GOP blasts Obama on eve of MN visit

From NBC's Caroline Gransee and Katie Mulhall
RNC chairman Mike Duncan and Minnesota GOP chair Ron Carey held a conference call with reporters this afternoon to discuss Obama's visit to the state tomorrow -- as well as to argue that McCain will be able to put the state in the GOP column for the first time since 1972.

On the call, the chairmen repeatedly sought to label Obama as too liberal and out of touch with the state, with Carey calling him “the most liberal candidate to run for president of the United States, certainly in my lifetime." They also argued that once Minnesotans see the “real Barack Obama ... not the PR machine Barack Obama” -- and contrast this with McCain -- the state will be winnable for them. They added that Obama lacks judgment, while McCain offers “solutions to the world."

Carey asserted that Minnesota is “certainly within our reach, despite what some polling might say right now," and that the state has been trending Republican in recent years (although Democrats trounced Republicans in the open Senate race in 2006). Carey also noted that Minnesota has gone from being the only state to vote for Walter Mondale in 1984 to coming within 90,000 votes of giving its electoral votes to George W. Bush in 2000, and again in 2004.

I noticed that McCain offers "solutions to the world". Well first shouldn't it be solutions for the U.S. And, second, how did the whole "solutions" campaign work out for HRC?  Hmmmm.... not so good.
Where's the substance and the blast? This is the same old rhetoric with nothing behind it.
McCain = More War, No Economic plan for regular people.

How is that going to help Montana?

I know the folks in Montana are way smarter than that.

Ha....wishful thinking. There is no way Barack loses any states from 2000 or 2004. The only question will be how many more will he pick up.

Obama got 141,725 votes in the Minnesota primary. McCain only got 13,826 and lost to Romney 41% to 22%.

Do these Republicans think labeling Obama "liberal" will scare people away after 8 years of radical neoconservative policies that have taken this country so far to the Right that most Americans think we are heading in the wrong direction. McCain ensures to continue these policies. I don't think the is a winning strategy for them.
"Carey calling him “the most liberal candidate to run for president of the United States, certainly in my lifetime."

WOW, that would make Carey about 6 months old. Has he heard of Dennis Kucinich?  How can anyone believe people who put out such whoppers. Zero credibility.
That was a blast?  More like a fart. Smells like one too.
The original definition of a liberal was someone who advocated change, new philosophies, and new ideas. A conservative was someone who avoided change, instead preferring to stick to the tried and true.

Still true today:  McCain = Bush = sticking to tried and true corruption, war, tax breaks for the rich, no plan for healthcare, war, cronyism, lobbying for foreign governments, war, a Justice Department run as the President's personal law firm, war, torture, big oil, war, contempt for democracy, pandering to the religious "right", war and more war. If you've loved the past 8 years, you'll love McBush.  He's what "Conservatives" are all about.
That's a blast?
Obama will fry the old man in the debates.  I hope he doesn't drive the old coot into a heart attach or something...
"to coming within 90,000 votes of giving its electoral votes to George W. Bush in 2000, and again in 2004" what does that tell you?? MN votes Democratic.
Are RNC chairman Mike Duncan and Minnesota GOP chair Ron Carey on high grade crack?? Let's see here; we have an administration comprised of a president who is one of the most incomprehensibly dumbest persons I have ever seen and an utter embarassement to this nations as he "represents" our country and add to that the corruption that he and Dick Chenney have instilled through out the world. Their corrupt policies have proved to be a disaster to our troops and have destroyed our economy at home. And Obama has lost touch? Get a life and a brain people.
McCain offers “solutions to the world."
AH, republicans-bring your "solutions" BS- It worked real well for Hillary. The GOP knew from day one they would lose the white house,so they agreed to make McCain the sacrificial lamb this year-hell they don't like him either...
Obama 08/12
WHAT SOLUTIONS DOES MCCAIN OFFER TO THE WORLD?????
WAR, WAR, WAR, AND WAR AGAIN
ZERO IN DIPLOMACY!!!
If "too" anything, the country is "Too Bushed" to listen to the Republicans.
“the most liberal candidate to run for president of the United States, certainly in my lifetime."

I thought they said the same thing about Al Gore, then John Kerry and now Obama?  They can't all be the most Liberal canidates ever?  It's almost like they are reading talking points given to them to read...hmmm...

If Minnesota didn't vote for a Republican in 35 years, with how the Republicans are looking, it's not gonna happen this time around either.

But it's so cute that they still try to make a point that McCain will win their state.  Very, very cute.
In other news...

Old man yells at cloud!
...while McCain offers “solutions to the world."

-------------------------------------------------
Great HRC's talking points... Isn't it strange that these folks give speeches about offering solutions, and imply that their opponent does NOT, because he... gives speeches...?
BRING IT ON!!!

NOT THIS TIME, NOT NOW.
I LEAVE I MINESOTA AND IF YOU THINK THIS IS A REPUBLICAN STATE YOU MOST BE OUT OF IT AND OUT OF TOUCH,, THIS IS OBAMA STATE SO BACK OFF WITH THAST STUFF,,,REPUB'S YOU GUYS ARE TOTALLY BONKERS,,,GO JOIN HILARY IN THE INSANE HOME
Once Minnesotans see the real bumbling, stumbling McIIIrd, Obama wins MN in a landslide.
There is no way MN is going to McCain this cycle. Obama is huge here with a fabulous grassroots movement that is second to none.
Just like always, Howard Dean and his friends have granted illegal delegates to Obama.  Delegates that everyone knows were Clintons.  Why! Because everyone knows how to figure delegates according to vote - Howard Dean you just broke a constitutional law.

Howard Dean, you and your media friends can pull all the fast moves you wish, you can project false stats (yes false - you see some U.S. Citizens know how to figure stats without the media figuring them for public view), you can claim that educated people voted for Obama and uneducated, labors voted for Clinton.  You can also write suggestive articles trying to make U.S. Citizens believe that "now everyone will just simply vote for Obama."

Get a clue - I an a Clinton supporter, I am very educated (PhD) and I definitely will NOT vote for Obama.

Why - He has too many close mafia friends, he has been a close partner with too many illegal actions (NAFTA), he is a racist (just look at his church and the minsters' (2)views where he attended for over 10 years), he is an elitist (he definitely thinks he is FAR above most all Whites, and Mexicans.  Additionally, he has NO (I repeat NO) experience.  One year in congress does NOT constitute enough experience to be President of the United States.

The DNC's actions just further emphasized the "hatred" that exists in the United States toward women.

Well - it is not over until the "TERRIFIC LADY SINGS."

Howard Dean you have used your power to MAKE SURE OBAMA GOT THE NOMINATION - BUT getting U.S. Citizens to vote for him (especially the way all of you have treated Clinton) --  it will not happen.

The DNC tried to pull this same tactic in a prior presidential election; and guess what - every state but 3 went Republican.

You just lost my vote.
Reading that, I can imagine Satan taunting Eve. "Come on over... " Don't do it MN.
I live in MN and these GOP guys are liars! Mccain will be very dissappointed if he spends his money and time campaigning in MN. His double talk has exposed him and his lobbyists ties have made matters worst. MN are very independent people they can vote whoever if you show clearly where you want to lead the country. The GOP is excelling in their usual political attacks and MN know that too well. Remember this is the state that voted for a professional wrestler because the Dems and GOP were attacking one another instead of sharing a program that would move the state forward.
Hilarious.
I count 7 Republican in my group of friends who are all crossing over to vote for Senator Obama, myself included. This Republican effort feels like the Bob Dole campaign and the Republican party in Minnesota is not getting “it.”
and?

Obama 08'

*This article is as about as smart as saying Wisconsin is a red state. *shakes head*
What I read here is FEAR...thats right....what other way does the GOP have than to try to insert fear and doubt?....It has worked in the past....BUT NOT THIS TIME....THIS TIME IS DIFFERENT...WE ARE AWARE, AND PAYING ATTENTION SO IT WILL TAKE ALOT MORE FROM THE GOP THAN THIS.....Question is do they have anything else?.....NO

OBAMA 08/12
America needs to get a grip (my apologies for use of a trite phrase). We are not going to have our first black president in 2008-2009. It is just not going to happen. You look at the headlines on MSN.com and see "Does this man really feel blacks are less smart". Who are we kidding? Our Democratic selves, that is who! We need to have a change and the only person that may be able to stand up to McCAin is Hilary. Face it, what we saw in the debates is telltale of what will come as we progress through these next few months. Hilary was given the first question, she answered it on her feet without missing a beat. Whether you feel good or bad toward the Clintons you have to see that she is the best person to be in the Whitehouse to make the changes we so desperately need. There is no way possible that Obama will win against McCain. When we have Super Delegates that have the last word, why do we even vote? Do you realize that we do not even have a good understanding of why we have this group deciding our fate as a nation?! Democracy is not even alive here in the USA never mind bringing our way to other countries. I often think that the average IQ of the typical American is in the double digits. When we take a look at the issues and what we need ot change we have failed to educate ourselves and stop making a decision for who would be the best President based on the facts we tend to go by our feelings or worst yet the look at the delegate...how handsomeor good looking. If all plays out how the Republicans wish, we will have McCain and Romeny in the Whitehouse and we will have another 4 years of what we just had. Congratulations America! This is why our neighbors look at us as pathetic. We are. If our election were held in 3rd world country we (as Americans and most definetly baby Bush) would come to the aid of that country crying foul. Look at what has transpired for our last election and what is about to happen for this one. We have to be sleeping. This is why we deserve our President.
MN won't be in play this year, no matter how many times the MN GOP and RNC say 'liberal'.  The idea that the state is trending Republican is ridiculous.  The only good year for Republicans in the state was 2002 because Senator Wellstone died and Pawlenty had a 3-way race for governor in which the Green, the DFLer-turned Independent, and the DFLer won 56% of the vote.  Bush got close in 2000 because Nader got over 5% but Kerry won by a pretty comfortable 3.5 points in 2004.  In recent years, the DFL has taken a veto-proof majority in the state senate and are close to a veto-proof majority in the state house.  In 2006, The DFL won the open U.S. Senate Seat in a blow out, picked up a U.S. House Seat, won all of the constitutional offices besides governor (Which Pawlenty once again won in a 3-way race), and picked up 6 state senate seats and 19 state house seats.
now that there is funny...  Mn a gop state..  ha ha...  when you wake up I spose reality will set back in....
McCain can't even keep straight the factions in Iraq.  He's had plenty of time in the Senate to work out solutions to the big problems that have plagued us for years.  He doesn't want to solve the health care crisis, the middle class crisis, or the war in Iraq.  He's been all over the board on immigration.  He wants to make tax cuts to the wealthy permanent. I don't trust him to take on the Republican establishment to take action on global warming.
The PR Obama is not the real Obama.  The real Obama seems to be s black supremacist, black liberation, anti-my Mother's race Obama.  Not acceptable to most voters. Obama & Michelle are lockstep with Wright, Pfledger, Rezko, Ayres, Dohrn etc. etc.

I support Hillary and will never vote Obama.  I don't listen to him anymore.
