Obama camp responds to McCain idea

Posted: Wednesday, June 04, 2008 12:59 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
In a statement, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said that Team Obama would be open to McCain's idea of town halls across the country -- but would prefer a format resembling "the historic debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas."

“As Barack Obama has said before, the idea of joint town halls is appealing and one that would allow a great conversation to take place about the need to change the direction of this country," Plouffe said. "We would recommend a format that is less structured and lengthier than the McCain campaign suggests, one that more closely resembles the historic debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. But, having just secured our party’s nomination, this is one of the many items we will be addressing in the coming days and look forward to discussing it with the McCain campaign."

Last Night, we saw the distinction in energy and charisma of these two candidates:

McCain's Speech = Press conference for Accountants.

Obama's Speech = Rolling Stone's concert

It's not even close.  McCain should not push for too many debates with Obama....it won't be pretty for the GOP.

"less structured and lengthier"

McCain quick temper and uncontrolled bladder gives Obama the advantage.
Obama can stand alone and win.  McCain just wants to use Obama's charisma and popularity to bring in a crowd.  Everyone saw the difference between McCain and Obama's speech performances last night.  McCain can't get enough people to come to his speeches so he is going to try to use Obama and his camera team and people to make himself look better.  Obama Team - don't fall for it.
