Obama brings on Clinton policy director

Posted: Friday, June 27, 2008 3:04 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
The unity continues... Obama has incorporated former Clinton policy director Neera Tanden into the campaign. Tanden "will help coordinate the domestic policy process under Heather Higginbottom, the campaign's Policy Director," according to an Obama campaign release.

VIDEO: Joining Hillary Clinton at a rally in Unity, N.H., Barack Obama says, "I've admired her as a leader; I've learned from her as a candidate. She rocks." Watch his entire speech.

Also joining the campaign is Melody Barnes, who currently serves as the executive vice president at the progressive group, Center for American Progress. Barnes will have the title of Senior Domestic Policy Advisor.

"Barnes also served as Chief Counsel to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy on the Senate Judiciary Committee," the campaign notes in its release. "In that role, she helped to fight for civil rights, women’s health and reproductive rights, shape commercial law and religious liberties laws, and review executive branch and judicial appointments."

*** UPDATE *** From a March memo penned by Tanden on Obama's economic plan: "The contrast could not be clearer -- on Monday, Senator Clinton announced a detailed, specific plan to address the housing and credit crisis. On Tuesday, Senator McCain announced that he had no plan. And today, Senator Obama offered just words.” Added at the bottom of the memo, research on how much money Obama has taken from various finance groups.

And, of course, there was health care: “By choosing to forgo a mandate, it’s not universal,” said Neera Tanden, Clinton’s policy director. “It will leave 15 million Americans uninsured. Even with a generous subsidy, millions of Americans will not get health insurance.”

Senator Clinton makes Obama look like----well,Obama.Nothing there,even she did her best to paint a picture on his blankness.
"Obama is too risky by half."
- NO OBAMA......NO OBAMA - Friday, June 27, 2008

Oh yeah? Which 1/2 would that be? A physical half? In that case which color, the white side, or the black side?

Why not just be clear and outgoing with your pathetic try at subtle racism. With the information available, you should be ashamed.

As a white male in my late 20's, it frustrates me to no end how people of my generation can have these racist beliefs in this day and age. How? Why?

Grow up you pathetic archives of the past!
Clinton = SCOTUS...a real reality...
Listen close to Obama speech at Unity..
Every state for a long time influence...
Clues...
To Kathy:   You need to go to the DNC website.   They are using a grassroots effort for the party.  We will not take PAC money or money from Lobbyist.  If the DNC has decided that yes, the American people are getting involved now all of us in 50 states; but that's okay - you can let McCain continue to be a puppet for the PAC and Lobbyist money.

I have donated to OBAMA and the DNC for the party.  I would never vote for McCain - I have a conscience, then again even if McCain is awake and speaking, he appears unconscious.  He's dipping into Cindy's vicoden.  He is repeating all of Obama and Clinton's ideas...so that would mean he has no clue about what is going on in the world.  So go ahead and waste your vote on McCain....you need to check out his economic advisor - he's a real IDIOT AND THEY ARE ALL MILLIONAIRES.....I don't see anything that would make me vote for McCain....absolutely nothing; and he's still supports NAFTA.....LIVE WITH THAT.
Funny - I will NOT vote for obama because I love the USA and obama is NOT qualified to lead our country.
Obama is an Arrogant, Radical Fraud that will never be elected - and did I mention he is NOT qualified.
The Millions of Hillary supporters will NOT unite, support or VOTE for obama - for one reason - this guy is Not qualified!!!!  Please - STOP telling us to fall in line - unite - or calling us racist - we will Vote for our country - McCain is a good 2nd choice.
Cherry picking the best -- ha, ha!

If they were so good...why did they lose?!

Obama's campaign beginning to look like an over-crowded row boat in the ocean -- lots of people, no direction!!
Let's hope Obama's approach to repairing the years of damage in this country like FDR and not Clinton (corporatism in the extreme). The similarities between the Great Depression and now are scary and it took a New Deal, with its investment in infrastructure and people to overcome it. Alternate, green energy and national service, national healthcare and education are key to our recovery.
I have faith in Obama to bring onboard the right people to tackle the daunting challenges we face to reverse the fascist corporatism of the Bush Regime.
Surely the American public can see that electing McCain is equivalent to sticking your ostrich head in the sand while the oil sheiks (and their Bush buddies) rob us blind.

McCain = Bush's Third Term. No thanks!

If John McCain wins in four years another 1000 or so men will have lost there life in a war that should have never been started. So each person that votes for him should have to face the Mothers and fathers of these men.
HRC supporters, it is your choice to vote for McCain but please stop making excuses to justify the  decision.  Accept and respect the reality that Obama is the Democratic Nominee;

Stop behaving like a "Scorned Woman" that fails to accept the reality that her husband has left her for another woman; that is younger and much more beautiful.

Get Over It - stop the unwise self-destructive behavior.
Yeah, and when you work for Mickey D's you don't talk about Whoppers on the job.  Ooo!  We're so confused by this stuff, FirstRead!  Scandal!
Hill/Bill stillcannot realize they lost- Personally in my opinion, I would campaign as he did- for change. but obviously Hill is gunning for VP, thus she and Bill are enthusiastic about campaining. He probably will be the President and with those two around... they would not be helping OBAMA, but the Hill/Bill 2012
