Clinton camp: Staff cuts aren't planned

Posted: Monday, June 02, 2008 12:56 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Ron Allen
The Clinton campaign is pushing back on the report that it has told the advance staff that their jobs are finished. They're saying "no staff cuts are planned," and are simply giving the staff the option of flying to New York for the "victory party," or flying home and standing by until more trips are planned.

Campaign officials gave no indication of when or where those trips might be. The only definite appearance after Tuesday night for Clinton is Wednesday in DC for an AIPAC speech.

Why reduce the staff?  She's going to need them to make a country wide campaign to support Senator Obama and fix the divide her campaign created.
what the campaign is over whowould have thought

See you @ the convention kids! My girl isn't going down. She is the ONLY Dem who can win the GE.
Giving them the option... :-)
... just put on a happy face ...

OBAMA '08 & '12
No staff cuts. Are they even being paid?
i thought clinton wanted to create jobs?
Somebody loves all the attention. What selfishness. She will harass Obama and seek to diminish him until she is given her due--the Presidency. What a shabby shameful woman she has become in her blind ambition.
A very bi-polar campaign that is now schizophrenic.
i guess bill hasn't told hrc that it's over yet. lol... she's becoming such a laughing stock.  i've never heard of having a "victory" party when you LOST!  lol
Why would she cut staff just months from the GE?
Hmm, gotta keep those last few donations coming in I guess!!

http://www.politivine.com
Sounds like a lay off to me. Don't call us we will call you!
I'm so tired of hearing the HRC argument about how she has the popular vote.   I think they're so full of it that they don't see how ridiculous it sounds.  To take credit for Michigan and not give any to Obama and not count any of the caucus states? How's that fair?  They sit there with a straight face and says Michigan is a full and fair election.  I'm just incredulous.
So now the Clintons are calling their own staffers liars.

Wow!!

It's just like the atheists, white supremacists, black supremacists, and repubs, who have begun to eat their own, because more than anything, they have a sick need to engage in agression, and conflict.
I find this interesting considering I just watched the interview with Harold Ickes and Andrea Mitchell and it seemed to me like he was saying that they are doing the staff cuts and this is not out of the norm since the primaries are coming to an end, which Andrea then said, if she was going to be the nominee she would need those people.  Ickes replied back to the effect that they would reassess and restock.

I think the spins and lies are overwhelming and after watching Ickes theatrics at the DNC meeting, I believe him about as much as I believe Clinton, which is not at all.
Last one out, turn out the lights.

Goodbye, Hillary. It was a good run but it's time, if not long overdue, to get behind Barack Obama and defeat 'McBush' in November.
Hillary is so stupid it is just too funny.  It is over Hillary, just go back to the Senate and make that phone call to the Syracuse Lacrosse team and congradulate them for winning the mens NCAA championship and add that to your list of great accomplishments.....

Then get hot in the Senate and do something for your country.....

I've noticed everything she has promised, she has not dne yet.  No bills for gas price relief or any of the other lies she told on the campaign trail.

Clitnon=Loser
Please wake me up when this is over and she has gone away. To hate is against all of my basic principles including spiritually, but I am now there with all of the Clintons, including their staff, and many of their supporters. I would NOT VOTE for her if she was the last person on earth
Yeh, we already know; you're going home to recount all votes.

FyI: Doesn't the Camelot Sword JFK passed to Obama make a sharp proposition for Vice President?
From Huff Post:

'... Tom Vilsack, Major Hillary Supporter, Says It's Over

June 2, 2008 10:51 AM

Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, one of Hillary Clinton's most ardent supporters, said Sunday it's time for Hillary Clinton to acknowledge she has lost her bid for the Democratic nomination.

Vilsack, who was briefly a presidential candidate himself last year, told the Associated Press it's "pretty clear that Senator Obama is going to be the nominee."...'

Dead woman, walking....

How about a little grace or class from the Clintons ?
Is THAT too much to ask ?

Hillary was earlier called the 'Al Sharpton for whites'

This weekend she was called 'Jesse Jackson for women'
i.e. sees herself as a 'victim'

Get REAL, Hil !

If you had voted NO on the Iraq War, you'd be the nominee

You blew it !!
That, and choosing incompetent cronies instead of competent campaign staffers.....

Character shows .....

Could people who say that Obama cannot win the General Election and only Clinton can win the General Election please provide some sort of evidence?  Heck, even if you just make something up that would be more substantial than, "I am a fanboy/fangirl, LOL!"

Seriously.
The MSM creating news out of nowhere...that's been such a common theme this whole campaign season!!!

Ever heard of checking your sources before you write a story??  Or is that too much to ask???

I guess it's just draw your own conclusions and run with it!!!  Whatever happened to REAL Journalists...to integrity??
They're not being cut, she's sending them to Disneyworld...at their own expense...and not asking them to come back...but she's not letting them go, O heavens No!  Her campaign is so well-run that she has PLENTY of money left for staff!
hey Mighty Blogger

what country are you from that says having a choice creates a divide?
After she won Puerto Rico.. Things changed!!

They got another 2 weeks before their jobs are really over!!

She may keep fighting this until 2012. There's a guy down on the pier that's been claiming to be president since the early 80's. It's really sad when you think about it.
Just more wasteful spending by "Bag Lady" Hillary, just more in debt she'll be if she doesn't stop wasting money now.  She can have her "victory" party to celebrate her inevitable loss and just waste more money.  How much money will she keep on wasting and how many people will she dupe into bailing her out of her wasteful ways?

That's why Barack Obama is the inevitable winner, because he ran a smart winning campaign and spent his money wisely.  He's going to bury "Bush Hugger" McCain with campaign cash and this year those stinking repugnant one's 527's won't be able to turn the tide.

Go Lakers in 5!
Go Obama 08/12!
As I have said,  She is planning to announce her victory tomorrow night based on the popular vote.  She is going to try to use her 'math' to persuade american and the superdelegates that she has won the popular vote in this election and that they must not overturn the will of the voters and 'steal' the nomination from her.
I am an Obama supporter and I am very concerned about what she is about to do and very disturbed by it because I don't see how her popular vote count can be considered real, true, and fair.  I say this because of the tainted primary results in Fl and MI based on the 'voter supression' and the 'supression of voter choice' that occurred in both states.  And because there is not true accounting for all of the caucuse staes that do not track he popular vote.
I am so disturbed and upset by what she is about to do. Very disturbed, especially because I don't think anyone really believes she will do this... but I can tell.  Ickes said yesterday 'SHE will be the nominee'. She said 'Let's keep fighting'.  It's obvious to me even if it is unbelievable to others.
Hillary will announce her run as an independent tomorrow night.  Rove will be her manager; FOX News will be her media outlet.
Why cut the staff? Someone else is going to have to foot the bill!!
Hillary would have no prayer in the general.  Polls in May and June regarding a general in November matter not.  Didn't the polls not long ago have Romney as the repub candidate?

Hillary has succeeded in making the general election about her, regardless of whether she is in it.  If/when Obama is the candidate, her spiteful followers say they will vote McCain because her highness didn't get her birthright nomination, though they have no reason to hate Obama other than he just appeals to more people.  If Hillary is the candidate, then many people will switch sides to vote because Hillary Clinton has the ethics of Karl Rove.
Turn the lights out, the party's over...
Bobbi, Eau Claire, WI (Sent Monday, June 02, 2008 1:11 PM): Why would she cut staff just months from the GE?

Bobbi:

Because she is not going to be in the GE? Because most likely she has not been paying her staff lately anyway and they need to make a living? Because Bill phoned her and told her enough silliness, get back to reality? Your pick.

Bobbi of Eau Claire....what is it that drives you and many other Clinton supporters?  I have a hard time understanding why you won't support Obama if he is the nominee?  Do you care at all about the future outlook of the US if McCain is elected?
Hillary is having a "victory" part on Tuesday, huh. Well, it will indeed be a victory for all of us when she officially pulls out of the race.
'..."[McCain is] wrong about Iraq, and he's wrong in the past and wrong about his ideas going forward," Gen. McPeak said. "And that's the biggest single national security issue on the table."...'

John McCain, Endless War

From Huff Post:

'...Retired Air Force General McPeak Bashes McCain

Jason Linkins
The Huffington Post

Retired Air Force General Tony McPeak, a national security adviser to Barack Obama, dropped the hammer on Sen. John McCain today, telling the Washington Times, "It doesn't take very long to uncover national security issues that McCain is weak on...For McCain to think he has a monopoly on virtue in the national security issue is going to be shown a pretty flimsy idea very quickly."

How flimsy and how quickly? As it turns out, very. And critically, McPeak attaches himself to the Obama campaign as someone who got Iraq right. From the WashTimes:

"[McCain is] wrong about Iraq, and he's wrong in the past and wrong about his ideas going forward," Gen. McPeak said. "And that's the biggest single national security issue on the table."

Gen. McPeak added, "[McCain] supported the intervention to begin with. Then of course he attacked the execution and he was justified in doing so. But the idea that this was a good concept, poorly executed, won't stand the test of examination.

"Now, it was poorly executed, so he was right about that. But the concept itself was fatally flawed. So he was wrong there. And his idea that all we have to do is execute better and this will turn into a big victory for us is wrong.

"So he's going to have to carry the weight, the tonnage of bad judgment on that particular issue."

Not surprisingly, McPeak also found McCain's notion that the United States should not enter into talks with nations such as Cuba and Iran to be daffy as well, saying, "This whole idea that diplomacy is attending cocktail parties with your best friends, that's kind of dumb. It's a national security issue that McCain is wrong on."

McPeak has become the "most senior retired military officer" to back Obama.
Chuck,

You know what I don't get. Why would the media skirt the issue that the Exit Polls in Kentucky and West Virginia told us that those Americans voted based upon race, and we keep giving Barack another hurdle to jump..."go get those votes".  No one tells Hillary to get African American votes.  And if they voted based on race, how does he get them without bleaching his skin?  They couldn't even vote for the white half of him.

No vote should be based upon race.  I live in the largest black congressional district in the country and our Congressionman is a white man of Jewish faith.  To be honest, he is 10x better than the black man we had.

The only way to move pass race is to leave the non progressive people behind and do what is right.  Then, when he's the President for all maybe, a light bulb will go off or attribute his success to his white half. (smile)

Progressive Generations will win this race for Barack, and Hillary can come to and be the first female Vice President.  If she chooses not to come, "Oh well, the train is still moving down the track.  I just advice her to move out of the way."
Reading all the blogs I have come to the sad conclussion that we Americans are just plain dumber that a bag of rocks. We deserve whatever we get.
"See you @ the convention kids! My girl isn't going down. She is the ONLY Dem who can win the GE. "

Bobbi, Eau Calire, WI

Well Bobbi, Do you think that if she had, we wouldn't have that nasty blue dress in our history books?

Sour grapes (no pun intended)

Being known as “a fighter” for the people is a respectable position. Knowing when the people have decided that they don’t want you as “their fighter” and gracefully bowing out shows caricature, and responsibility to their party.

No fuzzy math.
Leave the goal posts alone.

48 white blue collar male (not a kid)
She needs her staff when the polls near the convention show Obama is way behiing against McCain and she graciously accepts the nomination to "save" the party who will panic at the thought of nominating someone who cant win the general. Politics sometime sisnt fair Do obams supporters REALLY think if eth polls show Obama down against mccain, that they wont flock to clinton. They dont want to lose the white house!
if mccain = mcbush

then

obama = o'marx
1. Bill is too afraid to tell Hillary its over. I would be too.

2. Harold "Icky" should be the first one fired.  He failed to deliver on what he's paid to do.
The Clintons let the cat out of the bag. They say they were going to cut their staff and now to save face, unanounce their staff cuts. It doesn't matter, Terry McAuliffe was drunk on Morning Joe today and Hillary will be joining him tomorrow night.

Obama 08/12
Dakota, New Mexico, Indiana...etc.

You know how people say certain acts set a race or gender back ie, source awards for AA, well I believe HRC campaign set women back a long time and it is very very very unfortunate. Why can't people be honest with her and tell her that she is delusional.
only an obama supporter would post a story like this, or an obama newsgroup.  i'm sick of the venom coming out of the comments against hillary.  its the supporters who are making me go for the green party.
HAVE SOME COURAGE!

Please Super Delegates, Do NOT allow Hillary Clinton's self-serving comment (below) to become true on Tuesday night:

“So, when the voting concludes on Tuesday, neither Sen. Obama nor I will have the number of delegates to be the nominee. I will lead the popular vote, he will maintain a slight lead in the delegate count."

Now Hillary Clinton is lying about the popular vote, which has no bearing whatsoever on who our party nominates!  She and her campaign have proven they will say and do anything to feed Clinton's personal ambition.

What kind of a President would she make?!  The same kind that we already have in the White House who has constantly lied, not played by the rules, and broken all agreements in pursuit of his own personal goals and pride!.

PLEASE announce your endorsement and urge other super delegates to announce their support for Obama BEFORE Tuesday, so that the elected delegates from SD and Montana will make you him our Presidential nominee!

The Clinton campaign and supporters seem determined to sabotage the Democrats' chances in the general election if she is not the nominee.

What does that tell you and the Super Delegates?!

An angry over 60 White Female!
Bobbi, Eau Claire, WI - ya gotta lay off the Clinton Kool-Aid. If she steals (no that was not a misspeak on my part) this nomination, she will be defeated in a landslide in the GE because as you Hillary supporters are so quick to state, you'll need us Obama supporters in the GE and we won't be there. I know I do not speak for all Obama supporters but there is no way in hell I will vote for THAT woman.
Why leave them home. She will need many of them to support Obama for the General Election. Obama will need their help with the racists in KY and VA, and Purto Ricians in PR.
The Hillary spin machine on the Sunday talk shows made me sick...they all sound like they've taken liar lessons from Rove.
PLEASE, Hillary - leave NOW!! You've done enough damage with your delusional ego.
