From NBC's Mark Murray
The Obama and Clinton camps have agreed to have Hillary Clinton's name placed in nomination for the roll-call vote at the Democratic convention, according to a source familiar with the discussions.

The source adds that the mechanics of this are still being worked out, but it's "likely" that Clinton will release her delegates to vote for Obama after her name is submitted. Clinton -- who is a superdelegate -- will cast her delegate vote for Obama.

The source also notes that, contrary to previous speculation, these Clinton-Obama discussions haven't been acrimonious at all. This was a joint decision, "and both sides were open to this, and pleased with the outcome."

This news was first reported by the Atlantic's Marc Ambinder.

*** UPDATE *** Here's the statement announcing this from the Obama and Clinton press offices: "Since June, Senators Obama and Clinton have been working together to ensure a Democratic victory this November. They are both committed to winning back the White House and to to ensuring that the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver. To honor and celebrate these voices and votes, both Senator Obama's and Senator Clinton's names will be placed in nomination."

"'I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton's historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,' said Senator Barack Obama."

"Senator Obama’s campaign encouraged Senator Clinton's name to be placed in nomination as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests."

"'With every voice heard and the Party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama President of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again,' said Senator Hillary Clinton."

"Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are looking forward to a convention unified behind Barack Obama as the Party’s nominee and to victory this fall for America."

Obama is always gracious and puts a happy face on all things Clinton.  But, Hillary is the Head/Queen of PUMA.  if she were truly behind her party's nominee, she could stop all of the BS by these cranky pants.  She needs to make a strong statement that she does NOT agree with these people and demand that they stop using her name.  State that while she appreciated every vote she got, that she will NOT have her name put in nomination at the convention.  It's all very simple and if she were really living up to her pledge to do all she can, then she could do these little things and end all the BS.
Can there be peace on earth and good will toward all men and women now?

Here's hoping.

REALLY? That's interesting. But does America want her to be VIce President? Find out at http://www.votenic.com
America's one and only online 2008 Presidential Election Weekly Poll.
You won't believe these results!
This makes me sick.  I am a Republican for Obama but I have to tell you that the democrats better get their house in order.  What good can possibly come of this.  Will the Hillary supporters that are anti-Obama really come to terms with his candidacy through this "catharsis"!  I think not....
This is just disgusting!
Why does Obama even bother to show up in Denver?  He can appear in a 3 minute video and let the Clintons have all 4 days to themselves.  I am VERY disappointed and disillusioned with him.
Well it's about time !  I wonder if those supers and DNC are re-thinking their error ?????  Someone had to out pressure on obama to do it. This could be a very suprising convention ! Funny if Hillary comes away with the nomination ! What true justice that would be !
I hope she's happy now and done with this joke! All her supporters better shut up now.

Very gracious of you Senator Obama!
ugh, whatever.
SPLIT!!!
Please LAWD...make her go away!! Oh yeah LAWD, can you take her PUMAS and SLICK, too.
And this is why I'm voting for McCain.

Hillary/12
Good news.

To Clinton supporters:  There are many great women out there who will in the near future be great presidents.  Hillary Clinton is simply not one of them.
How did First Read let this slip by?

“John McCain has an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal today, and the very first sentence reads, “For anyone who thought that stark international aggression was a thing of the past, the last week must have come as a startling wake-up call. . . “In the 21st century,” McCain said, “nations don’t invade other nations.”

Read all about it here:

‘Nations don’t invade other nations’ (some restrictions may apply)http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/16549.html#more-16549

Another downside of invading Iraq perhaps? Other countries feel emboldened to do the same?

Wanna discuss this First Read?
I wonder if any Clinton supporters now are praying for rain, too?

Just a joke ;)

In all seriousness, if she does release her delegates (or better yet, ask to have her name withdrawn after its submitted) it could go a long way toward helping some people rally around the party ticket.
previous post:
"That's ignorant, Clara,
Abortion is not a church issue. It is an issue of taking a human life. Gay marriage is a church issue, not a state issue. Churches should decide whom they will marry, the state should not decide who can marry. The state oversteps its authority on that one. On abortion, however, it is a legitimate discussion for the state to conduct. If abortion is murder, then it must not be permitted. If it is not, then it must not necessarily be allowed, but could be. My opinion is that it is the taking of a human life, therefore the government does have authority to do all they can to prevent it."   Philip, Wisconsin (Sent Thursday, August 14, 2008 10:28 AM)

So does that mean you are “pro Death”?  I mean a baseless war and the death penalty, aren’t those also ‘murder’?  State sanctioned, government funded?  Is a miscarriage Involuntary Manslaughter?  And pray tell, who do we get to administer justice?

Why don't we just leave it to G-d, I believe that's her job.
Hillary is a very sad women.  I feel sorry for her.
YES!!
Will she get the VP spot?
Obama better watch out. The deal isn't done until the deal is done. Obama better watch this woman, she'll mess him up if he don't pay attention. I got no respect of people that support this woman. No respect at all! You all better get with the program, the movement, the Barack!
and here we go again, with the daily Clinton 'chain yank'.

I've decided that this will be my last post on any more of the Clinton drama, it has become as big a wedge issue for me as abortion.

I don't wish her ill.  I just wish she would go away.

PS.  And I've decided I am just not going to be able to send her any money for her debt that she racked up long after the race was over.  I just can't seem to write that check.  too bad those 18MM voters can't seem to do it either.
Obama definitely has not kissed Hillary's posterior enough.
*eye rolls* whatever...Clinton's have managed to manuever themselves into a postition of no longer mattering in the big picture.  Hopefully they will just dry up and blow away.
positive. positive. must think positive.
Well - this is pretty disgusting to me. Hillary get over it - you lost fair and square. I am a 59 year old white woman - why I have to say that each time it is a Hillary comment is because she does not have all the support from that camp. Most of my friends did not vote for her too. What a waste of time, money and effort - to prove nothing. If you can't control your campaign and advisers how can you control the country? That goes for McCain too.
Such unity.  Roll calls are not unusual. What is unusual is that some kooks think Hillary is a Wonder Woman.

Nobody but Obama
Whatever.
And the beat goes on!!!!!!!

Obama 08/12
Is Clinton living in hope. I HOPE not.
Well........isn't that CATHARTIC.  Perhaps the glacial chill between the two will be more cath and less arctic.
Watching the Democratic Convention will be more fun then watching the World Wrestling Federation. Sure, the intelligence of the WWF won't be on display, but still it will be fun to watch.
Well I certainly hope this decision mends the feelings some of Clinton supporters.  And after this they SHOULD throw their votes behind Obama.  She has conceded Senator Obama's win of delegate votes.  Now let's get the show on the road, people.  Get over it Clinton voters.  Life goes on!
I wonder if there'll be a ot of booing when Hil's name is submitted for nomination? I really think all this is WAY too much, WAY out of line.  But for Party unity, if I wre a delegate, I'd go through these silly motions quietly in order to do the REAL business; nominating the winner of the primaries and future winner of the General, Obama.
The begining of the end for obama !  We Hillary supporters, this is our chance ! We must keep  petitioning  the DNC and superdelegates to change their vote to Hillary. If Stick to our plan of backing McCain !
Much to my own surprise, I actually think this is a good idea.  Hillary's supporters will get the respect they feel they need, and then they can follow Clinton's lead in supporting Obama when she votes for him as a Superdelegate.

I have a feeling this convention is going to be one for the history books.
I'm not happy about this but if this is what it takes to make the Clintons go away, I'll hold my nose.
Fine. PUMAS, you got what you wanted now go away!

Obama/Biden '08 and '12
Finally some great news ! Let hope by the end of the convention she is the Nominee !
Watch your back, pal...watch your back.......
OMFG!!!!

This is NOT helpful!! If Hillary's goal was to "UNITE" for a win in the fall; this "staged" roll-call does the opposite.

It will only inflame her die-hards, who (unjustly) think she was treated unfairly.

Maybe she should've ran as a republican; she seems to favor their rules, and Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were on her side!
This is insane.  It will split the party and lose the Presidency to McCain!  Only Hillary would be so self-centered to do this.  She's still hanging on to the idea that she deserves to be the nominee.  Where is the much trumpeted party unity?  Why are the party leaders allowing this to happen?
GO HIllary !!!!!  Yes ! Another tie breaker ! Maybe  the supers will wise up and smell the loser.
I am disappointed that the Obama camp would agree to  such a outragous thing. This is such a petty power grab by the Clinton camp and their very small fringe groups. The convention now will be more like a three ring circus than a strategic agenda setting event for change for the american people. I guess I won't tune in until Thursday night when he accepts his earned nomination.
What a sore looser!  No respect for the Clintons left. Hillary and Bill should know better. What a great example for the young people.
So the whiny Clintons and their evil minions get their way.  Hillary had just better release her delegates immediately, and not continue to screw up Barack's chance to win this election! One thing is for sure- be it 2012, 2016 or 2050, I'll never vote for another Clinton!
And The Point being?????

I hear Russian troops are leaving Georgia. Must be because McShame threatened them. He is so tough.

He is like Mermaid man (McShame) and Barnacle Boy(LIEBERMAN). The Old farts from sponge bob

Are they SURE she is going to vote for him and release her delegates to him? Or is there going to be a suprise awaiting the Dems at the convention? She hasn't given up yet...
And why are they giving her so much time at the convention?
The first positive news on the Clin/Obama front for the Obama folks sine this thing blew up. I'm not sure how many of Hillary's delegates will actually follow the plan, however.

http://www.political-buzz.com/
Smart move Obama. Give the convention hall to Hillary and her drama.
Just show up at the stadium to accept the nomination.
The source also notes that, contrary to previous speculation, these Clinton-Obama discussions haven't been acrimonious at all. This was a joint decision, "and both sides were open to this, and pleased with the outcome."
******************************************************
GASP! What will you talk about now? I'm sure you can create more drama between them out of thin air before the conclusion of the convention. I guess it's either that or dead air time on the 'ol MSNBC.
