Obama VP vetting team to hit the Hill

From NBC's Andrea Mitchell
Congressional sources tell NBC News that Obama's vice presidential vetting team of Jim Johnson, Caroline Kennedy, and Eric Holder will be on Capitol Hill Monday and Tuesday interviewing senators and members of Congress about their recommendations. Those being visited are NOT potential choices.

The point, according to Senate offices, is to collect information about a potential field.

How come there's no democratic bracket to play?
Anne ofPa,

This is in reference to your earlier post, taking IH to task, in the 'secret meeting' article.

IH is a repub. He was mocking both Senators Clinton, and Obama.

We have devils among us.

Peace.
It does not matter who the VP is. All they will do for eight years is attend state funerals, out of the country. We have canonized Obama, and thats that! Let's go, whatever the change is, I am ready. We should expect very positive responses from the arab states in the areas of oil and defence.
Obama/Biden That's all that needs to be said!!!!

Chuck Hegal is the one. I say this, as an avid 57 year old while man lifetime Progressive Dem O'man supporter. It would signal real change and add real strength to the ticket.
I would like to see one of the FEMALE Generals in the US military get the VP job.  OBAMA 08
I have been a life long democrat but can't tolerate whatObama seems to disregard..people that wanted to go to college and couldn't...(we weren't black).. older Americans of every race and certain religous faiths..and Michelle..well, we have always been proud to be Americans..  So, we will vote McCain..
I think Jim Webb is key.  He will help to turn each and eveyone of the battleground states, in the Dems' favor.  He might steal a few red lights, as well, i.e. ND, Montana, even Texas (that would be a prize).

If Bill and Hill work their hearts out (and they have to, in order to repair the damage with the AA community) they can deliver Arkansas and the Jewish vote in South Florida; Webb will be a big plus in the panhandle.  Webb can deliver Virginia but will also help with retired vets in the Carolinas. In addition, I think that he will be icing on the cake to carry, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and NH.  Bill Richardson will help us with Latinos in the west and in Texas.

Senator Webb will have to apologize (again) for his  non-progressive stand against women in the military - he's already admitted to having  been an insensitive young man' and has changed his views.  He is staunchly pro-choice.  And, as Marie Coco has said, both Obama and he, will have to ask women to vote for them (a la Bob Dole) and women should be able to see the vast difference in social attitudes between Obama/Webb and McCain; I don't think they want a regressive Supreme Court.  Hillary should be a big help with the votes of mature white women.  BTW increased AA voter registration in Georgia, coupled with the candidacy of Bob Barr may even put that red hot state in play.

Honestly, I hate all of this identity politics...but for now that's the reality of our still racist and sexist society.  I guess that the fact that we're able to speak so openly about racism and sexism is a step in the right direction, a step towards a race and gender-blind meritocracy.

Yes, my friends, I am cautiously optimistic.  This could be an electoral college landslide.  This could be a transformative election and presidency...a true
'era of good feeling'.
Obama/Webb '08
Political Psychologist and any others who doubt Caroline Kennedy's appropriateness for this vetting committee role:

Numerous solid degrees including a law degree. Direct experience vetting competing persons for prestigious awards, and a quiet but powerful role within the Democratic party.

No flash, no hyperdrama, just solid judgement and experience---and wonderful DNA!
It will be very surprising to see who he chooses. I respect his judgment.
Do you all remember when Hillary was in the #2 spot trying to offer the #1 Obama the VP job....Now look at her begging for a job....HELL TO THE NAW...Take your butt back to the senate...we don't want your kind of politics....its time to turn the page and your not on that page...
I'd like to know--who are all of the democrats that have been polled to show the overwhelming support of Hillary as a vp pick.

I am surrounded by Obama supporters who DON'T want her on the ticket.

I'm a bit confused...
A very, very savvy way to go about it - wonder if it came from Obama or C Kennedy?  The other two have been involved in this before and haven't gone about it this way.  I think Caroline Kennedy is an excellent choice -- from all I've heard, she is *very* sharp, unintimidated by bluster and show, and has more the point of view of a statesperson, not so much a politician caught up in the day to day.  Oh, and no -- one doesn't plan to make any Kennedy but especially Caroline the 'fall guy' for anything!  The last person in the world you could safely shame or blame. -- Appointing her was also a strong, deft signal that Hillary wasn't going to just walk into the job.   (I'm hoping that the more they look into it, the more obvious it will be that Joe Biden is the best choice.)
How about Caroline Kennedy---the dynasty lives on!
To Bill NH
I'm for Sam Numm also. No Clintons!!!!!!
