From NBC's Jeannie Ohm
Here's some more information about the deployment of Joe Biden's son, Beau, to Iraq: This will be his first deployment to Iraq and the first with the Army National Guard, which he joined in 2003. Moreover, he's going with the 261st Signal brigade, which is part of the brigade headquarters.

They leave for Ft. Bliss, Texas in early October and will undergo training there for a month or. An official says it's safe to say that the brigade will be in Iraq before the end of the year. The length of deployment will be one year. No word yet where they will be in Iraq and which division they will fall under.

Biden will be part of his brigade's administrative staff in Iraq and provide military counsel and enforce the UCMJ since he's a JAG.

Obama dismissed Biden's early misstep almost immediately.

"I didn't take Senator Biden's comments personally, but obviously they were historically inaccurate. African-American presidential candidates like Jesse Jackson, Shirley Chisholm, Carol Moseley Braun and Al Sharpton gave a voice to many important issues through their campaigns, and no one would call them inarticulate." (http://frum.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NTYxNDY5NjljYzBjMzdkYWNmNzI4OGMwNWQ4NTIzZGQ=)

Has anyone voiced the concern over Biden being able to objectively advise Obama on Iraq with the knowledge that his decisions will have a direct impact on the safety of Biden's son?

non of your business Lily!
'...the McCain campaign was called out for lying about the purported urging of Cindy McCain by Mother Teresa herself to adopt two children...'

Makes a great story, thoug doesn't it ?

He was really just looking for a tax write off

'... another shameless and deliberate attempt by the campaign to reinvent and embellish the McCain family history...'

WHAT ELSE are they LYING ABOUT ?

From Huff Post:

'...The Anatomy of a Deception: How The McCains Changed Their Baby Adoption Story Just Before 2008 Campaign Began

As was pointed out yesterday by the Christian Science Monitor, the McCain campaign was called out for lying about the purported urging of Cindy McCain by Mother Teresa herself to adopt two children at her orphanage back in 1991. Turns out, McCain never met or even spoke with Mother Teresa on that trip.

Once confronted by the Monitor about the deception, the campaign quickly erased such claims from the website, as it did with Cindy's family recipes, which were proved to be lifted from the Food Network.

But after doing some research, this deception was no careless accident, but rather another shameless and deliberate attempt by the campaign to reinvent and embellish the McCain family history in time for his 2008 presidential bid.

Here's how the McCain adoption was described by them prior to the 2008 presidential race:

Newsweek (Nov. 15, 1999, Cindy McCain's Own Story):

Lily dont even try it . Just like any troll you try to exploit the trivial.
He is a military attorney, why is it that this is some kind of grand event...McCain's son is with the Marines and has been over to Iraq and a second son that would also be sent to Iraq.  They are not JAG officers that act as consultants...amazing we think this makes the news when Biden is supporting the candidate that says bring them home while McCain will put his children in harms way to serve his country...which candidate has the courage to stand up for America?  Is there any question?
Hey Clara from Kansas -- Just wondering -- Is it at all possible for you Obama supporters to make your point without having to write "a book!?!"  You're all full of such self-importance.  And by the way -- this isn't your BLOG just because you monopolize it!
IF MCWAR WINS - SOON ALL OUR CHILDREN WILL BE GOING TO WAR AS MCWAR SAID YESTERDAY HE AGREED WITH A NEW DRAFT.  WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THAT EXECPT KEITH OBERMAN.
NO DRAFT NO WAR NO MCCAIN!!!
I'm wondering if maybe we all get surprised and Obama chooses Wes Clarke instead of Biden!?
we don’t take you seriously on this blog if you don’t use salient, relevant facts to support your though farts.  We demand more.

Oh, that is rich.  Are you trying to say that Obama supporters never just spout off on angry rants that may or not be based in fact?  Have you not read anything from Eric in Salinas or in fact, any of your own posts, Clara?   Are you the blog police, and only you and your little circle can determine 'who is taken seriously' ?
I hope Senator Obama picks Biden.  He would really help the ticket.

I met Beau last year in Iowa campaigning for his dad...hes a great guy.
Come home safely. I have a feeling your dad will have a new job when you get back.

Thank you for your service Beau. I along with the rest of America will be praying for your safe and speedy return.

Hopefully, with Barack as President, other vibrant young adults won't be sent into a war that should have never been started!

Judgement, Patience and Intellegence - Obama 08!
Heck, Beau will be a lot closer to any action than bush, cheney or any of the chickenhawks who started the war ever were...now or then

Lily you are a fool.

Obama/Biden 08

Just a little of topic here, on the iPredict that MSNBC has been conducting, McCain is moving up. Why Because 10,000+ Repubs have voted him up against 3,000+ only for Obama. It's time to start voting on these polls. Just don't vent here. VOTE. Vote on these online polls on many websites. Let your voice hbe heard. And make dam sure you vote in Nov. Obama can't do it with out US. We Dems gotta walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
Um, is this really smart for the media to report this information??? I mean this kid could be the VPs son for chrissakes.
Still of topic here but has to be said none-the-less!

When any legislation brought by the Dems to fix things in the senate or congress (oil drilling, health care, economics issues)  The Repukes vote it down or if it passes, Bush vetos it.
Take the last piece of legislation that would have forced the Oil Companies to start drilling where they are allowed to. The Repukes voted it down.  They can start drilling for Oil at anytime but all the Oil Companies want is just more land. Put the blame where blame is due, The Repuking Party. Congress has a low rating because of the Repukes, not the Dems. Do some real research.
First Read may be suggesting by these Biden anecdotes that Biden is the nearest likeness to McCain and is therefore needed to balance the ticket. Hillary now seems more subversive than ever and would perhaps even be dangerous to Obama, inferred from Maureen Dowd's column yesterday). Obamacans and young people don't give up now! Obama for Change '08!
lily: Go back to FOX NEWS and keep your brain washed thoughts to yourself!
Wish everyone well that goes in harm's way.  Paper pusher, cook, or grunt.
Lily, Obama never was upset at Biden's clean and articulate comment, taken in context, it was intended as high praise for Obama. The only people I know of who were upset were Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, because it was clear form the statement that Biden didn't think either were mainstream. Of course that was the truth.

With respect to the comment about is Obama ready to be President right now, which I think he was asked during the ABC debate on August 19, 2007 in Des Moines, or possibly the 9/26/07 NH debate, whether he still stood by that statement. He replied to the effect "I think I do" Big deal, given what others in the race had said. and it's been almost a year (or over if it was the Des Moines debate)since he said it.
My thoughts and prayers will be with Beau, he's a great guy.
