McCain raises $27 million in July

Posted: Friday, August 15, 2008 9:46 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
The McCain campaign announced it raised a campaign record $27 million in July, campaign manager Rick Davis said on a conference call with reporters. While the figure is a campaign record, it is less than half of Obama's biggest one-month haul -- $55 million in February of this year, which helped finance his primary battle with Hillary Clinton.

In June, Obama raised $52 million. But Obama has had to raise more, in part, because the Democratic National Committee had been far outraised by the Republican National Committee.

The McCain campaign added that it had $21.4 million cash on hand through the end of July.

The RNC raised an $26 million in July and has has $75 million cash on hand for a combined $96.4 million cash on hand, Davis said.

Through the end of June, Obama had $71.7 million cash on hand, and the DNC reported just $4.5 million on hand for a combined $76.2 million, according to federal campaign finance data.

Davis also claimed 600,000 donors and 1.5 million total donors combined with the RNC. The Obama campaign currently celebrates more than two million donors with a congratulatory screen on its campaign Web site.

Because the McCain campaign has opted to take public funds, it will have to spend its cash on hand by Aug. 31.

So, I think we'll see a blitzkrieg of negative attack ads from the McCain campaign itself through the end of August and then a pull back once he accepts public funding.  The attacks will shift to the responsibility of the RNC and 527's.  But I think the blitzkrieg of ads from Obama will come beginning in September but the positive, informative tone will continue- his campaign will be able to drown out the opposition's ads in sheer volume.
The McCain campaign will spend the remaining cash on hand   to continue to release negative ads against Senator Obama. Their money would have been better spent to buy Senator McCain a few more pairs of hand made Italian shoes at five hundred and twenty dollars a pair. By the way Chuck, where is Chris Matthews? Is he on vaction, ill, was his contract at MSNBC not renewed, inquiring minds want to know.
Last nights "Hardball" was GREAT!  What a sad...Sad...SAD display for the "PUMAS"

I was embarassed for them.  $50,000 in contributions....ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS...Thank you for FINALLY bring on those CRAZIES!  They could not even make any sense.....
And where did that money come from, I wonder?

And this online 2008 Presidential Election Weekly Poll says it all!
