Clinton mocks Bush on oil

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Hillary Clinton ratcheted up her criticism of President Bush today, mocking him for simply “begging” Saudi Arabia to increase oil supplies rather than having a real plan to deal with the energy crisis.

“I don’t think it is a good energy policy to depend upon the kindness of the Saudis … while businesses and individuals are trying to figure out how they’re going to afford nearly $4 a gallon gas and nearly $5 a gallon diesel,” she said. “The impact is really beginning to ripple dramatically through the economy.”

Clinton’s comments came during a roundtable discussion with local residents about a host of problems facing the country today, primarily economic ones.

“I think it’s very important that we do something more dramatic than going to have tea with the Saudis,” she said. “The Saudis may decide, well we better do something to help out President Bush, but that’s a short term fix. It is not going to have any long-term consequences. And we just have to take a different approach if we’re going to begin to get serious.

Clinton generally lamented the sense of “paralysis” in the country today.

“We just can’t get anything done. Here we are the greatest nation in the world, the greatest problem solvers, and we’re not solving our problems,” she said. “We’re not solving our energy problems; we’re not solving our infrastructure problems. I mean it just doesn’t add up. And we’re sure not solving our health care problems.”

Clinton chose the home of Sandy and Marvin Mehlbrech to make these arguments, saying she prefers the roundtable forum to big rallies.

“When you have just the big events with the rallies and all the ra-ra, and all of the speeches and the lights and everything," she said, "it doesn’t mean as much to many people, me included."

As the session wrapped up, Sandy Mehlbrech urged Clinton to “stay in” the race, saying there are many people behind her. Clinton said she feels that support, and then claimed she had a lead in the national popular vote.

“I’ve got about 50,000 more votes, which is really exciting, because that’s important,” she said. “We’re gonna let everybody vote. Obviously I hope to persuade those of you who haven’t sent in your ballots in Oregon to consider supporting me.”

Though she said most people haven’t sent in their ballots, this is Clinton’s final day campaigning in this state. Later today she’ll hold one last town hall meeting, organized by a local television station and to be broadcast live. From there, she’ll spend the remaining days before the May 20 primaries in Kentucky.

Zero Comments!   Post mine than you will have at least one!!!! or does it not fit with your agenda? If this is strictly a PRO OBAMA SITE post it and I will go elsewhere.
I love it!  HRC now claims she PREFERS smaller, intimate gatherings to the massive rallies.  Could it be that she couldn't raise a crowd?  Unlike Sen Obama who draws tens of thousands.
So Hillary wants all her supporters to go to the DNC website and e-mail them to count MI and FL.

Well I went on there and implored them to be fair and follow the rules they set forth, that all candidates had previously agreed to.  I recommend that all Obama supporters go to the DNC site and do the same.
Can we ask which party has blocked drilling off the Gulf and Ca. Coasts or in ANWR? And which party will not permit new refineries, more nuclear power plants or even windmills off of Nantucket?
This is the kind of talk America needs.Right to the hearth of the "real issues", that affect our families daily lives. You need inner strength and backbone and knowledge to confront the Powerful Oil Cartel to end the "trading speculation" that keeps our gas and oil going up every day.Barack Obama supported the "Dick Cheney Energy Bill" against the interest of most americans. It was the  vote for the"Dick Cheney EnergyBill a position of "Change" or a  vote  of  support of  the "Oil Industry"  wishes  with a hands off approach ?, that in a way translated into  the "price increases" we are seeing today.WE have heard Barack Obama talk about the oil industry  with the same "soft language" the Cheney republicans use.Lets try to stop the "increase consumption", he has said .But I havent heard from Obama  to say "Lets Stop the Increase Abuse  that the Oil Companies  and the traders Have!,"But I have sure heard Hillary Clinton saying so, clearly and loud, going as far as "calling for an investigation" of the price manipulation by the oil traders. This Hillary versus Obama stands on the oil industry says a lot about who has what it takes to get things done and to bring to the american economy the solutions we so badly  need in this times of crisis. Hillary is a fighter and a doer. And we need that.Lets seat Florida and Michigan. We will win andthe American people including the Obama people will win with Hillary.
Bush is an idiot and we sure can't wait till his term is up. And we sure hope McCain doesn't get in office because he's the same as Bush, an idiot. Bush could do something about the cost of gas, but he won't because he could care less for the American people. Obama, don't worry about what Bush says. Bush talks out of his ass. He doesn't know what end his head is on. Because of Bush, this country is going to hell.
Hillary, a very good candidate who, in any other election year, would have made a great choice...

Too bad Obama took the mantle of real change, ran with it, and became the nominee... not that I mind, it's just sad to see political potential wasted. I voted for you in "00, but it's Obama all the way in "08

Hillary who?
You mean she is still in the race?
Wow!
Well, o.k., then, now you see Hillary's energy plan. Blame the other guy. Aren't the Democrats in control of Congress? And isn't Bush a lame-duck president? If Clinton can't rally her own Democratic party in the House and Senate to push energy legislation, how can she say she will do anything as President? Don't look now, but Obama's no better. For all the Democratic talk about how things were going to change once they were in charge of Congress, the American people have seen no initiatives. Oops, I forgot. The Dems did pass an increase in the minimum wage. Talk about a Do-Nothing Congress. For all the problems in this country now the Democratic Congress wants to arrest Karl Rove. This is what passes for leadership from the Democrats. Kind of makes you really look forward to the next 4 years, doesn't it?
Obama and Hillary. Tweedle-de and Tweedle-dumber. It unbelievable that in a year when the Democrats should just run away with the presidency, the Democraps come up with these two morons. Total up their IQs, and I think you might get a '1' on a good day.

If either one of these two is president in January, then Israel will not celebrate their 61st birthday. Either one will appease away Israel in a heartbeat.

McCain is sooooo much better.
Dear Hillary the answer you have is to allow the US to go after all our own resources, Oh thats right you and your democratic ilk hate te oil companies and they cannot drill anywhere even though they can drill better than ever. After katrina and all the wells that were affected in the gulf, guess what none of them leaked. If the US is to be oil independent then we need to drill. She is a phoney about Bush and the oil companies as she knows nothing about business and how it works. She just wants to take their profits for givaway programs and not let them use it for exploration and production.
Hillariuos Hillary Clinton, I'm still waiting for your solution. Perhaps you and your fello libs will let us drill in Alaska and build more refineries, hu?
Hillariuos Hillary Clinton, I'm still waiting for your solution. Perhaps you and your fello libs will let us drill in Alaska and build more refineries, huh?
Unlike Mr Obama who just wants to be President I think Hillary truly has a passion and dedication to do a good job for this country. As a black person I can truly understand Why Afro Amaricans are so motivated to elect an Afro Americam to be President. BUT THIS JOB IS TOO IMPORTANT TO BE RACIAL ABOUT. We need to elect someone who has the right experience and passion to get things done and I truly beleive HILLARY CLINTON is that person. Wake up America it's not too late. What has Mr. Obama done except reading a written speach and said he was against the war. Collin Powell was for the war just like Hillary because they were both misled. The man is an empty slate. Keep America great.
If we were the greatest problem solvers in the world
why haven't we told the oil producing countries to
go to hell and build alternative energy vehicles?

I am so tired of the self gratifying, "we're so
smart crap"  We dug this hole, let's get out of it.
So does Clinton think we should threaten Saudi?  No, no, I really like the idea of the dems raising taxes and stealing 10% of our income for health care.  I mean really, does anyone not know that if her husband hadn't given China prefered trading status, we wouldn't be in a situation where China was bidding against us for oil!  Ah well, just tax us, tax, tax and tell us that Dems have always fought for civil rights...we'll believe anything.
OK, then what are we going to do about it.  It seems like we are getting screwed by everyone in the middle east every time we turn around.
AMERICA NEEDS TO BECOME ENERGY INDEPENDENT AS SOON AS POSIBLE.
1. Drill more oil wells
2. Solar Power
3. Wind Power

And while were at it we need to raise the prices on any product that the middle east oil countries are dependent on us for.  Price increase should corespond to to the price of oil increase during the last 5 years.

Also, I guess we should send a bill to the Saudi Prince for protection during the last 20 years.
I doubt she has any real plan either, she probably wants to sue them in world court, we better drill right here in the good ole USA or we aren't going to be able to afford anything remember "If you got it, A truck brought it"
Bush begging the Saudi's for oil.  It's too rich with irony, if at all true.  More likely they're celebrating the biggest scam of all time.
I heard some very troubling news today...I read that the GOP have some very damaging material in their "ruin the democrat" play book that they plan to bring out in October.  Apparently, they have some sort of video footage of Michelle obama talking in Rev. Wright's church about "whitey" (meaning the white folks).  OMG...if this is true, us Democrats are screwed!!

Nominate Hillary while you can Superdelegates.  This is bad, bad, bad news.
I think Bush has cracked. Before Jan. 2009, he will be in the nuthouse. Hillary, listen to Obama, he's the real deal. He's made more sense than anyone so far. He really talks like he knows his plan, inside-out. Sounds like it will work too.  Nobody knows about how anything will turn out until they get in the House and go from there.
Good points from a tough lady.  Like her or not, she has fire in her gut.  Obama-Clinton '08 or Clinton-Obama '08, either way, a winning ticket!  Real change, not the "Change You Deserve" crap the RNC is spinning (sounds like an enema!)
Are we stupid or what!  The rich are getter richer and, well the prices says it all!  What we need to do is to vote every single person in the House of Representatie and the U.S.Senate out of office and start with new faces, if they can not do the job, then we vote then out until the politician finaly get the messate we are tired of being taken advantage.  We have to stand together and make our voice count.
VP          ED RENDELL?
NO WAY!
He is     named in the  Peter Paul vs.
             Clinton law suit.      FRAUD
How does Hillary figure she has the popular vote? Nothing has been said about counting the popular vote only the delegates.
And here we all thought that the Saudis were the best of hand holding friends with,"W". Whena re we going to wake up and recognize that the oil belongs to someone else and to get it we have to pay what they demand. So much for Cheney and co. coming up with an energy policy. Maybe they did as they don't seem to being too bad. Yes, I know it's all Carter and Clinton's fault, isn't everything?

Tune the media and the pundits out. It's the "Map" not the "Math". the media is not reporting this. They have their own agenda, and that is not always in our best interest.
Senator Clinton has the swing states, including Florida. Democrats will need these swing states to win in November. The swing states coupled with the popular vote gives Senator Clinton the nomination.
Before casting your vote go to www.hillaryclinton.com and read up. You will see why she has so much support.
Okay, hydrogen cars and fuel cells. Why are none of the candidates talking about the one absolute solution to our energy problems which are hydogen powered cars like Honda has just introduced on the west coast.
She almost had me believing her until she mentioned the "ra ra" rallies. It's the same old Clinton just tring to reinvent herself again. Who is she? No one I want to be President.

Criticism is easy, let'e hear her plan for solving the energy crisis.
Right on, Hillary!  Your voice is needed...as a senate leader.  Keep givin' Bush hell.
And Hillary's method of dealing with high oil prices?
Tax the oil companies more(so they can pass on added cost to us), Not allow drilling along with most of the Dems and some so called Republicans like McCain where we have oil, kowtow to the environMENTAL cases preventing us from clean coal, nuclear, increasing our refining capacity and giving us Ethanol driving up our food costs tremendously.
If the EnvironMENTALists hadn't succeded in derailing GW's plan to open up drilling everywhere including ANWAR and building refineries, we now would be reaping the reward of lower prices.
Hillary has a vast reserve of knowledge and experience in which we can place our trust as the President of the U.S. It's unfortunate that she is being squeezed out by individuals who don't have an ounce of moral integrity nor do they have a clue as to what they are doing. Obama has no such reserve. He wants a free ride to the white house.. if anyone dares to question his royal highness, he cries and whines. They are distractions and attacks on his character. Why shouldn't he be questioned..ie.." The lack of historical knowledge among journalists is merely appalling. But in a presidential candidate it's dangerous. As Sir Winston Churchill said:

"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
(crickets) (crickets) no comments huh?? Ok I thought this nomination process was over but just wanted to make sure. Hillary's stories are getting no comments lol.Back to the sounds of crickets chirping. (crickets).
well what's she going to do?
I think this approach by Hillary is much more productive than criticizing Obama at this stage of the game.  Both campaigns should hammer McSame by linking him to Bush at every turn.  Go get him Hillary!
The old nag with rubber lips always has a put down! yet reality shows just a stupid red beck always shooting of her mouth! Some one shove a cork in her big rattle trap. Hey Hillary STFU!!!!
Well Hillary, We haven't heard your solutions to the problems either. You tried passing health care in the past and you failed. You have been all talk and no action as a senator. Have you introduced any bills in the senate to solve the energy crisis? Or is your short term gas tax holiday the solution !
Hillary, I like what you said about Bush's energy policy, but winning the popular vote?  What alternate reality are you living in?  Obama's winning the popular vote by hundreds of thousands, even if you include Michigan and Florida.  Please...just tell the truth.
Tell it like it is Hillary.  We have played the Saudis games for many years and have gone to war for them...they should show they are on our side but enjoy our begging for oil.
There she goes lying again.  Obama has the most votes, you can not leave out votes because in your mind they do not count.
yeah stsay in Hillary.  you are the wild card we don't want Obama and we don't wsant another 4 years of Bush policies so you win by default.
clinton was not in the news at all today...except for this little last minute thing
Hillary, as a fellow white woman your age, it truly is time to just 'give it up'!  THIS TIME...  I believe with all my heart, soul and brain that Barack will 'turn the page' with your help!

I truly want to see a woman president in my lifetime, and hope to see it, someday...

Today, we NEED Barack Obama...  Read his book...
Why are we not tapping into our own resources?  Off shore drilling and drilling in Alaska just can't seem to pass congress why?
Hill, stop playing games and back Obama, help make our party stronger
Hubby and I are truck drivers, and Senator Clinton's the ONLY one out there concerned for the high costs we incur in purchasing diesel. We salute and support her, 100%.
Dog gone it!  Hillary had me applauding her (in this article) about energy and Bush, etc. and then she  had to go off with junk having 50K more votes.  I guess she will never realize that a president has to play within the lines to be effective.
