Dems stress unity

Hear them roar.

At the DNC this afternoon, party leaders held a press conference to stress a message of post-primary party unity.

Flanked by Sen. Maj. Leader Harry Reid and DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “Women and blue-collar workers, whatever their race, have the most to gain by the election of Barack Obama as president of the United States and the most to lose by the election of John McCain.”

Two Clinton primary supporters seized the opportunity to exhibit a consensus for Sen. Obama.

“We all worked hard,” Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan said. “It takes a little while. You have to take a deep breath. But the reality is, there is no doubt in my mind that there is such a clear difference and so much at stake for our country, that people are going to rally around Sen. Barack Obama.

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington state jumped in as well, comparing the Clinton-Obama rivalry with that of her alma mater, Washington State University and the University of Washington.

“I’ll tell you, when we fought each other, we fought really hard,” she said. “But when one of our teams went to the Rose Bowl, we are all there. We are all on the same team here. And people across this country, men and women alike, understand what is at stake in November.

The RNC responded this way: “Congressional Democrats are clearly eager to raise taxes, and that’s exactly what Barack Obama would do if elected. Democratic leaders are out-of-step with millions of rank-and-file Democrats who worry that Obama does not have the judgment or experience needed to be Commander in Chief. Obama is inheriting a Democratic party that’s divided, disenfranchised millions of voters, and been badly out-raised by the RNC.”

Dems can stress it all they want. They don't have today, and they won't have it this fall.
Forget unity. Senator McCain is clearly the best choice for Hillary supporters.

Vote against vague promises of change.
Vote against old liberal ideas.
Vote against higher taxes.
Vote against Jimmy Carter's second term.

Vote for security.
Vote for fiscal restraint.
Vote for experience.
Vote for bipartisanship.

Vote for John McCain.
Fancy Pants Nance talking about blue-collar workers? ROFL! She once got within a 100 yards of a blue collar worker before she asked her body guards to "Shoo those people away - right now!" The Queen of the liberals doesn't mingle with blue collars!
After the first debate or town hall, it will be ever apparent to any Hillary supporter, as well as Independents and disillusioned Republicans, that the only choice will be Obama.

It's weird...I used to like McCain years ago when he truly was a maverick...now, he's a Bush conformist flip flopper!
The GOP is bereft of any ideas.  All I ever hear of them is threats of the scary tax Dems.  The GOP is pathetic.  McBush is a real tool.
Obama voted for Bush's energy bill that gave HUGE tax breaks to the oil companies!
Yet another reason we won't vote for Oblahma!
He's a con and a hypocrite!

This Dem family is voting for McCain.
At least we know he won't be race-baiting and making false accusations of racism.

NObama!
The RNC needs to step back and let this train wreck happen. The rails have nicely greased - no need to do anything else but get some lemonade, find a shady spot, and watch this train wreck.
The DNC's been out-raised by the RNC because Obama and Clinton BECAME the DNC. Dr. Dean and his committee are virtually irrelevant now thanks to the massive amounts of money Obama alone has been able to raise.

By the way... the lead for Obama is somewhere around four to six points, and it's growing. How in God's name is McCain going to keep this crap up when it's so very obviously not working?
I agree that it is ridiculous for Blue Collar workers to vote Republican and it is Hillarious that her feminist supporters even think about McCain. After all, I don't think that he is a female and he is not even Pro Choice.

Little Stepford Wife action from Murray and Stabenow. Anyone take note of any hostage notes for their families being issued earlier today?
Nancy went right to the heart of the matter. Women, and blue collar workers have to most to lose, if they cast a vote for hates sake.
HAHAHAHA!  Dem leaders think Hillary supporters are supposed to forget about Obama's race-baiting and accusing the Clintons of racism - and calling Democrats "racists" for not supporting him.

This boomer family already has "Democrats for McCain" bumperstickers on our cars.
WooHoo!

Hillary for VP!
RNC, blah, ba-blah, ba-blah, blah, blah, blah.  In the words of the late, great, James Brown, Talking loud but ain't saying nothing.

RNCs opposition statements/comments are old.  Nothing new, nothing fresh, same old, same old.  Just like their candidate.

Really, is this all you've got??
Did Pelosi, et.al., talk about the voters in Michigan and Florida who are only worth half a vote according to the Democrats? How much of a fraction of a vote does Pelosi feel women and blue collar voters should be worth?
The RNC has badly misinterpreted the exit polling showing a false discord in the Democratic Party. Old Grandpa McCain actually thought he could inspire former Hillary supporters to come over to his side? For what? McCain has a horrendous record on women's rights.  He will pack the Supreme Court with Alito and Roberts-type.  He is a visionless, uninspiring pseudo-leader with frequent memory lapses.
The RNC is delusional.
they should be worried.

30 of us here in san diego left the democratic party and re-registered as either republicans or independents because we believe Hillary Clinton is the REAL winner of this election.

If they had seated MI/FL in full according to the way they voted, Hillary would have received 1,725 pledged delegates and obama only 1,706 - she is the rightful pledged delegate winner of this race PLSU the popular vote winner.

HILLARY SHOULD BE THE NOMINEE.

We left in a show of unison for our canidate and to tell OBAMA AND THE DNC - "NO YOU CAN'T".
McFlip's  brain Flopped.

Do we want a president who isn't able to think? Do we want a president or a bunch of handlers running the country?
You can tell all Hilreys women voters are coming to the navy man John McCain for the president.  Barr and Paul might as well unite with the neocon liberal Obama who won't get our brave military out of Iraq til 2013 unlike McCain who will win that war and stay if we have to to stop Irans nucs from ever being.  Make no mistake that McCain's a real hero and Huckabees a real Christian for morality and conseritisvism and the republican party.
Sen. Patty Murry: "“I’ll tell you, when we fought each other, we fought really hard,” she said. “But when one of our teams went to the Rose Bowl, we are all there. We are all on the same team here. And people across this country, men and women alike, understand what is at stake in November."

Did anyone get a toxicology report on Murray? This statement makes absolutely no sense.
Dear RNC -

The only way we could have disenfranchised voters would have been to nominate Mrs. Clinton. Hopefully they will continue these lies so we dems will continue to rally behind Mr. Obama.
The RNC with an old worn out strategy, that they pulled out of the junk drawer, the page yellowed with frayed edges, full of old coffee stains. (Like rings in the trunk of a tree, you can figure out how old that paper is just by counting the brown spots).

Since they have so much money, surely they can afford to a new copy.

Pelosi says: "Women and blue-collar workers, what ever their race".

What, Rev. Wright and Father Pleger now working on Pelosi's staff? What does race have to do with whether a "woman" or a "blue-collar worker" should vote for Obama?
Oh.Yes, we are going to rally behind Senator Obama!

Democrats unite, for the sake of our country and everything that is democratic and decent.  It is time to march forward together as one huge party!

Obama 08

Dems are stressed on unity no doubt. That's what generally happens when you don't have any.
Boy, that's tellin' 'em, huh RNC?  Quite a disjointed response - as out of touch as your candidate.

While I agree that the Dems SHOULD have unity, I think it's too soon for that.  Y'know, women need their grieving time and all...sheesh.

I know, I know...we said that we would try to stop Hillary-bashing, but I couldn't resist...still irks me.  If whine about sexism and then whine because people didn't give you enough time to concede because you "were too emotional"...well, then I don't know what to say, except that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

good night all.
And all the kings horses, and all the kings men, couldn't put the Dems back together again!
Sorry Ms. Pelosi...but were it not for you being such an advent Obama supporter I might listen to you. Same goes for you Chairman Dean...a title you should be stripped of for your bias against Senator Clinton during this primary. So I don’t think either of you have any right to stand before us and tell us to all come on board the Obama band wagon. He hasn’t the experience to lead this country and I am not ready to throw my support behind him. I don’t know if I will come around or not but as of today...no way. I am still trying to figure out why in the hell, given the current state of affairs in this country; the people go with the guy with the least amount of experience. It is almost as puzzling as GWB wining a second term. And for those naive enough to think that one person is going to “Change” Washington and the way it does business...I only hope that when he doesn’t deliver on that campaign promise you will come to your senses next time and go with the man or woman who actually has a complete resume...not one in the making.
There is no more unity in the democratic party. All of the people that I trusted threw Hillary under the bus.  How am I supposed to trust any of them anymore?
AND.... I DON'T LIKE OBAMA! He surrounds himself and his family with HATE for 20 and is supposed to get off the hook?? I don't want that representing my counrty.
The RNC makes me laugh. I smell fear.
I can imagine Reid, Pelosi, and Dean sweating like the pigs they are telling the lies they have to tell. At some point they have to ask themselves who the heck even believes them anymore.
The American people are getting tired of these dog-and-pony shows the Dems keep putting on. First it was the disenfranchisement of two entire states splashed on national tv, then that stupid speech Hillary was told to read the other day, and now these three whack jobs (Pelosi, Reid, Dean) telling lies.
Clinton needs to prove she can control her voters and have them stop with the attacks on bashing Obama.

Her supporters have been so hateful to the man that has tried over and over agian to bring the party together.
>>The RNC responded this way: “Congressional Democrats are clearly eager to raise taxes, and that’s exactly what Barack Obama would do if elected>>

Do the republicans have this on a macro or something? Sheez their comebacks are so predictable and pathetic. I almost feel sorry for them!
The republican seem only to say one thing now a day, "Democrats will raise your taxes" yet they don't offer any solutions themselves
And I'm pretty sure that Mr. Obama will out raise the RNC and McCain combined in the comming months. No one's raising "blue-collar workers" taxes unless they are making over $250,000 a year, which obvously would mean that they are not "blue-collar".  They are actually lowering them.  The RNC tries to play this "raise your taxes" game evey year to scare hard workers so they can vote republican and then watch the rish get richer.
"Flanked by Sen. Maj. Leader Harry Reid and DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker Nancy Pelosi"

This was enough for me to know that what ever came next was BS. The moron triumvirate will never understand that many of us took it to heart when Donna Brazille said the Party doesn't need us. They also don't understand that we will not just fall into lock-step behind the selected nominee. Accusing us of racism for months only adds to our determination. Trying to use Rovian fear tactics with Roe v. Wade will not work. The Party has made it clear that it neither wants or needs us. So moderates such as myself will have to vote for the moderate in this race...he just happens to be a Republican.
I don't see how the RNC can keep relying on "he'll raise taxes!" scare tactic.  How often does the average person really think about their taxes?   Personal choices, far more than anything politicians will do, affect our personal taxes.  Even if Obama wanted to raise taxes on individuals (which he vehemently does not) it could only  be a percent or two before he would lose support. He wants to remove the tax breaks for the rich that Bush implemented.  Removing temporary tax cuts should be something that you have planned for.  If the tax cuts applied to you and you weren't smart enough to see they weren't permanent then you are obviously not well aquatinted with  your money and won't miss it when its gone.
Honestly, if "they want to raise taxes" is the best the Republicans can do, this may be easier than the Dems thought.

Any student of history knows that Bill Clinton won the white house in '92 on a platform that said, basically, you have to give some to get some.  The way to a healthy economy is to use Pay-go.  In our homes, we are expected to pay the bills for what we buy.  If we don't, guess what?  They foreclose on our house!  Guess what, Republicans, China owns your house, and you're spending your mortgage payment on Iraq.

Oh, not this peep...PUMA all the way. I plan to write in Hillary.
With Clinton's supporters.. Obama is definitely going to win this election!

Obviously, the Republicans have nothing else respond to, other than the fear taxes will be raised.

This is so tired of Republicans!
Some times the RNC should just keep their mouths shut.  That nasty response was uncalled for.

It's time to come together as Democrats for our country.  Bush/Cheney have created a fascist state with corporations running our government.

It's time to join together to work towards electing a Democratic President with a workable Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate.

This time do something smart and vote for your wallet, vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs, vote for America!

Vote for the smartest candidate in the race, a real leader (and no that's not McCain -- not by a long shot)

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.
Good gods is that all the RNC can say?  They are starting to sound like a parrot.  Brraaack higher taxes Brraaack.

And seriously..who REALLY has the experience to be a Commander and Chief unless you have been the Commander and Chief.  That is one of the most retarded arguments so far. Even Bush had advisors...not very good advisors, but still...
The more McBush speaks, the easier it will be to unify the party.  That guy is dangerous!!!

If all the rabid Obama supporters stay the course...

and all the intelligent people who realize what 4 more years of Republican incompetence will do to America and the world, stay the course...

McCain will be what he already is: just a half-eaten carton of out of date cottage cheese in the dumpster of history.

As Janis Joplin said famously,

"That's it."
