From NBC's Jeannie Ohm
Despite some reports claiming that Vice President Dick Cheney would NOT appear at the Republican convention, Cheney's office just confirmed that he WILL attend and will speak.

Said Cheney's spokeswoman, Megan Mitchell: "The Vice President looks forward to participating in the Republican National Convention and continuing to work for the election of Sen. McCain and other Republican candidates in the coming months."

Mitchell says details are still being worked out regarding which night Cheney will speak.

*** UPDATE *** McCain's campaign has confirmed that Cheney will speak on the Monday of the convention, the same day that President Bush will speak.

"Obama needs to do this, Obama needs to do that"

This is coming from the same bunch of so-called pundits who did not even consider Obama to be a viable democratic nominee 12 months ago.  This election will show that talking heads are seriously behind the curve.
Well, isn't that special.
Cheney who ??
"So?"
Great - the biggest loser - speaks on behalf of the biggest losers.

Perfect!!

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
We also need Carl Rove and Bush to stand besides McCain at the GOP Convention.
Good judgment.
McCain : I Totally Agree Wth Bush On The Transcendent Issues

Good judgment.
And why not? Probably one of the greatest VPs ever.
Why shouldn't he? His approval rating is higher than Nazi Pelosi's Stalinist controlled congress. How are those book sales going Nazi? Finding out no one cares what you think?
"So?"

lol

You beat me to it! :)
Will McCain be on the same stage as him?  Will Bush speak?  Will this be in prime time?  Will he say where he has been hiding?  Will he say why he started the war in Iraq?  Will he say what his energy policy is?  Will he explain and show us what he thinks torture is?
Maybe he'll just come out and shotgun a few lucky conventioneers in the face - I'm sure they'd like it. This administration can do ANYTHING without upsetting the devout.

Or, maybe he'll announce a new Chicken Dick's Chicken Stick stand - nothing but the finest feet, feathers and beaks? Eat hearty, tools.
Yes, please,MacCain Campaign - give him a very high profile slot at the convention.

I think America needs to see that McCain and the current administration are absolutely 100% joined at the hip!
So far, that's the best news of the day.  It will remind Americans why they should NOT vote Republican. Bush, Cheney, McOld:  Maybe we can get a picture of all three together...hugging each other.
This should be good, I hope Cheney and Bush get primetime ; )
Said Cheney's spokeswoman, Megan Mitchell: "The Vice President looks forward to participating in the Republican National Convention and continuing to work for the election of Sen. McCain and other Republican candidates in the coming months."

Mitchell went on to say, "It's the only way we'll keep our sorry asses out of jail!"
I'll be sure to Tivo that too...

"The Dick" doesn't get out much so it should be very interesting reverse barometer to what really Johnny Boy has to look forward to....
Oyyyy....as a McCain supporter, this just has me shaking my head.  If Cheney wants to help, fine, maybe he can be an usher or something.  But having him speak at the convention is just going to provide fodder for future DNC ads.  But, I understand that it is a fine line to walk.
Great, the biggest liar and most dangerous man in America will speak along with the other lying and most dangerous men in America.
What a show that will be.

Such losers!!!!!!!!
Well now...if that doesn't draw thousands to the convention, I don't know what will.
Shouldn't his duracels be running out soon?
Darth Vader @ convention.
And when does congress pounce on this Iraq war thing???

Made up war is a CRIME. I cant believe they are getting away with murder
And the "Dark Lord" will proclaim the end of the Republic and the start of the "Imperial Empire"

Sure hope there's a Jedi or two out there somewhere!
Dick will surely embellish Bush/Cheney/Karl Rove agenda. This won't help the Duel personality swindler early Alzheimer’s candidate.

Cheney will probably get booed just like GW Bush got booed at the convention.

My nomination for this mornings best comedic post...

And why not? Probably one of the greatest VPs ever.

With Cheney, McCain is in good company...all liars...the whole bunch of them!
Our next Commander in Chief? Really?

It amazes me that the RNC would choose to have  Cheney, the "brain" behind Bush, speak at the convention.  His speech will be televised, and voters can be reminded of one of the most despicable, manipulative liars ever to be in office.

Time to clean house, folks!!!
Fantastic - this will just add the final nail in the McBush campaign's coffin. Be sure to give that criminal top billing. Hopefully, Georgie-Boy can stop by and they can all have a BIG GROUP HUG!!!
Well, at least no one that got impeached will be speaking at the Republican Convention. The Dems can't make the same claim.
That man should be in custody. Is there citizen's arrest in Minn? If so, go and haul him off for the rest of us, the country will be grateful!
Now we just need a slot for Karl Rove. Then all the liars will be in the same room at the same time!
the gift that keeps giving - look forward to Darth Vader's speech. Only thing we need them to do now is spit on babies and slap old ladies.
Oh yea, one more thought. Once the citizens haul ol Dick off to the pokey, maybe they can put him in one of those 3x3x6 crates they keep prisoners in Iraq in--not that his big belly will fit in there....I'd like him to get a taste of his own damned medicine!! He's just as much a terrorist as anyone they have locked up in Guantanamo or in Iraq!
Oh great. People like Karl Rove, and Cheney should cost McCain the presidency...
McBush = More of the same... We need to take this country in NEW direction !!!!!!!

Obama '08
Cheney coming out of his hole!  I think it's one of the seven signs.
This will show everyone that McCain is no different from Bush and Cheney. Bush and Cheney will go down in history as complete failures.
So much for the whole "the original Maverik" gig, huh McSame???

If you're such a Maverik, why invite the incarnation of thwt you supposedly "stand against" to speak at your convention??
This is great news for the Obama campaign.
Just what Republicans need...another Dick to speak on their behalf.  I'm totally for Obama, but the GOP seems like they're just throwing this thing.  Thanks guys!
No duck hunting allowed at the convention
No Newt? Limbaugh? Hannity? O'Reilly?

Who gets to write Cheney's talking points, I mean speech, I wonder.

Does anyone know if President Carter is speaking at the democratic convention in Denver? I saw him deliver his speech here at the 2004 Convention.

I just love that man.
bush/cheney/rove/mccant what a dream team, perfect poster boys for "whats wrong with America"
Well that should rile things up in the Twin Cities!
"Well, at least no one that got impeached will be speaking at the Republican Convention. The Dems can't make the same claim. "

Because the New American Fascists are OK with war crimes but not sex between consenting adults. Must make you real proud.
'...you're paying for their gas, food and lodging...'

From Salon.com:

'...Embedded reporters or Republican activists?

Members of Vets for Freedom have campaigned for John McCain and made anti-Obama ads, but while they're in Iraq, you're paying for their gas, food and lodging.

By Alex Koppelman

On its face, it seems like an idea any enterprising editor could have come up with: Gather a group of veterans of the Iraq war who also have journalism experience, including some highly decorated soldiers. Then send them back to the areas of Iraq in which they served, this time as reporters embedded with the troops still fighting there, and get their assessment of the security situation and whether the surge is working.

Someone has organized just such an expedition, and this Monday eight veterans left for Iraq. But the "Back to Iraq" trip wasn't put together by the Washington Post or the New York Times; it's the brainchild of Vets for Freedom (VFF), a pro-war group. VFF is nominally nonpartisan, but it has a remarkable number of ties -- some previously unreported -- to Republicans generally and John McCain's campaign specifically. And it has run attack ads against Barack Obama.

It's unremarkable to send reporters with thin journalistic credentials to Iraq, or to promise that journalists with a known political bias will report "objectively." Conservative and liberal publications send their preferred reporters to Iraq all the time, and their representatives come home, unsurprisingly, with differing conclusions. But what about sending political activists and GOP operatives to Iraq in the guise of journalists, with the cooperation of the U.S. military and on the taxpayers' dime, so that the activists can come home and proselytize for the Republican presidential candidate's position on the war?...

WOW !!
The DoD is being non-partisan, again
The Bush Administration has corrupted every branch of the government

My only hope is after his speech, those men in the nice suits with the shiney badges will be ready to take him to where he really belongs!  And pick up his partner in crime(Bush) on the way.  I have nothing but disdain for the Bush Cheney administration.  Time for change OBAMA 08!!
Here's a great TV image - McCain picks Jindal the exorcist for VP.  Cheney's head spins around and spews green vomit when they meet onstage.

My grand kids will be here. We're gonna pop some corn. they love Horror movies.
let's all be a little more careful here. history could end up being written by these "LOSERS". CHENEY has something pretty despicable up his sleeve. His October SURPRISE is going to throw most of you Hope Mongers for a LOOP. Shock and Awe coming to a living room near you October 4, 2008.
