Battleground watch

Posted: Tuesday, July 08, 2008 9:16 AM by Domenico Montanaro

BATTLEGROUND WATCH.
COLORADO: You know times are tough when Republican incumbents are launching ads with phrases like "Republican leaders lost their way" and "Republicans getting our own house in order."

NEVADA: Big news from Nevada’s political guru, Jon Ralston. In his nightly Flash Report, Ralston reports: "That story in this morning's Flash Follow-up Journal about registration numbers covered the macro picture - the Democrats now have a 55,560-voter lead over the Republicans in a state that was dead even a presidential cycle ago. But the numbers in CD3 should be the most worrisome to the GOP, as Democrats now have a nearly 24,000-voter lead in a district that was even only two years ago. The slow-but-sure Democratic spread in that district means that Rep. Jon Porter will have to run a kitchen sink campaign against state Sen. Dina Titus to survive and will have to do so flawlessly, too. If the Democrats can't take out Porter this time, they never will - that is, if the prospective 2010 U.S. Senate candidate even gives them."

NEW MEXICO: McCain will make his second trip to Albuquerque on July 15.

VIRGINIA: “In a sweltering warehouse in an industrial neighborhood in Richmond, the [McCain] campaign gathered an ethnically diverse group of two dozen small business owners to applaud McCain's economic message while being critical of his Democratic opponent, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), for wanting to raise taxes.”

Sounds like they met while sitting in the flames of hell.
these new numbers are not in stone. They will be checked because of so many not being legitamate. Anyone say Chicago? Just asking not acusing. They in many states have found dead people voting again. I thought this was gone but guess not . Well Obama checked all those lists and names for state senate guess we can too. Hillary will be back. Obama is not pres. or nom. yet. When does Pastor Wrights new book come out?If Obama pulls this nom. off you will get Bush 3rd term.He is all for Bush plans now,you guys still cannt see you were duped. He will not be pres. Hillary or McCain.
same old vile new names you guys are great.Obama is for gun control, cannt decide on abortion ( the row vs wade toute is so old it has grown a beard. No one will over turn it)FISA,NAFTA(says one thing but tells others another now another pledge, he makes me dizzy)Iraq ( It will be over before he gets there Hahahha)You guys have a problem here if you cannt reign him in. Where's all that power you guys have to tell him what to do? I guess you just sit and behave like your told stay in line and wait for further instructions. Keep busy with the vile and dont ask questions. Not what I want to represent me. You will never know where your at.sad sorry it has come this far. Hillary still might pull this mess out and fix it.only way Dem. will be in WH this Nov.

As usual, McCain is being dishonest and dishonorable. Why is it so hard for you to mention the fact that Obama's proposed tax increase will affect only those making over $250,000?

I know this is a burden for "journalists" like Charlie Gibson who apparently is struggling to make ends meet on a quarter-million plus per year, since he's obsessed with it, but I don't think most news reporters are in Charlie's tax bracket. Or are you? Maybe reporters should be required to admit how much they make when reporting on issues like this.
The Colorado ads sound too funny; I'd love to see them. Got a link?
Why is McCain allowed to make statements to a group, and the media reports it but does not bother to investigate if it is true?
Obama has not said anything about raising taxes on low incomes.
The media looks at things as to weather or not it will get people to listen.
Never mind the country, or honesty. Tabloid news is everywhere.
What happen to investigating and truth telling?
Owl
Houston, they have a problem!
If Limbaugh deserves $400 MILLION you can imagine what O"Reilly, Hannutty, Coulter and the rest of the puppets on Fox earn. I would imagine the majority of well known newscasters have contracts earning millions of $ yearly. Katie Couric for sure has a multimillion dollar annual salary. Most of them deserve what they get.

I think you'll find as the election draws closer the GOP will gain back those battleground states. More and More is coming out about obama and people aren;t liking it. He has no valid plan to save this counrty.
I  have to do a right in vote for Hillary

McFossil got 24 people to attend a speech! OMG!!! Book the Metrodome for September! He's on a roll! Who said he can't draw a crowd?????????
two dozen? TWO dozen?

hahahahahahahaha  ha
McCain found 24 supporters in Virginia? Huh, that's more than I would have thought.
I like how Barrys definition of "rich" keeps changing...once he figured out there weren't enough people making more than 250K a year to tax he just kept lowering the standard to 32K and presto whizzo we have the money for all of his programs
Yes, Rick in NC, you're right. And what people dont realize is that now part of your earnings are protected from social security tax. That is going away. You will pay social security on your full eearnings. Nope, he's not raising taxes; just fully taxing what was partially taxed before. I've read some economists projects that if all Obama's promises are met, the middle class person will pay 48% in taxes. Won't it be great to give half your earnings to pay for somebody else's daycare, food, housing, healthcare, abortions, etc?
Rick from 10:49 fame, to augment your point, check this link out.  I think you should find it very "informative".

Now, for the topic at hand in terms of battleground states, Senator Obama is clearly in a better position than Senator McCain but that doesn't mean anything today. What has to happen is the Obama supporters continue to speak the truth and show the facts (no name calling or unnecessary innuendos) as well as volunteer when you can with time and money.  Then and only then will we get a change from what we've had in 6 of the last 8 years (total Republican rule in every phase of the legislative and executive branch of government where there was absolutely no control over anything related to money) and then the last two years with Republican control, obviously, in the executive branch.
But, being up in Colorado, New Mexico and Iowa; really close in Indiana, Virginia and Nevada, and  competitive in Montana, wow.  Senator Obama really did mean it when he said a 50 state campaign.
If Obama can win those four states, he's the president.
Hillary 08-yes she can...and how do you see her getting to the Whitehouse? I'm just curious. Interesting to me how so many of the Hillary fans have decided that they will pack up their toys and stay home since they didn't get their favorite nominee.  How backward thinking. Obama has NOT changed his message, people are just now focusing on things that they believe will stir up problems for him. Don't be fooled. And if you don't believe Roe vs. Wade can be and probably will be overturned with a McCain presidency you need to think again. The Supreme Court justices have never been up for grabs like they are now in recent history.  Take a look at who McCain would support...they are ALL for overturning the decision!!
