suppose.

Dear Number & Political Junkies:

the url below the best site I've found for tracking all of the delegates -- it appears to be their full-time job so don't feel too frustrated that First Read isn't First Delegate Read!  Dem Convention Watch has a great sidebar that also compares other delegate tracking organizations.  NBC is usually the most conservation.

http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/01/superdelegate-endorsement-notes.html

anyway, enjoy!
Just CURIOUS:  why not including the 8 Edwards delegates?  It could become very important in terms of kowing when Obama crosses the 2,026 mark.
To borrow from football--Clinton may have had a beautiful "Hail Mary" pass for an amazing touchdown last week in WV, but Obama keeps grinding out the yards in a very consistent running game--for more first downs, touchdowns, and points on the scoreboard.  This has been an incredible primary! But we don't have much time left on the clock, and there are few time-outs remaining. It doesn't look like we'll be going into overtime.

At the end of this championship "game", we will have one winner, and one team--the Democratic team.  Let's rally behind our nominee, folks! (And somebody stop moving the goal posts already!!!)  (;-)
Well this is quite fantastic!  If the media lets the Clintons keep the popular vote for MICH and FLA they are just standing for everything the Bush Administration epitomizes.  Change the game, Break the rules, Win at all cost.  Rule are rules folks.  Next people will say the Puerto Rico popular vote should count.  Or shoot, even felons should be able to vote.  They ARE Americans. The average income in the state of Indiana is 40,000.  And it cost just able to same to house someone in prison.

If I knew we would solely rely on the popular vote to see who would win this nomination I wouldn't even bothered voting. Not because I don't believe in exercising my right, but because this primary wouldn't even be fun or exciting.  I think the voting trend of this primary season has told us enough of how people vote name recognition.  Get real people, and play by the rules. Our actions speak volumes of what we truly believe in.  I believe in upholding the rules!
Sara & Fellow Posters,  Obama's website updates as the SDs roll in. He currently has 1904.5
mmm, delicious.

Only 26 more till he hits the majority of pledged delegates, which represent a combination of popular vote and state win vote, just like our Senate and House of Representatives operates.

That is guaranteed Tuesday, and will probably shrink to about 15 by tonight, once the Edwards endorsement and Johnson switch are allocated over.

This will likely cause the flood that the media has been predicting. nothing can defeat a majority but superdelegates, and they would not risk their careers by overruling America's choice candidate.
Obama will have 2026 by the end of next week.

HRC, It's over.

Bobbi, Eau Claire:

Here is the difference.

Many African Americans are voting for Obama, not against Hillary's skin color. If Obama had not been in this race African Americans would have voted for Hillary (who is White).

Some White Americans are not voting for Hillary but  against Obama because of Obama's skin color. If Hillary had not been in this race those White Americans would still not have voted for Obama because he is consided Black. Unlike African  Amercians who would have voted for Hillary (even though she is White) many White Americans would never vote for Obama because he is considered Black.

Now do you see how your arguement does not wash.
Green Papers had the 67-48 spilt figured out on May 6th. What took NBC so long?
To Chuck Todd:

I appreciate you being conservative in posting delegate count.  When you post the Edwards Pledged delegates to Obama, please inform us your criteria for making a change. i.e. Do you call the pledged delegates direct?  Do you use postings on other websites?  Do you get confirmation from the Obama Team? How solid is your information before posting a change? Thanks.
Hi Sara from Mesa, AZ, thanks for the link. :)

Bobbi, something I heard Chris Matthews say the other night about this subject -

AA's have been voting for white people generation after generation. And they have been very loyal to the Democratic Party. Perhaps this year, it's not that they are racist by supporting Barack Obama -

perhaps they're just proud.

If they were racists, they would have never voted all these years. But they do. And in almost all cases, always for the democrats.
Bobbi,

As an African-American, I take offense to your comment.  I am not a racist and neither are you for voting for Hillary.  It is our individual right to vote for who we want, regardless of the color of our skin.  In the beginning, I was a Hillary supporter because I thought her to be a very intelligent and very strong woman (to have been publicly humiliated by her cheating husband).  Once the campaigning began, she began to act out in a way that was offensive to me and that is what swayed me away from her.  She is still intelligent and strong, but the way she has played politics has turned many against her.  Just look at the numbers, I am not the only one who has swayed.
Bobbie was it racist when those 90% african americans voted for Bill Clinton, Al Gore and John Kerry. Did you ever stop to consider that maybe people really dont like Hillary because of Hillary and that we are not all lead blindly. Is she a good politician my answer is yes. Is she a great politician the answer is no look at her strategic errors of this campaign , that speaks greatly to how she would lead this country. It's not her or his race it's not gender it just plan and simply her.
First Read and MSNBC are sooooo pro-Obama. Why are most of the bloggers here pro-Obama and slam Hillary?

C'mon Chris Todd and Domenico, write one (1) thing that slams Obama...c'mon, you can do it! Obama is not the Messiah! He's a first term Senator from Chicago!

C'mon, just once Chris and Domenico, write something critical of Obama. I dare ya! Betcha can't do it!
Dear Number & Political Junkies:

'sorry re the typo earlier -- NBC is usually the most conservative on the delegate counts.

(hey, it's Friday and a conservative Republican lawyer co-worker had just walked into my office just as I was posting!)

http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/01/superdelegate-endorsement-notes.html

Before anybody switches to McCain ...

McCain divorced his first wife on her proverbial sickbed (a la the GOP's Hypocrite in Chief, the despicable Newt Gingrich). What kind of supposed war hero divorces the woman who waited for him to return from the war, and concealed her own life-threatening car crash injuries for his benefit? McCain married his current millionaire heiress beer-distributor wife, 17 years his junior, one month after dumping Carol Shepp McCain, who, as Sen. McCain so gallantly put it, "was on crutches and had gained quite a bit of weight."

"In his book, The Nightingale's Song, Robert Timberg chronicled McCain's post-Vietnam military assignments and some of his "adulterous" behavior leading to his divorce from Carol and marriage to Cindy Hensley. "

"While Executive Officer and later as Squadron Commander McCain used his authority to arrange frequent flights that allowed him to carouse with subordinates and "engage in extra-marital affairs."  Such behavior was a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice rules against adultery and fraternization with subordinates... "

You can read the whole sad story here.

http://www.usvetdsp.com/mcaindiv.htm

I don't know how any woman could vote for this two timer and still look in the mirror every morning.

This time, instead of voting against abortion and gay marriage, and for prayer and guns (these issues will never go away) -- vote for your wallet , vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs.

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.
After the insane remarks from George Bush yesterday the Democrats had better get behind Obama and beat the REPUblicans.
It's time to win this election and up to the Democrats and Independents to win this race.
To: Bobbi, Eau Claire, WI

I'm sorry, did you fail History, or are you playing the stupid card?  Last I remember, native Africans and later African Americans were slaves for a combined total of about 400 years.  For an African American to vote for an African American because of progress is considerably differant than a caucasian voting for someone who is white simply because they don't want to vote for the African American.

If you would do your research, you would find that there is more than enough evidence of people who have said that they are doing just that (voting white, because they don't like black).

So, my question to you is, do you have the mental compacity to look things up that are factual or do you simply act like you know everything to justify your pathetic remarks?

Just asking.
"NC sucks! Guess it's not racist when 92% of AAs vote obama, only white voters can be called racist.'

I don't think it is...because Barack actually worked with AA as a community organizer. PLUS, and its a BIG PLUS, those are exit polls.  Although they are scientific they are NOT entirely true.
Maybe they should interview people in Oregon, my home state, and ask the black folks there if they vote for him because of race. Maybe that would justify your argument.  But I know in the GE tons of people will not vote for Barack because he is Black, and we saw this in interviews from people in W. Va.

But blacks have voted for Whites since they have been allowed to voted.  I love that word, "allowed." And haven't you seen the Clinton campaign stump.  She wrote off the black vote a long time ago, just as she has the latino vote.  No one talks about National Security  now that we are past the Southwestern states primary.  Just know that the AA vote can't win Barack the presidency, tons of white folks will vote for him as well!
I wonder if Bobbi was complaining when "AAs" voted for kerry and Gore by 88% and 90% respectfully.

It's only a problem when we vote for ourselves by 90%+.

The GREAT, WHITE, AMERICAN double standard at work, ladies and gentlemen.
Listen Really Clinton didn't have a chance.  Her negative were just too high going into this.  her not her husband.  everybody still likes 'bubba'.  but she has a reputation of being frigid, untrustworthy and fake.  I'm sorry.  she was my senator for almost 8 years I never really took to her.  I voted for her because it was either her or 'Ghouliani'.  she seems like just to smile takes a lot of effort and concentration.  honestly i think she did herself a hurting where her future in ny politics are concerned.  the people in ny are NOT impressed with the republican -like way she ran her campaign.  People on the street kept saying why doesn't she direct that vitriol to john McCain instead of a fellow democrat?  NY will vote overwhelmingly for Obama in the fall. in closing: she did it to herself
Bobbi, Eau Claire, WI - Time to grow up ..don't you think.   If they have voted for Clinton would there have been racist's....What about the overwhelming amout of women support Clinton received.  Come on...get past that non-sense...We have bigger issues with the GOP
Why doesn't the pledged delagate count reflect the Edwards Delagates who have committed following Edwards endorsement of Obama?
Only 24 superdelegate endorsements for Obama to shut-out Clinton from the nomination ... http://www.thedeadguy.com/
They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly: they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during WWII, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Pete - Albany, NY (Sent Friday, May 16, 2008 9:20 AM)

But Pete...the record shows that there have been very few incidents of Middle Eastern immigrants being mistreated by neighbors.  If anything this is just an example that the radical left has learned from the radical right:  Create a non-existent threat and then offer yourself up as the guy that can save the day!
campdog (Sent Friday, May 16, 2008 9:48 AM)

Actually campdog, right after 9/11 People of Islamic faths wer being threatned, businesses broken into, and anyone who een looked like they may have middle eastern ancestory were harrased. Htere was profiling by police, at airports and so much more. I remember even seeing Sand n*&&er spray painted on things.
I do not think Obama was sayin he could save the day as he was saying that he would nt stand by injustice to anyone. And if nothing else he hoped that the US has learned from its damaged past not to treat its citizens in such a disrespectful fashion.
It seems that Senator clinton keeps falling further and further behind by the hour.
Let's all unite behind the Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
It is way beyond time that we kicked out the neocons and their twisted, pathetic, wrong headed, counter productive agenda.
It is becoming more and more evident that Clinton's chances of winning are becoming impossible. She could steal it though I suppose.

---

I'm so proud of you! You just proved that you are able to read the stories every website in existence is posting! Tell me, are you ready to take on the fourth grade in the autumn? Your reading skills have clearly improved this school year, but how about your math, science, social studies and writing skills?

But yes, you're absolutely right, if Obama calls a hooker to his hotel, has an affair with one of his campaign staffers, turns out to be a prostitute in disguise, turns out to be a criminal in disguise or turns out to be a polar bear, Clinton can steal.

If you were being serious and you actually think she can still win, I think you should repeat the third grade, because your brain fuctions at a below average level for your age group. Afterall, Obama is 50 delegates away from locking up the majority in pledged delegates, and considering the trends in most of the primaries, Clinton won't pass him in popular vote. And unless one of the above happens, there's nothing that would make superdelegates flock to Clinton in the way she needs them to in order to win.

Anywho, thanks for the update Mr. Martini. As many before me have said, "You da man" when it comes to keeping track of them delegates.
Hey... where are those Edwards delegates in the pledged delegate total?
So, Barack is ahead by 172 delegates...ding, doing, the witch is dead!
Thank Domenico Montanaro. You are the man.
Truth must be told.
Bobbie get over it.  Find another reason to justify Hillary's lose and find another fight.  Only prejudice people are still hung up on this. 92% of AA are not black in NC, its 92% of the blacks voted for him.  In WV 95% of the people are white and almost 70% of them voted for Hillary.  Obama has won 32 of the 50 contests so far, including 5 of 12 primaries where blacks made up less than 10% of the voters. He also won in caucus states that are overwhelmingly white – places like Iowa, Idaho and Wyoming
Each day Obama grows closer and closer to the nomination. It's time for ALL democrats to join the leader and make sure we win this in November!

Surely Obama will get more Superdelegates BECAUSE...
Once Hillary’s 3 new economically-focused ads come out in Kentucky and in Oregon.
Here’s what their scripts should really be if she wants more numbers...

"What's Right" should emphasize instead of...

Who’s up and who's down, but in Oregon we care about what's right and what's wrong."?
We-e-e-e-e-l-l, since Hillary  factored in the cultural paranoia; an African American leading the nation is scary to some uneducated whites. How about saying we‘re moving up because no longer will we put down the Black guy.  That’s why we care about what's right!
Partner's script should emphasize...
Edwards—unions, and poor working class
Obama--change, inclusion of grassroots people which has generated enthusiasm, participation and huge voter registration is why...These two men’s models is now what is going to be emulated by me your candidate(me Your Girl, Hillary)because that's  what a true leader does for UNITY of the party and the nation.

Right Track's script should emphasize...

"It is wrong that a Wall Street money manager making $50 million dollars a year pays a lower percentage of his income in taxes than a nurse or a teacher or a truck driver or an auto worker making $50, 000," Clinton says.

We-e-e-e-e-l-l, since Hillary sent jobs across the sea; she has made the people of the United States of America the stock exchanged. She should say ...

I will no longer allow the people of the United States of America to be THE STOCK EXCHANGED.
Like sand through the hour glass, ...so are the days or our lives!
Bobbi in Wisconsin. Let me explain something to you. If 90% of AAs vote for Barack Obama because they are proud of him that's OK. If white women vote for Hillary because they are proud of her that's OK. They are NOT sexist. However, when white people vote for Hillary because they won't vote for a black man that = racism.  Now do you get the difference?
Turn out the lights..the party is over!
I had to drop off marketing material for my employer,  to a Local Republican Assemblyman this morning ( for his golf tournament); and yes I felt like a trader, especially seeing their proud to be GOP sign in the office. Mind you I am a recovering republican NOW PROUD Democrat, never the less I felt bad driving back to my office, when a 60-70 year old White man gave this 26 year old Puerto Rican man thumbs up for my Obama window signs, he than proceeded to roll down his window and said
" It's time to get that IDIOT out of the white house, he has ruined OUR county"
and of course I replied
"Yes he has, I agree with you!!!"

Change is coming, and it comes in all shapes, sizes and colors!!!
No more fear politics!!! Democrats, Republicans, & Independents UNITED for change!!!
To Bobbi, Eau Claire, WI

uh, WHO did your state vote for???

and WHAT is the demographic there? LOL

Go Obama!!!!

I'm so glad I watch FOX News for my political coverage. This station is so Obama. At least I get fair and balanced coverage when it comes to the News. Good Luck MSNBC with Obama. You're going to need it!!!
NC sucks! Guess it's not racist when 92% of AAs vote obama, only white voters can be called racist.
Bobbi, Eau Claire, WI (Sent Friday, May 16, 2008 12:50 PM)

Geez Bobbi, what kind of American are you.  I was born in NC and am frankly offended by your comments.  NC is a beautiful state.  If you have ever visited here you would know that.  Get off your high horse and quit trying to start a fight.  If you're gonna act like that, nobody really cares who you vote for.
bobbi..

it's not racism... Its called 400 years of injustice and young black children finally having a someone they can ACTUALLY look at and say, I can be president because it's been done.  Its older black voters who had limited asperations due to the times they lived in (segregation, the civil rights movement) to put a person of color in a position some died and fought for--equality.

Obama is a symbol of hope for alot of black america...

Blacks would come out and vote for Hillary... just as they did for Bill.  They realize their are subtle differences between her and Obama...

The people of WV can't come up with a legitimate reason why they wouldn't vote for him.  Obama and Hillary voted the same 93.8% of the time... tell me why there's a threat to vote McCain if she isn't the nominee? That is racism
