The Obama-Biden coverage

The New York Times notes that Obama wasn’t originally sold on Biden. “Over the course of two months, as the dynamics of the presidential campaign and world events shifted quickly, Mr. Biden’s stock rose through one of the most rigorous vice-presidential vetting processes that Democrats could recall… And it ended Thursday with a phone call from Mr. Obama, who reached Mr. Biden as he was at a dentist’s office where he had taken his wife to have a root canal.”

“Mr. Obama reached the decision about 10 days ago while on a weeklong vacation to Hawaii. That week, Mr. Biden’s strengths in foreign policy were highlighted by the conflict between Russia and Georgia, giving his prospects a further boost. Associates of the other main possibility on Mr. Obama’s list, Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, said Mr. Obama cited the situation in Georgia in breaking the news to Mr. Bayh late last week that he had chosen Mr. Biden. But people involved in the process said it was not just foreign policy that tilted the balance. They said Mr. Obama’s decision had as much to do with Mr. Biden’s appeal among white working-class voters and compelling personal story, and his conclusion that the Delaware senator was ‘a worker.’”

The AP: "Biden was quick to attack. McCain will have to "figure out which of the seven kitchen tables to sit at" when considering his own economic future, Biden said. It was a reference to McCain's recent inartful admission -- in a time of economic uncertainty -- that he was not sure how many homes he owns. … In an interview with CBS News, McCain called Biden a 'wise selection' who will be formidable. But McCain remained critical of the Obama-Biden ticket on foreign policy, citing disagreements with Biden's decision to vote against the first Gulf War as well as his position that Iraq should be divided 'into three different countries.'"

The Boston Globe: "Obama's selection of Joe Biden as his running mate pleased many Democrats who are concerned about Obama's perceived shortcomings in foreign affairs, but it worried others who fear the pick reinforces Republican attacks on Obama's experience and Biden's past negative comments about Obama will be used against the Democratic ticket."

The Globe also profiles Biden. "If Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama intends to ride in and clean up the political culture of Washington, he's chosen a gray eminence, instead of a fresh face, to ride shotgun," the paper writes. "Compared with Obama, who is often characterized as cool and cerebral, Biden is direct and earthy. In May, when President Bush, addressing the Israeli Knesset, suggested that Obama was willing to appease terrorists, Biden offered a raw, profane retort followed by, 'This is malarkey.'"

The New York Daily News: "Bam's new Moe Joe" is written across a full page photo of Obama and Biden on stage in Springfield, Ill.

The New York Post: "JOEBAMA!"

The Detroit Free Press: "Dems have a team." (But notice the story on the right side: "Michigan voters a bit wary of Obama.")

The RNC launched a “Biden Gaffe Clock.”

I was impressed with the VP launch yesterday.  Despite a few verbal glitches, I think the imagery really drove home the point that this is now the duo to beat... and McCain will have a tough time doing that.

Well then, what the heck are they using for John McCain?  An Olympic stopwatch that measures out to hundredths of seconds?

Of course, they probably use some other device to count complete reversals of position, sometimes all within the same day?

Don't worry about Joe, he'll do just fine.  He just made a decent amount of "Undecideds" very comfortable with Obama.
Dear American Citizens and the media

Challenge to Media and Common Citizens of USA.

As a disabled American Veteran and concerned American citizen.

"We the citizens of the United States of America have the ultimate responsibility to elect the " Right Candidate with the right temperament" to lead our nation'

Our nation is and will be facing many present and future critical internal and external challenges as well as opportunities to address those challenges.

In order to prevent any probable prolong recession and diminished world standing as the sole superpower in the world' Whether it is the moral, democratic, economic, military, and other issues.

I impress upon voters to vote after considering following " qualities and characteristics" of  our presumptive presidential nominees.

In my firm professional opinion that the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss following attributes of Hon. Senator McCain and Obama:

1. Calm, cool, and collected " temper " [ Presidential Temperament ].
2. Sound and sustained "Judgment and Caliber".
3. "Thought-fullness and togetherness" of purpose and positions.
4. Minimum "ex-poser and exploitation" around "Washington and Washington insiders [Accept Senator BIDEN]".
5. Renewed " Vigor and Vision " for our Great-grand Nation.
6. Foreign policy based on " American Values, Virtuous, Vastness".
7. The campaign based of facts and free of fiction, deception, seduction, and attacks.

I plead to common voter to stay informed, stay involved, and stay engaged.

Do not allow some partisan media, pundits, pollsters, and perpetual political opinion makers effect your vote in the wrong direction.

Please do not be deceived and duped by "Psychological Terrorism" that is being directed at you without your consent and awareness.

Long live U.S.A and its diverse but democratic people.

This coverage lasted 24 hours on MSN. Must have been a slow news day or the obama press is trying anything to bolster their choosen canidate. Politics of change my a##.

The Clintons were right about bias in the press
Chuck Todd was great on MTP today. He has a good head on his shoulders and is far more reasonable than the other experts that pollute our airways. I like Todd.

What's up with Andrea Mitchell, by the way? She seems so unhappy these days, almost as if she can't wait to get off the air. The camera catches her glancing off stage all the time, as if she's waiting to get the cue she can leave. Is she mad Hillary didn't get the nomination? It's pretty clear she hates Obama.

Can I just say how much I love seeing Tom Brokaw on MTP? Its makes me nostalgic for the days we didn't worry about bias in the media and news anchors were like benevolent gods, above the fray, keeping the process honest. I miss trusting the media.
Ah yes, the RNC has quite a bit of experience with Gaffe Clocks..they have been running one on their own candidate for quite some time. The McGaffeCain Clock -one you can count on daily!
it's a win win win all the way for Obama, let the truth be told
The sensationalized coverage of Obama's VP pick was a bit much. I'm pretty glad it's over and satisfied with his choice. Biden's far from a change candidate, but provides balance and reinforcement to an already strong ticket. It will be interesting to see how much coverage the republicans get. To date, there isn't much interest in anything they're selling.
The endorsement from Senator Chuck Hagel that a very great number of us have been waiting for:

“An Obama-Biden ticket is a very impressive, and strong team. Biden’s selection is good news for Obama, and America”.

Chuck Hagel is the slam.

WE HAVE A WINNER!

LET'S TAKE BACK AMERICA to and for WE THE PEOPLE!

Faith/ Fidelity/ Future
The media does a go job always, good job leting people know the truth, did I say msnbc? yes You have my vote
With all this talk of Barack Obamas lack of experience has anyone Democrat or Republican bothered to look at all the experience G.W.Bush had? We as nation voted for G.W twice and his father was Pres. with all that experience and back up exp.(his dad)look at what G.W.Bush has done to this Great Nation. And i point out that Sen.Mccain was on board with Bush a whopping !!95%!! of the time.I think Sen.Joe Biden was an excellent choice for Obama, reason being foreign policy where Obama doesn't have that much experience. And just because Sen.Biden has 35yrs.in office does not mean he can't be an agent of change.
