Dems stress unity

Hear them roar.

At the DNC this afternoon, party leaders held a press conference to stress a message of post-primary party unity.

Flanked by Sen. Maj. Leader Harry Reid and DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “Women and blue-collar workers, whatever their race, have the most to gain by the election of Barack Obama as president of the United States and the most to lose by the election of John McCain.”

Two Clinton primary supporters seized the opportunity to exhibit a consensus for Sen. Obama.

“We all worked hard,” Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan said. “It takes a little while. You have to take a deep breath. But the reality is, there is no doubt in my mind that there is such a clear difference and so much at stake for our country, that people are going to rally around Sen. Barack Obama.

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington state jumped in as well, comparing the Clinton-Obama rivalry with that of her alma mater, Washington State University and the University of Washington.

“I’ll tell you, when we fought each other, we fought really hard,” she said. “But when one of our teams went to the Rose Bowl, we are all there. We are all on the same team here. And people across this country, men and women alike, understand what is at stake in November.

The RNC responded this way: “Congressional Democrats are clearly eager to raise taxes, and that’s exactly what Barack Obama would do if elected. Democratic leaders are out-of-step with millions of rank-and-file Democrats who worry that Obama does not have the judgment or experience needed to be Commander in Chief. Obama is inheriting a Democratic party that’s divided, disenfranchised millions of voters, and been badly out-raised by the RNC.”

Backing Senator Obama means Senators like Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell need to switch their superdelegate votes to Mr Obama. Until they do, there's still a perceived rift.
The polls seem to indicate the Democrats are unifying. Both the Gallup and Rasmussen tracking polls show Obama ahead of McCain by 7 points:

The party of Randy Craig, Mark Foley and Eric Rudolph.
Sure, we torture POWs. Sure we trample the Constitution. Sure we betray our country's CIA agents. And sure we lied and caused the deaths of thousands of American soldiers, but thanks to us the top 1% will keep their tax breaks.

If all the rabid Obama supporters stay the course...

and all the intelligent people who realize what 4 more years of Republican incompetence will do to America and the world, stay the course...

McCain will be what he already is: just a half-eaten carton of out of date cottage cheese in the dumpster of history.

As Janis Joplin said famously,

"That's it."

O yeah, you folks may think so, however we have news for you.

These so called “superdelegates” of the party failed their constituents miserably. They chose “change” with no experience over “change” with experience.  By doing so, they disenfranchised Clinton supporters and abandoned the strongest candidate to head the ticket.  We have carried your water for many years; however we are not allowed to drink from the same well??? No MORE. These party elitist should have pledged their allegiants based on fact---not fiction. Hillary with her tremendous strength, knowledge and courage was tossed aside for an ill-qualified community organizer with two years of Senate experience. I firmly believe Obama to be the weakest candidate to head the ticket. Those same party leaders did not have the courage to realize this and they will pay a price for their stupidity.
I have been a loyal supporter of the party my entire adult life---No More. You have shown me time and time again that you are gutless and have no clear clue how to win elections. You lack the vision and the wisdom to do anything other than pat your own pockets and run from the truth---for shame. Your actions have forced many of us centralist democrats to seek alliance with the moderate conservative wing of the Republican Party.
I do not speak for all Hillary supporters, though I do hope I speak for many of them when I say to the party…. you have failed us---you have failed Hillary, and you will once again fail to win the White House, and because of your failure---the party WILL pay a high price. I watched and listen to Hillary ask her supporters to now throw their support to Obama, for the sake of the party. Hillary is a loyalist to the party---why, I’m not sure.
I respect Hillary tremendously, however the party and the process did her wrong and this cannot stand. YES THIS WILL BE A PROTEST VOTE, a vote against the DNC-you need to clean your act up and remember your core constituents, because “Yes We Can” make a difference. I am not afraid of McCain, he does not represent 4 more years of Bush---no one could possibly be that stupid. I believe him to be a man of honor who will do his best for this country and its people that he cares deeply for, and for that reason I will place my hope with him.
And to those Obama supporters,  I am not “bitter” “old” “ugly” “uneducated” “living in a trailer” “sleeping with my uncle” or “picking my teeth with wood” . I am however, disenfranchised and VERY angry.
And one last thing, please don’t lecture me about McCain’s record---I know exactly where he stands on all the issues, and I will still cast my vote for him.

Yeah out of step.. but he is running a $300 million dollar campaign like a well oiled machine... McCain?  Can barely scrape together two nickles and vows to veto beer.

Clearly one can run a country, clearly the other can run a lemonade stand.  We've had the latter...for the last 8 years.. I want to see what a true business, level headed, well educated, articulate, compassionate, intelligent man can do.  McCain...Go Home!!!!
The more that comes out about Obama the more I'm convinced he is the wrong canidate. He is about pretty speeches, his "plans" have no real backbone, nor do they represent the "change" he was spewing forth in his pretty speeches. I feel that Dean, Reid and Pelosi need to take a long look in the mirror and realize they have sealed the Democrat tickets doom. I am no longer a supporter of the DNC, they have let me down too many times, this one being the worst.

Clinton was screwed out of the nomination and now they want everyone to rally together for Obama. The DNC are truly dreamers if they believe that will happen.
Well well,  I guess the DNC has gotten the message that we are NOT going to vote for Obama.

Howard Dean,  Nancy Polosi, and the rest of you delegate thiefs...

Stick it where the sun doesn;t shine.

Dems for McCain 08

Up to 30% of Hillary voters will turn to McCain in November, hopefully after another loss will finally convince the DNC that ultra liberal candidates can't win the White House, and hopefully democratic voters start voting with their heads.
The Republicans will spend - spend like there is no tomorrow. The Republicans and McCain have demonstrated they know how to get us $10 Trillion in debt.  Mortgage our children's, grand children's, and great grand children's future.

We were promised $20 a barrel oil and that the Iraq war with reconstruction would pay for itself.  Remember Iraqi oil was to pay for the costs. Instead we have $138 barrel oil and a $3 Billion per week taxpayer cost.

Thank you very much George and Dick to be continued by John.
I can't wait to see those ads the GOP will come up with using Hillary's "I have a life time of experience, McCain has a life time of experience and Obama has a speech he made in 2002".  That'll will be a doozie!
ooookay?

Is it me or does the RNC seem like one of those kids on the playground (very insecure one) that states "My Dad could kick your Dad's butt!"

Yet everyone on the playground knows his dad is a weazel! LOL
It really is time for all the Hillary followers to quit being bitter and stand up for the party. It really is pathetic to hear people say "Well she didn't win the nomination so instead I'm gonna vote for the guy who doesn't care about universal health care or the middle class and who is for keeping the Iraq war going for 100 years if necessary". Grow up. As an Obama supporter; if Hillary would have won the nom. I would have been wishing he'd won but never in a million years would you have heard me say I was going to vote for McCain instead. It was a long and bitter primary but its over, now is the time to come together and carry Obama and the Democratic party to a well deserved victory in November.
Thank you RNC for reminding me, I will go send the DNC some money.  Shame on you for using Hillary's words and actions against Obama.  How hypocritical as the RNC punishment for states who break the rules is to half the delegates.  How many voters have you disenfranchised???  Yes, our party is somewhat divided right now, but it is coming together.  Hillary and Obama were locked in a historic primary battle, and did not have the free time that Elmer McFudd did.  You watch RNC, we will be united and McCain is going to go down in November.
Old man McSame - Drinking Ensure.., wearing Depends adult diapers.., cleaning his dentures.., yelling at clouds.  You know the saying.., "there is no fool, like an old fool" - that'd be McSame.  LOL..!!

Obama wins in a landslide..!!!   Easily...
Do you think Obama can hold his nose for 8 years and 5 months?
okay...i'm sort of read for the DNC to turn the page on all the Kumbaya "we're SO united!" the more they get out there and preach it, the more hallow it sounds. people who are GENUINELY voting democrat because they believe in the candidate's platform WILL vote democrat. just stop with the staircase speeches and get back to work! it looks staged. like when parents divorce and tell the kids "ah, honey, we're always going to be a family."
This a very serious two items of information:

The present cost for 1 gallon of gas in Saudi land is $.45 per gallon!

Present cost of 1 gallon of gas in Mexico $2.00 a gallon!

These facts are from people living in those countries.

Talk about unity, The stock market is rigged, the White is a total HOAX, Congress is useless and tied to the corruption of the stock market!!  As this election started the price had doubled for fuel.

We are being screwed beyond common sense by Washington and the greed of the futures market. $.12 cents per gallon!!!!

If this is not Posted, You Have proved this is a biased site.
If Hill is vp , does Bill get interns to play with?
Will Andrea Mitchel cry if Hill doesnt get the VP?
Does anything the RNC says mean anything to anybody anymore...?
Thought you knew!!  They expect us all to be sitting around the table in the WH with Barack "Hussein" Obama, holding hands, eating grits, and singing old black hymns.  How dare this mult-racial man become POTUS!!!  We are on the brink of historical destiny.   They can hamper or slow it down, but they cannot stop what is meant to be.   The primaries played out the way they did for a reason.  I talked to some people from California who wished they would have let their primary stay in early June like previous POTUS primaries, because it would have been highly likely Clinton would be the nominee.  Florida and Michigan doing their primaries early against the DNC Rules was no accident either.  It was a providence from above.  Our time has come for a transformational leader of color to accomplish great things.  I predict that both Obama and McCain will tie in the electoral college in the general election (269-269), and the House of the Representatives, which currently and will have a Democratic majority will select Obama as the next POTUS.  However it happens, Michelle can start measuring for curtains in the Oval Office.
Unity in their minds not mine. Will never vote for Obama. This guy acts like he is a 20 year old rock star not a man running for the highest office. If I wanted a hip person I would watch American Idol. He has not got a clue.
The RNC responded this way: “Congressional Democrats are clearly eager to raise taxes, and that’s exactly what Barack Obama would do if elected."

Pathetic, just pathetic. Clearly they are hoping lower- and  middle-class Republican voters won't look too closely at the facts.  Obama has repeatedly reiterated that he will not impose higher income taxes on anyone making less than $200,000. As for those making more than that, Bush's tax cuts on the rich were never permanent.  They were due to run out after he left office anyway, so it's pretty disingenuous to pretend that allowing those cuts to expire, as they were SUPPOSED to, is a tax "increase." Finally, when the country is in a fiscal emergency caused by Republican overspending and lack of fiscal restraint, where the HECK do they get off shaking their fingers at the Dems, especially when Bush inherited a surplus from Democrat Clinton that Bush started to destroy long before 9/11. For REAL data on taxes over time--no commentary, just the facts--anyone who is curious should check out http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html, which shows income tax rates in the U.S. from 1913-2008.

You have disrespected Hillary and the voters in Michigan and FL.  the dems are so out of stop its funny
the DNC are sounding desperate. Are they afraid they chose the wrong candidate? They only have themselves to blame for making a mockery out of the voting process.
http://twocanpete.blogspot.com/
Hand over your donor list and beat it. Is that enough unity for you?
Just a reminder for women---a vote for McCain is a vote AGAINST Roe vs. Wade.  What a scary thought for us.  Just as important, we cannot let the next few seats on the supreme court go to the conservatives.  It would mean no more progress for anyone!
Sorry Sen. Murray.  I'm a Washington State University Cougar and I've never supported the UofW Fuskies....Rose Bowl or not.  I bleed Crimson and Gray, and I never wear Purple.  I think Obama would probably root for the Fuskies.  That's okay though.  I don't picture him in Cougar Crimson, and I won't be rooting (or voting) for him this November.  No Rose Bowl for Obama.
Sounds to me like the RNC is worried about November! illuminating the already obvious BS that has been taken care of and forgotten. The Democrats want to raise taxes! and your point is exactly what Repuks! are we too assume the taxes haven't been raised in the past 8 years and would you care to explain what the benefits of those taxes have been! Well I for one will be waiting for that response along with the rest of the country, that actually gives a damn! The so called Republican economics does not work , hello!! nor anything else you morons have attempted.
Make no mistake about it Repuks you have a fight on your hands and don't look now but your corner is empty!!!! lame!!! and hopeless!!!!!
For the past 8 years thanks for nothing!!
United We Stand!!!!!!!!!!
Obama 08 and no one else!! Yeah baby!!
Bravo, Kathy.  Spoken like a true narrow minded pundit full of bitterness and hate.

"Gain more bearing.  See me when you are worthy"
First of all, I have nothing but respect for those Clinton supporters who even though disappointed and hurt are loyally supporting their party's nominee. But for the rest of you, who are filled with so much hate toward Obama and think McCain is your answer, by all means go for it. If we lose without you, we lose. But frankly what good does all the same tired whining and the "I'll vote for McSame" threat do? Go vote for McCain--but mostly, just GO! Rational people have no desire to hear for the fiftieth time your sad tales of injustice and bitterness. All two hundred or so of you are all over the internet spewing your endless monologues and it's gotten really old. You sound like a bunch of infantile sore losers with absolutely nothing to offer this party or your country except your own petty temper tantrums, and I had enough of that many years ago from my two year old.
Beware of scared Republicans posing as Clinton supporters on this blog.  Obama is up 7% vs. McCain in the polls so they have a reason to be nervous.
I am an Obama supporter.  If Hillary had one fair and square I would have sent her a check.  I am an American before I am a democrat.  I don't think there is a party called Obama or Hillary.  Hillary lost.  Get over it!  Let's do what is best for our country.  I cannot imagine anyone being so narrow minded just because their candidate did not win.  Time to move on folks and unite to get our country on the right track.  Remember, Obama and Hillary are not that far apart on the issues - so why vote against your principles.  So imature and childish.  I didn't get my way so I am going to sulk.  I just don't understand that mentality.  It's not about Hillary it's about our country.
By the way, Kathy, you are neither a centrist or a democrat and for you to even think you are is putting both lables in a bad light..and that is all they are is lables.  If you feel the need to keep down the path of distruction because your candidate ran a lousy campaign, the you are a fool plain and simple.  To call someone who can organize, be fiscally responsible and have the ability to think outside old conventions an elitist only goes to show the limited scope of your vision and the lack of control over your bitterness.  As for your protest vote...polls say otherwise.
David, Indiana

I cant tell if you are trying to be satirical or a racist twit...darn text only post
honestly...first read...why you let some of these comments slide - with racist undertones, idiot references to Obama's faith. really. granted, speech is free...but it starts to sound a lot like Fixed Noise around here when some of these "informed" folks get their comments published....
I am cutting and pasting all of the Pro-Hillar/Anti Obama entries from here and other blogs.  If Obama is not elected, I can guarantee you that I will put up an anti-Hillary site the day after the election in November and I will work to do all I can to make sure that she does not even get a whif of the nomination for 2012.  All of you seem to forget that Barack had more votes than Hillary.  I never held any animosity towards Hillary Clinton and I would have worked my tail off to get her elected if she were the nominee.  She is not. I blame her loss on that idiot she had as an advisor (Mark Penn). That brainiack had her believeing the California was a winner take all state. (It must be hard work carrying around that humongous brain of his) She had no plan after Super Tuesday, She allowed Obama to run off 11 victories in a row. She did not contest in the caucus states.  While she finished very strong, I believe that if she had run her campaign from the beginning as she did for the last 2 months, there would not be any discussion. So, to face facts, Obama ran an very good strategic campaign.  We need to unite around Obama.  We have gas at over $4.00 a gallon, almost 400,000 jobs lost this year alone, 1 million homes in or facing foreclosure.  Thankfully my wife and I both have jobs. If either of us lose our jobs, we will have a very hard time and may end up as a statistic.  I have 3 young children whom I worry about their future every night I tuck them in.  I WOULD NOT CARE IF THE DEMOCRATS NOMINATED A HAM SANDWICH, IT WOULD STILL BE BETTER THAN THAT FOSSIL MCCAIN!! (McBush, McSame, McInsane, McWar, etc.)
Obama/Clinton 2008!
I will vote for Obama regardless but I still believe they will be strong together. I love Hillary but we have our nominee; let's be excited not divisive. We already have had a Civil War in this country. We don't need one within our Democratic Party.
All these whinning old spinster Clinton Lemmings
are really starting to get old.  If all they can
do is continue to bitch and threaten, then good
riddance to all of them.  All they're doing at this
point is dragging the party down.

WE REALLY DON'T EVEN NEED THEM!
God I am so sick of the "teach the dnc a lesson!" argument. Listen, If you are going to vote for McCain than just shut up and do it. Stop filling the blog with your whining because Hillary was "treated unfairly". You never give one concrete example, One moment in time when the DNC was against Hillary. So just go ahead and do it and let the rest of us try to get a word in about policy and the GE.

This is coming from a man who never had anything against Hillary and would have voted for her had she won the primary BUT SHE DIDN'T! GET OVER IT OR SHUT UP!
HRC Supporters:

I believe Mrs Clinton made a beautiful concession speech and made it quite clear what she wanted to do as well as what she wanted you to do--Support Senator Obama---She did not say--REMAIN ANGRY, BITTER, CONTINUE TO BLAME OTHERS FOR MY LOSS, AND BY ALL MEANS VOTE FOR A CLUELESS REPUBLICAN OUT OF SPITE!!!

People--if you can't get over it and do the right thing, then shut up your nonsense and go ahead and vote for Mccain but stop your long uneducated diatribes and go take a Civics or American History class--because you clearly have no clue about the fundamentals of primary elections or the actual rules of your own democratic party.
If you want unity, Read the headlines today! GOP stops DNC on gas issue!

Your Washington self serving GOP paper hangers again derail Congress! The People are about to send Washington a terrible message. Our nation is about to stagger to a halt! We woke to being bombed at Pearl Harbor, terrorist gave us 9/11, Iraq was a lie, Afghanistan is another Vietnam along with Iraq, The price of oil is a lie. Yet our derailed congress could careless, The President stated ""He will Veto any bill which places new tax and regulations on Big oil companies! We are seeing our nations infrastructure being ripped apart and each day there is no solutions!!  Well , I would say unity has fallen and our situation grows to destroy our economy.

Is MSNBC, standing and supporting the destruction??
The republicans are killing me...they gave up all rights to claim any economic or budgetary conservatism when they spent and borrowed for 6 years and put it all on the naitonal credit card...mccain is a liar if he tells you no ones taxes have to go up to pay for his wars and promises...he is also a liar if he says it can all be found in waste and fraud...
Throughout this long, exhausting, but in the end rewarding primary process I’ve come to the conclusion that one word sums up exactly why Hillary Clinton did not become our nominee. Not because of media bias (which still gives me the biggest chuckle), not because of overt sexism (not saying it wasn’t apart of some aspects of the process but no more so than the racism that reared its ugly head too), not because she was “cheated” or “robbed” as some claim as their excuse for denouncing Sen. Obama’s nomination, etc. Nope. None of these explanations are more clear to me than the obvious…KARMA.

Yep…that good old “you reap what you sow” adage that provides us with the consequences that affect our lives both good and bad.

I sat, listened, and watched day after day, week after week, as did millions of other voters/supporters of both Clinton and Obama to what was being said and done to gain the nomination by these two candidates. Did Sen. Obama make mistakes? Hell yes! Some of his own doing and others at the hands of fear mongers and propaganda hounds who do not know anything but to fight for greed and attempt to bludgeon with lies for fear that their own inadequacies will come into question. Deflect and attack are their mottos of choice. This too at some point became Sen. Clinton’s biggest liability in my opinion as I watched her “throw the kitchen sink”, become frustrated with the hype that gave it life, and then settled back as KARMA came to right the situation time and time again.

I personally have nothing against Sen. Clinton personally. She is formidable in many ways and I do not begrudge her having gained the support of the many voters whom embrace her some to the point of fanaticism something that can be found in any candidate’s mass of supporters. But I did take note that every time Sen. Clinton decided she wanted to “take it there” and was egged on by the media, Bill, her supporters, etc. how I began to find myself less and less angry by her antics simply because I would tell myself…”Just wait…this is going to come back to bite Hillary in the behind.” And each and every time something that was said or done that was “below the belt” such was the outcome. Then came the blame and excuses on sexism, the media, etc. with no responsibility taken for the consequences of one’s own actions.

So for those Clinton supporters still bitter, still clinging to writing-in her name or planning on charging the convention with chants of Denver, or vowing to give the presidency to McCain out of spite against Obama personally without much regard for their own self-interests and that of their family and children as Democrats if they do just remember…KARMA.
McCain is too far right, Obama is too far left. Hillary was the moderate, and she got booted. The treatment she got from goobers like Matthews, who observed she was only a senator because her husband slept with some bimbo, was unconscionable. I'll likely vote McCain, even though I have voted for the democratic candidate for president since 1976, just because I think the way Obama's winning stinks.  He pandered to the base to create seperation between he and Hillary regarding a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq that he knows is fiction.  He pandered to the base to create seperation from Hillary regarding his intention to negotiate with the leaders of Iraq and now has Biden restating his position.  He is the least qualified candidate, and his only credible claim to the nomination was his intention to change politics, to be transparent and honest.  He's already failed that test.  He has never challenged authority within the democratic party, and McCain has been all but thrown from his for his views, yet Obama is the change candidate.  What a load.  We'll see how the town hall meetings go, but boy will it be hard to hold my nose and vote for Barrack.
I am a voter without a party affiliation and will not vote for Obama.  He is far too liberal and is backed by the liberal wing of the democratic party.  This tells me that he will try to take this country too far to the left.  He also, as I see it, stands to be indicted due to Rezco.  He is a Chicago politician and is an intimate of the Daley machine.  He has sidestepped issues instead of answering questions pertaining to those issus, he is only capable of answering those questions when reading from a script.  This tells me that he is not to be trusted.
He sat in a church for 20 years along with his wife and children where the preacher taught hatred of other races.  This shows a lack of good judgement.
His comments about white, rural America being bitter and clinging to their guns and religion as well as calling his grandmother a "typical white woman" show elitist and racist attitudes.
When he says that he was poor, he is flat out lying. His grandmother was an officer in a bank.
He took drugs as a teenager and young adult.  This shows a history of bad judgement.  How can he be a good role model for our children?
These are the reasons that I will not vote for Obama.

I would have voted for Hillary Clinton, but the powers-that-be within the DNC, after practically promising her the nomination, decided that they would rather ruin the democratic party's chances this fall and back a loser.

Instead, I will vote for McCain (my first time voting republican) as he is actually more middle-of-the-road than Obama.
Howard and Nancy, you should have thought about the consequences of stabbing Hillary and twisting super delegate's arms before you annointed Obama.  Do you really expect Hillary supporters, who really really believe in her, and feel she has been wronged by the party, to switch to Obama?  You are asking the impossible and have nerve to ask it of us and to expect our support.  I for one, will not vote for Obama but will do a write in for Hillary.  McCain will only be a one term president, and if we have a Veto Congress then it wont be so terrible.  I will work to help assure a Veto Congress.
