From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
While the Democratic nomination is essentially wrapped up -- Clinton is to concede officially on Saturday -- First Read is still counting delegates. After the frenzy of endorsements from Tuesday on, First Read is crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s.

At least five more superdelegates we saw overnight and this morning for Obama: Sen. Ron Wyden (OR), Reps. Mike Doyle (PA), Mike Michaud, AZ’s Terry Goddard and VT Party Chair Billi Gosh, a switch from Clinton. In some way, superdelegates have always been something of an estimate. As we’ve seen from Tuesday on, there have been a handful of switches from Clinton. Expect even more, as Democrats looks to show a unified party.

*** UPDATE *** Another for Obama... Richard Ray, president of the Georgia AFL-CIO.

*** UPDATE 2 *** Adding Sen. Tom Carper (DE). (Numbers adjusted below.)

The NBC NEWS Delegate Counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,744 to 1,641
SUPERS: Obama 405.5 to 291
EDWARDS PL.: Obama 21 to 0
OVERALL: Obama 2,170.5 to 1,932

Those superdelegates waited until the democratic nomination was over before endorsing Obama.

This makes me think that they really didn't want to vote for Obama!!!

However, Obama will continue to change people's perception of him!  Obama in 08!!

I am and will continue to be astounded by Obamas nomination. I have been following both the democrat and republican campaigns and cannot believe how much has been ignored by both the media and Obama followers. I cannot believe this man has lost so many states by such big margins and the democrats actually believe he will win in Nov. What the heck am i missing here? Obama is going to re-write the electoral map-are they serious? Many of the states he won in have been red for decades and Obama is going to change all of that? how? by turning water into wine. The caucus states don't reflect the electorate. What are the democrats thinking. Speeches in front of huge crowds don't translate into votes-we know that.
It is great to finally see the party supers jumping in behind Obama! This is going to be an exciting and historic general election.

I saw where he had 2,177, yesterday, did I not?

How can your count be lower?
Once again to Hillary Clinton and her supporters well done . There have been many battles between us Obama supporters and The Clinton supporters. Now is time to bury the hatchet and not in each others backs. We have to be like a family . I can talk trash to my brother or my sister but nobody from outside my family can step in or they will be facing the wraith of both of us. Time to unite under the cause of getting those repugnante Republicans out of the White House. If we unite we will be unstoppable. Look at the combine totals in votes for Dems this primary over over 37 million votes . So if we combine we will conquer the republicans.  John McCain of pre 2000 is not the same man as John McBush of current years. He has completely flipped his lid from what he used to be.
That's a good sign of times.  You can't expect the citizens to be united if the leadership is not.
Concede??? I think she is gonna SUSPEND her campaign. She'll jump back in when the 529's start reveling obama for the snake-oil salesman he is.
Kudos on all this delegate stuff First Read team. Although, I saw a video of you with a hand written paper on the wall for keeping track & realize that you guys are hardly statisticians. ;-)

Two words for you MS Excel. hehe
THE NUMBERS WILL KEEP INCREASING FOR OBAMA & DECLINING FOR BILL-ARY.

I have to believe there is a handful or Repubs sitting next to their computer laughing at the childish reactions of the Dems after poking a stick into the hive.

Stop….... Take a deep breath….... Take a look at the big picture….... Redirect your energy.

Good for Senator Obama! He put his family first, which was his plan for the weekend, and kept his date with his wife! Hillary had her chance yesterday to be on stage with him and endorse him.!(oops, I mean, "Give her support to him")  She thanked her staff and supporters on Tuesday. It is so obvious she wants to do everything on her terms to drag this out and get more attention! Yawn.
Finally.  Now hopefully, everyone who is fed up with the arrogance and ineptitude of the Bush Disaster, and truly wants to avoid something very close to a continuance (McBush).... will join together, dropping the anger and resentment....and support Senator Obama through these next months.  We/America needs this change !
YET HILLARY IS STILL LEAVING HER NAME ON THE BALLOT AT THE CONVENTION JUST LIKE SHE DID IN MY HOME STATE OF MICHIGAN! HILLARY SPEAK:OH IT WILL NOTHING LEAVING MY NAME ON BALLOT.REALY?
I just read some of the viewer's comments on hillary's website, and they are all talking about voting for McCain and how they can never vote for Obama.
I do NOT understand this logic at all. Why would you vote for someone FAR more different person than Clinton instead of someone who is quite similar in policy?
I really hope that Clinton works hard to end this "bitterness".
Hey no mention of Michigan SD Kwami Killpatrick.
OH must be cause hes faceing purgury charges.
The supreme irony in all of this...

The reason, the ONLY reason, Hillary Clinton even
got as far as she did was because her name was Hillary
Clinton, and she was married to Bill Clinton.

The reason, the ONLY reason, she lost was because her
name was Hillary Clinton, and she was married to Bill
Clinton.

Poetic Justice writ large...
To all Hillary Clinton supporters here. We love you. We need your support. But you must understand the singlemost important reason Obama supporters continue “bashing” her: we simply don’t like her and don’t trust her. For all of Hillary’s incredible qualities, she operates in a political time warp. Like her husband, Hillary still believes the rules of the game that made them so vibrant and viable in the 1990s have profoundly changed. Moreover, their DNA is lacking one essential feature that eases, and often reverses, the pain inflicted by being human: humility. When we heard the news last night that Clinton would “suspend” her campaign, we were immediately relieved. “Better late than never,” we thought. Still, as has always been the case with Clinton, we all are left wondering about her intentions. For Hillary, it’s always about her. She simply cannot step outside of her own forest to see the trees. Instead of bowing out to fight another day like any other politician, her fight continues on. Here’s the latest evidence:
Instead of ending her campaign as everyone else does, she has chosen to “suspend” her campaign. What signal does that send us? "OK, you win for now, and I'll half-heartedly keep supporting you as long as you play nice with me and my 18 million voters, and cave in to my continued demands, or else." Moreover, her top aides have publicly stated that Hillary reserves the option to place her name into nomination at the convention in Denver. So we have that hanging over us now.
Instead of quelling the current petitions by Lannie Davis and others to force Obama to put Hillary on his ticket, Hillary continues giving her implicit endorsement to keep them alive. Don’t you understand? This serves no purpose other than to fuel yet more resistance to even considering her as a VP candidate.
Hillary already has ignored TWO key opportunities to gracefully concede the nomination and enthusiastically endorse the winner, Obama. Moreover, yet two more days will lapse before she presumably does that. Why not NOW? Today? Why Saturday? Many presume this to be yet one more stunt of hers to gain her spotlight in front of a larger crowd and diminish press coverage over the weekend news cycle.
Most people here understand that the only way to capture ALL of those 18 million voters she dearly clings to is for Hillary to BRING THEM – unequivocally and with no strings attached -- to BARACK. We suspect she will never do that in any demonstrable or aggressive way. For this reason, Hillary Clinton will remain an arms-length friend of this campaign. Most Obama supporters, and frankly, most of the world who don’t see Hillary through the rose-colored glasses of her most ardent supporters, are worn out with all the drama. Each day, Hillary continues to make inexplicable decisions that fly against all conventional wisdom and ethical logic. In her own profound narcissistic way, she is so consumed with her own celebrity that she continues to miss key opportunities to simply do what’s right. This is clearly at her own peril. In her younger, more popular days, her legacy had more resilience to recover from such grave mistakes. That resilience is now wearing very thin. Until – and if – Hillary ever has a revelation that the time right now is no longer about her, she will continue chasing away people who WANT to like her. And we all will continue wondering whether every remark, every action of hers from now on are just more evidence that she’s running for president in 2012 while going through the motions to get a Democratic president elected in 2008.
I'm with Bobbi in Eau Claire.  But I think it's the angry Michelle that is going to be his biggest liability.
Bobbi, definitely is drinking hatorade today!  Give it rest, by you jumping on here day in and day out does not solve anything.

Negativity solves nothing, positive methods will clean the White House of corruption.

Evidently, you are more concerned with fighting fellow dems, if you are one ,than getting healthcare and education and freeing us from foreign oil in which Clinton will be vital in doing!

Get a clue lady!
dawn,euclid,ohio:'...I realized Senator Clinton was head and shoulders above Obama and the others, on every issue, on judgment, character and certainly experience...'

Just a reality check, Dawn....
Hillary voted FOR THE IRAQ WAR !!
How's THAT judgement ?

If she had voted no on the Iraq war and the Iran war (Kyl-Lieberman) shem MIGHT be the nominee, today
(Iand we might not be in the Iraq quagmire)

Clearly, Hillary showed poor judgement
I resent the fact that Dems have chosen a candidate who's best qualifications for the most important job in the world is his race. I also resent the fact that those of us who are unimpressed with this man have had his race used as a weapon against us. Until this primary I had NEVER been called a racist. "Uniter" my a**! Interesting how the rabid obamatrons are going to feel when they realize their "messiah" CAN'T win without 17+ million of us Hillary supporters.
Bobbi in Eau Claire

When a Hillary supporter calls Obama a snake oil salesman, I can only assume that it is a compliment.  It means that you see a lot of similiarities between Obama and Hillary.

Obama/Sebelius in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
To: The Truth

I have learned in my life when things don't seem possible and does not make sense it's because it is not suppose to.  I know some may say, that you are dreaming and it will never happen.  I can not speak for everyone but in my case, I have seen the impossible and I am hopeful enough to believe.  I am not asking anyone, especially you (The Truth) to believe like me but do not cancel it out.

God's speciality is doing the impossible.  It's not enough space on this message board for me to name all of the things God has done that seemed impossible.

What kind of judgment did Obama show sitting in that church for 20 years?  Or are we to believe that Obama never heard anything hateful stated there?
Curious how Bobbi, Eau Claire and The Truth get posted constantly with their Republican old school nonsense and I haven't seen one of my posts yet.  Not like they're making new insightful comments.  Just same old same old - like what we'd get with McBush.  I'm not fooled.  Tired of hearing how MSNBC and media is pushing Obama.  Enough of their comments.
Buyer's Remorse

What kind of judgment did Bill and Hillary show when they pardoned FALN terrorists in exchange for money?  I wonder how the loved ones of the people killed by those terrorists felt about the Clintons spitting on the graves of the victims.

By the way, Hillary's pastor is a convicted child molester.  Does that make Hillary a convicted child molester?

Obama/Sebelius in 2008.  Integrity matters and the Clintons have none.
North Dakota party chair David Strauss endorsed Obama yesterday. That makes it a 16-5 delegation from the Peace Garden State.

Are we not supposed to have a seperation of Church and state?  Isn't that one of the things that makes the USA different.
To all clinton supporters:
OBAMA is the nominee. That's final. Clinton is no longer an option.
You need to make a decision as to what direction  you want this country to go.
If you want to stay in Iraq, keep the healthcare system as it is, continue with Bush's economic policies, then go for McCain.
If you want to get out of Iraq and work towards universal healthcare, then go for Obama.

Considering Obama's goals are quite similar to Clinton's goals....

How can you compare his choice to sit in a particular Church (which most of ever heard about before this Primary) with HRC vote to go to war? Her decision is linked to 4000+ deaths and thousands more permanently disabled U.S. Soldiers. His choice of Church offended people. You need to get your priorities straight!
Everyone has their downfalls. No one is perfect.  I am saddened by the women who continue to trash Hillary becasue she has done mush to try and break the glass ceiling woman face in our country.
WE MUST STOP THIS NAME CALLING AND BELITTLING!!!!! OUR COUNTRY HAS TOO MANY PROBLEMS THAT ANOTHER REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION WILL ONLY CONTINUE.  OBAMA IS THE PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE AND HE WILL DO A CREDIBLE JOB UNDER STAGGERINGLY DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES THAT BUSH & CO. HAVE CREATED.  THE PRIMARY CONTEST IS OVER; WE MUST UNITE AND MOVE FORWARD.
Obama For President!! guy: I support your candidate also, but I would ask that you keep that stinking sales link off of the blogs. Let there be one place left on earth where we are not being manipulated into buying crap.
Obama for President!! --  This delay in endorsing Obama may largely represent SD's fear or concern or unwillingness to "go against" the Clintons, until they are absolutely sure she's out of the race.  Look at the way Rep Charles Rangel danced around the matter yesterday:  Clearly wants to move his support to Obama, but also clearly he wanted a clear signal from Clinton that she was over her tiff and ready to move her support to Obama.

"The Truth"-- Apart from your amazing appropriation of the moniker ("truth" is always--ALWAYS--more complex than you suggest!), ...   Start focusing on the electoral map, my friend.  Now the game is ENTIRELY framed in that arena.  Then we can talk sensibly and [somewhat] dispassionately about what is and is not possible.

Obama '08
It is time for the Clinton and Obama backers to stop picking at each other's candidate and look to the candidacy of John McCain, their actual opponent if they are to realize the policy desires of both Clinton and Obama.
I have voted Republican my entire life, but plan to vote for Obama in November.  He represents change and getting out of Iraq and the poor economy are just two of my reasons.  To all the Hillary supporters who are undetstandably upset that their candidate didn't win the primary, you must unite behind the presumptive nominee unless you truly want another four more years of Bush.  Remember, Obama got 18 million votes also so threatening to vote Republican because your candidate didn't win is very counterproductive and certainly not what Hillary would want if she is a true Democrat.
what kind of judgment did Obama show sitting in that church for 20 years?

---------------------------

it sure didn't start a war
Just to make it clear...Bobbie in Eau Claire does NOT represent the rest of the city who OVERWHELMINGLY voted for Obama ALONG with the State of Wisconsin.  Hey Bobbie..take a breath, chill out, and use your common sense.  The generation that has gotten out and voted THIS primary is a generation that has no real experience of race segregation.  There is nothing unusual for our generation to see an African American run for president of the United States.

And as for the so called 17 million needed to win...give me a break.  Five months from now a majority of YOU will hopefully have calmed down and realize how stupid your arguments are.  And Bobbie, if you don't, fine!  Good riddance...Obama doesn't need your vote!
Are you honestly arguing policy versus private history?
Not to mention that all the networks have in Wright's sermons that is controversial is extraordinarily brief and debatable based on history (ref: tuskegee).

Remember that Obama is an avid follower of constitutional law, and would be the first to argue that there must be a separation of church and state.

IMHO all personal mud-slinging is invalid, and we should stick to policies. This includes personal associations McCain might have.

If however, something is performed in a political manner, it should be vetted with reasonable scrutiny.
Thank you Chuck Todd for being so professional and always keeping us informed. You are defintately my favorite delegate counter!
It is really quite sad to see. Obama won fair and square, winning everything, including the popular vote (unless you discount 4 states of course, and assume none of 250 thousand people who voted uncommitted in michigan   voted for obama. But go ahead and do that if it makes you feel better).

And some of you people are SO BITTER!

grow up already, its called democracy. Obama won because more people want him to be the nominee then her. And apparently the founders of the democratic party thought caucaus states were quite democratic, and quite frankly I have more faith in them then you!
Senator Obama has shown reasoned, measured judgment in all that he has done.  Decisions are not made overnight and you must weigh, measure and balance all things.  Also, you must separate the wheat from the chaff making your own based on lots of factors decisions.  Some super delegates needed to watch the process unfolds and supported who they thought was best.  Senator Obama also does not make impulsive, dangerous decisions like starting a dumb war for political expediency or vowing to continue it for 100 years or more-People change, situations change and minds change...Obama is for well thought-out, needed change for the better benefitting ALL AMERICANS!
It would seem that all McCain will have to do to firm up votes from a sizeable percentage of several Hillary-supporting, usually-Dem-leaning blocs...working class families, seniors, women, Catholics and Jews, at least...is to announce that he'd do his best to nominate SC Justice-candidates who'd maintain a centrist ideological spread on the Supreme Court and the Federal Appeals bench; and to commit that, because of Hillary's deep knowledge of the subject, he'd include her in the inputs his administration would solicit on health care policy.

In the primary Obama's appeal was significantly concentrated among blocs totaling not much more than half of the Dem activists. Now he has to become equally attractive to those blocs that voted predominantly for Hillary, even though they said in the primaries that they weren't satisfied with his lack of gravitas in foreign policy and his almost total lack of military command experience. How will he convince them that those considerations don't matter?
Everyone keeps talking about Obama in his church.  Have you ever thought of this...He has been in the Senate in Illinois and Washington.  I would lay odds that he was very rarely in the Sunday sermons but was a member of the church community....That would certainly be believable.  We have quite a few church memebers that are very active in the community but rarely attend the Sunday sermons.
Buyer's Remorse Will Set In,

Your speaking of a decision that effects NO ONE except him, and comparing it to a poor decision that has negatively impact 350,000,000 americans.

Seems like a pretty pofound difference to me.....

We should all really re-check our priorities.
IT AMAZES ME THAT ANYONE THINKS THAT THE 18m VOTERS ARE BARGINING CHIPS.

MANY OF THESE WOMEN, STRONG SUPPORTERS HAVE PUBLICLY SAID THEY ARE NOT BARGINING CHIPS.

EVERY AMERICAN IS FREE TO CAST THEIR VOTE FOR THEIR CHOICE CANDIDATE, JUST AS THEY ARE ALSO CAPABLE OF DETERMINING WHO THEY WILL VOTE FOR IF THEIR CANDIDATE LOOSES.

IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL WOMEN FOR THE MEDIA OR ANYONE ELSE TO ACT AS IF WOMEN CANNOT THINK FOR THEMSELVES.

THE MEDIA HAS NOT HAD ANY MEANINGFUL NUMBER OF THESE WOMEN COME FORTH AND SAY, I HAVE GIVEN MY RIGHTS TO SOMEONE ELSE TO CAST MY VOTE IN THE FALL ELECTION.

THERE WILL BE SOME WOMEN, WHO ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE OUTCOME, BUT WOMEN FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT AFTER THE EMOTIONS FADES, THESE WOMEN WILL VOTE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THEIR FAMILY, NOT OUT OF ANY HURT FEELINGS

WOMEN HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF BEING EMOTIONAL BEINGS TO THE POINT THAT WE DON'T HAVE THE FORTITUDE TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS.  THEY DO

SO THE MEDIA SHOULD BOW OUT GRACEFULLY AND STOP THE EXPLOTATION OF WOMEN AND THOSE OTHERS INVOLVED IN DOING SO,

BECAUSE IN THE END WOMEN WILL MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION WITH NO HELP FROM A SECOND OR A THIRD PARTY.

WOMEN ARE INDEPENDENT BEINGS AND THEY CERTAINLY DON'T NEED ANYONE SUGGESTING THAT THEY ARE SIMPLY

"BARGINING CHIPS"
To the Truth:

One of the things you said regarding the improbability of Senator Obama's victory was that "the caucus states don't reflect the electorate." That was the thinking that Senator Clinton's campaign used when they decided not to take the caucus states seriously. To a very large degree, the caucus states were Obama's victory margin.

Why do you believe that the electoral map cannot change? The one thing we know about the world is that it is always in a state of flux. This year, because of the war and the economy and the candidates you may see some changes that will surprise you.

50 years ago it would have been impossible for an Africa American or a woman to run for President, but here we are with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

As Bob Dylan once sang, "The times they are a-changin"
Just a note:
The nomination process is over.

Let's talk about the Issues between McCain and Obama.

Economy
Iraq
Healthcare
Ethics reform
Tax reform
Supreme court nominations
<What kind of judgment did Obama show sitting in that church for 20 years?  Or are we to believe that Obama never heard anything hateful stated there? >

Who has not sat in a pew and heard weird, truly bizarre, even false words come out of a pastor's mouth?  I once sat in a church for an entire year where a so-called "minister" preached entirely outside of the scripture.  He preached his own opinions, not anything found in scripture.  Don't blame O for a rambling, idiotic pastor that liked to incite his congregation with words that could not be uttered in most other public forums.  No one agrees totally with what they hear in church on any given Sunday.  Should he have left long ago?  Maybe, but it's not so easy to leave a church family, and pastors come and go.
I think the Obama campaign was smart. When Obama wanted Bill to release his money that he has received for his presidential library, this race was over. In less than two hours she conceded. One hunded fifty million dollars was given to Bill last year from Guistra for Bill's support of Guistras uranium deal. The FBI said that this endorsement by Clinton was a threat to Israel and to our national security. Also the article by DE De Myers husband where Bill called him a scumbag was pretty important. It stated in a 1,000 words that with the money that Bill got for his "library", he is using it to jet set around the country and is having affairs with many movie stars and others. Read these artices. Bill will be going to court for the Peter Paul incident where he received too much money for HRC's senate race. I do not think we need HRC on a ticket where change is about to happen The same old politics in the same old way is over. HRC is through. I doubt she could make Senator any more since she has made Rangel mad. Remember she is a senator in Harlem and you don't want to make those people angry.
