WV governor predicts Kaine as VP

Despite all the talk of Biden for VP, West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin (D) said he predicts that Gov. Tim Kaine (D-VA) will be Obama's No. 2.

Speaking to a reporter from WSAZ in Charleston, W.V., Manchin made the case for his "dear friend."

"I am predicting that Tim Kaine will be the VP pick, and I think that this country will be blessed if that happens, and I know Barack will have a strong, strong ticket," he said. "Tim speaks very eloquently about the balance that's needed for energy and the compassion for people and the things that we believe in. It just resonates."

Manchin said he had just spoken to Kaine on the phone and that the Virginia governor still didn't know who the VP will be.

"Fingers are crossed," Manchin said. "He don't know. We just talked, he says, 'To be honest with you, Joe, I don't know.'"

The best choice for Obama for vice president is Bill clinton. He is the ONLY one who can retrieve his wifes lost votes, would not lose any current Obama supporters, and THEN, bring in the plethora that is his personal supporters. And all that without all the political baggage of his wife.
And yes it is legal. There is absolutly NOTHING in the constitution that prevents someone from being vice president prior to, or after the fact of, an 8 year presidential term.

1 Except for those of us who are following the election closely, is he really that well-known to the rest of the US?

I am very impressed with Gov. Kaine. The interview with Kaine on MTP this past Sunday was excellent. I like both Biden and Kaine. Either one will be a very good choice for VP. I am hoping that once the announcement is made that the Obama campaign will kick it into high gear!

Obama needs to hit McCain everyday and there is nobody better than Joe Biden. I have been sitting on the fence undecided but I can't take anymore of the Bush/Rove like tactics. If Obama does not fight back he will end up like Dukakis and Kerry. This country cant afford this. We just cant take 4 more years of this governing. The more I watch and listen to McCain the more scary this guy seems. I voted for Hillary in the primary and was willing to give McCain a look. I did, and I do not like what I am seeing!!

I don't care who Senator Obama's VP is we all need to do whatever we can to prevent McCain from becoming president. He has a lust for war and he will reinstate the draft. Some of his own republican colleagues have said that he is a hotheaded man and you don't want him to have his finger on 'the button'. America needs a leader that can help us move in a forward direction. John McCain will take us back to the cold war era. I don't care how you feel about Senator Obama, you have no excuse to vote for John McCain. This election is not about them. It is about us and america. I don't want our children drafted into wars they don't believe in and should not be fighting. How can our economy grown any stronger by allowing the country to be bilked by the military contractors who profit from the 'business of wars' We still don't know the facts of how much money is unaccounted for, services never provided etc. for all of the money we have borrowed from China today. Forget about these men and look at what they would do. Senator Obama is not perfect but he offers some hope... McCain offers more death...debt... more fear based policies...

Craig, who was on McOlderthanDIRT's campaign until he was busted in a Minneapolis airport restroom stated that he is quite excited about being narrowed down.

He said he can offer a "wide stance" of the views.

Obama will pick Evan Bayh. He has both executive and foreign policy cred, and has cross over appeal to moderate republicans and conservative dems. Plus, he won't upstage Obama and will work diligently in the background to make the case for an Obama presidency.
