From NBC's Mark Murray
It's not surprising news, but the liberal-leaning League of Conservation Voters is endorsing Obama today. However, it's doing it in several battleground states, as well as in DC.

The events: Cincinnati, OH (featuring Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer); Denver, CO (featuring former Energy Secretary Federico Pena); Santa Fe, NM (Gov. Bill Richardson); Missoula, MT (Gov. Brian Schweitzer); and Bloomfield Hills, MI. The one in DC features LCV President Gene Karpinski and former EPA Administration Carol Browner

Federico Pena is a former Secretary of Transportation.
Now that is BIG news.

Obama is like a sports car.  All shiny and new but lacks an engine.  Where is that going to get you?
Same place as an Obama presidency  NOWHERE.

Obama is a virsus and McCain is the Vaccine.
Good.  On energy and the environment, there is only one candidate on the right side of the issues.

(I'm glad to see Bill Richardson getting out there in the West, too.... hate to see a good haircut go to waste.)

;)

Now, when will Bill Clinton officially "back" Obama?
STUNNER!!!
With Mccain's record on the environment over 26 years was there any chance they would endorse anyone but Obama.

Christ, it took him 26 years to realize ckimate change is real.

------------
your post lacks substance, like your candidate McGeritol!
Of course the Greens love Obama. His policies will raise the price of gas to $10/gallon, so we'll all be walking or riding the bus to work. Of course, that will make it tough on the people that have to go more then 5 miles to work. But hey, all is not lost, they'll probably have more income from all of Baracks social programs. Think of it as 52-weeks of vacation!! Woo-Hoo!!
As the days and flubs from McCain go on, the Republicans posting sound more and more desperate, don't they? Not only do they have a lame duck president sitting in the White House, they have a lame candidate who wants to replace him. LOL! This contest is really over. IN JULY no less. It will be a landslide in November and I can't wait.
Ah the let em eat waffles crowd.
I know this country has paid a dear price for the Karl Rove and Fox News politics we have seen over the last 8 years. And I know that is why the democrats are being so aggressive this time. Especially after what happened to John Kerry. We're not going to take it anymore. And that's commendable.

However, I don't believe for one minute that Senator John McCain was trying to put Senator Barack Obama's life in danger by saying last week that he expected Senator Obama to be in the middle east at some point over the weekend.

A slip of the tongue, yes. And a bad one. But do you honestly believe he was trying to alert the terrorists?

No. And it's cruel to even suggest it. Very cruel.

Senator Obama is running the kind of campaign he promised to run. Isn't it time we all raised the bar a bit ourselves?

We have it within our power to be sure Senator Obama is elected. Bottom line: We need to send the Republican Party away for good.

And First Read is allowing us to get our message out. Even all the insults everyone is throwing at them. Have you seen Chuck Todd on tv? He's got great political instincts. He's interesting. He never ever agrees with all the talking points of the day. He comes with his own viewpoint. You needn't agree with him. That doesn't mean he's in the tank for John McCain. (By the way, he told us his wife worked for Jim Webb).

This is our moment. Let's go.

And McCain is????  You can't be serious?  The rethuglicans are once again on the wrong side of environmental issues and you have criticism and not answers.  Typical Rethuglicans to be critical & hypocritical, now that's the rethuglican brand we know.  Thanks for reminding us.
Great post Pat from Boston!

BRAVO!
L Roberts Taylor, Bufaalo, NY in typical neo-con fashion proclaims / "If Al Gore or John Kerry had ever been President, we'd be talking about Saddam being at the White House signing worthless treaties."

it's also worth noting if we would have not invaded iraq under false pretenses iran would not be enriching uranium because saddam would not have allowed it, which is worse chief, iraq was a greater u.s. blunder than vietnam

Is this response in English? Not enough uppers in your Wheaties today?
"Obama is like a sports car.  All shiny and new but lacks an engine.  Where is that going to get you?"
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Dude, that doesn't even make any sense. You Repubs have officially lost it.
Is this because the Democratic Congress wants to RAISE the gas tax, ss was reported over the weekend?  I guess all the economists who were against the gas tax holiday are on board?  The fact that this is being pushed by a construction lobbying group demonstrates that nothing has changed.

I am sure that BO will be against this idea until January 21st.

Chuck Todd - honestly speaking - he's one of the few jouranlist I like.

Sometimes he does seem a little bias - but he does great work. SO I forgive him the few mishaps and seemingly favorable coverages for John McCain.

Bottomline - people that want and understand how bad change is needed and are not concerned about a name or the color of a person skin - will see that Barack Obama is the only viable choice.

We will vote for Barack Obama - no matter what the media reports or how they spin it.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
Everyone here seems to be McCain fans. Yet the results are shocking!

This is what Republicans have been reduced to this campaign cycle - meaningless sayings like "your guy is the virus and my guy is the vaccine."

I guess next we'll hear how McCain's dog can beat up Obama's dog. Anything, to avoid substantive discussion.
dk in tn - that the dumbest analogy I have ever heard.

When have you brought a shinny new sports car with no engine?

Well - maybe being a repuke is your problem - you are not smart enough to know ...you can't drive a car that does not have an engine, whether it’s old or new.

Maybe, that's why you want John McCain - you two think alike.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
Of course this Environmental Group supports and endorses Obama as do most people.
When you're losing, you will say and do anything to put yourself into a winning mode.  This is what John Mccain is trying to do.  Barack Obama is being accepted by the whole world to be the next president of the United States. Mccain is only being accepted by those that don't know any better.  By the way, Obama hasn't just started being recognized, it all began when he gave that marvelous speech at the 2004 Democratic National convention.
Jason in NJ,

Federico Pena held two cabinet positions -- Secy of Transportation AND Secy of Energy.
To: Paul Miller, Woodbridge, VA

My sentiments exactly. McCain's supporters will say anything to avoid substantive debate, becuase unfortunately, their candidate can barely remember what legilsation he's supported in the Senate. It's a sad day in politics when people have to rely on lame metaphors about "viruses" and "vaccines" to get their point accross.
Great Posts Pat (Boston) and The Democrat Soldier - needed to be said.

Well Said!!!!
These states are battle ground states, so it isn't a huge surprise.  Many Republican seem to think that there needs to be no government intervention regarding pollution and waste products; I happen to disagree.  I would like a clean world.

To Do Dee Do: If fuel standards were raised and new kinds of cars built so that you didn't need more than 4 or 5 gallons for a month or two, then it wouldn't be so bad.  Personally, I would like to be able to afford the Tesla Motors' roadster.  I guess I'll have to wait for my all electric car.
In europe they already have cars that exceed 50mpg, all America has to do is retool like we did after WW11 and come up with electric/hybride cars and in 10-20 years oil will be obsolite for cars.  so which candidate wants to fight wars for oil and which candidate has a vision for the future that includes PEACE AND PROSPERITY.   pickens and gore have the right idea.
McCain supporters must be rich, damb, very old, have no TV or internet, and no brain cells.
JOHN MCCAIN HAS BEEN SITTING IN CONGRESS FOR DECADES WHILE THIS ENERGY CRISIS DEVELOPED BEFORE HIS EYES OR PERHAPS THEY DID NOT NOTICE BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO BUSY BECOMING RICH AND PANDERING TO SPECIAL INTEREST.

WE CAN CERTAINLY VALIDATE THAT BECAUSE MC CAIN CHOSE THE MOST NOTORISUS LOBBYISTS TO RUN HIS CAMPAIGN, GRAMM ARCHITECT OF THE ENRONLOOPE HOLE, THE SUBPRIME MORTGAGE MELTDOWN AND THE CALIFORNIA ELECTRICTY CRISIS

WHILE GRAMM'S WIFE WENT TO WORK TO ENRON FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND THE ENTIRE ENRON EMPLOYEES LOST THEIR SHIRTS, RETIREMENT AND LIFE SAVINGS...............

DON'T FORGET BLACK WHO HAS THE MOST "UNSAVORY CLIENTS" DICTATORS, RAPISTS, MURDERERS, DRUGS FOLK IN THOS NOTORIOUS FOREIGN COUNTRIES..................

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE MCCAIN CHOSE TO RUN HIS CAMPAIGN AND THEY PROVED TRUE, ONE CALLED US A NATION OF WHINNERS AND THE OTHER SAID JUST ONE MORE TERRORIST ATTACK IN THE US WOULD BENEFIT MCCAIN.  yOU GET WHAT YOU HIRE..............................

THAT SAYS IT ALL.  THESE FOLK HAVE NO CONSCIENCE AND DON'T CARE ABOUT WORKING FOLK OR ANYONE BUT THE RICH.
Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not big on cars, but don't sports cars have really really nice engines that make you go really fast?

Just wondering...
"the liberal-leaning League of Conservation Voters is endorsing Obama today."

Not that I needed any, but here's another great reason not to vote for Obama.
These are all governors??????????????????????????????

There is no environmental credibility here - politicians are not environmental strategists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hang it up to whom ever wrote this article - you have no credibility for this article.

PhD
why would anyone endorse obama on the environment, he has done nothing, said nothing or thought anything about our environment, all he wants is change, what exactly that is no one knows....nobama 08
