Before you go defending tabloids (a very shameful position to ever make), remember that they just happened to catch on to the affair, and then used completely fabricated "evidence" to support it. The tabloid did more harm than good.

While you’re doing your reporting on John Edwards and his admission that he had an affair and his acknowledgment of his own Narcissism:  Keep in mind that most politicians are Narcissists and Anti-Social Personalities.  Those who are not have features of both, which is significantly different than having one or both of those Personality Disorders.  Many journalists have asked the question “what motivated him to do this and believe that he could keep it quiet?”  He answered that when he said he was Narcissistic and became increasingly egocentric!  Narcissism is ego run amuck, if you will.  These features and Disorders are characterized by Poor Impulse Control.

   The confidence that the media says voters and they (Media) want to see a candidate show are likely some of the “over-controlled” features of Narcissism and Anti-Social Personalities presenting itself.  Keep in mind that your profession is full of people with the same features and Disorders, they’re on TV everyday and night.  If you’re going to use this (Edwards statements/disclosure) in your judgment and “analysis” of the current candidates for President, be fair and include that John McCain has Severe, Chronic, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder co-occurring with Narcissistic and Anti-Social features or Disorders.  As your consultants will no doubt tell you, frequent Mood changes and rapid escalation from anger to Rage and Poor Impulse Control are some indicators of the above Disorders.  Making John McCain very dangerous and even more so if he has the power of the presidency!!  By the way; why is it that no one discusses McCain’s PTSD?  I’m sure you’ll try to link this to Barack Obama and not to discuss reports of John McCain's reported affair.

   There are glaring examples of Narcissistic and Anti-Social Personality Disorders; the President, Vice President and many in the administration.  You know, the people the “News Media” were and are afraid to investigate and report honestly on.  The President and Administration that sent us to Iraq, is responsible for killing thousands for power and money, violated the civil rights of our citizens and others, and continues to commit crimes, if not Treason!  

   And by the way, human beings do things like have affairs, make mistakes and do many things that are considered wrong or foolish.  Anyone in your office have these features, become enraged beyond what one would expect of the average person or appear to act as if they have no regard for others and/or omnipotent?
   Oh, don’t forget about the “Political Pundents/Pundgents” your network has on its “shows” as analysts and/or experts!

I can't help but agree with BL in Cincinnati...  If America, and the media, is so appauled with this truth, why is John McCain, your republican candidate being handled with kid gloves?  He did far worse than a 'short term' affair, (and he had several)...  He dumped a disabled wife for the rich rodeo queen.

What business is it of anyone? Are you who think John Edwards is guilty as sin holier than he? There is no perfect individual. His wife seemingly has forgiven him. He is not the presidential nominee.

It is disgusting how the media handles this kind of story.  They pretend to act so shocked while salivating over every juicy detail and carrying on over what all this really means.  The main thing it means is that Edwards wasn't smart enough to keep his pants zipped.  Edwards is not the first politician to have an affair and lie about it and get caught.  Unfortunately, he won't be the last.

As Jesus said, "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone."

The only that counts is character. Edwards has none. He lied to the American people as well as his wife.

McCain has always admitted to being a jerk in his first marriage...he never lied to the American people like clinton and edwards.

The reason I hold this belief is because our society seems to believe that how people conduct there personal lives has everything to do with the way they conduct their work ethic. Edwards made a mistake, and he has admitted his mistake. Instead of everyone judging Edwards on this action alone, we should consider what he has accomplished during his career.

The problem with our society is that we are quick to judge people on their flaws instead of their accomplishments.

Let’s get back to tracking McCain’s dumping of wife #1 in favor of a rich wife #2, shall we? More pertinent as a character indicator because he’s the current wannabe Republic candidate.

I am outraged! This is unheard of that a man in political life would have an affair with another woman. It really reflects badly on the Democrats, especially since John McCain has such a spotless record as a faithful husband and father. Well, except for abandoning his faithful wife that had waited for his all the time he was building what passes for his resume for the presidency, to marry a huge bank account wrapped around one of a series of blond chippies in his stable.

What the media is doing is a far greater sin than what John Edwards did. With our world collapsing, the major news organizations chase stories like this. What does it say about our country?

People are losing their homes and their jobs in this country. If his wife can deal with it, then we should too.

I find it disgusting that the so called “best political team on televison” has sunk so low. Report it and move on. What makes American so gleeful at tearing someone down with no regard for the children of this family….and now a Special Investigation Unit…pathetic.

I agree completely with Bob from Chicago regarding David Gregory. He's one of those television personalities who wreaks of insincerity, outrageous pomposity and has an insatiable ego.
Having said that, has anyone a list of politicians and mafioso's who have never been unfaithful. That list would be in Guiness Book of World Records for being the shorted list in history.

Yes BL from Cincinnati, that's for sure.  McCain's skirts aren't clean either.  He is, in fact, a repeat offender and did not remain with his wife and family.
This is a really sad situation for this family.  This is their own private business, but to the media, it's just a headline.  These are real people, not just stories.  I'm sure they're grieving and embarrassed, humiliated, etc.  Leave it alone now.

HERE'S ELIZABETH EDWARDS DIRECT RESPONSE AND I HOPE WE ALL WILL RESPECT HER WISHES AND HER FAMILY AS WELL

Our family has been through a lot. Some caused by nature, some caused by human weakness, and some – most recently – caused by the desire for sensationalism and profit without any regard for the human consequences.  None of these has been easy.  But we have stood with one another through them all.  Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him.  

John made a terrible mistake in 2006.  The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007.  This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well.  Because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private.  

The pain of the long journey since 2006 was about to be renewed.  

John has spoken in a long on-camera interview I hope you watch. Admitting one’s mistakes is a hard thing for anyone to do, and I am proud of the courage John showed by his honesty in the face of shame.  The toll on our family of news helicopters over our house and reporters in our driveway is yet unknown.  But now the truth is out, and the repair work that began in 2006 will continue.  I ask that the public, who expressed concern about the harm John’s conduct has done to us, think also about the real harm that the present voyeurism does and give me and my family the privacy we need at this time.

Add another shady character to the list of Barack's personal buddies.

Please, You must  bring in the most honorable "Jessie Jackson" to resolve this dilemma and give total absolution and moral courage to these poor unfortunates, who were led astray by a  common trollop, He be da one ... Shame,Yes, it can(does) happen to some politicians.
