KEATING 5 MCCAIN’S ETHICAL BLUNDER THAT COSTS THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS BILLIONS;

MCCAIN'S GETS SOCIAL SECURITY, MILITARY PAY IS WORTH $100m+ AND HAS NEVER REPAID THOSE AMERICANS WHO LOST EVERYTHING CAUSED BY HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE "KEATING 5"

By Mark Nickolos, July 28, 2008-07-28

“Keating 5 “Mirror to Enron” with Phil Gramm, MCCAIN’S TOP ECONOMIC ADVISOR LOBBYISTS, his wife and friends making a Bundle and Employees Lost Everything
Almost exactly 20 years ago -- in the middle of the saving and loan crisis -- federal regulators seized Lincoln Savings and Loan Association of Irvine, California. The takeover took place more than a year after five United States senators had tried to hold-off a government investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board into Lincoln's risky loan practices regarding home loans.

Those five senators included Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and the chairman of Lincoln was Charles Keating -- who was not only a top McCain donor but was Cindy McCain's business partner in a real estate deal in Arizona (as I detailed earlier this year). This scandal -- known as The Keating 5 -- remains an albatross for McCain's political career.

As a result of Lincoln's collapse, American taxpayers lost more than $2 billion on the bailout and more than 21,000 Mostly Elderly Investors Lost Their Life Savings as a result of bankruptcy of Lincoln's parent company.

In 1991, the Senate Ethics Committee rebuked McCain, finding that he had "exercised poor judgment in intervening with the regulators." The net effect of the actions of the Keating 5 senators was to Prevent Federal Regulations from Intervening a year earlier and Limiting the amount of Exposure to Taxpayers and Investors.

Why is this relevant?

Well, 20 years later, we're back in the middle of another banking crisis and federal regulators have already begun seizing insolvent banks, and this advisory ran on the wires over the weekend:
Silver State Bancorp (NASDAQ:SSBX), the holding company for Silver State Bank, announced today that Andrew K. McCain submitted his resignation today as a director on the Boards of Directors of Silver State Bancorp and Silver State Bank, citing personal reasons.

Andrew is none other than the son of John McCain.

Already this morning, Silver State (SSBX) is down another 10 percent.
I'll never forget it - Chris Matthews in Springfield, ILL on that freezing cold day as Senator Obama announced his candidacy.

And then Senator Obama goes on and wins Iowa. Chris Matthews that night when the call was made, wondered if people in this country, because of our mistakes in going into Iraq, realized that this country wasn't measuring up and that we decided that perhaps the country was ready to go into a different direction completely.

... maybe as a country we weren't measuring up ... perfect analysis of the voting public in 2008.

And here we are a year and half later back to Springfield, ILL with the real dream ticket, Obama/Biden. What an election this has turned out to be.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Wha ? Biden ZZZZ Yawn. Change we can believe in ??? Hee Hee. No Washington Insiders WTF?ZZZZ yawn.Riddle: How many houses could Joe Biden Buy If Biden could buy houses? Hee Hee. Barky is so proud he makes the announcement in the middle of the night on the weekend No less. Heeee. Hee Whats the matter, was John McCain unavailable for VP so Barry took Biden. Whaaa Haaa
My God! When are we going to see that the Obama campaign is not just about winning, it is also about being effective after winning. Choosing someone who will bring a state, an experience and blah! Blah!! Blah!!! is how we have been brainwashed over the years. To angry Clinton supporters, go ahead vote for McCain, which will surely punish Obama, he looses the election and we get McCain and the country will be on the right path, correct? Then afterwards when gas price hits $11.24 per gallon, we will turn around and blame Obama for not fighting hard to win the election when we are actually the ones that cast the votes. Let me put it this way for you, Obama did not come from a privileged family and neither is Biden. This choice in VP shows good judgment because when you leave the fancies of what he brings or not, Obama chose someone whom after a long tenure in the senate remained forthright and still shows enthusiasm for this country’s future. Vetting Clinton now is harder than say in 1992 when they were just starting. There is a lot Hillary Clinton will rather not share with the public including sharing them with her supporters. To vote for McCain just because Hillary Clinton is not going to become president is not different than the mentality of the suicide bombers who says to hell with you and me. I sincerely hope we let this country of ours to get on the right path. Good luck and God speed.
Hi Folks,

It's Official.  A wise and well thought out choice.  Yes, Biden can be a bit of a loose cannon, but I agree with those who say that a little loose cannon at this point is not such a bad thing.  The "Rumble in the Jungle" analogy discussed on the HuffPo was incredibly insightful.   Dance, float like a butterfly, let McBush punch him self out while slipping in those well aimed and well timed jabs, stay just out of reach of the power punches, then, when McDraft's brain begins (!) to falter, and he weakens (how many houses was that John?  Houses.  You know, those places you can fall asleep without Joe L. elbowing you awake?) go in for the knockout.  And there's Joe Biden, helping pave the way.

I'm disappointed with those that are complaining of Obama's "broken" promises regarding text message notification, and puzzled by the fact that anyone would try to relate this to the "3am" stupidity that Bill (not Hillary) approved as an attack ad.  How in God's name is Barack or his campaign supposed to take the blame for a LEAK to the media.  No, he didn't tell the media, it was LEAKED.  I was thrilled to get the text message, even though I heard that ABC news had confirmed that Biden was the pick.

Finally, Hillary supporters need to take a look at their reason for voting for someone other than the Democratic nominee, or for staying home.  Compare policies.  Want your kids killed in Iran?  Want your daughter hospitalized after obtaining an illegal abortion?  Go ahead, vote for McSenile.  Or Nader.  Or the Green candidates...they're women, right?  THINK ABOUT THE ISSUES.  Vote with your brain, not with your chromosomes.  Look, I'm not trying to be patronizing.  It's just too important this time.  Think about it.  Hold your nose if you have to.  DO the right thing for America.  You'll feel better.....promise.

Yeah, Joe was my 1st pick.  Could not have picked a better person ... OMG another ethical person!  This ticket just gets better all the time.  Wonder how big a bounce the Dem ticket will get?
How gracious of McCain... http://www.enewsreference.wordpress.com

I am SO GLAD Obama made a WISE decision. This is another example of how smart this guy is...

McNasty will Pander, Obama will listen..

Mccain Reed No Show, August 19, 2008

Posted: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 9:14 AM by Mark Murray

"McCain raised more than $1.75 million for Republicans Monday at a fundraiser that became high profile after a political operative connected to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff promoted it. The event was promoted by Ralph Reed, former head of the Christian Coalition… Reed was not seen inside the hotel ballroom; a McCain campaign spokeswoman said he did not attend. But Democrat Barack Obama's rival presidential campaign sought to make him an issue, asking how much Reed-linked money was raised or would be kept by McCain's campaign.

Asked Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor: Will Senator McCain keep the money Reed has raised for him, and is Reed is a member of the McCain Victory 2008 team? If the McCain campaign won’t return the money Reed has raised for them, then voters should rightly ask why it matters that Reed didn’t show up at tonight’s event. The real question isn’t why Reed isn’t showing up, but why a so-called reformer would invite him at all,”

With McCain visiting an oil rig in New Orleans today, the DNC also has distributed an Exxon-McCain ’08 kit to reporters. Per the DNC, the kit includes “a limited edition Exxon-McCain ’08 stress ball in the shape of an oil drum (to help alleviate the stress of no longer getting access to the candidate) along with campaign buttons and bumper stickers.”

The hypocrate tips his hand...call to congratulate the guy while running negative ads against them.  Obama/Biden is a great ticket.  So my fellow democrats, our work is cut out for us...let us work hard to get out the vote now that we have a solid ticket.  We owe it to all Americans, even those ignorant Repulicans and PUMA haters.  Rock the vote!!!!
Here is how the call went:

Mc - Ah, Joe?

Joe - Huh, huh.

Mc - Aaahhh, Cindy, and I heard your good news.

Joe - Huh, huh.

Mc - Aaaahh, I ah, I'd just like to say, (hard swallow due to mouth dry), ah, you know, congratulations.

Joe - Thanks. But...

Mc - (interrupting) Now... now.. now Joe, ah, we've been friends a long time, and well um, you know, I have sensitive skin. And, and, and, Cindy isn't a very strong person....so um......

Joe - (interrupts) Cut it John. You slandered my main man, and when I see you, I'm gonna rip that ugly mound of flesh clean off your face.

Click!

Joe - You better run.
yeah whatever.

Top McCain adviser lobbied for nation of Georgia
By Greg Gordon | McClatchy Newspapers

John McCain blocked an Air Force contract to replace a fleet of refueling tankers and allowed the contract to go to Airbus/EADS?

John McCain who then received $12K in campaign contributions from EADS' North American executives?
John McCain's top foreign policy adviser, Randall Scheunemann, lobbied for the Nation of Georgia for four years, including for about a year after he joined the Republican senator's presidential campaign staff in early 2007.

Georgia has paid Scheunemann's firm, Orion Strategies, LLC, nearly $900,000 since 2004, including $200,000 for an eight-month contract that began on May 1, two weeks after McCain issued a strong statement criticizing Russia and supporting Georgia.

Talk about "Judgement" with John McCain you can fully expect More of the Same

Why is this a surprise?  They are both gentlemen and have been friendly colleagues for many years.  It's too bad we can't have a return to this kind of civility in our elected officials so Congress could get some meaningful work accomplished for the American people.
Well, how genteel.
Obama Biden.........nana, nana, nana, nana!! nana, nana, nana, nana OBAMA-BIDEN!!!!!

McCAIN ADVISOR LOBBIED FOR GEORGIAN GOVERMENT

On. April 17, a month and a half after Scheunemann (McCain's Campaign Foreing Affair Advisor) continued work for Georgia his partner signed a $200,000 agreement with the Georgian Government.

The Deal Added to an Arrangement that brought in more than $800,000 to the Two-Man Firm  from 2004 to mid-2007.  For the duration of the Campaign Scheumemmann is taking a leave of Absence from the firm.

"Scheunemann's work as a Lobbyists poses Valid Questions about McCain's Judgement in Choosing someone who ---and --whose firm----are PAID To Promote the Interest of other Nations.", said New York University Law Professor Stehpen Gillers.  "So one must ask  whether McCain is getting dis-interested Advice, at Least when the Issues concern those Nations.

"If McCAIN WANTS ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WHOSE PRIVATE INTEREST AS A ONCE FUTURE LOBBYIST MAY AFFECT THE "OBJECTIVITY" of THE ADVICE,  that's his Choice."
I'm trying to remember exactly when Fineman went in, or jumped in the Obama tank. Wait! Wait! Perhaps it was at the same time as, or with Mika B.
The fact that Luger and Hagel were independent enough to break away from the Rethuglicans talking points to embrace this outstanding choice is “Change” within it self.
Attn: All sore losers with "I'll show them" mentality (like Diane on Hardball last night- Diane 'just say no deal' on Hardball last night couldn't answer when Chris Matthews asked her who she's voting for, and to imagine if McCain wins..................)~

THIS IS NOT A GAME!!!!

How sad and ridiculously petty!!!

Didn't you learn ANYTHING in 2000? People must vote for the person who more accurately reflects their side of the issues; if they don't; say hello to at least 4 more years of McSAME!!!

Are you really this idiotic? This is about the lives of Americans, the lives of our children, and the future of our country!!!!

THIS IS NOT A GAME!!!!

GET OVER IT!
THINK!

(btw~ Chris Matthews; you let Diane off way too easy; in the past you would DEMAND answers and remind your guests they were on Hardball!)
McCain has proven himself to be just another typical hypocrite! Says one thing, and does another!

Practice what you preach.........my friend.
Pretty magnanimous of him considering Biden is now his chief threat.

McCain's "He's Not Ready To Lead" ads are going to sound hollow with Biden solidly backing him up. Now if Clinton comes to the charge... the Dems will have it wrapped up in November.
What a phoney, baloney Mccain is.
Course, we all know this,
After watching MSNBC today, it appears McFraud is the only one wishing Sen. Biden good wishes. Beware guys, we will hold your feet to the fire when McFraud picks his V.P.
Did Mcsame tell Biden not to trash him when the Dems go after him. Sorry white haired dude your time is up.

Republican Senators Praise Senator Biden

Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel: U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel issued the following statement today following Senator Barack Obama's selection of Senator Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic Vice Presidential nominee:  "Joe Biden is the right partner for Barack Obama. His many years of distinguished service to America, his seasoned judgment and his vast experience in foreign policy and national security will match up well with the unique challenges of the 21st Century.  An Obama-Biden ticket is a very impressive and strong team.  Biden's selection is good news for Obama and America," Hagel said.

Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar:  U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar made the following statement today en route to Tbilisi. "I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on his selection of my friend, Senator Joe Biden, to be his vice-presidential running mate. I have enjoyed for many years the opportunity to work with Joe Biden to bring strong bipartisan support to United States foreign policy…"

Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter:  Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter, a Republican who serves on the Judiciary Committee with Biden and often rides Amtrak with him to Washington, also offered praise.  "No one on the Democratic side knows more about foreign policy than Sen. Biden," Specter said. "He's been an articulate spokesman on the subject. He also knows about domestic policy. He's been a leader on crime control."
Now it is McCain's turn.  A deal for Romney to follow McCain and likely to be his running mate was more than likely made when Romney dropped out.  That would be consistent with how McCain got the backing this time around after agreeing to throw his total support behind Bush in 2004; that just seems to be the way they do things.  Now, assuming it is Romney, it should be interesting how the McCain camp handles the obvious distaste they have displayed for each other.
Nice call very show class on McCain's Part.

Hillary came second in delgates but 1st in out hearts.

With all do respect I'll hold my nose Joe and vote McCain.
First he sent the nasty-gram-ad on TV and then he called him---Have you seen that new attack Repub ad....Mccain is so silly with this McFoolish ad. Is he still in grammar school?? You'd think when you watched it that he was mad because he wanted to select BIDEN as his running mate....Go ahead John, you can still choose Lieberman or mormonMitt or huckleberry Huckabee or keep Cheney to show your true puppet status as a McBush....We now have our wrinkly old white-haired guy on the ticket to run against your wrinkly old white-haired guy....Gotta luv it....Let the campaign begin! ....It's time to put OBAMA to work for all America!...OBAMA / BIDEN '08 ......Let's get it on!
I'm certain McCain was choking on his own congratulations.  Obama and Biden make a great team.  Obama's dynamic plans for change will be countered by Biden's practical knowledge and experience.  This is truly change we can believe in.
Well done ! Now tear his a$$ a new one. Senator McCain you should also call obama and Thank Him for giving you this election. With all the Republician votes ( which Biden will bring out more ) you can now count on MILLIONS of us Hillary supporters to back you ! You are a man of Integrity ! Looking forward to having you represent us Hillary people.

McCain 08
Strange that the news folks are faulting the Obama campaign for not being the ones who told their supporters first about Sen. Biden...  doesn't that assume that people are watching in the middle of the night?  My guess is the text message from the Obama campaign was indeed the first notice most supporters received.
He also passed along Cindy's recipe for some really swell oatmeal cookies.

Of course, that too was phony.
John Sydney McCain III offered Joe a laurel and hardy handshake.

roflmao

Right.

Two faced isn't he.
What a nice gesture of the McCain's.  I wonder if BO will do the same to McCain's VP choice?  Hmmm!  Probably will now since McCain made this move.
At his heart I'm sure there is still a bit of honor in McCain. Too bad he sold his soul. He has no honor left for the nation. Biden is a great AND honorable choice. Let's have a break from the efforts to destroy our constitutional democracy and move forward with Obama-Biden.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/22/buffett-recession-will-co_n_120754.html

On the political front, Buffett encouraged Americans not to expect perfection from candidates. He said the presidential race features two good candidates this year, but he favors Democrat Barack Obama even though he doesn't agree with all of his proposals.
"The only way to get somebody who agrees with you 100 percent is to run yourself, and I have no interest in that," Buffett said.

That's enough for me right there. A billionaire "Oracle" with a track record of supporting AMERICAN manufacturing says he can live with Obama's plans...suffice it to say I would put a lot more into Warren Buffet's recommendations than I ever could put into McCain's...(OR Bush's for that matter!!)
Too bad Biden didn't just hang up on him
McCain and Biden are old Senate friends; wonder what they talked about. I can see McCain trashing Biden as a closet bigot, though.

http://www.political-buzz.com/
I feel bad for McCain, he has no good options to counter the Biden pick, but I don't feel too bad!!
Sure...
First I would like to say I'm disappointed with NBC. It used to be that NBC had some of the best journalists working for them, but lately the quality of reporting has been so bias that it makes Fox News look Fair and Balanced. MSNBC is a disgrace to journalism and it is obvious in their ratings and viewing audience. One example is the day Andrea Mitchell describes people from West Virgnia as "Rednecks".

Now about the election. Obama/Biden couldn't be any worse for the ticket. Obama claims he wants to "Change" politics, but he adds someone who voted for the war? I gave Obama much credit for being against the war from the beginning. But by adding Biden just shows that he is inexpierenced and needs someone with more insight in Washington. Biden is a complete idiot. George Allen's political career was lost because he used the word "Macacca" but Biden can compare Indian-Americans to 7 Eleven and Dunkin Donuts and still be in the race? Unbelievable.

I see this election to be a landslide. McCain is going to play well in states like California, New Jersey, New York, and many more. Some where Democrats have strong holds.
Why do the republicans treat the public as if we are stupid by the ads they air? I find this highly insulting to my intelligence. Plus, each time the news media shows an ad of either candidate, is that not an in kind contribution that must be reported on their campaign disclosure reports? Will that not reduce the amount left to spend in the case of McCain taking public monies? How would McCain feel if Obama came out with an ad saying McCain was not at home for his wife when she needed drugs, so how can we count on him to be there for America? When she became so desperate that she stole from her own charity for her drug use, where was he in her hour of need? If he wasn't there for his own wife, how do we know he will be there for America? Will he be so focused on military actions that he will ignore middle/poor America as he did his home life? That is not an ad we need to see, nor want to. It has already come out by Hillary's camp as to why she was not vetted. (She did not want to be without an ironclad guarantee of being on the ticket.) When I saw the new McCain ads, I did NOT see what McCain wanted me to see. What I DID see was a scared old, old man running desperate for the win! If the candidates aren't smart enough to realize that for each negative they toss out, the other party can fling back two more, the God Help America!

As a person who has grown up supporting the democrat party, this year I will be pulling my support from the party of my family due to the outrages antics of Barack Obama. All of his fake attitudes about Christianity have brought me to believe that he just speaks empty words to the public about his religious beliefs. I believe if asked today like he was on April 5, 2004, he would say that he doesn't believe people will go to heaven or hell (Cathleen Falsani, Sun-Times).  Why Barack Obama doesn't belief that anyone will go to heaven or hell I don’t know. When he gave speech Saturday April 23, 2004 proclaiming Senator Bidden as his V.P. choice, he mentioned a congresswoman being in a better place. When he said being in a better place, I wanted to know where was that? Although it is true that Joe Bidden was a wonderful pick by him because he has the necessary qualifications, Barack Obama does not deserve to be President of the United States because of what he has done to the Christian leaders and above all, the word of God. Remembering my values lay at the feet at the common, I plan to and hope other will follow and write Hillary Clinton's name in any blank spot available for President of the United States of America.
I hope that Mccain picks someone just as out of touch as he is
Obama had a chance to show us what he meant by "change."  In selecting Biden, he blew it.  Rather than making his VP choice count, he chose a candidate to counter his embarassing lack of experience.

I hope McCain does better than Obama.
