MICHIGAN: A new Detroit Free Press poll has Obama leading McCain, 46%-39%. “Independents, women and Wayne County voters helped boost Democrat Barack Obama to a 7-point lead over Republican John McCain in the presidential race in Michigan, according to a Detroit Free Press-Local 4 Michigan Poll conducted this week. Obama's 46% to 39% statewide advantage is especially aided by his bulge of 39 percentage points among voters in Wayne County, including Detroit.”

More: “Still, the numbers could move. Nearly one-third -- 31% -- of those questioned in the Free Press-Local 4 poll said they could be persuaded to change their minds by Election Day on Nov. 4.”

And: “• Obama leads 80%-13% among Detroit voters.
• Obama leads 45%-41% among voters in suburban Oakland and Macomb counties.
• McCain leads among white voters statewide, 46%-38%.
• Obama gets 92% of African Americans.
• McCain holds a 13-point lead among Catholic voters. Protestants are evenly split, although evangelicals favor McCain by 2-1.
• Among non-Christians, Obama leads 66%-13%”

Polls are crap,...although in the electoral - Obama is still winning -

yesterday - Charlotte, Oneida NY (Sent Thursday, August 21, 2008 10:04 AM)  So if it’s an “absolutely impossible climate”, why are you standing in line asking for a 3rd helping?  Seriously?  I guess I am being snarky; but I’m still morbidly curious.
& similarly “…Here we are, after 7 years of Republican disaster…” Richard, Washington State (Sent Wednesday, August 20, 2008 7:04 PM) So if the Republicans = 7 years of disaster, why are you so anti Obama?  Are you that afraid of him?  PS.  Fair enough Richard, clearly I wasn’t too pissed for words – but at least - admit, it wasn’t as winded as some of my reactions ;)
Glad to hear some good news for a change.  The rust belt should be especialy eager to vote for change, as they've been largely ignored by Bush et al.
Well, this is comforting news...now, if only the MSM will take Mich. out of the toss up column and put it in Obama's leaning towards column, we will know there isn't pro McCain bias...but of course, that's asking too much, like asking Obama to please tell us who his VP will be by the end of this day!
Ha ha ha ha ha.

...and some of you doubted that MI would be blue...
Sometimes I wonder how do the pollsters conduct these polls! Do they go by county or the whole state? I just wonder, because wasn't Obama just down in MI? I don't believe this polling business. Get it together pollters!

OMG, Dan A. is going off the air! One of the best shows on MSNBC next to Keith O. You will be missed Dan A. and good luck on all future endeavor's.
this is great, i stay in in the suburbs so this is a surprise.  hopefully in stays at seven points until the election

Go Obama!
We will stay blue and do our part here in MI.
These poll results are not a surprise. The Democrats have been so good to the people of Michigan. Throwing their votes out, then "letting" them have half a vote. Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has certainly been a bright and shining star for the Democrats, we wish him all the luck in the world as he defends himself in court and tries to stay out of jail. Jobs are leaving the state everyday. Yup, the Democrats have been a real gem for the people of Michigan.
MI, PA, and OH are going to Obama in November.

I wonder if the Obama supporters will complain that this poll didn't get the cell phone using young?
Still too early for the polls to be accurate and with pollers not calling people with cell phones only the results are going to be skewed in favor of the repugnant one who is a false war hero.  So sad that the media makes way too much about all these polls.

Only Barack Obama will protect the poor and middle classes from the party of rich and greedy thieves!

Go Obama 08/12!
Nearly one-third -- 31% -- of those questioned in the Free Press-Local 4 poll said they could be persuaded to change their minds by Election Day on Nov. 4.
*******************************************************

Well, no kidding.  If it comes out that Barack Obama had an affair outside of marriage -- or John McCain was secretly funneling monies to al Qaeda, a lot of people's minds would be changed.

Wonderful. I believe he will win Michigan. Given how long that state has been depressed, it is the only outcome that makes sense.

CA, Tuscaloosa,

Thanks for the admonition about the media outside of Biden's home. My statement was harsh, and hypocritical. I apologize.
I can't understand why MI still votes democrat.
Don't you KNOW it!

Michiganders for Obama!!!

Now who ever thought Michigan was going RED....Some people are really struggling over here!  Have you seen or read the foreclosure reports!!??
