NBC confirms: Edwards admits to affair

Posted: Friday, August 08, 2008 4:23 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Chuck Todd
John Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter in an interview at his home in Chapel Hill, N.C., a senior Edwards adviser who was briefed on the interview with ABC said.

Edwards talked a lot of how he told his wife, Elizabeth, and other members of his family in 2006. Edwards said the affair ended before he announced for president.

Edwards, according to the source, said he's not aware of any financial transactions to Hunter;

He also talked about how he could reach a point in his life where something like this could even happen -- that he was perhaps blinded by being a celebrity.

Edwards denied being the father of Hunter's child, which was born in Feb. 2008 with no name on the child's birth certificate. Edwards aides Andrew Young -- also married with children -- had admitted to being the child's father. But Young has not commented since the Edwards revelation.

Edwards said he went to the Beverly Hilton, where the National Enquirer claims to have photographed him, to meet not with Hunter, but Bob McGovern, a friend of Hunter's, the source said, adding that this was part of Edwards' effort to keep the affair secret.

As far as the Democratic convention, Edwards doesn't know if he's going to go, the source said, adding, he hasn't been asked.

Ir's pity, John Edwards is a good family man. I hope the media leaves hi family alone, esecially national enquirer. Why do these men put it all on the line? Is raw sex the most important thing to men?
"As far as the Democratic convention, Edwards doesn't know if he's going to go, the source said, adding, he hasn't been asked."

There was a deal between Edwards and Obama earlier this year: Edwards to endore Obama and he would get a prime time speaking slot in Denver.

Guess that deal is over now with this revelation.
While his sex life is private, when he took a public role, he knew the scrutiny to come.  He then chose to lie and deny the truth.  He ran in the primary, knowing this could come out and hurt the party.  I'm sickened.
Now that's laughable! "NBC Confirms"
Was NBC there or was your confirmation from Edwards admitting it? NBC and the rest of the MSM purposely tried to hide the story because you're in the tank for the Democrats.
Having thought about this for thirty minutes, I still think the guy would be one hell of a VP.  Not to minimize the misstep, but...

(MI Chick--okay, you're right.)
Supported john Edwards, love his wife Elizabeth
she is a smart and wonderful woman, hope all of this
blows over fast for her sake and the sake of thier children.  It always amazes me when men just forget all about what they have promised, when a whore is willing to just lay down for a married man. I sure did think a lot of him at one time.  No more.

Obama/Biden

Scumbag!!
On a serious note, one of the issues facing anyone battling cancer is the possible strain that it places on family relationships and the relationship between husband and wife.

In medical malpractice, the legal term is "Loss of Consortium" and it basically claims that an illness has disrupted the normal relationship between husband and wife.  It's not inconceivable that this happened between John and Elizabeth Edwards and led to whatever happened between John Edwards and Rielle Hunter.

It doesn't make it any better but the high and mighty out there among you might consider backing off because it could very easily be you sometime down the road.
NBC confirms it? Does NBC also now confirm we landed on the moon?

Little late to the party guys.
Maybe he could win back our hearts and prove his patriotism by outing a covert CIA agent? Or lie in a State of the Union Address? Help kill nuns in El Salvador? Traffic cocaine with Manual Noriega?

One thing is for sure - no one who "Admits" anything could ever win a spot in the GOP.
Sadly, it seems to me he's still lying by not admitting to fathering this child that he was photographed holding.   Such is the hazard of being a middle aged man under stress and in need of more TLC than his very sick wife could provide.  <sigh>
Obama better not pick Hillary for VP.  I'm sick of hearing about affairs.
Yo, First Read!

How many posts do we need about this?

This is bigger news than John McCain LYING in the public square daily? The Republican candidate for Commander in Chief is a serial liar! Where is the outrage?

I hate to say this First Read, but your slip is showing - AGAIN!

Is the next post going to be CBS news confirms that NBC news confirmed that ABC news reported that John Edwards had an affair? Have you no shame?

He [Edwards] also talked about how he could reach a point in his life where something like this could even happen -- that he was perhaps blinded by being a celebrity.

BINGO!! Democratic politicians think they are celebrities. Just like Britney, and Paris, and Barack.
They are all just full of themselves. This leads them to think they are privilaged, followed by entitled. The perfect primodial stew to being a Liberal.

how many hours are going to be wasted on this trash by the media, if you want to talk about a tragedy that has relevance talk about how the media refuses to call out mccain when he lies, or the fact his military record is a joke, or maybe how he cheated on his spouse, I mean jeeeeez people mccain is a man without any integrity that is owned by the corporate powers that be and is a bald face liar, you guys in the press seem to be no better
