Obama TV ad hits McCain on his homes

In an immediately quick turnaround, the Obama camp is already up with a TV ad hitting McCain for his admission that he doesn't know how many homes he and wife Cindy own. (Hat tip: Ambinder and Ben Smith.)

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers has emailed this response to the coordinated Dem attack on McCain's homes: “Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people 'cling' to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?"

And yet, McCain leads in the polls. See Democrats, Americans know a real American when they see one, and McCain is a real American. He's not a pompous bag of wind like Obama who is engrossed and in love with himself when he looks in the mirror. McCain doesn't fly around the world and bad mouth his country like Obama does. McCain is proud of his country. Obama is embarrassed by his country. That's what makes McCain a regular true American. And that's what makes Obama an elitist snob.
Okay, just so this is cleared up. For Democrats, it wasn't important how many houses Kerry had during the 2004 election, but it is important how many houses McCain has in 2008?

Yes, it  does matter. Especially when one of your billionaire candidate's arguments is that his opponent is an elitist.

Are right wingers that ignorant of the concept of IRONY?
It's funny. All the conservatives are now talking about Rezko. I guess the forget about Abramoff....
McLame wants to re institute the draft:

This is ominous, and should give ALL Americans cause for grave concern. Where are you MSM on this issue? Todd? Kramer? Anybody?
I guess John McCain shares Cokie Roberts opinion that the 50th state of the union is "exotic"...that should go well...

and really, still with the lettuce thing? cmon...
Oh, and by the way, the McCains own 10 houses, not 7, as previously reported.  Wake up, America!  This guy McCain does not feel your economic pain!  HE OWNS 10 HOUSES!!  If elected, he will take from the poor and buy and 11th house.  Not even the rich and famous own 10 houses!  Not even Donald Trump owns 10 houses.  Wake up, America.  Who is John McCain?  He is more than an elitest.  McCain reminds me of Saddam Hussein who had 10 palaces.

DRAFT...DRAFT...DRAFT that is the newest and most important issue and glaring menace that McCain has let escape his lips.  Please address this in an Ad immedately and address it in each and every campagin stop you make from now on! He is about aggression, anger and WAR.  C.Rice today spoke of timelines which deflates McCain's own 'stay the course' view.  Please go at him strongly with the facts, the truth and vigor. ML,Portland,OR
Did any one hear McCain, in the same town hall meeting, that  he agreed with a lady that we need to generate the "Draft"?
If McCain can't remember how many houses he owns, how is he going to remember critical foreign policy information? We already have a president who lacks in intellect. We can not afford to have another one.
I don't really care how many houses either of them have.  But I do think it's scary that McCain is so confused that he couldn't answer that simple question. Ten shouldn't be such an overwhelming number.
Off the topic here, but, I read yesterday that McCain might choose Romney to have access to his $250 million.  I thought McCain was limited to $85 million by law.  Can you address this issue, please.
You folks do a great job keeping us informed.  Thank you.
That is how you fight back.  Very good ad.  I know Obama did not what to go there, but McCain left him no choice.  McCain had more garbage than a dump and Obama needs to dump it on him.
Money doesn't make you an elitist.  It's a mindset. I could care less how many houses either one of these two have.
Funny, Obama 'doesn't have time for silly celebrity ads' but has time for this.  I thought Obama wanted to get back to the issues.
No posting on that last message about McCain and Romney, please.  I forgot to state that before submitting.
Brian Rogers, Yes to all of the above!!  The American people aren't stupid.  We know who's out of touch here and it isn't Obama, it's John McCain.  If all you have is Rezko, arugula, and a well deserved Hawaiian vacation, you're in trouble buddy!  Not even the Rev. Wright can help you now.
No posting on that last message about McCain and Romney, please.  I forgot to state that before submitting.
Even by McCain's $5 million standard, Obama is not rich.

People who live in 7 glass houses...

McCain is a flip flopping weasel who wants endless war and even more corporate government.

Barack Obama has the smarts to make American great again.

GO OBAMA GO -- PATRIOTS LOVE YOU!!!!

REAL AMERICANS KNOW JOHN MCCAIN IS DANGEROUS!!!
The Obama's earned their money. McCain banged his was into the bucks while committing adultery. That makes McCain a big gigalo. He brags about the size of his member. Shocking but true.
Finally!
Unfortunately, a silly ad like this is the only way of getting across to voters the wreckage of McCain's "Walk it off, America" economics plan.  The Obama camp can't let America be fooled by John 5Mil McCain saying he defends the middle class.  Leave it for the true middle class candidate who has an economic policy to backup what he claims.

It is the people who need to wake up.  If they want the same old crap, then vote that way.  They will only have themselves to blame.

CJ:

Excelllent comments CJ and I agree 100%. It is time to kick some a--. And if it does not work and McCain wins, so be it. But Obama can then say he gave it his all. Not just his calculated intelligence but his anger and passion and understanding of the people. Let the anger boil up and use it. "We are tired of the same old nasty politics and divisiveness representd by the McCain camapign and we are not going to take it anymore"!
There are 3 John McCains - the POW, the Senator, and the filthy, liar running for prez.   ATTACK THE FILTHY LIAR RELENTLESSY..!!!

Stop honoring his service - he is a slimeball like his campaign.  Hit him, hit him, hit him.  He is a criminal from the Keating-5.   Call him a criminal.

He is a Warmonger who will bankrupt this country..!!
McCain and Obama are both richer than I by leaps and bounds. FDR and the Kennedys were both far richer than either candidate. It really isn't important how much money the candidate has or has access to. All I care about is which one's going to leave the country in better shape on his last day than it was on his first.
Ok Obama...Good...this is a start...but I think you need to start getting tougher in your stump speeches....But this ad is a start...your next add should be about McBush's response to the draft question. And then the next add should hit McBomber on his response at the Rick Warren forum about 5 million dollars being considered rich.

Please expose McCain for the fraud that he is.

first read you ain't what you used to be, rich man's war poor man's blood.

mccain just announced his new campaign slogan

"a chicken in every pot and a missal in every silo"

Once again, McCain's camp has no answer for this, all they can do is attack back as if that answers the fundimental question.

If a guy doesn't know how many homes he owns, and he thinks that "rich" is defined by $5 million or more per year income levels, it's OBVIOUS that the guy is completely out of touch with reality.  That guy is John McCain.
Great post CJ - to a point.

Just a reminder - don't fall for the "tightening polls" routine.

If the Democratic Primaries taught us nothing else, don't forget this - the polls don't mean a thing.

Remember when Hillary Clinton was LOSING the early primaries and caucuses, and her team kept pointing to her 20 point lead in the national polls?

Remember all those polls with Senator Clinton leading in North Carolina? Remember the polls with Senator Obama winning in New Hampshire?

How'd that turn out?

This race is about each state, and the truth is, Senator Obama is competing in states where the Democrats haven't been competitive in DECADES!

Ask Al Gore - it's not about polls - it's not about popular vote - it's about the state by state winner take all electoral votes. And Obama is OFF THE CHARTS in this area - even if the media WON'T REPORT IT!

Keep the faith - this news is DESIGNED to DEMORALIZE us and start us fighting among ourselves.

Not this time.
