Down the ballot: Praising Pelosi

Posted: Monday, August 04, 2008 9:02 AM by Domenico Montanaro

Bloomberg's Al Hunt gives Nancy Pelosi some political praise. There was a ton of doom and gloom predicted by some at the prospect of a Speaker Pelosi. And she has been remarkable political astute.

The New York Times takes a look at Republican Sen. John Sununu's rematch with Democrat Jeanne Shaheen. If Shaheen wins, she'll do something that's rarely been done in Senate races: win a rematch after losing her initial challenge.

Watch out Republicans.  There is a tidal wave coming.

Al Hunt gives Polosi praise? He must be one of the few because she's gotten nearly nothing done save for a federal minimum wage (which most states exceed). It was certainly brave of Pelosi to not let a vote on the drilling bill come to a vote. And then there's the 9% approval rating congress. I guess for a Democrat and a liberal, all of that combined would be called a success.
Pelosi has been 'politically astute'? At what? Keeping her job? That makes her a lot like Obama, all talk, no action.
I'm not entirely thrilled with Pelosi; but I DO recognize that without a majority, she's been swimming upstream.

And From:  MCCAIN CAMP CALLS WEB AD "HUMOR"
“The most sophisticated humor the Obama fanatics can handle is Knock-knock jokes. Even those confuse the heck out of them most of the time, especially if you tell them to go first.”  Jonesy Williams (Sent Friday, August 01, 2008 4:27 PM)

I’ll take the bait,
Obama supporter, “Knock Knock”
Jonesy, “Who’s there?”
O, “American Hero”
J, “American Hero, who?”
O, “My point, exactly (and the Dems say, Amen)!”
Nancy Pelosis is just as arrogant as Barack Obama.  She hold the Speaker of the House position as a dictator.  She doesn't promote democracy , she promotes Marxist and socialistic agenda.  Not allowing debate regarding off-shore drilling.
It was pretty funny how Pelosi shut off the lights on the Republicans - who after years and years of doing nothing on energy, despite obvious warning signs (for decades) this day was coming, now are frothing at the mouth to drill more.

Actually we need to see this for what it is - political theater and distraction.

The Republicans were all about foreign policy and war on terrorism. Then when things weren't looking so good, magically the conversation shifted to the "new" and "unforeseeable" crisis with illegal immigration.

Then things started to settle down in Iraq, and they were all about the foreign stuff again.

Now Iraq is telling us to get out and seemingly hoping the Democrat wins the presidency, and the Republicans need a new change of conversation. Can they go back to immigration? Not likely, with McCain as their nominee.

And McCain doesn't really seem to know much about anything, so doesn't seem to have any strengths to play on. What to do?

Gas prices! That's the distraction. We need to drill! And we need to do it today (so maybe we'll actually start getting the first drops of gasoline from oil rigs off the coast of South Carolina and California in 12 years - maybe).
Way to go Nancy...
Who has all the "testicular fortitude" now?

Great ABC punch out interview!!
Thank you MSNBC, CNN and FOX news networks for Obamas decrease in the "polls". Thanks a lot for contributing to McSurges canstant lies. I hope all of you can sleep at night knowing you have helped contribute to his campaign of lies. McSurge and camp has lied about everything under the sun and have run a terrible campaign, thus far. So, Thank you very much MSM.
Thanks Nancy,

What's good for the goose is also good for the gander.

Pay back to the republicans for past actions. They have lied to the American people to long. Now their big pitch is drill..drilll...drill. What a joke after eight years of fail policies, no energy plan, no education plan , no health plan. Now who cut the lights out on whom?

The House of Representives had a chance to go on record regarding drilling, and Nancy punted. Also, it's sure is pretty funny when I go to the pump to fill up. All of my companions at the pumps think it's a riot that gas prices are $4/gallon, and our Congress chooses to do nothing about it. We really think the price is gas is 'pretty funny'.

What I think is a riot is that you think that (a) repubs care, and (2) that drilling will solve anything.

Granted, doing something is better than nothing - however you need to wake up and smell the fumes.  Even if they started drilling tomorrow, the results won't be seen for 5-10 yrs.
If I hear another person say The Republicans did nothing about energy for years and years prior to the Democrats taking over I'm going to laugh. Republicans were only in power for eight years, and they needed a 60% voting majority to win over energy/drilling bills the Democrats had shot down numerous times. This is your mess, not the repubs, period! The Republicans DID try. Go check out congressional records instead of reading the NY Times and watching Olbermann. For the recors, I think Fow News is boring - read a book! Fine by me, though. Most of the dems constituents are poor and uneducated. Whatever, keep oil above $5.00, $6.00 for all I care. I can afford it. Bet most of you guys can't. Start thinking for yourselves for once. The haves will not suffer, only you will. As for that 10 yr. logic (You people are like robotic sheep) - if we had drilled in 93, guess what, supply would be up, oil prices would be down. Democrats OWN this mess!
Even if they started drilling tomorrow, the results won't be seen for 5-10 yrs.

Well, what you're saying is then is that this is as good as time as any to start.
