HRC backer launching VP petition drive

NEW YORK, NY -- Clinton friend and supporter Lanny Davis is announcing this evening a petition drive to make Hillary Clinton the Democratic vice presidential nominee.

Davis, holding court outside the Baruch College gym Tuesday night, said he was starting the petition drive without the coordination of the Clinton campaign, and without their endorsement. He said a Web site would launch at midnight at www.womenforfairpolitics.com.

"Obama can win without her, but he can't lose with her," Davis said, noting Clinton on the ticket would help the Democratic party win women and Hispanic voters in particular.

Davis served as special counsel during the Clinton administration.

Why does the media let Hillary perpetuate that lie that she won the popular vote and got more votes than any candidate in history? She is behind Barack in the popular vote and HE got the most votes of any candidate ever. It's in black and white on realclearpolitics.com. She's playing with the math to tell a lie and her dense supporters are buying it and feel cheated when they are mistaken!

Lanny give it up because it's not going to happen. I'm watching Hillary lie her way through this 'celebratory' speech and she is such an egotist that she could never be a vice president. She is just so tone deaf; she has not even acknowledged the true historical nature of Barack's election and if Obama were to pick her as a VP candidate, I would be very disappointed. As for Obama winning hispanic voters, isn't Bill Richardson the ideal choice?!? Not only strong domestic and foreign policy credentials, but also hispanic and (probably) securing New Mexico, with the added bonus of making McCain work that much harder (and spend far more resources than planned) in his own home state of Arizona?

This is why Republicans have won more often recently. They have always put the ideal of the party and what they can do once they won over the infighting of personal differences. And now we see, just as we saw with her husband's presidency, that Hillary is more about herself than the party and betterment of this country. Listening to her speech tonight proved that she wants more for herself than this country. If she cared about the future of this country, she would play by the rules instead of creating new ones that would help herself.

It's truly sad that on the night that the democratic nominee was announced, she'd try to steal the limelight for herself. In the end we've discovered that Hillary will always come before the United States of America.

Either the reporting or Lanny Davis is wrong. I went to the web site and it appears to have been around for awhile and is not being launched at midnight. There is no mention of his petition. The following self-description makes it appear to be a whining site.

A petition drive to force Obama to put Hillary on the ticket is NOT the way to get the VP slot. Steps need to be taken to unify the party, and Hillary has to make amends for the horrible things she's suggested about Obama's electability.
