A thank you letter...






My fellow Americans:


As your future President I want to thank my supporters, for your
mindless support of me, despite my complete lack of any legislative
achievement, my pastor's relations with Louis Farrakhan and Libyan dictator
Moamar Quadafi, or my blatantly leftist voting record while I present myself


as some sort of bi-partisan agent of change.


I also like how my supporters claim my youthful drug use and criminal
behavior somehow qualifies me for the Presidency after 8 years of claiming
Bush's youthful drinking disqualifies him. Your hypocrisy is a beacon of
hope shining over a sea of political posing.


I would also like to thank the Kennedy's for coming out in support of
me. There's a lot of glamour behind the Kennedy name, even though JFK
started the Vietnam War, his brother Robert illegally wiretapped Martin
Luther King, Jr. and Teddy killed a female employee with whom he was having
an extra marital affair and who was pregnant with his child. And I'm not
going anywhere near the cousins, both literally and figuratively. And I'd
like to thank Oprah Winfrey for her support. Her love of meaningless empty
platitudes will be the force that propels me to the White House.


Americans should vote for me, not because of my lack of experience or
achievement, but because I make people feel good. Voting for me causes some


white folk to feel relieved of their imagined, racist guilt. I say things
that sound meaningful, but don't really mean anything because Americans are
tired of things having meaning. If things have meaning, then that means you


have to think about them. Americans are tired of thinking. It's time to
shut down the brain, and open up the heart. So when you go to vote in the
primaries, remember don't think, just do. And do it for me.

You don't hear him focusing his campaigning on solving the "ghetto" problems because he is NOT (contrary to popular backwards racist thinking) running on a platform of "Black Entitlement".
These narrow minded  backwards thinking fearmongers who are trying to scare white voters into believing "they" will take over if one of "their own" is elected, are demonstrating their mindset clearly. I am somewhat surprised (key word being  somewhat) that Nader is among those who harbor these thoughts.

'...Dems who flipped on FISA immunity see more telecom cash

House Democrats who flipped their votes to support retroactive immunity for telecom companies in last week’s FISA bill took thousands of dollars more from phone companies than Democrats who consistently voted against legislation with an immunity provision, according to an analysis by MAPLight.org.

In March, the House passed an amendment that rejected retroactive immunity. But last week, 94 Democrats who supported the March amendment voted to support the compromise FISA legislation, which includes a provision that could let telecom companies that cooperated with the government’s warrantless electronic surveillance off the hook.

The 94 Democrats who changed their positions received on average $8,359 in contributions from Verizon, AT&T and Sprint from January, 2005, to March, 2008, according to the analysis by MAPLight, a nonpartisan organization that tracks the connection between campaign contributions and legislative outcomes.

Retroactive immunity could squash about 40 lawsuits pending against telecommunication companies that helped the government monitor the telecommunications traffic of Americans without warrants. The telecom industry has lobbied hard to insure that the provision is included in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act update Congress is currently considering.

Nick Papas, spokesman for the House Democratic Caucus, said, “Many members of the caucus opposed the earlier version of this legislation and ultimately supported better legislation that was the product of bipartisan negotiations. Months of hard work, not campaign contributions, earned the support of many members.”

MAPLight executive director Daniel Newman agreed that there are many factors that affect a lawmaker’s vote but, unlike pressure from constituents, campaign cash is not a “democratic influence.”

The 116 Democrats who remained opposed to telecom immunity received an average of $4,987 from the telecoms during the three-year period, the analysis showed.

“Regardless which way the legislators’ vote, the fact is most of them get money from the telecom industry and that buys access even if it doesn’t buy a favorable result for telecom,” Newman said.

The members who voted yes on June 20 received, on average, $9,659 from the big three phone companies while those who opposed the bill received an average of $4,810, MAPLight found.

The money provides special interests with a bigger megaphone, Newman said.

“Who’s more likely to get a meeting you or AT&T, which donates million of dollars and has the legislator’s ear?”...'

Talk about ruining a legacy.  Ralph Nader has done so much good but his last decade has not been his finest.

I can not believe Nadar said this in 2008.  Please explain what "Talking White" means?  Doesn't Nadar realize that Barack is an educated man?  I would hope he wouldn't speak "ghetto" if he graduated from Harvard.  Doesn't Nadar realize that the whole world is watching us and they now see that racism is alive and well here in America in 2008!  How can we want the world to have democracy (everyone is created equal) like America if we think and speak like this.

Guess what, Nader?  Barack Obama grew up white with white middle-class values.  Michelle Obama grew up on the South Side of Chicago, but did her best to stay above the fray.  They live in Hyde Park, an upscale, primarily white neighborhood in Chicago.

Senator Obama has repeatedly spoken to the African-American community in terms of helping themselves and not expecting government to help them.  His last speech to African Americans was critical of the exploding numbers of single parents in the black community.

He has demonstrated over and over again that he is not for government involvement in "equalizing" racial inequities.  To do so would hurt more than help close the racial divide.  He has shown that he much prefers that everyone does and gives their fair share and that nobody gets additional governmental benefit for being successful.  Not equality, but also no preferential treatment based on status.

By the way, how is your Corvair?  How about trying some quick turns and disappearing from the public view.

Nadar assumes he knows Obama, or shared time in the senate with him. Nadar has become an old pariah. All the greens I know plan to stick with Obama. Nadar is a good man as a consumer advocate, but lately he's working against his own interest with this type of division.

There's just one thing I'm unsure of at this point: Why do we care what Ralph Nader and Karl Rove think about Barack Obama?
One thinks that if an Afican-american politician is well-educated and well-spoken that automatically means he's arrogant. The other thinks that an African-American politician who doesn't espouse either a Black Panther or a Rainbow Coalition agenda is pandering to Whites. Both of these men are known for attempting to make cartoons and sterotypes out of anybody they disagree with, so this is nothing new.
(But I have to admit, there is some irony in Karl Rove referring to someone else as "arrogant!"

Wow, Nader is nuts - no surprise there.  Anybody running for president has to be a leader of ALL Americans - not just one interest group.  This is what Obama is about: not pandering to whites or blacks, but trying to unite us all so that we can move forward.

John Edwards ran on exactly the platform Nader recomends and he lost. Newsflash: poor people don't vote. What's "backward-looking" about Nadar's remarks -- they're true and timely.  What Obama doesn't like about them is that they're accurate!

The only thing I take issue with in Nader's statement is that, Obama is counting on "white guilt".  Are there some people who have "white guilt"?  Sure.  Is that sentiment enough carry a black canidate to the White House? Absolutely not!   Obama is trying to be open and engaging to all people, no matter their race, because that's what the President needs to do.  He's running to be President of the United States. It's a big country with a LOT of issues.  Taking care if the poor needs to be at the top of the list, but it's not the only thing on the list... by a longshot.

The most racist parts of Nader's comment is that he stereotypes all African-Americans as living in "the ghettos" and being mostly worried about "payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead".

But then, he's gotta be almost as old as McCain, and probably doesn't get out much anymore.  Typical old white liberal.

With the exception of his reace comments nader makes some valid points concerning the credit card industry and predatory lending practices.  In the 70s and 80s we had usary laws which were gutted by the congress.  Obama seems to have no position on that and Nader is spot on.  That said, his race comments are out of line. What say you Obama supporters?
