No plans for Clinton-Obama appearance

Posted: Thursday, June 05, 2008 10:21 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Andrea Mitchell
Top officials in both the Clinton and Obama campaigns say that -- at this point -- there are no plans of a joint Clinton-Obama appearance soon.

Saturday's event will be just Clinton and her supporters.

The Obama campaign feels it is appropriate for Saturday to be a moment for Clinton with her supporters.

Good. They really can't stand each other anyway.
As angry as I have been, at times, these past weeks, I must say that I dannot help but weep for Hillary, and her supporters today.

Peace be unto them all.
Does it bother anyone else as much as it bothers me that the entire world understands that Hillary doesn't believe for a second that Obama can win in November and she's hoping against hope that he has derailed or derails himself by August?  I mean he has to embrace her, but how can anyone take her seriously with her campaigning for him?

The small chance she had at the VP slot was obliterated over the last 48 hours when she shadowed his victory with her nonsense, and the fact that her supporters are trying to force her onto the ticket so he has NO CHOICE but to stand strong and reject her.  If he can't stand up to the Clintons, how can he stand up to Iran?
There's no reason for Barack to be seen with this loser, anyway!
BUH-BYE, Hillary Huckabee ...
Do you think Clinton is bitter against Obama?

It kinda seem like it at times!!

I hope everyone in Clinton's world appreciates the graciousness and kindness of Barack Obama!
Yeah, yeah, but wait a news cycle, there will be plans before tomorrow.  It only makes sense to do with at this point.

The campaigns have to show a unified front and they can't wait.  Remember 18 M on her side waiting on directions from the tower.
I agree.
The evening he was just about to clinch, I was watching Hard Ball and then Race for the White House
and it was all about the VP and when is Hillary going
to end it...And I said,"Back off, let her be, everyone."
(I'd say the same about Obama if he lost this intense thing.)  Never, ever GLOAT.

 Let them 'grieve' as family.
In light of some of the negativity of the campaign to date, it would be gracious and appropriate of Hillary to embrace Barack and turn the mantle of her candidacy over to him.  There have been far too many mistakes and now it is time for an unequivocal feel good moment.
This is good.  I believe experts would say that most women take longer and need time to talk out an emotional decision after they have been so wraped up in an issue prior to changing course.  This is not sexism.  This is many books wrtitten as well as expert comments on the differences between men and women.
The latest poll from Missouri released yesterday shows Obama slightly ahead, though he struggles in Massachusetts! Full roundup: http://www.campaigndiaries.com/2008/06/poll-roundup-will-there-be-bouce.html
HRC is a divider not a uniter.  She continues to pour concrete on the glass ceiling.  Why Why Why!!!!!

Bob, Chicago
When the entire premise of your campaign is "change", I see no reason to ever appear with Clinton anywhere. To me, the Clinton's do not represent the kind of change that America is looking for.

Obama should just diss Hillary, and move on with supporters that appreciate integrity....rather than lies, whining, and fake tears. She is a lousy consideration for VP, and it just cannot happen unless they want to hand-over the election to the GOP.
For the sake of party unity, Hillary should have that public meeting with Obama much sooner than later after her Saturday concession speech.

Please note - its one thing to make a concession speech.  Its another moment to then stand with your opponent and emrace him and publicly announce your full support of his candidacy.
Why can't Hillary appear with Obama and endorse him like every person in past elections and primaries for years have done. What sore losers, arrogance and entitlement. They can't seem to accept in public that they ran a subpar campaign because they deluded themsleves from day one that they/she were the annointed ones. Grow up Hillary supporters! History has been made and not what you though it would be. Please do not cut your nose to spite your face.
Now maybee the "drama queen" antics of Hillary Clinton can come to a close. Call it what you want but the upstaging of an historic nomination and the lack of attention by the media to other than " What does Hillary want" did no one any good.  I hope some time is now spent on reporting on Obama.  I do not blame the media this was a staged news cycle by Hillary to maximize her leverage for what ever she wants.

On to Denver!!!!
I am 38 years old, and was never much interested in politics. So, you know, when all this primary stuff started a year ago, I really didn’t have much interest in any of the candidates specifically, only “let’s get anyone else in there other than Bush”. But, I started watching the debates and reading up on all the candidates.  In a perfect, ideal world, we wouldn’t be voting for a person because of their “Party” and friends, we would be voting for that individual who has a track record of crossing those very lines and trying to get the important things we all want in life: health, wealth, harmony and happiness, regardless of, gasp, party affiliation. Quite quickly, I realized Senator Clinton was head and shoulders above Obama and the others, on every issue, on judgment, character and certainly experience. She frankly blew me away with her command of the issues. I found myself picking the person that has a track record of what I am looking for. That person is Senator Clinton. She has worked hard and diligently for all Americans, and spent years (35) building strong relationships because she has a passionate vision of what America can be.

When I read that the "party leaders were tired" of the Clinton campaign bringing up the FL & MI votes for the past few weeks, I thought: well, E-X-C-U-S-E ME! I am tired of not having a say in a Presidential election, I am tired of not having my vote count, I am tired of no insurance, I am tired of little business in a struggling economy, and I am REALLY tired of some out-of-touch, well-paid, Washington fatcats deciding they know more than their constituents! The straw that broke this voter’s back was the way the DNC mishandled the FL and MI votes. That is NOT democracy, NOT the values of the Democratic Party and certainly NOT my values! The media has mounted the most biased, blatant one-sided campaign for Obama that frankly reeks of more than just voter suppression. What happened to journalistic integrity? What happened to objective reporting and let the voters decide? The misogynistic, gender bias that exists in this country is deplorable (from pundits, party leaders, the media) and if Senator Clinton gives in to the DNC and “follows the lead” they want her to take with Obama even after she is winning the popular vote, it would send a message that it is Ok to trash talk a leading woman politician, to belittle her accomplishments as if she were “just someone’s wife”, and this would send a message to every man out there to pile it on, to ignore and expect every woman to “get in line” like a good girl, for the betterment of society. Even if that very woman is the most accomplished candidate out there, or the most qualified professional for the job. What kind of message is that to send to our mothers, sisters, daughters, and sons?

This primary race has revealed a very flawed, twisted system and I for one will happily go back to my long-term Independent status soon, if Senator Clinton is not the nominee. I would love nothing more than for Hillary to run as an Independent candidate with 18+ million supporters strong. The Democratic Party is gone in my eyes. They have turned their back on the voters, on Senator Clinton, and on all that is good in this country. Manipulating the media, the voters, and the very “democratic” process itself has exposed our system as nothing better than any other country with flawed elections, tampering and propaganda. Shame on the Democrats.

Senator Clinton is the right choice, the ONLY choice for me in '08.

God Bless you Senator Clinton. You are an inspiration and a role model to all women and men who wanted to quit. Never give in, never give up.
someone wrote this in a blog and it is exactly how I feel!!!! I could never write is as well as she did and I want everyone to know how we all feel and that no matter what you media people and men say we will not calm down in a few months and get behind Obama!!! ever I am now voting for Mcain unless Hillary is the Independant
Once again its all about Clinton...

If she were Smart she would DEMAND Obama be there and give him a big Hug and Kiss..

Hill supporters can not vote for McShame.

Think about it??

Do you want War, No Choice, economic disaster, Tax breaks for the wealthy and an Old man who cant remember anything while his wife holds him up???

be Smart Democrats. Dont vote your emotions. Vote your interests...
I don't think Hill should have ANY appearances with obama. She doesn't OWE him anything. She is the best candidate and they both know it. She should keep a cordial distance because she will be blamed when he loses anyway. Gosh, isn't he "inspiring" though? We're really gonna make history!
It will be interesting to hear how "gracious" she manages to be when she finally "concedes".  Personally, I think her performance on Tuesday night was a huge mistake on her part.  I for one am grateful for her faux pas as I would hate to see her on the ticket.
We all understand the wisdom of Senator Obama basically not wanting to even comment on whatever Senator Clinton is or is not doing.

However, as a lifelong Democrat, and a concerned citizen for the future well being of our country and the world, I find it outrageous that Senator Clinton continues to make attempts to have the media circus center around her every move.  She has proven again and again that her "quest" is really about self- agrandizement and has nothing to do with "doing the right thing" for the People.  The Clintons have never spoken or acted on the behalf of the regular citizens.  They have used power and access to enrich themselves, while they sold out the working people of this country to corporate interests and became millionaires through their "public service."  The elected representatives of the People (Senators and Representatives) need to shut down the Clinton Media Circus and get the focus back on who matters in this election - the American People.
I think BILLARY should go QUITELY INTO THAT GOODNIGHT. They should just have newsconference to say thanks to their supporters and Congratulations to Barack Obama. THE END.
I think that's smart.  I have disliked Hillary throughout this campaign but she was a trailblazer - I'll give her that and she should have her moment in the sun without having to share it.   Time enough for that at the convention, she's most certainly earned that moment.
A recent email exchange with my friend in Arizona

By the way thanks to Auntie Em!!
Yer so welcome.  Good too, wasn't it?  But heres the thing.  Don't waste your vote on McCain.  Obama ain't the bad guy you have come to believe he is.  McCain is four more years of George What Me Worry Bush!!!  And we have to do SOMETHING to save our country and economy.   Its so sad how many people I see (while working at the elections office) switching to Republican just because Obama is a BLACK MAN.  Big damn deal.  He's so much smarter than McCain OR obviously Dubya, it isn't funny.  Give him a chance Ramon.  I think he'd do a fine job compared to what we have been stuck with for 8 long boring years.
Love, Aunt Em

Heres my problem I am a moderate.  I am willing to support people who are willing to compromise.  I know Ted Kennedy a  liberal will compromise.  I know John McCain a conservative will compromise.  I don't trust our country to be run properly by people who won't compromise or don't have to compromise.  If obama is elected and the Congress becomes a solid Dem majority with Pelosi leading....I can't have that.  I believe HRC even with a Pelosi lead Congress is more likely to be a centrist in policy than obama.  The best times for our economy in recent memnory were when neither party controlled both the Legislative Branch and the Executive Branch.

Dubya was able to force many things down our collective throats because he had a Repugnant Congress.  I don't want this country making a hard left turn under this unexperienced and to my mind lying hypocrite of a man.  I think you know me better than to think I would vote for or against anyone because of their skin color.

Electing obama and setting him up with a rubber stamp Congress is simply insanity and not the SOMETHING that is needed to save our country and our economy.
I don't think he is so much smart as he is slick.  I've seen too many con men in my life to be taken in by this empty suit and I won't use my vote to throw my country off a cliff.

Sorry Dana I'll be voting McCain for four years of you guys either cooperate or we'll have Hillary in 2012.

Peace!

Obama dosen't want to be seen in public with Bili-ary.

Hillary & Bill are "Radioactive Losers."
There is no way that Senator Clinton can force her  supporters to vote for Obama---they would have done it in the first place.Obamapods should just get over it
Let's stop this nonsence about hillary has 18 million votes, so does Obama, and he WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still don't get it. We as women want to be true equals. So tell me why HRC, more than any other candidate who has lost an election bid, is being given such preferential treatment. No one likes to lose a hard fought race. So is she given time to collect herself (at the expense of the party not to mention the nominee) because she is a woman or from now on do we do a national period of mourning for candidates that don't win? This is said with all due respect.
She is like the unruly kid in the Walmart Parking Lot who can't have thier way.

"This is my darned Lollipop!!!" "well, fine!  I'll give it to him, but first I going to bite a big piece out of it, lick it really good, put hair and lint on it and lots of snot and buggers on it!!!  Then he can have MY lollipop!!!"

That is HRC, Queen of Denial.
Let's just leave Hillary Clinton alone.  Those of you that pretend to be Barack Obama and come on the blogs to continue to disrespect Hillary are not supporter of Barack Obama - but others trying to keep us divided.

Hillary worked hard to win and she didn't, so let's not put more salt on her wound.  She will come around and we need to counter all of the negative against Barack Obama as well as Hillary Clinton and us real Democrats will focus on winning against John McCain

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
David Z. - Hillary could have 'endorsed' and hugged Senator Obama, the presumptive nominee, yesterday in New York. He had plans to be with his family and have a date with his wife. At least he has the sense to know it's not 'all about her' and understands his priorities. Aren't you all tired of her dragging this out? But, here I am, reading all about it too! LOL
Hillary Supporters who threaten to vote for McCain can KISS ROWE VS. WADE GOOD BYE!!!
I seriously think the people who continue bashing Hillary as she graciously exits the campaign, need therapy.
As a Democrat, I want them together immediately. I want them holding each others arms in the air.
Rudy Giuliani may be out of the presidential picture for now, but he may swing the election towards McCain. According to Katy Grimes at Townhall, he has the sledgehammer that just may deliver Barack Obama a knockout punch, again, all because his wife has a big mouth.
The buzz about a tape surfacing of Michelle Obama ranting about “Whitey” together with Louis Farrakhan and the Reverend Jeremiah Wright is interesting, if not a deal breaker. When it comes out, Barack will be permanently branded with the Nation of Islam - not a good tag when running for President of the United States.
To those Clinton supporters that say they will not vote for Obama in the fall; can I please have a GOOD explanation as to why?  Are you doing ok now financially, do your children have a good education, are you safe from terrorism?  I have not heard one good argument from these hypocritical people who will sabotage the democratic party because their candidate is not the nominee. Please WAKE UP and see that our country needs a change in the right direction and McGeriatric is not the answer!  Do you want four more years of the same old failed policies that have left all of us middle class people in a heep of trouble?  I can not for the life of me figure out why you can not get behind Obama for the better of America.  STOP THINKING ABOUT YOURSELF AND FOCUS ON OUR FUTURE AS A COUNTRY!
God, there's some dim bulbs here today!  Clinton running as an independent with 18 million votes means she finishes a distant third!  Maybe she doesn't owe OBAMA anything, but she sure as hell owes the PARTY something!
When will Clinton supporters "get it?"  She lost the nomination.  Stop talking about her being a great president.  Stop it.  Stop it.  I have a daughter and we can't lose a generation of women morning a politician.  Remember, this is politics.  We'll all be let down at some point in this thing!
Hillary should keep some distance between herself and Obama, when he looses in November she can tell the DNC and media "I Told You So" and she will be a shoe in for 2012.
Part of picking a VP - is that they have to be vetted. Basically means Bill will have to show all his financial donors for the Clinton Library. Remember Geraldine F. was picked as VP? They did not do this at the time and apparantly her husband had some financial problems which was found out before the general election. Also LBJ had the same problem - he was taking cash under the table for years in Texas. Now do you really think Bill wants to show his donors? No I don't think so.
Obama can with her supporters or without them ....they have no power ...they hold no sway ....they are meaningless ...the tsunami heading towards John Mccain and the Republican Party will not be influenced by Hillary's so called support base .
As an ardent Hillary supporter, I will NEVER support obama. EVEN if Hillary tells me too! He turns my stomach.
Obama can win with her supporters or without them ....they have no power ...they hold no sway ....they are meaningless ...the tsunami heading towards John Mccain and the Republican Party will not be influenced by Hillary's so called support base .
I wonder how many delegates Obama got today....wait, oh I forgot.......HE ALREADY WON!

Hillary is past tense and McCain is future, so Obamanites unite...and on to the November fight....

Go Obama, 2008
Note to MSM:  make sure you keep Hillary in your sights for the time being.  You're going to need her to blame when the Dems lose in November.  Who else are you going to blame?  Surely not yourselves or Obama.
It's amazing to me that as a result of Hillary, we still are not focused on the general election.  Once again, Hillary is sticking it to her own party and the American people in the process.

If she had come out on Tuesday night and conceded victory to Obama, she would have redeemed herself in my eyes.  But, as we all know, she again chose the "low road."

If the Clinton supporters are not with the Democrats, then they are against us.  It's as simple as winning and losing.  How long do Clinton supporters want to keep losing?
I don't think Obama has the necessary tools to run this nation. I feel we are in for a roller coaster ride to more trouble, a higher deficit, and life getting harder for the middle/lower class of people, who always manage to get stuck shouldering the taxes, and the expenses of the wealthy. There is no doubt in my mind that Hillary could have, and would have put our country back on track. I feel there is a possibility had the super delegates sided with Clinton, Obama would have screamed racism. Its all over but the crying now! Get ready poor people of America...We are in for it!
Take it with a large grain of salt the comments from Hillary supporters. I have hunch they are Republicans hyping the situation.  Kind of interesting that McCain" old man yells at clouds" timed his inclusive speech on the night of the party nomination.  I suppose this was a just a coinsidence. To vote for him is to repel  Roe v Wade, 100 year wars and Hoover like economic policies. The latest scare I hear is the election of Obama will cause a Wall Street meltdown.  My question is this not already happening under the Bush/McCain leadership?
There's no reason for Barack to be seen with this loser, anyway!
BUH-BYE, Hillary Huckabee ...

Dude,

I have to believe you are not five years old. Calm down.
And in defense of comments like this one; a lot of people where really dissapointed, and maybe upset, at some of Clinton's tactics during the campaign. You guys also need to give them some space to come to terms that she is still a democrat and hopefully will do her best to get rid of Mcain.
It goes both ways.

Still, there is no excuse for nonsense like this.
