Day in delegates: Obama 2-1

Posted: Thursday, May 29, 2008 6:26 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Obama picked up the support of West Virginia congressman and superdelegate Alan Mollohan. Obama now actually leads Clinton 4-3 in superdelegate endorsements in a state she won by 41 percentage points. Additionally, the Obama supporters are all elected officials, including Sen. Robert Byrd. Gov. Joe Manchin is the only elected superdelegate not to have endorsed yet.

Clinton got Washington state party vice chair Eileen Macoll, which we reported on earlier. In First Thoughts, we mentioned the Obama pick up of Gail Rasmussen from Oregon.

The NBC NEWS Delegate Counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,649 to 1,500
SUPERDELEGATES: Obama 321.5 to 284.5
EDWARDS PL.: Obama 12 to 0
TOTAL: Obama 1,982.5 to 1,784.5

Domenico - you don't say it here, but I keep seeing that the magic number (without FL and MI) is 2,026.  But if there are 4,049 total delegates and you need 50% plus one, doesn't that make the magic number 2,025?  Not that it really matters; Obama will surpass both numbers very soon.
YYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
"Obama now actually leads Clinton 4-3 in superdelegate endorsements in a state she won by 41 percentage points."

Bwah hah hah hah hah!  YES WE CAN!!
Things are still moving along in the direction of a nomination for Obama. All of Hillary's tricks are falling flat.

Patience is our mantra. Not to much longer now.
Well, it seems that WV supers followed Hillary's advice to not go along with the voters, but to vote their conscience.
He continues to beat her by every metric. I love it.

Hillary's grab for the nomination, is dead in the water.
Thank You, Congressman Alan Mollohan! Obviously you understand what is at stake.
The WV endorsements are stunning, considering how strongly the state went for Clinton and the exit polls that indicated more than 20 percent of voters there would never vote for a black man (to put it mildly).

I can't wait 'til this time next week when all this is over. I am ready to move on and wish I could skip the run-up to the general election. I can't take this anymore.
Thank you Lord...soon very soon.
Now doesn't that beat all OBAMA gets support from Ole WV and even beats HRC 4-3in a state in which he got walloped by 41 points. The Sdel's will be singing from now into next week.
Thank You Mr. Mollohan! I know that You, Rahall, Byrd & Rockefeller have represented WV well. Having been born & raised in WV, i know personally why the voter's voted for Hillary, & it had everything to do with Race.Thank's anyways for coming onboard the Barack candicy, as we're gonna need all the help we can muster to defeat the Gay Ole Party in November.

Barack Obama for POTUS !!!
Another delegate closer to the inevitable victory that Barack Obama has earned by his brilliant campaign.  I'm getting so exicted that in only a few days Barack will finally only have one enemy to deal with, "Bush Hugger" McCain.

Go Obama 08/12!
Superb!

A change is coming....America is about to remake itself and demonstrate to the world thart we are the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE.

Go Obama and the great Ameircan ideal!
I get a real laugh at those who suggest that we Obama supporters are vile and insulting because we support Obama.  We're insulting because of the way our candidate has been mistreated by one of our own party and her vile and insulting supporters.  We're just not going to allow people to trash talk our candidate with impunity.  If you don't like the way we trash talk your candidate then maybe you should try paying our candidate some respect.

We're going to be even more vile and insulting against our true common enemy "Bush Hugger" McCain because that's the way the repugnant ones play the game and we're not going to take a back seat to anyone in the trash talking department.  After 8 years of constant trash talking by the clueless ones of the conservative lunatic fringe we're going to come out blasting these nasty mouthed fools with their own style of game.

If they don't like it then I have 3 words for them: "Get Over It"!  Sound familiar?

Go Obama 08/12!
Despite Sen. Hillary Clinton's insistence that her husband didn't clinch the Democratic presidential nomination until June 1992, Bill Clinton had a very different recollection in his own memoir, My Life.

He writes: "On April 7, we also won in Kansas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. On April 9, Paul Tsongas announced that he would not reenter the race. The fight for the nomination was effectively over."
I love it, Obama leading Clinton in the state that she won by 41%.  We really need party unity to win in November.  Come on supers, it's up to you to help us get Hillary off the stump.  She needs to go, especially when Hillary is threatening to take this to the convention.  Please supers, step up now and endorse Barack.
To the Hillary supporters labeling Obama supporters as mean, disrespectful, nasty, and hateful. Don't blame Obama. You know good, and well that his behavior, and honorable message, are not deserving of such an unjust faulting.

It is You, and your candidate that has brought out the fight in us.

You have insulted us, and Barack. We refuse to offer ourselves up as the whipping persons for your frustration.

So, like Hillary, you blame us for the bad blood that you initiated.

Your complaints, are frankly, horse doo doo!

Senator Clinton likes to claim to be the role model for women in politics. If she fails to act with honor in the next few days, she will loose that claim to Nancy Pelosi.
I'm wondering why the press didn't make an issue of her lie about the $10 million she and her campaign staff repeatedly claimed they raised in the 24 hours after the April 22 PA primary.

The FEC report shows her contributions amounted to less than $4.4 million - and that for 48 hours after that primary.

Can we trust anything this person says?
KEEP FIGHTING HILLARY - MILLIONS VOTE FOR YOU - otherwise OBama would of won by now - he has NOT!!!
Looks like obama will have to Pay back lots of favors - thought HE was the one that cried "Go with the will of the people"!!  Seems that the WILL of the PEOPLE is with Clinton - SHE has the POPULAR VOTE!
*Obama now actually leads Clinton 4-3 in superdelegate endorsements in a state she won by 41 percentage points.*

Oh the irony. LOL
AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING!
After Saturday, this process will be at an end. I wonder what Hillary will do with all her new free time?
I suggest a tell all book.
If you really want to help people learn about John McCain, I think this link might be able to help you.

Visions of being stuck on a rollercoaster ride where the attendant has fallen asleep.
Actually Byrd have endorsed Obama.
move the pole?? Isnt it Obama who threatened delegates they had to go for him if he won the state or they wouldnt get reelected?? What a double standard nerd. Nother reason Delegates have to put Hillary in. It wont fly all the way to November.Come on over to Hillarys camp be with the winner.one thing I will give you, you are sure trash talking glad that makes you proud and is another reason your not ready.

Popular vote?  I note that the update is always
for delegates. Not popular vote.
 It's the DELEGATES.
Hillary Clinton is our ONLY hope to win the White House.  Obama is NOT qualified due to his WEAK, Radical, Questionable background and will Never be elected.
The obama group comments here are a DISGRACE to your guy - would obama approve???? Thought he was the great "uniter"
Are we there yet ??????????????

Are we  ???????????

Are we  ?????????????????

Need a ruling from CHUCK:

If the Clintons take this self-obsessed water torture to the Credentials Comm., ostensibly in August, can the Committee call an emergency meeting after Saturday and decide asap, like this week, and
maybe send the Grifters packing? Thanks.

best sports analogy I have seen was here somewhere:

Hillary is not merely finishing the game... she is demanding to play in the Super Bowl when she lost in the playoffs...

Silly, silly, lady.
Way to go Al!

Why is it the numbers for Obama seems to be going backwards? I think he's already at 2000.But anyway, all the supers should endorse Obama tomorrow, then the meeting will be minut..
To ET: We Hillary supporters don't blame you we feel sorry for you. You people are so disillusioned and beyond any help at this point...we pity you and hope that you see the light before it is too late.
Hillary 2008!!!!!!!!!!!
And here's the flood!!! Wait a minute . . . .
I would be so happy to get this all over with so we can get it together before nov.
By MSNBC's numbers (including Edwards' delegates) Obama has 1661 pledged delegates, Clinton has 1500.  Obama has 321.5 super delegates, Clinton has 284.5.  Total delegates are 1982.5 for Obama, 1784.5 for Clinton.

Looking ahead to June 1 and 3, the polls I've seen (mostly www.pollster.com) have Clinton winning about 49 delegates to Obama's 37 (give or take).

When added to their current totals , Obama will have 2019.5 delegates, Clinton will have 1833.5.  Obama will need 6.5 delegates to get an absolute majority, Clinton will need 192.5.

The problem is, after June 1 and 3, there will be only the remaining 191 super delegates left.

Clinton will need 192.5 delegates and there are only 191 left.

After today's super delegate news Clinton CANNOT get a majority of the delegates.  It's no longer mathematically improbable, but impossible.
