Obama reacts to Clinton's speech

Posted: Saturday, June 07, 2008 2:50 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
Obama issued this statement on Clinton's speech today:

"Obviously, I am thrilled and honored to have Sen. Clinton's support. But more than that, I honor her today for the valiant and historic campaign she has run. She shattered barriers on behalf of my daughters and women everywhere, who now know that there are no limits to their dreams. And she inspired millions with her strength, courage and unyielding commitment to the cause of working Americans. Our party and our country are stronger because of the work she has done throughout her life, and I'm a better candidate for having had the privilege of competing with her in this campaign. No one knows better than Sen. Clinton how desperately America and the American people need change, and I know she will continue to be in the forefront of that battle this fall and for years to come."

As a Clinton supporter it was obvious that Clinton HAD TO SAY what she said - she didn't want to. It just FEELS wrong to hear her give todays speech. Hillary's national political future is done. The "majority" of her "supporters" threw her under the bus. I will never forget their "two-face-ed-ness". How will she ever be able to run again? What? Are those people gonna switch face again??

And- - Obama was golfing. Oh Yeah - the repubs aren't gonna say Obama is an Elitist. Right - he made a "speech" about that so we shouldn't talk about that cause it's over - and the Obamabots get mad when people talk.

What has happened to the democratic party? What message are we looking to send to our Fellow Americans.

This campaign has actually proved that Repubs and Demos are more alike than anyone wants to admit.

Some message of Change
To Senator Clinton's diehard supporters, remember, if you're planning on voting for Uncle Fluffy, you're voting for this guy...

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?  Because her father is Janet Reno.”
    - Senator John McCain speaking at a Republican dinner in June 1998
As a senior WHITE women let's all remember what's at stake here and UNITE. The next President will in all likely hood nominate one if not two Supreme Court Justices. Let's not take away from our daughters, granddaughters and also sons and grandsons the hard fought rights we have won!! UNITE AND TAKE BACK THE WHITE HOUSE in 08!!
In other words, "GET LOST HILLARY!"
I agree Obama's a better candidate for having had the privilege of competing with Hillary in this campaign. He surpassed her negativity. However, I don’t think because of her; it was the campaign she ran esp. the debt. She is not the only woman that has shattered barriers on behalf of our daughters and women everywhere. In the 20th and 21st centuries women are governors, mayors, Congresswomen, columnists, reporters, and commentators, who would not be where they are without the efforts of women like Shirley Chisholm and Geraldine Ferraro and other. Without name recognition, I doubt she would have gone as far as she did because she felt entitled. On the other hand, if she had been an unknown (same as Obama), the fact is ran a horrific campaign.

Thank you, Senator Clinton for r coming back to your true self today. Never once I have I doubted your progressiveness. I knew your campaign distorted many issues; nevertheless, I waited for the real Hillary to emerge. Now the real fighter in you can be ever so great.

We will have change and we will have it now because of you. Dr. King dreamed; Obama and you have actualized the dream for a better America. We can know will see an America where we all will be judged by our character; rather than the color of our skin, class, gender or non gender. I am confident will see those people you spoke of the nurses, waitresses, factory workers etc, will appreciate your as well as I do.

The face of America is coming back.

great Dems. The Repulicans are shivering. They wanted dems to fight to the convention. Well, its time to turn to McCain, who is scared. It will be a knock out for him!!!

Vote Obama
Such a genuine and classy guy.  And always polite.   Obama represents what a President should be...
He will bring the Democrats together and the rest of the country too!
We look forward to his next two terms in office.
I hope Obama realizes how this speech has tied his hands. How does he deny Hillary the VP now? I can bet my head...No Hillary as VP McKenya is done. The speech was to paint him as the young angry politician with a would be worst first lady...Why are these 2 so angry at America? Think about it, America has always embraced people on merit, Ruther was 40 years ago....African Americans were investing in Hip Hop, Sports while whites were reading.....then why wine? I'm Black and I don't sympathize with these welfare exploiters.....and sad of all this is still going to date.

America will continue to embrace merit, Obama has it, problem is it's hidden in a lot of hate for America, only an extremist would ignore Wright's rhetoric for 20 years only to make a convenient political turn....Too late, you can fool Democrats but not republicans.....This is gonna be funnier than the the flip flop smear that brought Kerry down.

Let me say this....Obama is smart, a good orator but like I said before, Americans owe women first before Africans. Hillary will be back after McCain's first term and I'm sure this time she will have Barack for dinner everyday if he runs again.  It might take Obama 12 years to clean himself of the mud the republicans are going to roll him in.

One thing about tHe Speech, I can't wait to see xris and his msnbc machine try to still make Hillary the issue. The only news they know how to report has been bashing Hillary, now what? Can you spin this speech?

I remember very well what Michelle Obama said from the start, about black America waking up.....and I know I was not sleeping.....she is Obama's worst enemy to those who understand what they read.

Obama outclasses them all as usuall. Never has a candidate struck such fear into the status quo.

But by the time this message gets approved or whatever happens to it, the general election will be over.
Well said and another good step towards uniting Democrats and moving the party and our nation forward.  We all would do well to follow Senator Obama's and Senator Clinton's lead if we are to avoid a third Bush term under McCain.  Wise up you naysayers, or else you'll be living in regret for another four years come January 2009 while our country falls deeper in to stagnation.

Great - now lets move on and not make the mistake of letting McCain win in the fall.

Obama 08/12
Blah, blah, blah.  This guy could eat a sandwich and the press would fall over themselves praising how wonderfully he ate it.  Is the media EVER going to take an honest look at this guy, or won't that happen until after his disastrous presidency?
Let's take it to the White House
What happen to Gore's endorsement???
I was so tired of hearing about Hillary Clinton after Obama got the nomination.  She really got me mad, because this was the time for Obama to shine.  He made history this week.  He took the yoke of slavery from around the necks of Black Americans.  He started to remove the ugly stain on America for all Americans.  It was a time for all of us to stand up and be proud of this nation.  Not only did he do that but he also shown all of us that politics do not have to be so down and dirty and nice guys can finish first.  He set an example for all of us to follow and look up to.  He has shown America what politics should and can be and he got the American people involved.  Instead of going for the big money once out of college he gave himself and his family to us.  The whole world was watching this election, watching Obama and he made the US look so good, especially after 8 years with the Bush Administration.  He gave hope to so many young Black Americans men that feel lost and hopeless not knowing that there is a place for them in America.  Today they walk a little taller, they feel pride they never knew before in themselves and in this country and the light did not shine on that but rather on questions and speculation about Hillary Clinton and what she was going to do.  Will she be asked to be VP or does she want it?  Where does she go from here.  I thought it was so unfair to Obama, to all his supporters and to Black Americans still be asked to sit on the back of the bus again.  To wait your turn.  The news media always speak of Hillary streght and determination, her guts.  What about Obama's who found the strength and determination not to run a dirty campaign, to boldly walk infront of thousands and thousands of people knowing of all the death threats he has gotten just because he is black.  The light was taken off the winner and you all focused your attentions on Hillary who lost.  Wheter it was by alot or a little she still lost.  She did not almost win, she lost.  You speak of the reasons why she lost why not speak of the reasons why Obama won and how he ran his campaign that never once ran out of money.  If Hillary has had so many voting for her where was their support in donations.  I am glad she finally gave Obama his just dues but it was late in coming all because she needed the spot light to be on her.  She knew what she was doing, she had plenty of time to prepare for the lost she just did not want the spotlight to be on Obama and she got what she wanted.  She played her dirty little games to the end and that why she is not the nominee.
I made the right choice. Hillary would have been a good President, but Barack is extraordinary.
See, this is where the Democrats get confused. History is made for the people, not for morons like Hillary and Barack.
Now, we are united under one great cause and now it is time to turn the page on yesterday politics and create a better future for the future voters of our country!
Senator Clinton was so gracious today.  Above all else, she demonstrated that she is quite the woman-warrior and would have made a fabulous president.
Please let  Obama  have  the  sense  not  to  pick Clinton  as  running  Mate--  Pick  John  Edwards--  Sure  victory for  Democrats then---  Some  Voters  may  switch  to  Republican  vote  if  Hilliary  gets  the  nod  from  Obama---Could  be  off  base  here  but really  don't  think  so!!
She did a good job - must have been difficult as heck!
A job well done Senator Obama. Now, it's the  turn of the American voters to elect a Democrat in November, the next President of the USA. The Democrats should get united behind Mr. Obama to institute the changes this great country needs.
Check out the Real John McCain. Video of just some of his contradictions.
