HRC's name to be placed in nomination

From NBC's Mark Murray
The Obama and Clinton camps have agreed to have Hillary Clinton's name placed in nomination for the roll-call vote at the Democratic convention, according to a source familiar with the discussions.

The source adds that the mechanics of this are still being worked out, but it's "likely" that Clinton will release her delegates to vote for Obama after her name is submitted. Clinton -- who is a superdelegate -- will cast her delegate vote for Obama.

The source also notes that, contrary to previous speculation, these Clinton-Obama discussions haven't been acrimonious at all. This was a joint decision, "and both sides were open to this, and pleased with the outcome."

This news was first reported by the Atlantic's Marc Ambinder.

*** UPDATE *** Here's the statement announcing this from the Obama and Clinton press offices: "Since June, Senators Obama and Clinton have been working together to ensure a Democratic victory this November. They are both committed to winning back the White House and to to ensuring that the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver. To honor and celebrate these voices and votes, both Senator Obama's and Senator Clinton's names will be placed in nomination."

"'I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton's historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,' said Senator Barack Obama."

"Senator Obama’s campaign encouraged Senator Clinton's name to be placed in nomination as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests."

"'With every voice heard and the Party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama President of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again,' said Senator Hillary Clinton."

"Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are looking forward to a convention unified behind Barack Obama as the Party’s nominee and to victory this fall for America."

Hillary Clinton is on a huge ego trip... Oh well, whatever it takes to make her finaly playing nice with others.  And another thing.  Any Clinton supporters who are soooooo upset with Obama for winning that they will stay home or vote McCain should study McCain's treatment of women to include his first wife and abandoned first family.  Also check out the recent events and how he almost sent us back into a cold war by blabbing his ill informed mouth. McCain is like a kid who stole dad's car and is driving it down the highway.  The only thing is, he doesn't know how to drive.  His wreckless comments and policies will get more Americans killed.  I urge you to vote with your brain and not your heart this season.
GO HIllary !!!!!  Yes ! Another tie breaker ! Maybe  the supers will wise up and smell the loser.

Only if Bill shows up.
I am so sick of the Clintons…it always has been and always will be about them. Hillary doesn't care about "party unity," she doesn't care about "healing," she just cares about herself, her own agenda, and nevermind what's best for the democratic party or the country. I've always said her strategy was two-fold - if she can't win the nomination (which she won't), then do enough damage to the unity of the democratic party to try to get McCain elected in November - this way she can run for president in another 4 years instead of 8. Nevermind that if McCain is elected, there may not be much left of this country if we have to suffer through four more years of the same mess we're in now. I can tell you one thing, I will NEVER vote for Hillary after the way she's been acting, whether she tries to run in 4 years, 8 years, or 12 years when she's pushing 80 or so….
Stupid.

The reason I'm staying an idependent and not joining the Democratic Party is because of this childish crap from these Hillary supporters. Get a life, and vote Obama. She lost.
Catharsis is done; now political paranoia sets it. It's so good  that in the talks Hilliary must release her delegates. She does what she has to do. Obama does what he has to do. Go haters. Unity is the key.

Nobody but Obama

Good move - maybe they should also point out that John McCain RECEIVES Social Security, even though he and his wife are very WEALTHY. Now that's the real disgrace.
Nashville_fan (Sent Thursday, August 14, 2008 9:29 AM

Please explain Nashville Fan why that's a disgrace?  He paid his money into it.  Why shouldn't he have his money?  Again, I ask, too, when did it become a crime in this country to be wealthy?  Do I wish I was?  Yes.  But, why do you, Nashville Fan, try to denigrate those who do?

The answer is simple. Your Duel Personality early Alzheimer’s (possibly undiagnosed) candidate is a disgrace. Although he did pay his money into it; if he puts my hard earned money on the stock market and it should flounder; I and many others may not have other assets to rely on.
You are not aware of the double talk coming from your Duel Personality early Alzheimer’s (possibly undiagnosed) candidate. That’s something you can’t speculate, obamaramaramadingdong.

Nobody but Obama

Nobody but Obama

I think this is a mistake. This is just one more example in a long string of examples of HRC's willingness to destroy party unity for sake of her own political ambitions.
Obama has been so gracious. He's heaped HIGH praise on Hillary and her accomplishments. He's led the charge in paying off her campaign debt. Now, on what should be HIS night, he's allowing a trip down memory lane for Hillary. I wonder if even this gesture will be enough for Hillary supporters to re-unify with the Democratic Party?

Now this should put an end to the media trying to devide the dems for ratings. Hillary and Bill will be on 2 out of the 4 nights not bad for comming in 2nd in the primaries! Hopeful those who supported to Clintons will do the right thing and now unite with Obama's team so we can win in Nov!

Obama/Hagel 08 Real Unity
This is the payback Obama gets for asking his supporters to help pay back her huge debt, which she got HERSELF into??????

All of you "I'm voting for McCain because Hillary lost" people: WAKE UP! If she couldn't even run her campaign, how could she run this country??????

The Clinon's will do/say ANYTHING to get what they want; I have lost ALL respect for Bill Clinton.......

(TOO FUNNY!) RE; He is like Mermaid man (McShame) and Barnacle Boy(LIEBERMAN). The Old farts from sponge bob

You know what really surprises me?  Is that all of these who claim to be Hillary supports are actually willing to vote for McCain if Hillary is not the nominee.  And McCain's policies are so anti-Hillary's.  This tells me loudly that there are those who are voting only for the "person" rather than policies that will improve their lot in life.  This is incredible!  Look at McCain's policies and anti-women positions for heaven sake's.  Is it really worth it?
So if she thinks she is going to ruin the chances of a Democrat in the White House so she can run in 2012 and all will be forgotten and every Democrat will rally behind her, WE will remember her shenanigans.

I wonder what would happen if the roles were reversed and Obama was the one acting like she is? Would she beg her donors to pay off his debt? Would she allow his name to be on nomination?

Maybe, instead of stirring the pot FR, you can actually explain what this means. It's not unusual but you all are making it out that she is going to steal the nomination from him or divide the party during the convention.

Once again, the spotlight is being shifted from Obama to her. It's all about her.

I need to add her to the list of people who are pissing me off today...Oh wait, she's been on it for a while.
Wow I can't believe someone put pressure on the MESSIAH ! I wonder who or what made them make do it ?
This convention may be just like in 72 with McGovern.
Another split decision, what will happen riots, more pissed off Clinton supporters ? McCain getting a sure win in Nov? Wow this is going to be good. Now watch all those millions of Hillary supporters. They will be fired up ! I guess we do carry some weight, with all the phone calls emails, and letters to the DNC !
To Hillary supporters who genuinely see this as a chance, do you think the image of your candidate steasling the nomination is going to help her win the General Election? Do you really want to cost the Democratic Party the election, because lets get this straight now, Hillary Clinton simply cannot win the 2008 Presidential election. If you wanna hold fire and wait till 2012 fine. But I think the real message should be that Hillary's chance has gone.
This is not about Obama, its about Hillary...Her pride. Maybe it will help her supporters come around to the reality that Obama will be the next President, maybe not. No one submitted their name when Bill was nominated, I am a bit surprised that Hillary is submitting her name.  She has pushed the envelop about as far as she can and not look...like damaged goods.
And this is why I'm voting for McCain.

Hillary/12
^^^^^
And this is why many former Hillary supporters understand why people think some of us are acting like spoiled brats.  Cut off your nose...
clinton can still win this thing, I will never vote for obama, i cant believe so many are prepared to buy that bill of goods and i take comfort in the fact that the obamaniacs will be sorely dissapointed, one way or another.
I WILL NOT watch the Democratic Convention on either Tuesday or Wednesday.  I am SICK TO DEATH of the Clinton's.  They are SO FULL OF THEMSELVES.  IT IS ALL ABOUT THE THEM.  They are such POOR LOSERS!!!!!

I will NEVER AGAIN even CONSIDER Voting for a Clinton !!!
