Hillary seeks delegate 'strategy' at convo

Below is the video of Hillary Clinton telling supporters at a gathering in California that she wants a "strategy" to have her delegates heard at the convention, as reported by Huffington Post and today ABC News. She said such a strategy would be cathartic, and would actually unify the party.

"Because I know from just what I'm hearing, that there's incredible pent up desire," Clinton said. "And I think that people want to feel like, 'OK, it's a catharsis, we're here, we did it, and then everybody get behind Sen. Obama.' That is what most people believe is the best way to go." She also said in the video that she was working out those details with the Obama campaign and the DNC, and that no decisions have been made.

From the ABC story: "Sources close to both Obama and Clinton told ABC News that the New York senator is highly unlikely to allow her name to be formally submitted for a roll-call vote on the convention floor. The Obama campaign wants to avoid such a vote, since it would underscore the party's splits and remind voters of the divisive primary campaign between the two Democrats. ...

"The refusal to publicly announce her intentions is widely seen as a bargaining chip Clinton is holding on to as party officials negotiate logistics regarding her convention speech and other activities, according to several Democrats who are closely involved in the matter."

A Democratic Party operative familiar with DNC rules points out that Clinton must approve, in writing, for her name to be placed in nomination. DNC chairman Howard Dean repeated this to NBC's Chuck Todd on MSNBC Tuesday. The rules provide that:

1. Presidential candidates may place their name in nomination by giving their written approval and submitting delegate petitions containing at least 300 but no more than 600 delegate signatures. A delegate may not sign more than one petition and no more than 50 petition signatures may come from any one state. This means that any possible presidential candidate who wishes to place their name in nomination must give their “written approval.” (Rule C.6.a-b) Candidates who are the Party’s presumptive nominee must still submit these delegate petitions.

2. Each presidential candidate who has requested to be nominated is entitled to a total of 20 minutes for nominating and seconding speeches, the time to run without interruption.  (Rule C.6.d)

3. After nominations for presidential candidates have closed, “the Convention shall proceed to a roll call vote by states on the selection of the presidential candidate.” A majority vote of the Convention’s overall total number of delegate votes is required to nominate. (Rule. C.7a.-b)

4. During the course of the roll call vote, delegates may vote for any presidential candidate regardless of whether or not the name of that candidate was placed in nomination. However, a vote cast for LaRouche or any other non-bona-fide Democrat is considered a vote for “Present.”
(Rule C.7.c)

The operative adds that balloting continues until a candidate reaches a majority of delegate votes. The last time the presidential nomination went to a second ballot was 1952.

And here we go again.  I do NOT trust the Clinton's.  At least weekly we have to put up with some headline or another about how they were wronged.

Fed Up in Missouri!

PS.  I wish I had their mirror.  Never to see the flaws, only the perfection that is Hillary.
Reality. And the Clintons refusal to accept it.
Hillary, it's not too late.  People are waking up to Obama.  He's not what they thought. Let's go for it.
So when she gave her "concession" speech and talked about doing everything in her power to make Obama the next President, this was her plan?
I cant believe Rachel was right.
And we don't like Obama, so there.
Yeah right.

And Florida and Michigan were symbolic votes too. Until the other candidates turned their backs on the barracuda that took a huge bite and whined, demanded, cried, and Martin Luther Kinged for those votes.

You really think that won't happen in Denver?

Really?

Then you aren't thinking. And you don't know Clinton. No longer the vulgar, shrieking kitchen sink frontal assault.

Now the subtle underminings, the manipulations, the passive-aggressive power plays, the growling attack dog barely held in check (Bill Clinton) by La Clinton is in play.
Please......Seriously? - Between this crap and Bill's ridiculous squirming when asked if Obama is ready to be President, it is clear that even after the FACT they have lost - they are what they have always been;

All about the Clintons - If they had any bone in their body that really wanted Obama to win, we would have heard about it by now. They want McCain to win so bad they can taste it.

They border on disgusting - and while I understand why Obama needs to kiss their *ss today, after he wins the Presidency I hope he puts both of these has-beens in their place - I am so sick of them I could just puke.

Sorry - did I just write that out loud?
You go Hillary.  No Hillary - No Barack.  Hopefully this won't happen, but just wait and see.  Too many of his supporters continue to be horrible towards her - pretty much dismantling the party in the process.

California is fed up with Barack Supporters.
How is having all these supporters march around Denver and then have her name entered in the nomination process going to unite the party? All it will do is make Obama look like an imposter. She's not fooling anyone...one last middle finger to Obama.I can hear her cackling now like the evil witch she is.
Don't know why Obama would owe anyone a catharsis, but if it will help Democrats realize a kumbaya moment, I'm all for it.  They seem so frenzied and breathless all the time.
This whole ordeal isnt even close to over.  I feel bad for Sen. Obama.  Its not like he personally did anything to the Clintons.  HE JUST WON.  WHAT A JERK. I cant believe he tried to win.  What was he thinking.  He was just supposed to roll over and die.  For all of you Clinton supporters that was sarcasim.
[Hillary] wants a "strategy" to have her delegates heard at the convention,

How about by an uncontrolled riot?
Anyone suprised?  I'm not!  After all, this is a Clinton.

Obama 08/12
Ha - McCain turns out to be a windbag.  Looks like Hilly is up to a coup de tat or at least position herself for 2012.  The real enemy may be within!
Hillary,go girl, Obama is dragging the party to a new low. Submit the necessary papers to be on the ballot at the convention. A choice is better than a coronation
Obama spporters, every notice how when someone, anyone, disagrees with your point of view, you turn to personal attacks, disparaging remarks, and child like tantrums?

Then you wonder why no one respects you.
This video is exactly why Hillary cannot be VP.
These Clinton supporters need to get over their sour grapes and let us get a Democrat elected.  I don't think I have ever in my life (60 yrs) seen such behavior during a presidential election before.  Somebody was going to loose, either candidate would have been historic.  How would the Hillary people feel if all the black voters decided that she had stolen the election and refused to support her?  Isn’t it more important to defeat the Republicans who have screwed up this country like no one has ever done before than to behave like children?  Why do they think having the first woman president is more important than the first black president?  Both are equally important.
Barack Obama picking Hillary as his vice presidential candidate may work to his advantage the same way McCain's insistence on Obama going to Iraq showed Obama to be liked by all the countries he attended.  Obama may be resisting the one thing he needs to increase his lead to a landslide instead of a tight, close race.
She wants two things - her debt paid off and the White House in 2012.

Don't trust a Clinton.
The Clintons will not go quietly into the night. They are not interested in party unity....just losing their power. Obama has the baton...let him run! BTW I think an effective campaign slogan for this election is:
McBush..for the war and against the veterans
Obama...for the vets and he voted against the war.
I love Democrats, "Everyone's a winner!"
Are you kidding me????  Oh right - this is HRC - guess not.

FYI, I am an Obama delegate from CA and have been dreading that she would try to pull something at the Convention in a couple weeks.  Guess my fears were spot on.
It's really sad, Obama has been respectful and cordial to Hillary and Bill and they still refuse to respect him. I honestly think if Obama was a young new white politician they would embrace him as the winner of the nomination. Until Anerica really looks at ourselves on equality we are no more than hypocrits.
As an Obama supporter, I feel left out! How can I contuinue to support a candidate who is so secretive about a VP pick!  This is exactly why people do not trust him now! Obama needs to take this election and run it with , show that he is a commmander in chief!! The tatics of I will show you if you show me , is so preschool!  get with it or loose my vote!
Hillary Clinton will NEVER give up - she will do whatever it takes if she thinks it will get her the presidency.  If Obama is smart he will not only not choose her for VP he will remind her that he won, put her in her place and walk away from her.  If not, the Clintons will walk all over him both at the convention and after.  He doesn't need them and they will never do anything to help him; they only have their own self-interest at heart.  They are pathetic.
Hillary, give it a rest! My God you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth! Don't you ever get tired of being a spoiler? I'll betcha if you had won the primary, Obama and his people would not being going through all of this drama! I am not saying you sholdn't speak at the convention but, please don't think for one moment you(or your husband) has been forgotten, it's just that your time has come and gone.  Now the best thing you can do for Sen. Obama is keep your word and support him. Say it with me now Hillary, "it's not about me" and my 18million(because Obama got just as many as you did!) "who still won"t support me by sending in just $1.00 to dig me out of that hole"

I smell a rat
Hillary's narcissism and her followers irrational histrionics are going to allow McCain and the rest of the neocon criminals to win this election.
If that happens, I will campaign against any Clinton in any election no matter the opponent.
Huh?  "That is what most people believe is the best way to go."?  What is that supposed to mean?  Does that mean that is what "she" believes?  I don't get it...  Seriously, someone help me out.  Is she sabotaging the convention?  Am I supposed to be reading something else into this?  I thought she was supposed to be campaigning for Obama?
Get.Over.It.
I have said it all along - the Clintons are like sharks in the water waiting to strike.  They want this election and if they have to destroy the Democratic party so be it - the party just got in their way.  Bill makes 10 million by talking and we are suppose to feel sorry for them because Hillary spent 10 million on her campaign and wants us to pay her back.  But that's how they think and there are plenty of fools who believe them and haven't read the Clinton biographies - which are frightening!
Hillary will only hurt herself if she does this.  She will not steal the nomination.  If she makes this convention a mess and he loses in November she will not have a chance in 2012.  People will and should be outraged that she put us through 4 more years of Republican rule, no health care plan and more tax cuts for the rich. Why? Her ego.  She will destroy her political career.
And they wonder why Obama does not want her as a running mate?
Clara, I think we need to do a road trip to Denver, and take Hillary down...  What a joke!

Oh, to own her mirror...  But, I'll take reality...

How many ways can you spell 'poor loser'...
Are you serious??  This reeks...
"Because I know from just what I'm hearing, that there's incredible pent up desire," Clinton said."

She's right about that.  They have a desire to roll on the floor kicking and screaming. I am so sick of this woman, her husband, and her cry baby supporters.  All you have to do is look at the PUMA posts and Hillary's behavior during the primaries to learn exactly where the McCain camp got their strategy.
Honestly, do people like Hillary for Prez above ever ask themselves how in the world she could win NOW.  Hillary for Prez tell me how many Obama supporters do you think would vote for her now?

As a woman I can not believe that women are behaving this way.  It's shameful they way they are acting.  My 8 and 3 year old have more self-control and maturity than than these people and when they don't get their way they don't kick and scream about it.

I really hope people in New York are paying attention because this woman does not deserve the honor of serving them.

ok...conspiracy theory here...

What's say the Clinton's make it so that they tear the Dem party to shreads just before the election and McCain wins.  We see another 4 years of the same crap and probably more heaped on us... then in 2012, Hillary and Bill ride up on their shining white horses, their swords drawn and shout "we're here to save you"... "see, if you had done this in '08, we wouldn't have to rescue you now!"

They are that twisted.. and I wouldn't put it past either of them...
Cool Runners:

No, they never notice. Oblivion is their friend.
The Clintons are the past.   Let's get on with it-keep hitting them, Barack.  I don't think the Republicans know that an intelligent, caring Democrat can "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee"!!!
make a decision Now! (Sent Wednesday, August 06, 2008 6:52 PM)

Obama supporter my Aunt Fannie! ha!  what a joke!

Obama is not hiding anything.  He's being smart and strategic.. you know, nothing like your guy McCain...
Why don't they just have a ceremony, give Hillary a certificate of participation and a sticker and call it good?
Proof please. Certainly it's not something you read around here or in the MSM. Obama has never strayed from the leftist agenda. McCain has strayed many times from the Rights agenda. Democrats see things in black and white. Republicans in shades of gray.  Tess Bryant, Mobile AL (Sent Wednesday, August 06, 2008 4:55 PM) (previous thread)

No, no, no, Tess.

You seem to be guilty of the logical fallacy of “hasty generalization.”

I can assure you that not all democrats see things in black and white, although I don’t presume to speak for republicans.  Personally, I see things in shades of deep green and blue (and thanks to James Taylor).  So there you go.  There’s your proof, and all-in-all, I’d have to say it’s more proof than you have.  And isn’t that just like a republican?

Oops.  Yet another hasty generalization.

And, oh, by the way, if Obama has “never” strayed from the leftist agenda, then how can he be a flip flopper?

How I LOVE logic games.

And thanks for playing.

The Clintons better watch it, once Obama wins their legacy is toast.  You'd think they'd realize their best hope right now is to work their butts of for him and try to redeem themselves somehow.  Bill's comments to ABC about whether Obama was ready to be president were disgusting, absolutely disgusting.  Are he and Hillary trying to compete with Lieberman for Most Vile Democrat?
Hillary please put your name in for nomination!! Obama is just not ready and will not win this election...not because he is too black but because he is too green. The only way he can win is if you are on the ticket...and if that isn't going to happen then put your name in and I am sure with everyone having second thoughts...you will win.
Obama told Petreus who is his boss unlike McCain who fauns over him.He was Trumanesque in his treatment of these military celebrities.
Why don't they just have a ceremony, give Hillary a certificate of participation and a sticker and call it good?
Richard, Washington State (Sent Wednesday, August 06, 2008 7:11 PM)

This is a classic!!   Thank you for making my night!!
Ok, All you Obama Supporters, Tell me WHY I have to fall into a line to praise and Kiss Obama's A$$ and vote for him.votes are earned not just freely given out whillie nillie. What Has Obama done for the Party? Nothing... WHat has he said he was going to do to help this country?? NOTHING.... He says all these things that sounds all nice and dandy , but in reality he WILL be another DO NOTHING PRESIDENT.
As of 08/06/2008 I still CANNOT bring MYSELF to VOTE for HIM nor the demorcratic party in this years election. I would rather see four more years of bush than a little known guy who gives great speaches.
Anyone in the democratic party that thinks a backroom plan was concieved and promised to OBAMA after Kerry's pathatic showing in 2004. that is why his acceptance speach is on the anniversary of MLK great speach not just a chance happening this was the plan since 2004, for Obama to get the nomination.
Just my 2 cents, about what this election is worth also
