Obama responds to Bush remarks

From NBC/NJ’s Athena Jones
WATERTOWN, S.D. -- Barack Obama used his first campaign stop in South Dakota to respond to President Bush's comments yesterday to the Israeli Knesset that people who would negotiate with "terrorists and radicals" were like those who appeased Adolph Hitler.

The president's remarks have been interpreted as a hit on Obama, who has called for U.S. diplomatic engagement with friends as well as foes -- notably Iran -- and at a rural town hall with some 2,100 people in this June 3 primary state, Obama hit back against Bush and criticized presumptive Republican nominee John McCain, who agreed with the president's statements yesterday and called on the Illinois senator to explain why he wants to sit down with a man whose government supports terrorists and who wants to wipe Israel off the map – a reference to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Obama said Bush had accused him and other Democrats of being "appeasers" calling it a divisive, appalling political attack targeted to the domestic market and made on a day meant to celebrate Israel’s 60th anniversary. The White House has said Bush was not specifically targeting Obama, who also hit McCain for what he called hypocrisy.

"Then John McCain gives a speech. He gave a speech in the morning where he talked about the need for civility in our politics,” Obama said with a laugh. “"He talked about elevating the debate in our country.  He talked about reaching out in a bipartisan fashion to the other side and then not one hour later, he turned around and embraced George Bush’s attacks on Democrats. He jumped on a call with a bunch of bloggers and said that I wasn’t fit to protect this nation that I love, because I wanted to sit down and negotiate with tough diplomacy with countries like Iran."

The senator said he was ready to debate Bush and McCain on the issue of protecting the American people and argued the two Republicans should explain we the United States was still at war in Iraq and had not captured Osama bin Laden, why al Qaeda was "stronger than ever", why Hamas controls Gaza and why Iran has been strengthened.

As he has been doing for some time now, Obama sought to highlight what he sees as similarities between McCain and Bush.

"That’s the Bush-McCain record on protecting this country. Those are the failed policies that John McCain wants to double down on, because he still hasn’t spelled out one substantial way in which he’d be different from George Bush when it comes to foreign policy,” he said.

With historically low approval ratings for Bush and after suffering losses in several special elections, including one in a Republican stronghold in Mississippi this week, GOPers are worried their candidates, from McCain down to members of Congress will need to distance themselves from the president. Obama -- and Hillary Clinton -- have tried to do just the opposite.

Hamas and “hypocrisy”

Obama went further on the issue of Hamas, citing reports that McCain had acknowledge there could be a need to meet with the group.

"John McCain has repeated this notion that I am prepared to negotiate with terrorists. I have never said that. I have been adamant about not negotiating with Hamas,” he said. “In fact, the irony is yesterday, just as John McCain was making his attacks a story broke that he was actually guilty of the exact same thing that he's accusing me of and in fact was saying that maybe we need to deal with Hamas and that’s the kind of hypocrisy we’ve been seeing in our foreign policy, the kind of fear-peddling, fear-mongering that has prevented us from actually making us safer.”

He said McCain and Bush could not win a foreign policy debate on the merits and called the administration's policy on Iran "a complete failure" and said McCain was running on the same policy.

"He has nothing to offer except the naïve and irresponsible belief that tough talk from Washington will somehow cause Iran to give up its nuclear program and support for terrorism,” he said. “"I’m running for President to change course.  Not to continue George Bush's course.”

The senator repeated his belief in engaging Iran in the way that past president like John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan engaged foes and laid a framework for what he believes Iran must do.

"I understand George Bush’s secretary of defense suggests we talk directly to Iran, so I don’t know if George Bush is calling his own secretary of defense an appeaser,” he said. “"It’s time to present Iran with a clear choice. If it abandons its nuclear program, support for terror, and threats to Israel, then Iran can rejoin the community of nations. If not, Iran will face deeper isolation and steeper sanctions.”

Obama also sought to paint McCain as a flip-flopper, noting he had spoken about the possibility of a keeping troops in Iraq for 100 years (although McCain did say as long as there were no casualties) but had shifted his stance after seeing the polls.

"Yesterday he said suddenly our troops could be home by 2013, although he didn’t explain how he was going to do it," he said. "He offered the promise that America will win a victory, with no understanding that Iraq is fighting a civil war. Just like George Bush, his plan isn’t about winning, it’s about staying, and that’s why there will be a clear choice in November: fighting a war without end, or ending this war and bringing our troops home. Because we don’t need John McCain’s prediction about when the war will end -- we need a plan to end it and that’s what I’m providing during this campaign.”

McCain response & rural policy
The McCain campaign emailed a response to Obama's speech: "“It was remarkable to see Barack Obama’s hysterical diatribe in response to a speech in which his name wasn’t even mentioned," wrote spokesman Tucker Bounds. "These are serious issues that deserve a serious debate, not the same tired partisan rants we heard today from Senator Obama. Senator Obama has pledged to unconditionally meet with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad -- who pledges to wipe Israel off the map, denies the Holocaust, sponsors terrorists, arms America’s enemies in Iraq and pursues nuclear weapons. What would Senator Obama talk about with such a man? It would be a wonderful thing if we lived in a world where we don’t have enemies. But that is not the world we live in, and until Senator Obama understands that, the American people have every reason to doubt whether he has the strength, judgment and determination to keep us safe.”

Obama campaigned today with former South Dakota Sen. Tom Daschle, an earlier supporter and his event in Watertown was held in a barn. During his opening remarks, the candidate also hit McCain for voting against policies he said would help rural America.

"The fact is when John McCain had the chance to support alternative energy, he rejected the single biggest investment in renewable energy in history, including incentives that contributed to a nearly 50% increase in wind power generation in the last year," he said. "He’s voted against renewable fuel mandates and investing in clean energy over and over again. That’s not a record that rural America can count on. That’s not the support that we need to show for our rural economy.”

Sam Nunn would be a perfect pick.  Would he want the job?
My Fellow Americans:

Lend me your ears.  How much of a shame it has become that the leader of the free world decides to wage war on his own country.

To land in a foreign country and blast negative comments towards another part of it's own government.

This is admonition in the worst form; some could wonder if it's treason.  Will, maybe that's a bit too far...but yet one can think about it.

Then I think to myself ..what a mess the attackers of 911 has created.  The terrorists has already won.

They used two weapons - planes and fear.  Their purpose as far as I knew, they wanted to strike the symbols of our might.  WTC and the Pentagon...Financial Power and Military Might.

Their goal was for our destruction and to destroy our way of life.

They are accomplishing that; but not by themselves, but with the help and the mighty power of fear.

It was fear that caused the Republican Party to strip us of how liberties; it was fear that caused them to wage war on 1 country and then another.

It was fear that caused this administration to ease drop on it's our people...to develop the Patriot Act has an excuse to quail and prevent any Patriotic American from spreading the truth and the nasty well of the GOP.

Fear was used as the weapon by the GOP to monopolies the oil prices; thereby the gas prices...then came greed. The terrorist ..does know who greedy we can become. so the GOP continued to use fear, to use as a calices to change, create or ignore laws that would or would not benefit the GOP and it's base

No terrorist organization...caused millions in our country not to have healthcare.   Nor, did they cause the gas and food prices to go up.  Nor did they misled us and lie to us. Nor did they take our liberties, nor did they create Abdu Grub (the terrorist prison) nor did they allow hundreds of thousands to lose their home; tens of thousands to lose their jobs, nor did they invade a country and are responsible for thousands of death.. Nor did they cause the deficit to break records and will become a liability to our children and their children.

Nor did the overstretch our military and caused them to be weaker more than ever before;

There are plenty more the GOP has done to this country that the terrorist had nothing to do with (in the first person sense).

YOU THINK ABOUT IT....THE GOP has become in a funny sort of way the Terrorist., WAR MACHINE...the terrorist are winning; by using U.S. against U.S.   NOW. the GOP still wants to use "fear" for the next 4 years to continue us down the road of destruction designed and planned by the people that we think are our enemy.

It’s time for American to end the fight by the terrorist; we need to vote a Democrat in every governmental office of our land.

Thank you and God Bless America.
Obama thinks the world revolves around him.

"We did not anticipate that it would be taken that way, because its kind of hard to take it that way when you look at the actual words. ... There was some anticipation that someone might say you know its an expression of rebuke to former President Carter for having met with Hamas. that was something that was anticipated but no one wrote about it or raised it."

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/05/the_white_house_changes_target.php
Teddy Roosevelt said "Speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far."
While Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and Rummy have had no interest in history...this was a good stance and it applies today. Even Bush's hero Reagan spoke to enemies of the USA. At WHAT POINT, in speaking to your enemies, is it too late to use your big stick (large military)?!
I can't wait until Bush slithers back under his rock in Texas and stops making us all look like fools.
Obama thinks the world revolves around him.
------------------------------------------------------

it does and will when he's president of the United States of America
Mr. Obama if the shoe fits. wear it.

Nothing is better that Obamas fake outrage. LOL
That's my President Barack Obama!!!!!!
John McCain has foot in mouth disease.
In 2006 .. when he was still a maverick he was all for talking with Hamas !Thats something that even Obama won't do.
Now he says he's their worst nightmare ?
Give me a break !

He's too old to remember what he said 2 years ago !

McBush sure looks like he needs some memory cells !

Shame on him !
By the way ; Is it true that he receives Social Security?
More drama from obama! He is so slow to react to be "outraged" - guess he had to wait until he could have a prepared speech - delivered from the teleprompter!  He is an empty suit! How dare he trash the President - he is only running for Pres - Bush IS THE PRES - obama is a wannabe! and NOT QUALIFIED!
Obama has lots of problems - foreign policy is the least of it - he is NOT QUALIFIED!
The idea of Bush giving foreign policy advice is laughable. I think letting Osama bin Laden live in the mountains of Pakistan as long as he leaves Musharaf alone is appeasement.

Someone needs to explain to Bush that there is a difference between diplomacy and appeasement. Please get the man a dictionary.
Last night I looked everywhere online for a video clip of Obama of responding to Bush/McCain's appeasement smear. I desperately want to SEE and HEAR Barack cut them done to size. Hillary's answer to Bush was sweet but too short. I'm going to watch MTP this Sunday too, in hopes of seeing more Dems PUNCH back. I SO want to see Bush/McCain get told off!
Bush and McCain are going to double tag this election. Bush says something outrageous, Obama counters, McCain denounces Obama. Bush and McCain are joined at the  hip. More to the point, McCain can't win on his own and is trying to run Bush's campaign of 2004. Ask Hillary how successful it is to run a previous campaign in today's election cycle.

And this in spite of losing three red seats, showing even the most conservative of voters are tired of George Bush. I think that if your best chance of winning is to get behind Bush, you're so far down the rabbit hole even the gophers can't find you.
What, the Repubs needed to bring in Bush?

No big deal. Obama has gone up against Slick Willie,
daughter Chelsea, Hillary and McCain and is still on
top.

Obama '08
Before anybody switches to McCain ...

McCain divorced his first wife on her proverbial sickbed (a la the GOP's Hypocrite in Chief, the despicable Newt Gingrich). What kind of supposed war hero divorces the woman who waited for him to return from the war, and concealed her own life-threatening car crash injuries for his benefit? McCain married his current millionaire heiress beer-distributor wife, 17 years his junior, one month after dumping Carol Shepp McCain, who, as Sen. McCain so gallantly put it, "was on crutches and had gained quite a bit of weight."

"In his book, The Nightingale's Song, Robert Timberg chronicled McCain's post-Vietnam military assignments and some of his "adulterous" behavior leading to his divorce from Carol and marriage to Cindy Hensley. "

"While Executive Officer and later as Squadron Commander McCain used his authority to arrange frequent flights that allowed him to carouse with subordinates and "engage in extra-marital affairs."  Such behavior was a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice rules against adultery and fraternization with subordinates... "

You can read the whole sad story here.

I don't know how any woman could vote for this two timer and still look in the mirror every morning.

This time, instead of voting against abortion and gay marriage, and for prayer and guns (these issues will never go away) -- vote for your wallet , vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs.

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.
Bush lumped anyone who disagrees with his anti-diplomacy policy in with Nazi Appeasers.  That is a policy that Obama shares, so it was about Obama.  It may also have been about Carter, and numerous other people, both democrats and republicans (Hagel et al), but Obama is on the list.

And he says he's baffled by the reaction, didn't mean to be taken this way, whatever.  As usual, when given the choice of apologizing/retracting, sticking to his guns and being seen as the monster he is, or playing dumb and incompetent, he chooses the Barnet Fife route.
Good, stay on this - its a winner with independents, many of whom are so ready for a less arrogant and billigerant foreign policy.
Check out this Republican double-speak....

"It was remarkable to see Barack Obama’s hysterical diatribe in response to a speech in which his name wasn’t even mentioned," wrote spokesman Tucker Bounds. ...
Senator Obama has pledged to unconditionally meet with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad -- who pledges to wipe Israel off the map, denies the Holocaust, sponsors terrorists, arms America’s enemies in Iraq and pursues nuclear weapons."
--------------------------

So they say "oh, Bush's statements yesterday weren't referring to Obama, how presumptuous of him!".... but then they go on to directly make the exact same accusations that Bush made yesterday, and they direct them at Obama by name!

Morons. This foreign policy debate is going to be fun!
I thought it was about carter but Obama believes everything is about him. But hey it worked he highjacked the moment again got free air time all day what more could a guy want. He worked it like the good politician he is . Are you followers at least admitting that yet? He is a tough Chicago politican down with the best of um.I hope people get there act togeather in time or it will be a rough 4 yrs. Everyone says we wont go McCain but at least if we do we know our country will be in tact.Obamas wife says people dont like the look of change and he wont tell us what he thinks it will look like so shes right. Boycott first and lets see what happens. So afraid of upsetting one group and at same time slapping the other bigger one. This party needs an overhaul. He highjacked Hillarys big win from her tries to tell people we are done so they wont go out to vote. well Watch us this week,Obama people can stay home he says its over.:)
His remarks were awesome. This man is ready to lead this country down a new path to a stronger position in the world. It is time we had a president of whom we can be proud!
NBC abd CNN reporters traveling with Bush ,were briefed by Senior Administration staff members who said he was talking directly about Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter. Now, Perino and Glisspee claim he didn't mean Obama. Please, this was a co=ordinated effort by Bush and McBush.
George Wucking Bush should have mentioned how his granddaddy Prescott did the banking for the 3rd Reich, so he knows about Nazi collaborators, if not appeasers.

What a wonderful country we have, where any crazy SOB with money can be prezidunt.
Tucker Bounds = GOP mouthpiece = digging a bigger hole. For him to say Obama was playing politics in this matter is a joke in itself and exact why the GOP is being shown the door everywhere. Trying to label something a politics when it is a very real issue is the type of pandering Americans do not want any longer. Shut up and get some new dog food.
What's the matter, "The Truth"? Too uppity for you?
McCain's response is missing any kind of plausable explanation about HOW - EXACTLY his approach will be different from Bush's - If he doesn't like Obama's position - then he should answer Obama's question. He Has Not - Because he does not have an answer that voters would like (yet, though I'm sure his campaign is furiously polling to find a good response)
Obama thinks the world revolves around him.
The Truth (Sent Friday, May 16, 2008 2:44 PM)

No, it's called seeing the opportunity to take a stand on a position that John McCain will lose.  It's called taking the fight directly to John McCain.  Bush offered up a low hanging curveball for Obama to further tie McCain to Bush and hammer them on a position they will lose on because 82% of the country agrees with Obama's position.  Bush offered it up, and Obama hit it out of the park.
John McSame is like Bush's Siamese twin... joined at the hip... plays the same old Karl Rove style politics and claims to be "clean".  Total slime, and this time the American people aren't going to buy a snake-oil salesman.  Retire, John.  Collect the Social Security checks that a liberal Democratic President arranged for you back in the 1930s.
Is it not as much divisive that Obama criticizes his oponents, calling them 'war mongerers' and taking the '100 years' thing out of context to falsely accuse his republican oponent of pledging to stay in Iraq for 100 years? Be responsible and stop making it appear that everyone is trying to falsely attack just Obama.

Everything that each of these candidates says and does it taken WAY out of context on a daily basis and used by their oponents to create news headlines and to create an issue of the day to focus on, which only proves to further divide this nation.

Whether the democratic party is united or not, without having bipartisan relationships and without respecting and considering the views and agenda of people from all walks of life in this very diverse nation, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE DREAM/HOPE OF CHANGE REALIZED!
Senator Obama should have simply shown footage of Chris Matthews educating that Radio Talk Show host on the definition of "Appeasement" yesterday afternoon and ended the press conference right there.
Smart move Obama. Anything GWB says you should immediately respond and give him hell because nothing he says makes sense. And then always tie McCain to Bush no matter if McCain agrees with Bush or not. It's a winner strategy to the Whitehouse.

The Truth: You are getting old. Can it please. Your comments never make sense and are obviously those coming from a demented, lonely and sad person. Go sit over there in the corner with Bill Clinton.
Senator McCain said..
"It would be a wonderful thing if we lived in a world where we don’t have enemies. But that is not the world we live in, and until Senator Obama understands that, the American people have every reason to doubt whether he has the strength, judgment and determination to keep us safe.”
I would be happy if in your judgment and determination you would keep us safe; if you know the who are enemies like differences between Shia and Sunni in Iraq and Iraq and stop the charade  and war profiteering in Iraq.

Also your appeasements  have already have been given in  exchange in your support of  lives lost and war profiteering in Iraq. Obama has not given anything; execpt objections to your appeasements!
John McCain is so full of nonsense and I really used to like him when he was just a senator.  Now that he's a presidential nominee, we see that he goes back on his principles, by supporting the Bush tax cuts, NOW when he needs the base.  He has never even had to explain that one either - did you notice that?

Yesterday, he looked inside his crystal ball to deliver the message illustrating the end of his first term as President.  He told us everything we wanted to hear, but didn't tell us how he'll accomplish these things.  If getting up on stage and telling the American people:
- the war will be over;
- Bin Laden will be dead;
- gas prices will go back down; and
- our economy will be strong,
but hey, I won't give you clue one how that's going to happen.

Anybody can say those things, but it seems very few, if any, could accomplish them.  I think that speech he gave was a complete waste of my time and the time of the other listeners.

I feel like Keith Olbermann might be right when he states that anymore it seems when John McCain speaks, the headline should read, "Old Man Yells at Cloud".

Very disappointed in McCain for the way he's running his campaign.  He's got to do better than this if he has a chance, in my opinon.
Why if this country is so bad And Washington so in need of change why did Obama campaign to be there and work in Washington. He wasnt even there long enough to find th erestrooms so it wasnt from his being exposed to bad there. The majority of people here love our country(to late for the pin bommy)and want to be here. It offends me to hear nothing decent about it mentioned just how bad it is. Maybe its the wrong country for some to work for. Not being smart just looking at this from different view I guess.Obama said it was the best country in world now come with me and we will change it? What does that mean?Maybe people will get tired of hearing him and seeing him all the time and he will get blowback. We can hope.
I buy that. I think Bush's remarks - when I first heard it - was targeted towards Carter. Nonetheless, those who are able to think on their own two feet like Hilary reacted for the benefit of the Democratic party. Biden off course has more b***** than Obama will ever know.

Obama thinks the world revolves around him. He has the same foreign policy as say Hilary - but off course, all he can do is copy.

The funny thing is it took him and his speech writers 24 hrs. to come up with a rebuttal. Still they sounded childish, whinning and silly.

Obama meeting with Hamas and the like? Are we sure he won't run at the mere sight of the Iranian President? That man had the gall to go to the US and speak and let rocks be thrown at him.

Obama needs to grow a couple. And focus on learning more about foreign policies and have his own mind. He is looking more like the media puppet.

I'm not sure if MSNBC will post this because it is not pro Obama. But what the heck!
It is either hilarious or sad, not sure which, that George W. Bush sees fit to lecture on foreign policy.  This is the guy who let Osama bin Laden go unpunished for orchestrating the worst terrorist attack ever on American soil.  This is the guy who launched an invasion of a country that was not involved in any way in that terrorist attack.  By all means, Mr. Bush, tell us all about appeasement.  You're an expert, since you obviously are not interested in capturing bin Laden.

Obama in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
Since no one has argued for appeasement (giving Iran what they want) Bush's "some" must refer to those who have argued for diplomacy. By falsely conflating diplomacy and appeasement Bush is attacking Democrats, not to mention Republicans like Chuck Hagel and his own secretaries of defense and state, and most notably Barack Obama. Republicans are making fools of themselves on this whether they defend the naive position of not talking to bad people or try to excuse the presidents comment by asserting it wasn't aimed at anyone.
Bush attacked Obama. His attack was false (Obama has not said he would negotiate with terrorists.)And, his attack was naive, once again showing why his foreign policies have been the most disastrous in history. Policies that have cost over four thousand American soldiers their lives in a war that had no valid justification.
The Truth-
sorry but you are anything BUT "the truth"
In fact:

Here's NBC's John Yang:

Speaking on background, a senior administration official says the president's language to anyone -- the official specifically mentioned Obama and former President Jimmy Carter's suggestion that the U.S. talk to Hamas -- who has suggested engaging with rogue states or terrorist groups without first getting some leverage.

And CNN's Ed Henry:

Although the President didn't name names, administration officials are privately acknowledging this was a shot at Barack Obama and other Democrats.

The wisdom of talking with nations unfriendly to us should be patently obvious. Unfortunately the obvious seems to escape Georgieboy Bush and the Repugnicans.
What does McSame have to run on except the unholy trinity of Repugnican tactics smears, fears, and queers.

Obama in '08
HE WAS TALKING ABOUT HIM!!!

About Obama?

Responding to McCain's "hysterical" jibe, the Obama campaign sends over a couple of pretty clear indications that senior Bush staffers said he was talking about Obama before they officially walked the suggestion back.

Bush believes the world revolves around him, and it is strange that he stood before the Kinesset and likened Barack Obama to an appeaser of Hitler when his Grandfather, Prescott Bush funded Hitler through the banking schemes of Brown Harriman etc.  Loftus books discusses this in depth.  See also "The Plot to Seize the White House" (overthrow of Roosevelt attempt foiled by Brig.Gen Smedley Butler) by Jules Archer.

Bush reminds us of his family's history and if news coming out is to believed, not only is it a repeat of hatred and greed but a glimpse into a continuing theme of torture, control, and hatred.

Dana Perino is perfect as the mean girl in the Rovian triangulation Bush, McCain Perino tag team.  I know a lot about how this gets done and she fools no one.
Obama seems to think that everyone is out to get him. You think it is because that was the teaching of his church for 20 years. "All the typical white people are out to get the Black Man."
The GOP think that Obama cannot fight back just because he did not want to push back hard against a fellow Democrat.  They should think again!

Bring it on !!
PLEASE PRESIDENT BUSH HATES SEN OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS YOUNG WITH NEW IDEAS , HOPE AND PEOPLE WANT CHANGE. HE ALSO WANTS TO STOP THE WAR MCCAIN  AND GEORGE ARE WARHAWKS BUSH NEVER  SERVED BUT HE HAS SENDED OTHER PEOPLE LOVED ONES TO DIED FOR NOTHING .MCCAIN LAYED OUT HIS PLANS FOR 2013 THE TROOPS HAVE TO FIGHT THIS SILLY WAR FOR 5 MORE YEARS IF THEY DON'T ALL GET KILLED.
Obama thinks the world revolves around him.

The Truth (Sent Friday, May 16, 2008 2:44 PM)

If you have been watching the news for, say, the last 6 months, you would realize that it does pretty much revolve around him. And Senator Clinton. Now it's starting to revolve around the old man and his Uncle George.

It's funny that you call yourself "The Truth" and at the same time you defend what the White House says. Irony abounds.
Bush is over there to raise money for his library, and to say stupid things.  If it wasn't about appeasement it would probably be UNpatriotism.."There are some who beleive we shouldn't wear flag pins, but, that would be unpatriotic."
It has been apparent for years that Bush slept through his English and speech classes in school. Now it is equally obvious that he also missed history and political science classes, as well!!  The ignorance of his foreign policy has led to the quagmire we are now in in the Middle East.  He was too stupid to realize that taking out the evil dictator Sadaam Hussein was removing the counterbalance to Iran...he played into their hands!  His ignorance would be laughable if it did not result in such tragic consequences.  His administration...much in the style of McCain's 2013 speech fantasy...predicted we would be welcomed with flowers as conquering heroes!!  Obama needs to call the Bush/McCain foreign policy what it is...sublime ignorance!!
Now Huckabee (who supported Obama through the Wright thing) is taking pot shots at Obama... this is so incredibly weak. Post a blog on this First Read:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/16/huckabee-jokes-about-obama-ducking-a-gunman/

I could think of two better jokes. One about Hillary saying she heard a shot when there wasn't one. And one about Cheney being the shooter.

Huckabee, get your backward a55 back to church. You're obviously okay with joking about Commandment-breaking. Comments like this from people like him are why I left religion.
Mark Warner would be the per fect pick, but because of his Senate run this year, that is unlikely... My choice, Blanche Lincoln.
Diane Feinstein would solve many issues as VP:  woman, Jewish, experience, smart.
