Day in Delegates: Obama 4-0

Posted: Wednesday, May 28, 2008 4:04 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
The only bit of superdelegate movement since First Thoughts today was the endorsement of Oregon Democratic Party Chairwoman Meredith Wood Smith for Obama. She penned an op-ed in support of the Illinois senator. (Wood Smith is in addition to the two others we named in First Thoughts: Ben Pangelin from Guam and Pat Waak from Colorado. We adjusted the headline to reflect the day's gain.)

The NBC NEWS Delegate Counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1649 to 1500
SUPERDELEGATES: Obama 319.5 to 283.5
EDWARDS PL.: Obama 12 to 0
TOTAL: Obama 1,980.5 to 1,783.5.

* Obama is now 45.5 delegates away from 2,026.

*** UPDATE *** Another Oregon superdelegate for Obama -- Wayne Kinney. There are five from Oregon uncommitted, including a still unnamed add-on. (Numbers adjusted above.)

Why is HuffPo reporting three endorsements today?

"Three superdelegates have come out to day endorsing Barack Obama: Pat Waak from Colorado, Meredith Wood Smith from Oregon and Ben Pangelinan from Guam."

OBAMA '08
Almost there! Keep 'em coming.

A Dissertation on Disillusionment: http://blakeneven.blogspot.com
Meredith, didn't you get the letter?   How could you possibly endorse Obama after getting that "fact" filled diatribe about HRC's superior electability?
It is called earning delegates.

Back to the USA we know...hard work, dedication, and determination will take you anywhere and everywhere.

That's something to pass on to your children!
Only 47 more sraws to break Hillary's back. That is if she doesn't kill the donkey first.
Yea Oregon

SOOO proud of my state, that 75,000 Portland Obama rally was incredible.

GO OBAMA
Superdelegates, please give Obama the richly and inarguably earned freedom to win this election without self-serving interference.  There is way too much at stake.
WELCOME ABOARD THE WINNING TRAIN!

CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS PRIMARY CAMPAIGN TO BE OVER!

Yes! Thank you. Supers please put an end to this charade. I can see the rules convention this Saturday.Thiry people sitting at a Beggars Banquet listening to some Sympathy For the Devil. Obama 08
One more nail in the Clintons coffin.  GO OBAMA!
STAY WITH WHATS IMPORTANT, PLEASE!

MSNBC YOU ARE BLOWING IT AGIAN. WHO CARES ABOUT HILLARY AND THE LEFT WING MEDIA. THIS STORY IS BIGGER THAN WATER-GATE DO YOUR JOB!

PLEASE MSNBC: STAY ON THE REAL STORY WE RELY ON YOU FOR INFORMATION: 4000 DEAD AND FOR WHAT! WHAT DID WE ACCOMPLISH GOING INTO IRAQ!

THIS IS THE WORST CRIME EVER MADE BY AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT. COME ON MSNBC THINK, YOU HAVE TO THINK! DO WHATS RIGHT FOR ALL AMERICANS, DIG DEEP THIS IS THE STORY THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW!

The media is the real story. . They let us down with Bush and Iraq! They really let THE AMERICAN PEOPLE down.

Over 4000 dead, what do you say to those families? BUSH, MCCAIN and CLINTON, need to apologize to all AMERICANS for sending them to there death's! Bush should be removed from office ASAP. Congress should start the Iraqi WAR hearings immediately find the truth please behind this WAR! Remove Bush from office, this will show all of America, the government still works for the good of the people. George Bush has destroyed the creditability of the presidency; even 4000 times worse then Bill Clinton and Monica scandal. If we ever need to go to war again how can we trust congress and the White House to do the right thing?

The only way congress can restore there creditability; as a functioning body of this government, is to hold formal investigations in this horrible American tragedy the Iraq War. I feel so bad for those families that give there loved ones to this American tragedy, THE IRAQ WAR!

For the good of America

he got three today name them!?
And the beat goes on.

All you Hillary supporters should read Hillary Rosen's article on Huffington Post.

It's not her Gender ... it's her CHARACTER.

And if you still want to vote for John McCain ... we will find other voters to replace you ... period !
Ms. Wood Smith penned a beautiful endorsement. Hillary just does not get these kinds of heart felt enforsements.

Have you noticed that Pat, Molly, Carol, Nobamas, John Doe............?
What about Guam Senator and Democrat National Committeeman Ben C. Pangelinan?
My question to the “under 30 generation” who for the first time in their lives “found their voice”… in Obama…..where have you been? Why not until now have you not exercised your right to vote?  You place your faith in a man who has not been tested, pocesses little record of accomplishment and little to no experience in international or economic matters. Go back and check the record…Obama released his platform weeks after Clinton released her Solutions For America agenda. His were extremely similar to hers. The Clinton campaign reacted to the release of the Obama platform by saying…”at least his is not that different than ours” So I ask you, what does this man stand for when he copies what it convenient to his campaign? For shame!

Life to you folks seems rather simple. I suppose in your minds, Obama offers a sense of entitlement both for himself and his supporters --- your/his time has come. The simple fact is that if you look past his rhetoric there is little substance. You buy into his chant of “change..yes we can” with little thought or experience as to the complexities involved in bringing about change.  Some of you worship him like he is a “messiah”, here to save us from ourselves.  He may in fact be anointed the nominee, and you like him, will think nothing can stop you. The simple and relevant truth is……. One can fool some of the people some of the time…but not all the people…. all the time.

McCain may represent a party for which I may not find a lot of common ground however, I respect his honor, integrity and sacrifice to our country, the scars of which he still bears as a testament to his courage…. And I will place my hope for change in him.---he is not Bush… He has earned my respect and most likely my vote and the votes of millions of others who feel the same way.

For the sake of our country and that of our future….thank god there are more of us than you, and we will not allow this fantasy to continue past Nov. DNC party chairs and uncommitted superdelgates…..you either stop this false prophet now….or we will do so with our votes come Nov.

And to all those, Obama supporters, who have previously responded to my comment, or wish to now I say this…you are being fooled by the joker himself-Obama. Study up on your American history….this man will put up a pretty decent fight, however in the end, he will join the ranks of Kerry and other far-left liberals….bitter and clinging to his religion wondering why he came so far only to have the door slam shut on him.
1 for the day??? You already announced 2 earlier, one from Colorado & one from Guam- so your headline "day
in delegates" is wrong....
No matter which metric you use 2026 or higher, HRC still needs over 85% of ALL of the remaining delegates to secure the nomination.

It's time to join together to work towards electing a Democratic President with a workable Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate.

This time do something smart and vote for your wallet, vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs.

Vote for the smartest candidate in the race, a real leader (and no that's not McCain -- not by a long shot)

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.
That's one 50+ year old womans vote Hillary didn't get.
whatever! Hillary will be the nominee! And all who turned their back on her will rue the day they did!!!
What about Ben C. Pangelinan and Pat Waak ???
Will the rest of the SD's PLEASE get off the fence?
The insanity is almost over.  Congratulations, Senator Obama!
Huffington Post is reporting 3 - Three superdelegates have come out to day endorsing Barack Obama: Pat Waak from Colorado, Meredith Wood Smith from Oregon and Ben Pangelinan from Guam.
OK, here come the flood "Go Obama" postings and everyone starts rehashing the math and what-if scenarios. Geez, it's the same thing over and over and over.
Obama is now 46.5 delegates away from 2,026, but I thought Hillary was winning? Bill says so; Hillary says so............how come he's so close? 'Cuz I'm a woman? June 3rd, please come quickly.
Hey Chuck, Domenico and Mark -

May I suggest the media re-evaluate how it's been calling states over the years?

Why do the commentators and maps say someone has "won" a state based on the popular vote?  This would make sense if the rules say the popular vote decides the nominee, but as we know, the rules say either delegates or electoral votes decide the nominee.

Think of a football game where everyone agrees beforehand that the points will determine the winner. Team A has scored more points, yet Team B has more fans in the stands. Should we call the game for Team B?  Yet this is what the media do.

In the Democratic primary, for example, it seems that: Missouri should be striped, since both candidates had the same number of pledged delegates; Nevada should go to Obama, since he won more pledged delegates; Texas I could see the argument both ways - striped since Clinton won more delegates in the primary and Obama in the caucus - or I could see it all for Obama since he came away with a higher total of pledged delegates from that state.

When I think back to the 2000 election, it seems the media isn't helping matters by continuing to emphasize calling states by popular vote, rather than by what wins, delegates or electoral votes.

I know this is how you've always called states, but that doesn't make it accurate - or right.
Absoultely no doubt about it . . . Clinton has laid the groundwork to fight this thing all the way to the convention floor and has every intention of fighting on after next week

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rachel-maddow/clinton-to-the-convention_b_103078.html

As already reported here earlier today, the Clinton campaign will not accept anything but a 100% seating of both FL and MI with MI's "not-Clinton" delegates all going to her carefully hand-picked MI delegation

Even after Obama clinches the final number of delegates next week, she will appeal the DNC ruling on FL/MI all the way to the convention floor

And make no doubt about it, the Republicans will fan the fire all the way to the convention and then still have the gall to say that the winner "stole" the nomination

Congratulations Democrats . . . you idiots have just assured us of 4 more years of Bush/McCain and a Supreme Court that will roll the calendar on civil rights back 100 years

un-freaking-believable!!!
Why does the Huffington Post have him picking up three today? We're almost there!!!

Obama 2008
Actually I heard today that one of "Bag Lady" Hillary's superdelegates that switched to Barack about 18 days ago has just switched back to the Wicked Witch of the East.

Still a good day to have another uncommitted superdelegate endorse Obama.  I can't wait for next Wednesday when all the votes are tallied and the superdelegates can finally endorse Obama en masse to end this primary farce.

Go Obama 08/12!
So if Barack gets 40 of the remaining pledged, he'll only need 6.5 Supers?  And if Florida and Michigan are added as Hillary demands?  What then? My desk is covered with tally sheets but I'm still confused.
drrrrriiiiippp!
who cares about how many delegates Obama has, I am a woman and I will not vote for Obama, 1st he is to inexperienced, he is a phony, he thinks he is bette than anyone and I will not vote for him I will vote John Mccain -
I think the score should be Obama 3-0, including the supers from FirstThoughts, no?
What about Pat Waak??  She is the Dem. Chair of Colorado that came out for Obama today.  Please update your supers!!!

OBAMA 08
KEEP um coming!
He actually got 3 supers today

–Guam Senator and Democratic National Committeeman Ben C. Pangelinan

–Oregon Democratic Chair Meredith Wood Smith.

–Colorado Democratic Chair Pat Waak.
Keep'em comin'!
GO OBAMA '08
i called for change in whashington please ppls i cant trust in washington no more !
Pat Waak? Hello?
Try to keep up
It is time for the Super Delegates to make themselves heard and finish this thing off. What is it HRC could do if BO reached the 2026 plateau, other than bring up again the 2610 number and totally finish off the destructive campaign the Clinton Machine has run, if that were to fly I think it would be the beginning of the end of the Democratic Party as we know it. Come to think of it that might not be too bad.
MSNBC please keep up Obama has received 3 superdelgates today....oregon, guam, and colorado!!
